#end of semester

I'm just on my way home from uni because we have just been released for the summer break at last, and I wanna thank y'all so much for supporting me throughout the creation of this blog. It will always be here hahaha this is a simple form of gratitude and sweet message to my moots especially.

This was the last semester of my second year in my fashion degree, which means that I will most likely return for my final year... scary, but I know that I will make it through, and from the minute I found out about shifting, I know that everything will be okay <3 Now I can enjoy my time off for a while, but I'll get really busy! As I'll be working hard towards my final major project.

This means that I may be on a shifting break to focus on graduating, moving out, perhaps learning to drive? and securing a summer internship (maybe), good paying job, of course, before I start thinking about seriously thinking about permashifting out of this reality permanently.

I simply want the version of myself that I'll eventually leave here to make the best out of her life even if I won't be "here" if you get what I mean, she will post my pre-drafted farewell blog to the community when I have made it but for now I wanna cherish my moments here and become the best version of myself towards my final days here! I hope y'all also understand. have a good day/night wherever you are, I love you all, and as always.

Me: Well, you submitted a 10 page PowerPoint instead of the 2 page poster.

Student: Oh... But extra pages means good, right?

Me: No, not in this case. You had very specific instructions to follow.

Student: I didn't really look at those...

Me: And you didn't listen to me in lecture describe what had to be done almost weekly?

Student: ...

Student: But I put a lot of work into it.

Me: You didn't even get the basic information about your chosen species correct.

Forgot to post these. These are pics from my last day of semester 1. My friends and I walked around campus and visited a museum.

The sculpture of a mother and child reminded me of my mother and I, had to take a pic... Unfortunately I didn't write down the artists name😭

Semester 1 of second year felt like running race, to meet deadlines, to stay on top of my classes... Unfortunately I slacked in my pre class prep, something I should fix in semester 2. Luckily I was able to pass all my modules, but just passing is not enough to prepare me for being a competant accountant.

My favourite genre of manwha is historical isekai, especially when the main character applies skills from this world in the world they teleported to... The other day I was reading a manwha of that type and a thought popped into my head, if I was isekaied would I be able to apply what I have learnt about accounting? Without any standards or references, purely based on what I remembered and understood. And it hit me... No, I wouldn't be able to.

So what does that mean? If I can't apply it in that situation what makes me think I can apply it in a job one day when a boss expects me to?

It was an eye opener for me, I really need to sit with my books and ensure I can apply the work.

School ends on Friday (finally) and the weekend is looking FIRE

We have:

Monaco gp, which yes it's a very boring drs train race, but still

Indy 500, which I don't follow Indycar except for the 500 but Robert Shwartzman my Prema boy is on pole as a rookie who's never driven an oval before and I know some of them (Pato O'Ward, Alex Palou, Josef Newgarden, Calum Illot, Colton Herta) and it's just fun to watch, like last year was actually so fun the last few laps, I was out at dinner and was not paying attention to anything but the tv screen lol

Coca-Cola 600, which while I don't follow NASCAR I'm very excited to see if Kyle Larsen can actually do the double this year, and again it can get pretty chaotic, plus Charlotte is near me (I say near, it's still a good while away but it's nearby by American standards lol)

So yeah, looking forward to the weekend and a full Sunday of races from the time I wake up til the time I go to sleep :)

Semester 3 Recap as an MLS Major ᐟᐟ☆

Major Accomplishments: ʚ I have the opportunity to graduate a year early! ʚ I passed orgo! ʚ I actually took care of myself! ʚ I survived my most hectic semester yet!

Biggest Lesson: I can't actually get perfect grades and take care of myself fully at the same time. I would rather take care of myself, though. I didn't make the dean's list for the first time, but I actually felt good about myself and I felt that my mental and physical health were finally in a good place. A 3.4 GPA isn't going to kill me, but I will admit it made me upset. I have to realize that it isn't the end of the world to prioritize happiness over academic success.

Next Semester Goals: ʚ Get on the dean's list again ʚ Get halfway through writing my book (or to chapter 10 if I'm unsure what halfway is) ʚ Find housing for next year ʚ Figure out Physics at a community college over summer ʚ Fully flesh out my studying habits (I say this every semester oops) ʚ Start journaling in a more structured way

Rundown of each course:

Courses & Reflection: General Immunology [A]: Any time spent with this professor is truly a blessing. I wish he taught everything. He's really funny, and he's so intelligent that it kinda blows you away. He doesn't shove it in your face though, he meets you at your level. I'll miss him!! General Microbiology [AB]: The lecture was mid, but the lab... I love microbiology so much. I want to spend the rest of my life in a microbiology lab I think. It gets repetitive, but it's just so therapeutic and fun and everything I love about biology. Micro has always been my favorite discipline, but now that I got to fully indulge, I know for sure this is what I want to do. Basic Medical Lab Techniques [B]: I am kind of disappointed that I got a B in this class, because it's specific to my discipline. I do think that it taught me to be more diligent in the future, and to invest deeper into the material. Most MLS students at my school are pre-med, but I actually want to be a medical lab scientist. I have to put in the work, and I think this class set me up very well for that. I have a lot of new studying methods to test out and refine!! Organic Chemistry I [B]: My goal for this class was literally to pass. The fact that I got a B actually shocked me and made me really happy. I did put a lot of effort into orgo, and I tried harder than I have in any other chemistry course. I think chemistry finally clicked for me this semester. Anatomy and Physiology I Lab [B]: I got an A in AnP over the summer, but I was having a rough week when the first practical came along and I totally bombed it. So I will say that the B was a comeback from the DF I started with. However, I will keep better track of my practicals next semester, because that's lowkey embarrassing. Enterprise [A]: This was really fun, because it's so outside of my wheelhouse. I definitely did not expect to work on an engineering project in my academic career, but here I am. I love my team, and I'm really happy I did this. I'm going to stop trying to insert myself into the engineering side, and focus more on the medical, patient need, and kinesthetic side of building the prosthetic. Especially once we get into physical testing. I might ask my prosthetist for advice...

i have only 24 days until my summer semester starts, then it's grind-grind-grind until the end of my fall semester !

Recently a friend accused me of ghosting them bc I haven’t texted them back in a week. I told her:

Today's End of Semester Moment. Student: Prof, I didn't know that everything was due on Sunday. I thought we had till May 6th.

Me: May 6th? Where did you get that date?

Student: Well, when I looked online that's when it said final grades are due.

Me: For professors to input them into the system so students can graduate. We don't put our due dates for our courses on the same day the university requires them to be in.

Student: So can you open up the exams for me?

Me: No. It was stated in class, on the PowerPoints, and in the syllabus when things are due and when they would close.

Student: But I didn't know!

Me: Huh, I know I said it, and I know the TAs in the labs said it...so let's check your in-class activity then.

Student: You don't have to do that....

Me: It looks like you've attended less than a third of the lectures and labs. No wonder you didn't know when things are due.

Student: Well I couldn't attend for reasons!

Me: Looks like we don't have any emails either with university excused absences or reasons as to why you did not come to class. The policy is to email us if you cannot attend, and if you cannot attend that many then you shouldn't be taking the class.

Me: Good news though. If you do well on the final you might get a B though, so that's something. Just remember it's due on the 4th, not the 6th.

Me: Is there anything else I can help you with?

Semester exams are only a week away omg😵‍💫

One thing I love about studying literature is how it roots itself in so many cultural artifacts that you would never have known about otherwise. Take the classical piece 'War Requiem' that I only came to know of while reading Wilfred Owen's war poem 'Strange Meeting.'

Finished reading The Art of Racing in the Rain last night, and this is by far the best book of 2023 for me. I love it so so much, I miss Enzo, I root for Denny. God, how much I love this book🤌💗💗
