The Aftermath
Part 2 of The Mission NOTE: Again, this is based on the oc that @v-cain Writes about. This is part 2, and I tried to make it a similar ending to the 1st HTTYD movie. So, Hopefully, you like it!
Fandom: X-men
Warnings: Swearing (probably), fighting, hurt/comfort, fire, let me know if there's more.
Pairings: (All Platonic) Logan Howlett x gn!teen!reader, Hank McCoy x gn!teen!reader, Scott Summers x gn!teen!reader, Kurt Wagner x gn!teen!reader, Jean Grey x gn!teen!reader, Jubilation Lee x gn!teen!reader, Charles Xavier x gn!teen!reader, Erik Lenhsherr x gn!teen!reader
Y/n POV
Everything hurts, that's what I notice first. Slowly I try to open my eyes. Everything blurry, and too bright. I shift in a white bed, with sheets that feel like paper. I realize that I feel heavy. white wraps around my body, some stained red others crisp and pure. I manage to get myself upright, only then getting my bearings. I'm back at the academy, In the sterile infirmary. I look to my side and notice that Logan Has scrunched himself into those tiny uncomfortable hospital chars, and fallen asleep. Without waking him, I Manage to Make my way out of the room, I decided that rest is what he needed. when he wakes up i can let him know I'm ok...
Logans POV
Goddamn, these hospital chairs. I keep telling Xavier, that we need new chairs. since there's always someone in the infirmary for one thing or another. As I'm trying to work out the knot in my shoulder I look at the bed and notice that their bed is empty...
Panic sets in as I hear rustling in the hall. I franticly make my way out and see Y/N quietly talking to a nurse,
"the hell are you doing out of bed?!" I ask with a slight tinge of panic peaking through
"i wanted to talk to the nurse, and you were sleeping." Y/N quietly says looking down.
"it's fine, you scared me is all..."
"me? i scared logan, THE wolverine?" they tease
"ok no you know what, go back to bed" i say trying to not let the smile making its way on my face too visible.
note: i will eventually make a part three....

Laying on the couch I covered my nose trying to hold in a sneeze but it didn't work and I bit my tongue instead cursing afterwards. "Son on a gun!" Footsteps entered the room revealing my boyfriend Erik. He leans in the doorway arms crossed over his chest watching me. I was curled up in a blanket sniffing since I had got a cold from somewhere at my work. "Anything I can do, Y/n. You don't look too well." He asked concern in that deep voice of his.
"Not unless you can use your powes and make me better..." I grumbled searching for the TV remote having lost it in the covers. Suddenly an object flew past my head and into his hands revealing the now found remote. "Unfortunately honey it doesn't work that way. I can only control metal. But don't worry I can still help you in other ways." He strides over sitting down beside me on the couch wrapping his strong arms around my shaking body. Without thinking I lay my head in the crook of his neck sighing in relief at the feeling. "How can you help me, Erik - you can't make me better with your mutation?" I sneezed again where he hands me a tissue softly.
He tucked some hair that was in front of my eyes behind my ear making me look into his eyes. Despite what he says about himself I don't see him as the bad guy. By some miracle a mutant and a human can find common ground in this world. "Believe it or not daring I am used to taking care of someone who is sick. After all - when my mother would fall ill I would - uh nevermind you just get some rest and when you wake I'll make you something to eat." Snuggling into his chest I closed my eyes feeling a little better just by being in Erik's embrace like this.

----
It was early on Christmas morning. Scott had woken you up at 6am and dragged you down the stairs to open presents with the rest of your friends. You decided that your present to him this Christmas was not murdering him for this act of treachery (and a small painting of Scott depicted as one of Snow White's dwarves).
You curled up on the couch with your loving dog Edo, half asleep, as everyone exchanged gifts. A pile of presents and wrapping paper were slowly building up on the floor. So far, you had received a pair of fuzzy socks that Kurt had crocheted, the Twilight book series from Jean, a Snow White colouring book from Scott, and a new glitter-pen stationery set from Jubilee. Among those gifts you also had a thick leather-bound notebook from Professor McCoy, "The Art Of War" by Sun-Tzu from Erik, and a pair of novelty dice from the Professor. You weren't sure why you got that last one but you appreciated it all the same. As the group surrounding you chattered and joked, your gaze drifted towards the door. Logan had gone on a trip a few weeks ago, with the promise of being back before Christmas. So far he had yet to make an appearance, which was worrying you, but you tried to focus your thoughts back to your friends.
----
As the day went on, you found yourself glancing over to the door every few minutes, hoping Logan would walk in at any minute. You were currently trying to distract yourself by playing with Edo outdoors in the garden, despite the freezing cold. It wasn't working as well as you had hoped, as your mind still wandered and worried about Logan. Plus, your hands were getting numb.
As you throw a ball for Edo to catch, you hear someone walking up behind you. You turn, and are greeted with the site of Erik Lenhsherr, who has a mixture of a kind look and a "What the fuck are you doing out here in the freezing cold on Christmas?" look on his face. You knew Erik pretty well, despite the fact he had only moved into the mansion a few months ago, and the pair of you shared many pleasant conversations (which were all almost entirely about philosophy, western literature and cat memes.) You turn back around and watch as Edo runs up to you, a happy expression adorning his features.
"Might I ask why you aren't inside with everyone else?" Erik asked, watching Edo drop the ball in front of you, before his gaze turns to you. You pick up the slimy ball and pelt it across the yard. You watch Edo sprint after it, then deciding to say "Just thought I should appreciate nature at it's finest, s'all." You hear Erik sigh, and you turn back around to face him. His smile was gone now, instead replaced by creased eyebrows and a downturned mouth.
Erik shifted his shoulders, pondering what he should say, then sighed again. "I know you miss Logan, Y/N." Your gaze turns to the frost tipped grass as Erik continues, "And I know it's hard not having him here with you on Christmas." Erik pauses before saying "But I also know that if Logan were here, he wouldn't want you outside in the freezing cold, especially not alone." He paused again, then simply said with a small bit of worry evident in his voice "Come back inside, Y/N." You watch as Edo drops the ball further away and chases a bird around. You bite your the inside of your cheek, thinking for a moment, before agreeing "Ok." Erik smiled and patted you on the shoulder. "I'll see you inside." He turned and started walking away, then called after him "And put some gloves on!" You huff a small laugh and then whistle for Edo to come over.
----
It was now the late evening. Most of the younger kids had gone off to bed a while ago, so the living had the older kids and some of the teachers inside. An old re-run of 'Home Alone' was playing on the crappy TV that looked like it was around longer than Logan. Edo was curled up beside the fireplace, a content look on his face. Jean and Scott were leaning against each other on the couch, talking quietly amongst themselves. Jubilee and Kurt had gone to bed as they both apparently wanted to keep on track with their "sleep schedule", and wouldn't stay up for just another half hour. What a bunch of losers, you thought as you pulled on the socks Kurt crocheted for you.
You walk out of the living room, wandering down the hall towarss the main entrance. As you round the corner, you see the door open and Logan step in, covered in snow and rain. Your once bored expression turns into one of pure glee as you shout "LOGAN!" before barrelling into the man. Logan lets out a small 'oof' as you hug him, you wings wrapped around him. He hugs you back and says in his usual gruff manner "Missed you too, kid." You release him from your death grip and grin up at him, bouncing on the balls of your feet. "I have a present for you!" Logan raises an eyebrow, but before he can question the gift, you grab his hand and start dragging him towards the living room. As you walk, you ask Logan about where he went, and what it was like, and did he see any cute dogs, and did he take any photographs. He tried to keep up with your rapid fire questioning- that he was somewhat used to, after over a year of knowing you- when you arrive in the living room.
As the rest of the room greet Logan and make conversation with him, you walk over to the far corner of the room where you stashed your present for him during the morning. You fished out the present from behind a few books, which was brightly wrapped in pink wrapping paper, and had a pink bow stuck on top. As you turned around (nearly knocking over a vase with your tail due to your enthusiasm) you caught Erik throwing a questioning look at the present. In return you stuck your tongue out at him, to which he rolled his eyes and turned back around to Charles. You walked back over to Logan, who was standing near the fireplace, and stood in front of him. Logan looked down at you and raised an eyebrow when he spotted the present.
You thrust the present into his hands before holding your own behind your back. You smiled, slightly nervous, and said cheerfully "Open it!". Logan carefully unwrapped it, to reveal a mug. He turned the mug around and read the print on it, and laughed heartily. You grinned and laughed a bit yourself. "I'll use it everyday." Logan said, smiling down at the mug. The mug in question read; 'May contain Whiskey, Vodka and/or Beer' You had found it in a novelty gift shop a few months prior and thought it was perfect for Logan.
As you two talked, Logan thought about how grateful he was to have a little brat like you in his life. Sure, you could be a pain in the ass- especially when he was trying to teach you Maths- but you were a sweet kid. He didn't know where he'd be without you, his reminder to keep going and stick around. Meanwhile, you thought about how your life had been tipped upside down like a glass of water when you first entered the school, and then how quickly it was refilled. Your life had become so much better as you built your new home, your new family, that you loved so dearly. You were eternally grateful for your family, and hoped it would stay this way forever- filled with hugs, dogs, jokes, happiness and cat memes. Though, as you were surrounded by your loved ones chattering away, you had the dreading sense of feeling it wouldn't.

Hallo Onkel Pt.1 (Magneto x fem!reader)
Author: Mare
Pairing(s): Kurt Wagner x half!sister!reader, Platonic!Uncle-like!Magneto x reader
Warning(s): Outbursts, angst, sad!reader, triggered!Erik
Requested: Yes, by anon;  Hi could I request an X-Men imagine (the original movies)? The reader is a german non mutant who looks up to the X-Men and espacially Magneto. He on the other hand doesn’t trust her due to the fact that she reminds him of everything he had to endure. The reader feeling very guilty but when she saves him or another mutant they start to bond? :)
A/N: So in order for me to write it and still stay true to the requested plot line I made the reader Kurt’s half sister. They don’t have the same father but share a mother. Remember the X-Gene is only passed down by a male, so that’s why the reader isn’t a mutant. Also I speak a fair amount of German, but I used google translate for what I don’t know. FYI Kurt’s mom is Mystique, for those who didn’t know. I didn’t want to risk expirementing with colloqualism, sorry. This is post-apocolypse. I will make a second post on Friday. Hopefully.
Y/N P.O.V
Ich kann es kaum erwarten, meinen großen Bruder zu sehen, Kurt. Und triff meine beiden Onkel. (I can’t wait to see my big brother, Kurt. And meet my two uncles.) Whoops (oops)! I forgot, Ich muss sprechen (I must speak) English. Es tut mir leid(I am sorry). My name is Y/N L/N and I am Kurt Wagner’s little sister and Mystique’s daughter. I know you are all wondering, “If your mom is American, then why don’t you speak English as your first language and Why is your surname different from your brother?” Well, to answer that. I was raised in Germany and German was all I ever knew until my mother found me in zhat concentration camp. And the other question, Kurt and I are halfsiblings
My mother, Mystique, told me about my brother, Kurt, and her friends, my Uncles, Charles Xavier and Erik Lenhsherr. I was so excited to meet them.
*Timeskip*
“Willkommen,“ I heard someone say in a distinctly American accent.
I look in the direction of the voice and see a bald man in a wheelchair, ‘This must be Uncle Charles’ I thought to myslef.
“You may call me that if you like,“ Uncle Charles said smiling warmly. “And you must be Y/N.“
I looked a lit bit frightened before I remember that mom told me that he was a telepath. I nodded in response. “I must apologize ahead of time. My english is  furchtbar(terrible).”
“It’s alright“ he states with a look of compassion, “There are some here who do speak German. So I’m sure you’ll be just fine.“
*Timeskip*
“Erik.“ my mother called as she ran into the room and hugged him around the neck.”Eric, this is my daughter, Y/N. Y/N this is your Uncle Erik.”
Mother told me he was from Germany and that he spoke the laguage so I decided to speak to him in German. Big mistake. “Hallo Onkel Erik. (Hello Uncle)”
The next thing I know the room starts to shake and metal things start to fly through the air. I try to remain calm but the storm of debris around me made that almost impossible. My mother pushed me out of the room and yelled for Uncle Charles. I felt terrible. I triggered his outburst. I’m gonna make it up to him.

Phantom Love
Erik Lenhsherr x Reader
(Word Count: 1.6k)
Tumblr media
The knock on your apartment door was frantic and jarring.
You remained perched on your window sill, staring out at the busy street. You inhaled, taking a hit from your blunt. There was a light drizzle outside, and you could feel its pull on you and you pushed back.
You made the water bend to your will, twisting and turning droplets as they fell. Never anything attention grabbing, but just enough to pass the time. As you exhaled, you pulled your knees up to your chest, and rested your head on them.
Whoever was out there wasn’t invited, and you weren’t keen on visitors at the moment.
Y/N, you know we wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t serious.
You perked up at the familiar voice in your head. You sighed at the trouble Charles Xavier would bring to your door. He was interrupting your carefully crafted solitude for his shit.
“Fuck off, Charles!” You shouted. Smoke escaped your lips and up into the air, slowly dissipating into nothing. Your eyes followed its path, staring up at your ceiling.
Charles knocked again.
“Y/N! It’s Erik!” He called out. You clicked your tongue.
Of course it was. It was always Erik. Blunt in hand, you stalked over to the door. You stared at it with all the rage and scrutiny you had in you, then haphazardly swung it open.
One hand sat on your waist as you lifted your blunt to your mouth again. Charles and Hank were waiting for you in the hallway. You let the smoke blow in their faces.
The two men coughed and sputtered as you headed deeper into your apartment without ceremony.
“Y/N. He’s taken a turn.” Hank said. You snuffed out your blunt in the ashtray.
Running a hand along the walls, you let the cool surface calm your growing anger.  You could feel the water rushing through the pipes. From there, you were connected to the complex plumbing network that made up the whole block. And the rain, too.
“I could’ve told you he was crazy as hell the day I met him.” You scoffed. You took your hand away from the wall and sat back in your chair.
Charles frowned at your callousness as he stood in the middle of your living room. All around him, your plants and art were splayed across the room, a calming ecosystem in the midst of his panicking.
“He’s joined up with someone dangerous. He’ll get himself and everyone else killed.” Charles persisted, “Let me show you.”
Your leg bounced and you rolled your tongue under your bottom lip. Something in your old friend’s face gave you pause.
“Fine.” You finally relented. You dropped your shoulders and let Charles place two fingers on your temple.
Images flashed through your mind, rapid fire. And it was worse than you could have imagined. It was Erik, well past his breaking point. His face was red and blotchy, his hair was unkempt, and his powers were in full force. The worst was watching how utterly and completely destroyed he looked. It was bottomless.
You now understand why we need your help, Y/N.
You couldn’t find the words just yet, opting for a small comfort instead. Strategically hidden in the floorboard, you pulled out a velvet box. In it, was a simple diamond ring set in a platinum band.
“What did he get into, Charles?” You asked, almost absentmindedly. The ring was on a chain, sitting in your palm. It stared back at you, laughing at the phantom love you and Erik had. You met Charles’ gaze, final and resolute.
Your expression darkened. On the right side of you, the glass vase filled with fresh calla lilies shattered into a million pieces. Water sprayed everywhere, dowsing Charles and Hank the most.
The sound sent you tumbling back into the moment— and you lifted your hand in the air. Water rose up from your apartment floor and your visitors’ wet clothes, gradually growing into a ball of water. You twisted your hand, burning the liquid off in mid-air.
“Thank you.”  Hank offered, albeit stiffly. Charles just nodded—he’d seen the full scope of your abilities before. He knew what you were capable of and that was probably the only reason he was really there.
“A mutant called Apocalypse is planning something, and Erik is playing quite the role in whatever that is.” Charles spoke at last. Your eyes cut back down to the ring, twirling it between your fingers. You swallowed hard.
“He made this ring for me himself. Asked me to marry him with it,” you started, feeling the special groves and roughness of the ring, “I love him more than anything, and I still walked.  But I’ll be damned if I spend the rest of my life picking up after him just ‘cause I love him.”
You couldn’t bite back the bitterness or the love. It was all there, all the time. You found over the years that your relationship with Erik teetered from one to the other, and you went with it every time.
“Y/N, we need your help.” Charles begged you. You put the ring back in its place. The box snapped shut. You stared blankly at it, then up at Charles and Hank.
“No.”
Your voice was barely audible and it was more felt than heard. You couldn’t. Wouldn’t. Not to Erik.
“I didn’t know all of...please, Charles, just leave.” You were shaking, uncontrollably now. The pipes roared loudly behind you.
Hank protested, and Charles said nothing at all. You could feel his steady anger pulse throughout the room. You sparked your blunt again, trying to get a light to no avail. You were grateful when it finally gave.
“I’ve shown you everything and you still refuse to act against him.” Charles spat out. The venom in his tone was harsh and unexpected.
“You’ve been warned, and whatever happens you and I know you could’ve stopped it.” He continued.
Charles gave you too much credit; he had too much faith that you could change anything. You headed back to your window sill, and turned your back to them. You heard the shuffle of feet and a door slam and then nothing.
You took another hit, hoping to be nothing, too.
                                                         …
That night, it rained harder than it had in weeks. Partly nature, partly you.
“I know they were here.”
You couldn’t look back at him to retort. It was true, and it was your apartment to begin with. Your anger surprised you, making you turn on him faster than either of you expected. You pulled a wall of water straight through the window. The glass shattered and some minor cuts appeared on your shoulder, but it didn’t matter.
You caught Erik off guard and had him pinned to the wall. He squirmed under your grip, but he could only do so much. The water reached past his neck, successfully keeping him where he was.
“If you decide to burn the world down, the only thing I’m doing is getting the hell out the way.”
The words stung coming out of your mouth, probably as much as they stung hearing them. The two of you were doing that thing you did when you broke each other’s hearts again.
You slung your bag over your shoulder. It was all you were taking with you.
“You would leave me, again.” Erik pleaded. You stopped dead in your tracks. Mesmerized, you could feel the blood pumping through his veins. Tentatively, you pressed your forehead in the crook of his neck. You pressed your lips onto his, and he craned his neck as best he could to kiss you back. He tried to put every ounce of desire he had for you in that kiss, and you did too.
Pulling away from Erik was hard to do, but you closed your eyes and did it anyway.
“When Charles Xavier shows up to my house and I have no defense, no words to give him about you. I sat up here looking like a goddamn fool and you let me.” Your gravelly voice was weak at best.
Erik couldn’t muster a reply worth shit, so he chose silence. In that, a pained expression took over his features. You ran your palm across his face, savoring the laugh lines, the ridges, the stubble. As you passed over his lips, he kissed your hand and you let him.
“I love you, Erik, and don’t you dare go around thinking I don’t. But whatever Apocalypse has given you, I hope it was worth it.” You admitted.
His eyes went wide, first with shock, then they settled on something bordering shame.
You took a deep breath, and gave Erik your back just the same as you gave it to Charles, slipping out the door and into the rainy night.

Peter Maximoff had a secret, and he didn’t know how much longer he could keep it.
When he had found out that Erik Lenhsherr was his father, he wasn’t sure how to react. He knew Erik wasn’t aware of it, and as much as he wanted to tell him, he didn’t know how to approach the topic. Especially since it seemed like his father was partially responsible for the oncoming destruction of the world.
“I’m not afraid of him.” Peter muttered to himself, pacing back and forth in the interrogation room. The mansion had exploded, and after Peter had gotten everyone out safely, he had been captured, along with you, Raven and Hank. Raven was looking around the room, evidently trying to escape, but Peter couldn’t even think about escaping.
“Hey,” your voice brought your boyfriend out of his thoughts, and you placed a gentle hand on his shoulder. “Everything will be okay, we’re going to figure out a way out of here.”
Peter looked at you, giving him such a reassuring smile that filled his chest with hope. You leaned forward to kiss his cheek, and Peter remarked, “I’m so lucky to have you.”
“I know.” you teased, before noticing Peter’s eyes dart back and forth. Tilting your head, you asked, “Is something else on your mind?”
Peter bit his lip, looking back at you. For some reason, he felt apprehensive to tell you about Erik, although he knew the two of you talked to each other about everything. He bit his lip, looking way before you insisted, “Hey, don’t push me away.”
“You’re the only person I trust.” Peter suddenly blurted, grabbing your hands, and you looked at him in surprise. “Which is... which is why I’m gonna tell you. Magneto’s my father.”
Out of all the things you had expected Peter to tell you, this was certainly the last. You gaped at him for a moment, before finally stammering, “Wh-what? Does he know?”
“No. And... and I don’t know if I should tell him.” Peter shook his head. He looked away before bitterly adding, “And he sure seems like a great guy.”
“Hey, look at me.” you cupped Peter’s face in your hands. “Tell him, don’t tell him, that’s up to you when you feel ready. But in regards to his actions, you’re not responsible for them. So don’t feel bad, okay?”
Peter nodded, feeling light a weight had been lifted off his chest as you reached for his hand and squeezed it. Nodding at him, you continued, “Now, let’s figure a way out of here.”

Two - We're not Alone
Tumblr media
Battle of the Mind and Heart
Part 3
Tags - send me a ask to be added @aintinacage @mostlymarvelgirl
Erik and I had left and traveled to another spot where he had gotten information on some more Nazi’s that were still alive. I didn’t agree with what he was doing but I somewhat understand why he was so frustrated and wanted blood. Walking through the hot streets he opened the door and let me inside first. “How much longer are we going to do this, Lehnsherr?”
“You can leave anytime you want.” He responded reaching for the door handle not saying another word until we were inside the bar.
“Afternoon, gentlemen. Hot out there.” Erik sat down on a barstool hanging his white hat and jacket on a hook. “Beer, please. German bear. Of course.”
“Yes, it’s bitburger. You like it?” One of the men that was wearing a yellow shirt responded by eyeing me with a smirk on his face. “You got yourself quite a fine lady there.”
Shifting around on my barstool I corrected the man. “Oh no. We’re not together.”
“Well then maybe I can buy you another round.” He suggested with a cocky smile.
Erik turned around putting one hand on my hip and I could tell that his grip was more intense than it should have been. “Don’t lie to the men, darling. She’s just trying to be nice, gentleman.”
“I-“ I started to say something but decided against it.
“What brings you to Argentina?” Erik picked up his beer, drinking it slowly before he asked the two men sitting at the table.
“The climate. I'm a pig farmer.” One guy wearing yellow drank his beer.
The other guy in a white shirt spots up. “Tailor. Since I was a boy. My father made the finest suits in Dusseldorf.”
“My parents were from Dusseldorf.” Erik got to his feet and went sitting down at the table with the pair.
The white shirt man asked. “Ah. What was their name?”
“They didn't have a name. It was taken away from them…” The mutant who could control metal raised his beer glass and clinked it with each of theirs. “By pig farmers...And tailors.”
Raising my glass to my mouth I took a long drink being able to feel the tense that was in the bar. The bartender stared at me silently while I tapped the fingers of my freehand on the table. “Three…two…one.” I mumbled under my breath glancing over my shoulder seeing him turn over his arm and show the pair the nazi numbers they gave him.
The man that wore a yellow shirt moved his freehand downward where I clicked my tongue. “Tsk not smart dude.” He attempted to stab Erik but he managed to grab the blade and hold his arm down on the table with his other hand.
“Blood and honor.” Erik glared at the man, reading the words engraved on the blade. “Which would you care to shed first?”
The man whispered back. “We were under orders…”
Erik declared stabbing the man in the hand and he screamed, alerting the bartender to rush to the back and come back with a handgun. “Blood then.”
“Freeze, asshole.”
The other guy got to his feet telling the bartender. “Come on, shoot.”
Downing the rest of my beer I quickly moved behind the bartender who didn’t have enough time to stop me. Raising my hands to the sides of his head my hands turned red and he winced sharply. “Argh!”
Erik used his power making the guy move the handgun and pulled the trigger on the other guy who was standing. “Nice trick, Shaw girl.”
“You know my name, Lehnsherr!” I grumbled removing my hands from the man’s head when he still held his head and lowered himself to his knees while I stood behind him.
He didn’t respond at first and rather focused on the men. The knife left the guy's hand and stabbed the bartender in the gut. Then it came back into Erik’s hand and he stabbed the blade into the Nazi’s hand again. The man screamed, whimpering. “Who... what are you?”
“Let's just say I'm Frankenstein's monster.” Erik ran a hand through his hair getting up and standing in front of the picture of my father before he turned around and shot the guy still alive at the table. “And I'm looking for my creator.”
Bending myself down on a knee I noticed the handgun that had fallen to the floor. Picking it up the bartender was crying with blood before I held the weapon out for Erik. “Here you do it. I’m not going to kill somebody.”
“You’re infuriating, Addison.” He takes it from my smaller hand compared to his larger one.
He turned slightly to the guy with the knife in his hand and he fired the trigger causing me to cover my ears when the weapon went off. “Say that about yourself - ah!”
Heading towards the door I ran my hands over the fabric of the gray short sleeve shirt I wore. I had paired it with some Jeans and some brown boots. Tying my hair up in a ponytail since it was so hot there. Exiting the bar I almost made it to the car trying to open the door but it shut the second I got it opened. “Seriously, what are you five or something?”
“I’m the same as you. But you seem to be acting like one right now. You refuse to accept that you aren’t cut out for this and you won’t tell me what your power truly is.” He rolled his eyes.
Throwing my arms away from my sides I snapped. “Maybe because you haven’t proven you are trustworthy!”
“I have been letting you tag along with me this whole time who could have killed you a long time ago.” The German man snapped at me. “So what are you bringing to this partnership?”
Flaring my nose I huffed not wanting to hear another snarky remark from him. “How about you tell me, Metal man cause from where I stand I haven’t been much help to your mission.”
“I would say it’s because I enjoy your company but that wouldn’t be true.” Erik smirked down dryly. Yet unknown to either of them at the time that would be so close to the truth that we wouldn’t believe it later down the road.
Showing him the finger I just started stomping away not being able to stand his face anymore. “Goodbye Erik Lehnsherr. Hopefully your revenge plan is worth it!”
“What if I helped you find out why your mother left.” He blurted out causing me to halt in my boots. Slowly focusing my attention back to him I formed my hands into fists at my sides just staying still for a brief moment.
My father would never talk about my mother. I just knew that she left when I was younger. So finding out why was really important to me. She was just as valuable as Erik’s mother was to him, so how could I refuse. “If I help you find my father then you’ll find out what happened to my mother.”
“Yes, I will.” He vowed with those deep eyes of his that I sometimes found myself getting lost in. All the while I had to fight myself and not imagine what it would be like to kiss him or how attractive he was.
It was a few weeks before we had traveled to the most current location that my father was supposed to be at. It was a boat somewhere in America. Erik had slipped on a diving suit and I had one on as we snuck onto the boat. Hiding around the corner Erik drew a knife moving around the corner about to strike my father until there was a blonde woman with him that turned to glass and he held his head in pain. “Little Erik lensherr.”
The blonde declared. “He's here to kill you.”
“What kind of a greeting is that...After all these years?” My father tilted his head upwards, being able to sense that someone else was there with them. “It's rude to join a conversation, Addison.”
Slowly coming around the corner I clasped my hands together in front of me. “Hello father.”
Erik grabbed the knife from inside his suit and launched it towards Shaw's chest. But the blonde that quickly turned her body into crystal grabbed it. She ran forward and threw him over the side of the ship. “Erik!”
“Emma. We don't harm our own kind.” My father taunts her.
Emma glanced in my direction. “What about her?”
“She's my daughter. I'm surprised to see you after all this time. How have you been-”
He went to touch my face but I snagged his wrist harshly in my nails and he winced seeing my hand turn red taking some of his power. “Don’t pretend like you care about me now.”
“Ah! What the…you're like me.” He gasped and I could see amazement flash through his eyes until we heard a boat horn coming towards us. “Ah! Now it's a party.”
“This is the US coast guard. Do not attempt to move your vessel. Stay where you are.” Someone from the guard ships called out. There was another mutant working with my father who used wind and drowned some guys on smaller boats who were coming towards our boat.
Noticing the knife on the ground I quickly pick it up seeing Emma and my father have their backs to me. “You can do this, Addi.” I whispered to myself attempting to run up and press the blade to my father’s neck.
Yet the blonde spun around holding me by the throat and I dropped the knife clawing her arm for breath. “Nice try. Which would you prefer? My way or the water.”
“Urgh!” I croaked through the discomfort.
My father grabbed her shoulder. “Let her go, Emma. We need to go.” She launched me over the side of the ship and I hugged my knees to my chest before I got merged into the cold water.
Blinking my eyes open I held my breath hoping someone would figure out that Erik and I were in the water. Looking around I almost gasped seeing a sub coming out the bottom of the ship meaning that my father was getting away. Yet the sub wasn't going far and then my eyes shifted to the end of it and saw Erik swimming and using his power to hold the sub from leaving. Swimming over to him I could see he was having a hard time right before someone jumped down into the water right behind him. “You can't. You'll drown. You have to let go. I know what this means to you, but you're going to die. Please, Erik, calm your mind.”
I held in a gasp hearing someone’s voice inside my mind before he managed to drag Erik up to the surface. Kicking my legs and arms I released a sharp gasp getting my head above water. “Get off me! Get off!” Erik pushed the stranger off of him.
“Calm down! Just breathe. We're here!” The stranger hollered clearly back to the coast guard ships.
Erik gasped, splashing to keep his head above water. “Who are you? “
“My name is Charles Xavier.” The man with brown hair and bright blue eyes introduced himself.
Kicking my legs I eyed Charles as he called himself in awe. “What made you think it was a good idea to jump into freezing water like that?”
“I couldn't let either of you drown. Especially when there was something I could do to rescue you.” He explained with a smile.
The man who said he hated me questioned the man. “You were in my head. How did you do that?”
“You have your tricks, I have mine. I'm like you. Just calm your mind.” Charles said seeing the guard getting closer to the three of us.
Erik breathed out. “I thought I was alone.”
That sentence made me both sad and annoyed at him. ‘What am I invisible or something’ I thought to myself not caring if Charles could read my mind.
“You're not alone. Erik, you're not alone.” Charles declared shifting his attention over to me. “What's your name, love?”
I thought about saying my full name but decided not to. “Addi…Addi Shaw.” The guard ships finally reached us and we all got back on the ship and into some dry clothes. I changed into some dark jeans, some black boots and white sweater. I finished tying only two strands of my hair back with a clip and left the rest down. Charles had introduced me and Erik to a CIA guy and girl. He also had a sister who said her name was Raven but I didn't know her mutation yet. “Welcome to my facility. My mission has been to investigate the application of paranormal powers in military defense.” The CIA man explained when we all got out of the limo car.
Erik corrected the man walking beside Charles. “Or offense.”
“This guy Shaw, schmidt, whatever you want to call him,
He's working with the Russians.” The man kept explaining why he had called us in. “We might need your help to stop him.”
Charles clasped his hands together. “Marvelous. So we're to be the CIA's new mutant division, yes?”
“Something like that.” The CIA responded, leading the others inside and leaving the three of us outside for a moment.
Erik passed, eyeing me silently before Charles raised a brow in my direction, curious. “Addi, I was just wondering what relationship do you have with this guy Shaw?”
“He's my…He’s my father.” I sucked in a breath seeing Charles part his lips in shock, and we didn't say another word and headed inside with the others.

21 - Lehnsherr Revenge

Battle of Heart and Mind
Tag list - ask to be added (in my ask box please) @aintinacage @hiraethrhapsody @mostlymarvelgirl @importantgalaxyrunaway
Shrugging on a red leather jacket paired with a gray tea shirt and dark blue jeans with boots. Tying my hair in a French braid going down my back I just stared at myself in the bathroom mirror. “The baby…they would have been a mutant like me and sissy.”
Ryder’s words were still buzzing around in my mind. Lowering a hand to my stomach I felt tears welling in my eyes thinking of my baby. Gripping the sink underneath my fingertips I sucked in a sharp and shaky breath hearing footsteps come across the creaky wooden floor. “Addison?”
“I just need a minute, Erik.” I tremble out a response with him standing in the doorway wearing a different change of clothes like me.
His gaze lifted up from the floor watching me. “Take your time. I just got the twins in the car.”
“Did you tell Charles we are dropping them off?” My eyes held focus on the mirror. Dropping one hand to my stomach I gripped the fabric of my shirt between my fingers still feeling the baby in me even though that wasn't the case.
My husband stepped up behind me unsure what the right thing was to do for me. Anyway he still wrapped his arms around me from behind, his chin resting on my shoulder. “Don't worry about that right now. Besides, he's a telepath. He'll figure it out.”
“I never thought this would happen to us. I…I never had a reason to want those people dead. Until they…they killed our baby.” Spinning my body around to face his front I couldn't stop the tears when I looked him in the eye.
He was no stranger to harsh and personal loss, but I was. My father Shaw and I weren't really close but this baby was a part of me. “Addi, come here. We're gonna be okay.”
“How are we going to be okay?” I sobbed into his shirt clutching the fabric in between my fingers.
Erik remained silent, unsure how to answer. “I'm not sure yet. But we'll figure it out.” The pair just remained holding one another until they both believed it was out of their system at least for a few hours until something triggered the horrible memory again.
The drive to the factory wasn't far from our house. Erik put the car in park looking into the backseat at the twins. “You have to be good and do exactly what you're mother tells you too. Do you understand?”
“Yes daddy.” Astraea nodded.
Ryder gave a thumbs up. “Yeah.”
“Are you sure you want to do this still, Addison?” Erik shifted in his seat sending her a weak look.
Reaching across the dash I intertwined my hand in his. “They deserve it, Erik.” We got out of the car and slowly walked into the factory. Erik closed the metal door with his mind causing everyone to turn their attention towards the two of us.
“Some of you spoke to the police... about what you believe you witnessed here yesterday. You want to know my powers... know who I am... see what I can do? I'll show you.” Erik began speaking, never removing my hand from his. “Think of the person you love most in your life. Your wife. Mother. Daughter. Son….unborn child Now that person will know what it is to lose someone they love. And live with that pain. Forever.”
One of the workers spoke. “Henryk, please. Don't do this.”
“My name isn't Henryk. My name is Magneto…Addison.” He answered him back watching me step forward turning our hands red taking his power.
Stepping forward away from him, my hands clutching into fists at my sides. “Invidia!” Raising my hands out in front of me and shooting my power towards the men.
The workers grabbed their heads crying out when the metal helmets they wore began crunching around their heads. I waved one of my hands, launching them up into the air and then slammed them down into the ground. The metal wires coming up out of the dirt, wrapping around them. Erik watched me with a smirk on his face making the men who wronged us both suffer.
“Who the fuck are you?” Erik could feel someone standing behind us so he glanced over his shoulder coming to see a guy with dark blue skin and covered in warriors type armor.
“I’m here for you.” The stranger answered.
Erik quickly turned his head telling me to run. “Get out of here. I’ll find you if he can be trusted.” Bolting out of the factory to the car I ran out of there with the kids in the backseat asleep. The drive was long before Erik texted me saying we should go along with the stranger and whatever plan he had.
Parking the car in the driveway of the school I nudged each twin, waking them up. Holding my hands with the two I walked them inside in search of Xavier’s main office. Some kids ran past us before I saw a wheelchair go into one of the rooms telling me where he was. Entering the office room the familiar professor lifted his head up from the papers he had scattered on the desk. “Addi! Astraea, Ryder. It’s good to see you. I wasn’t expecting a visit.”
“Sorry to just drop in unannounced. We weren’t exactly planning on coming without telling you beforehand.” I apologized to my friend.
Charles raised a hand not offended. “Don’t apologize, love. Is Erik with you too?”
“Mommy left him at his work.” Ryder piped up standing by his twin sister.
Charles knitted his brows. “I’m afraid I’m not following.”
“Kiddos, how about you go to your rooms here and get settled while I talk with your uncle Charles. I’ll find you before we get some food.” Bending down on a knee I pushed the kids out the door so we could talk privately. I didn’t wish for them to know what was really going on.
Once the office door was shut Charles spoke up. “Addi, please tell me what is going on.” I knew he could read my mind to know the answer but he was still polite about it.
“I was pregnant, Charles. Until I lost it.” I sniffed through some heavy tears that had begun falling down my face.
Charles raised a hand to his mouth. “Oh Addi. I’m so sorry. How…how did it happen if you don’t mind me asking?”
“A handful of policemen were killed by Erik after one of them accidentally fired an arrow into my stomach. I…I lost it a few seconds after I pulled the arrow out.” I sniffed wrapping my arms around myself for comfort.
Charles rolled up closer to me in his wheelchair. “But you’re perfectly fine now. How is that possible?”
“Ryder can heal people. He is a mutant like we were speculating. He actually has more than one ability.” I trailed off tucking hair behind my ear. “He can sense other mutants…the baby would have been one is what he told me and Erik.”
Charles tilted his head grasping my freehand in his giving me a soft look. “Addi, my love. I’m sorry for your loss.”
“Thank you. But I came here to ask you a favor.”
He answered without hesitation. “Ask me anything.”
“Could you watch the twins for a little while. Erik and I have some things to take care of but I don’t want them being around us while we finish our tasks.” I questioned the telepath professor.
He nodded in agreement. “Of course I can. In fact there’s no one in your old room. You can spend the night here if you wish before you return back to him.”
“I appreciate that. Thanks.” I squeezed his hand seperaing to go find my old room while he returned to grading his students papers. Night had come down on the old Xavier mansion faster than ever in my opinion. I had settled the twins down to sleep over an hour ago. Laying down underneath the covers of the bed I heard my phone vibrate on the nightstand. Picking up my phone I saw that Erik had texted me the details of the strange man.
Erik - He wants to have us both help him with his plans. How are the kids
Me - They are asleep now. I’ll make the drive back there tomorrow.
Erik - He says that he has someone who can locate you for him. Just stay at the house and we’ll come in.
Me - sounds suspicious. Just make sure he won’t hurt our kids
Erik - will do, Addison. Love you
Me - love you too

4 - Second Chances Can Happen
Tumblr media
Part 5
Battle of Heart and Mind
Tag list - ask to be added (in my ask box please) @aintinacage @hiraethrhapsody @mostlymarvelgirl @importantgalaxyrunaway
Erik gets out of the car first with Charles getting out on the other side. I slid out behind the boys seeing Raven and the other mutant kids were sitting outside the somewhat destroyed CIA building. “Raven?”
“We've made arrangements for you to be taken home immediately.” Charles explained to the teenagers.
The boy who could control the sound like a banshee spoke. “We're not going home. He's not going back to prison.”
“He killed Darwin.” The guy named Alex added on.
“All the more reason for you to leave. This is over.” Charles responded.
Raven eyed her brother. “Darwin's dead, Charles. And we can't even bury him.”
Standing beside Erik I crossed my arms over my chest. I glanced up to him the second he entered the conversation. “We can avenge him.”
“Erik, a word, please.” Charles walked over to us and I followed the pair off to the side. “They're just kids.”
Erik disagreed. “No. They were kids. Shaw has his army, we need ours.”
“Erik, they can’t fight against my father. They aren’t strong enough to face him.” I shook my head at him not seeing how this plan would work. My father was a very powerful mutant compared to even me and Erik, possibly even Charles.
“Charles said that we can be stronger as a team, Addison. You saw his plan to destroy the world. I may want him dead but we can face him better than the CIA can.” He shifted his attention to mine and I sighed knowing he made a good point.
“We'll have to train. All of us. Yes? Yeah.” Charles sighed once I gave him a head nod yes so he turned to the kids.
Hank the kid with different feet shrugged his shoulders. “Well, we can't stay here. Even if they reopen the department, it's not safe. We've got nowhere to go.”
“Yes, we do.” Charles declared before we all got into the limo and drove until we ended up outside a large castle looking building. Tucking some hair behind my ear I hang my mouth open, never seeing a place this nice.
This is yours?” The banshee kid said.
Charles replied. “No, it's ours.”
“Honestly, Charles. I don't know how you survived, living in such hardship.” Erik joked to his friend.
Raven pushed through the boys and Charles kissed her head when he threw an arm over her shoulder. “Well, it was a hardship softened by me. Come on. Time for the tour.”
Erik and I remained standing outside while the others went inside the mansion. Shoving my hands inside the pockets of my coat I lifted my head up at him. “What exactly are you getting us into here?”
“Charles made a good point. It can’t just be you and I going after him like I previously planned.” He shrugs his shoulders back in response.
Reaching up my fingers began lazily without real thought I started spinning the metal necklace in thought. “That may be the case, Erik. I just don’t think we should face him unless we have an organized team. Otherwise we won’t make it out alive.”
“You don’t have to worry about that happening, Addison. Now that I know what you can do we have a better chance of beating him.” He reassured me offering his right hand and I placed my hand in his letting him lead me inside the building.
It had been a few weeks since we had all got settled into the Xavier mansion. Charles was insistent on training every single one of us. Raven was down in the lab room with Hank. The other boys were somewhere else leaving me on my own. Walking through one of the outside doors and out onto the balcony I got a view of Charles aiming a handgun at Erik’s forehead. “You’re sure?”
“I’m sure.” The man you could say was my friend replied.
“Alright…” Charles shut his eyes taking a breath but he lowered the gun backing out. “No, no, I can’t. I’m sorry. I can’t shoot anybody point blank, let alone my friend.”
Erik grabbed the gun, putting it back against his forehead. “Oh, come on. You know I can deflect it. You’re always telling me I should push myself.”
“If you know you can deflect it then you’re not challenging yourself. Whatever happened to the man who was trying to raise the submarine?” Charles asked him to lower the firearm.
Erik takes the gun from his hand. “I can’t…something that big. I need the situation, the anger…”
“The anger is not enough.” The telepath shook his head.
Resting my chin in the palm of my hand I just kept listening in on their conversation. “It’s gotten the job done all this time.” Erik responds not knowing any difference.
“It’s nearly gotten you killed all this time.” Charles nods, glancing over in my direction, calling me from my trance. “Addi, come down here. You two can train together on this.”
Running down the stairs I met up with the pair at the fence with a big satellite. Dropping my hands at my sides, my hair was in a ponytail that fell over my shoulder. “What do you need me for, Xavier?”
“I want to prove to you both that there is more than pain and darkness for either of you.” Charles extended his hand to me so I lopped my hand through his. He winced a little seeing our hands turn red taking some of his abilities. “Calm your mind, Addi.”
Sucking in a breath we entered Erik’s mind and saw a memory of his mother and him with a birthday cake. Meaning it was his birthday. Shutting my eyes I wiped away some tears. “I….I didn't know I still had that.” Erik croaked his voice blinking through tears.
“There's so much more to you than you know. Not just pain and anger. There's good too, I felt it.” Charles declared to his friend proudly. “And when you can access all that. You'll posse a power no one can match. Not even me.”
Raising a brow at him. “Charles, I don't think that your right. I don't technically have physical power of my own.”
“It doesn’t matter whether you have your own power or not. Addi, it's all up here that matters the most.” The telepath raised his freehand up to the temple of my forehead. “Mind over matter couldn’t be more true for you and Erik.”
Blinking through some tears my eyes found his soft baby blues. “So you don't think I'm broken…or a monster?”
“Heavens no, dear girl. You are far too hard on yourself.” He shook his head placing his hands on my shoulders.
Lowering my gaze to my feet my mind told me differently when I looked at Erik who had stepped off to the side. “I don't mean to be…it's just what I've heard for years.” Charles knitted his brows together slightly glancing over to his friend.
“Addi, I'll find you later for training Alright.” Charles patted my shoulder, sending me on my way.
Nodding, I walked off leaving the boys alone again. “Okay.”
“You're entirely too hard on her, my friend.” Charles muttered watching the blonde girl turn around the corner meaning she wouldn't hear the next part of their conversation.
Erik whipped his head around stunned. “What are you talking about, Charles?”
“I’m speaking the truth to you. She is far too much of a nice person to have you treat her this way.” He explained to his friend.
The metal man rolled his eyes. “We are not having this conversation again!”
“You don’t wish to have this conversation because you know that I am right about how you are feeling. You do feel guilty about your actions and you just won’t admit it, my friend.” Charles points his index finger at Erik speaking very clearly yet calmly to not anger him too much.
Erik sighed heavily, kicking some of the gravel with his shoe. “What do you want me to do, Charles? Hmm forget what her father did to my family. Forget what he did to me all because there may be a tiny part of me that wants to see her differently.”
“I…I’m asking that you give her a chance. A chance of you sitting with her and getting to see that she isn’t like her father.” His friend says back.
Erik raised a brow curious. “If you’re so persistent in giving her a chance, why don’t you just show me the memories you have of her inside your head?”
“Because if I did that it wouldn’t have the same effect.”
“I wouldn’t have guessed Charles Xavier had a flair for the dramatic.” Erik chuckled dryly.
Charles shook his head in disagreement. “It is not dramatic, my friend. And I don’t like using my powers on others when they can make the right decisions on their own. I know you can do just that.”
“I’ll consider giving her a chance, old friend.” He replied spinning on his heels walking away from him, deciding to go in search of Addison.
Walking through the hallways of the mansion thinking back on what Charles had said earlier. He made a good point in saying that we all had light inside of us even if we can’t see it for ourselves. My boots creaked on the floor when a thought ran through my mind ‘What will kill the humans will only make us stronger’
“Why didn’t I see it before I ever met Erik? I mean I should have seen it right unless I’m stupid or something. Ah!” I winced feeling some energy coursing through my veins making me halt in my tracks seeing the lights flickering for some reason. Pressing my back against the wall I take a few deep breaths trying to calm my nerves. “Oh geez what is happening right now. This has never happened before…”
Footsteps could be heard coming around the corner where I slid my body down the wall hugging my knees to my chest hearing someone softly calling my attention. “Addison, is something wrong?”
“Uh no. I’m…I’m fine.” I quickly wiped my sleeve under my nose in an attempt to get rid of the tears that were beginning to fall.
Erik’s cold eyes shifted downward to me as he stepped closer to stand above me. “You don’t seem fine, Addison. I don’t think I’ve ever seen you cry if I'm being honest about it.”
“Well I’m not crying, Lehnsherr.” I huffed wrapping my arms tighter around my knees.
He lowers himself down on a knee moving his hand forward brushing hair behind my ear. “You don’t have to lie to me, Addison. Now I can clearly see something is bothering you so let me help.”
“Help me how?” I questioned him through a sniffer feeling my hands shaking where my power was just dying to be let out.
Erik raised himself to stand and offered his right hand down to me. “You clearly need a release so that’s what we are going to do.”
“A release…I’ve never even kissed anyone.” My face turned red at the thought of covering my face in my hands. “Oh crap. I shouldn’t have told you that.”
Erik smirked lightly but still held out his hand for me. “I was thinking we would do that. I’m just wanting to help you, Shaw girl. So just take my hand.”
“Okay, what did you have in mind?” Placing my hand in his larger one he tugged me to stand where our chests were so close together.
Our eyes met and he answered in an almost whisper leading me outside the back of the mansion towards the woods treeline. “You’ll just have to wait and see, Addison.” Neither of them knew that Raven was watching from around the corner with a smile on her face seeing the pair leaving together.

Inside the Mansion
Raven scurried her way through her home in search of her brother. She knew that he would want to hear what she had just seen between Addi and Erik in the hallway. She paused in her steps outside of the kitchen seeing him sitting at the kitchen table. “There you are. I have something interesting to tell you.”
“What do you want to tell me, Raven?” He asked his sister sipping from his cup of tea he had made.
She crossed the kitchen sitting across from him. “It’s about Erik and Addi.”
“What about them?” He sits the tea cup down on the table.
The blonde hit her hands on the table. “She was getting emotional over something and he found her like that. He offered her some form of help and they went outside together.”
“Why is this bringing you so much excitement?” Charles asked his sister to avoid reading her mind to get the answer. He promised her that he would never read her thoughts.
She gasped, hitting her hands on the table, baffled at the question he just asked her. “Are you serious? Have you not been able to see the chemistry between them?”
“I…I suppose not.” He stuttered.
She tilted her head to the side. “You haven’t been able to see the chemistry between them for a different reason. You have your own feelings for her don’t you?”
“I didn’t say anything like that-“
Raven shakes her head at him. “But it’s written all over your face. I don’t have to be a telepath to figure that out.”
“Raven, I love you. But you are being ridiculous.”
“No I’m not. You have feelings for her and I want to know why.” She pressured him.
Charles ran a hand through his curly brown hair sighing. “If I had any feelings for Addi it has to do with the way Erik treats her. He calls her a monster based on who her father is. So I wish he would get to know the real her.”
“Yeah I know he isn’t that nice. He seems closed off like he has lost a lot.”
He nodded, sighing heavily. “He’s suffered at the hands of some very bad humans. In one of the most terrible moments in the history of mankind. He lost his father…and his mother. All at the hands of Sebastian Shaw.”
“Because he’s Addi’s father. That must be hard on her. Having someone compare you to someone bad without even giving you a chance to prove you're not like that person.” The girl who could change into anyone she saw responded.
Charles took a drink from his cup. “It is indeed…maybe you are onto something with seeing them going off somewhere privately together.”
“What do you mean?”
He began explaining. “I mean a few weeks ago I don’t think either of them could imagine being alone together without them sitting in a room in dead silence. But if tonight works out then we might be onto something.”
“Where they are on track of maybe getting together as a couple.” Raven smiled in her brother's direction.
He made a grunt noise underneath his breath. “Or simply just where they get along with one another.”
“Sorry but the idea of Addi and Erik as a couple sounds better than them just being a good pair. We should all become family after this whole fighting Shaw and saving the world thing.”
He smiled at her. “Yes. We should hope that there doesn’t happen to be a war at all.”
“You want to be a part of the human world. Do you think that Addi would agree with you?” She questioned her brother.
He leans back in his chair silently staring at her. “I’m not entirely sure just yet. She has to learn to accept herself and her powers first. Otherwise it’s unclear what life path she wants to go down.”
“Well I’m going to see if I can peek in on their conversation.” The young mutant girl got to her feet heading to leave the kitchen.
Charles warned his younger sister. “Leave them be, Raven!”
“I love you, Charles.” She called back and he picked up his cup again finishing what was left inside it. He shook his head praying that she didn’t interfere with their conversation if she found out where Erik and Addi had run off too.
Addi’s pov
The sun had set and we hadn’t stopped walking through the woods. I wasn’t familiar with the grounds that belonged with the Xavier mansion. My boots crunched leaves underneath and I felt the wind blow through my hair. I shifted my gaze in front of me with Erik walking a few steps in front of me. It baffles me at the moment that he had offered to help me. He didn’t seem like the helpful type. “Erik, not that I don’t appreciate the offer. But what is your plan?”
“I can see that your mind is fighting against you. So I am going to help you with it before you explode half the mansion.” He responded back to me still walking until we could no longer see the school from where we were.
I made a disgusted face at his remark. “I am not on the verge of destroying the mansion. You don’t even know what I can do.”
“And apparently neither do you, Addison. I know where the source of my power comes from. I know what I can do with it. You need to learn the same about yourself.” He paused in his steps slightly, turning his body back towards me.
Staring at the man in front of me. “Oh really and how are you going to teach me?”
“Charles has tried to make us believe that it’s all in our heads. And that the mind is more powerful than anything. That’s great when you’re a telepath but we aren’t. So we're doing this my way.” He explained it to me.
Nodding my head I followed his actions where we kept walking forward a few good steps before he turned around gently shifting me in front of him by grabbing my shoulders. “Woah what are-” I cut myself short feeling his front pressing against my back.
I could feel his breath in my ear causing me to suck in a breath feeling my face turning red at how close we were. “Do you know that bubble that is constantly on the verge of popping?”
“Maybe. What's the point?” I mumbled under my breath.
He whispered in my ear squeezing my shoulders that he was gently touching my arms sending a shiver through my body. “The point is I'm telling you to let it pop. Let that built up energy inside of you all be loose.”
“Are you sure about this?” I questioned hearing him take a step away from me.
“Scream as loud as you can. I would never joke about this.” He nodded, putting his hands in the pockets of his jacket. “Yes I'm sure. Let it all out, Addison.”
“Okay Addison…” Sucking in a breath I closed my eyes feeling my mind spinning a mile a minute. I haven't ever been able to just let my power go loose. But it wasn't helping that Erik was standing behind me watching what I was about to do. Clutching my hands to fists at my sides where I raised my hands just screaming out directly in front of me. The trees that were in front of me suddenly got bent and broken into pieces at the Impact of my power that I had. My hair flies back behind me and the leaves with twigs on the ground got thrown up in the sky.
Erik silently watched the situation before him in awe. Memories of what Shaw had turned him into crossed his mind. He knew what it felt like to have all your emotions build up inside you and the only way to fix it was to let all those emotions out. At this moment he admitted to himself that they might be more alike than he originally thought. Charles wanted to see the good but they each were broken a little by the design that was thrown their way.
I don't know how long I was screaming for exactly. But when I opened my eyes I couldn't believe what I had done in front of us. The ground was broken up, all the trees were turned into broken splinters, yet overall I felt better than I did a few hours ago after training with Charles. Slowly spinning around on my feet with hair had fallen in front of my eyes with me staring at Erik from a distance. “How do you feel now?” He asked me slowly, striding up to me.
“I…uh…I think I actually feel better. Is this how you feel all the time when you need a release?” I released a breath feeling my heartbeat slowly down.
The metal mutant clicked his tongue. “Typically when I get a release it ends up with certain people dead that ruined my family. But the moment of calm you feel Yes I do get that sometimes.”
“Hopefully Charles won't be upset that I destroyed his yard.” Looking around it appears that a tornado went off around here.
He shrugged his shoulders. “Don't worry about it. How else are we supposed to learn?”
“I suppose you're right.” I paused tilting my head to the side at him. “So why did you really invite me out here? I know you don’t care whether I destroy Xavier's house or not. There's another reason here which is odd because I thought you hated me.”
He blinked his eyes at me a couple of times letting the wind be the only sound that we could hear. “I never said that I hated you, Addison.”
“But you haven't been very friendly with me in the past.” Reaching inside the front of my shirt I drew out the metal coin necklace dangling it in front of his face. “The only thing that tells me you might not hate me is that you gave me this. I know that you despise this coin for what it represents, the worst day of your life.”
Erik nodded his head slowly, he took a long one step stride almost closing the whole gap between us. “I'm not good with words like Charles. But I am certain that I can't hate you like I hate your father.”
“Then what do you feel for me, Erik?” I dared to ask the question in the pit of my stomach.
He remained standing there just staring me up and down. He hated feeling uncertain about this. He knew that his life had only been filled with death and pain. He considered saying that she was a tiny bit of light in his life. “I don't know what to feel. The only thing I do know is that if I hated you I wouldn't do this.”
“Do what, Erik?” I gasped, getting cut off and taken by surprise with him closing the gap that remained between us. He cupped my face in his hands, smashing his lips down onto mine since I was just a little shorter than he was. My hands unclenched from my sides and flew up into his hair tugging on it because otherwise I was sure what to do.
I hadn't ever kissed anyone before and I doubt he had either. Since I assumed he hadn't he clearly didn't show that he had no experience. He tilted my head a little bit and kissed me deeply. I did my best to kiss him back, moving my arms around his neck bringing him closer to me. “I thought I could hate you, Addi. But…turns out I can't.”
“You’re not a bad kisser, Erik. And I…I'm glad you can't hate me.” I mumbled where he broke the kiss resting his forehead against mine.
He responded in a whisper. “You’re not a bad kisser either, Addison.”

One - The Man Who Can Control Metal
Tumblr media
Battle of the Mind and Heart
Part 2
Tags - just send me an ask to be added @aintinacage
I am not sure how to really ever start the first chapter of my books. I hope I can figure out the dynamic. I want these two to go in at some point. If you have any tips on how that should go, dm me 👍
Germany, Poland 1944
Sliding on my black combat boots I pushed my hair out of my face. Standing up front the desk chair I was sitting in I could hear my father's footsteps coming closer down the hallway. I tied my hair up in a ponytail hearing the office door finally open revealing my father. He had dark brown hair and bright green eyes. Yet I resemble my mother overall with bright blue eyes and blonde hair. “Addison, you're coming to work with me today.”
“Alright whatever for?” I asked knowing that he normally kept me out of his work. Always saying it would be far too much for me to handle.
He fixed the top part of his jacket, sending me a half smirking yet proud smile. “There's someone very interested I'd like you to meet.” He headed out the door immediately and I was quick to follow his heels, he never cared for me if I was dragging along behind him.
We moved up and down some stairs then through a couple of different rooms until we entered an office and he shut the door behind me. He sat down in the chair behind the desk and I just decided to lean against the side before the door opened once more. Two soldiers enter, leading a young boy that looks to be my age of fourteen years old. “What is going on, father?”
“This boy was supposed to be going to the camps until he had a disagreement with some of the men. He bent a metal fence almost in half. He's not ordinary, my dear daughter.” My father almost sounded proud of such a feet.
Shifting my gaze to the young boy he avoided my gaze and watched the floor. “What's your name?”
“Erik…Erik Lehnsherr.” He paused in his answer. “I want to see my mother.”
Glancing over my shoulder I shiver asking the question. “Where's his mother?”
“That needn't be your concern, daughter. She is where she is supposed to be and he will see her again once he shows me what he can do.” My father picked up a bell out of the desk and the guards opened the door revealing a woman who Erik ran to, meaning it must be his mother. My father took out a handgun explaining. “Here’s what we’re going to do. I’m going to count to three…and you’re going to move the coin. You don’t move the coin, I pull the trigger.”
“Dad, no. You can’t!” I attempted to grab the gun from him but he had the two guards by the door grab me and pin me down on my knees and just watch. “One….two….three.”
Erik couldn’t move the coin and I cried out watching his mother get shot. Yet the young boy didn’t dare turn around before he bent the bell and the metal cabinet. Throwing my elbow backwards into one of the guards they tried to grab me but at the same time he managed to crush the metal helmets on their heads until they died beside his mother. “Erik…” I breathe put covering my face until all the metal lab objects stopped getting thrown around above my head.
Uncovering my eyes I gasped eyeing his mother's dead body on the floor. He started crying in anger with my father apalding him. “Outstanding, Erik. So we unlock your gift with anger.” He placed the coin in his hand and headed for the door.
“How could you do that to him!” Rushing forward I grabbed my father's arm and he winced and I saw my hand turn red. Quickly drawing my hand backwards I saw it disappear before he could see I had some power of my own. As far as he knew I was just human like my mother.
My father Sebastian turned around to face me. “He's not like everyone else and I wish to see what he can truly do.” He left the office without saying another word to me or to the boy behind me.
“Erik, I….I'm sorry.” I noticed that he hasn't moved from where he stood and I did consider touching his shoulder. Yet decided no seeing the state he was in now.
He slowly glanced at me sniffing through tears. “You’re a monster, Addison!” I didn’t like the way he said my name for the first time which such anger and hate. Wrapping my arms around myself I left the room figuring it would be hard to gain any trust with him now.
Years later
Things haven't gotten any better between Erik and I. My father has kept me out of the supposed research he calls it. Yet I found out the truth a little while ago…about two years after we met. It was the middle of the night as I made my way down to the sort of bunker room they were keeping Erik in. It had no metal seeing as he could escape. Shutting the door behind me he sat up slightly in the bed but scoffed the second he saw it was me. “What are you doing here!”
“I brought you some extra food from my dinner if you want it.” Reaching inside my jacket I tossed him a zip lock bag that had some biscuits and a half slice of meat seeing that they didn't feed him well.
He caught the bag looking me in the eye briefly. “Why are you being nice to me?”
“Because I'm not like my father, Erik.” I responded with my hands inside my pockets.
The young mutant boy sat in silence just eating the food that I had given him. Moving downward I sat across from him with my hands laying in my lap. I wasn’t sure what to say to him. I knew that he didn’t trust me. “What is the real reason you’re talking to me?”
“Because I heard that they're shutting down everything. The camps, the experiments, everything. My father is packing to get out of here and not get executed. But I thought you should know that I’m here to help you get out of here.” Glancing over my shoulder I watched the door behind us counting down the minutes, figuring if my father found out where I was I would never see Erik again.
Erik stared at me finishing his food before he rolled up the sleeve of his shirt. I noticed the numbers that had been marked onto his left forearm and it made me feel guilty that he was suffering. “You’re really willing to help me, I still don’t understand why.”
“Come with me and you’ll see that I’m someone you can trust.” Raising myself to my feet offering him my hand.
He hesitantly placed his hand in mine asking one more question before I helped him sneak out before we could get caught. “What am I supposed to call you, Shaw girl?”
“Addison is too formal. Call me Addi.”
He got to his feet heading for the door twisting the doorknob and we both saw some flashing lights going down the hallway. He quickly turned his attention to me. “So what exactly is the plan now?”
“How about this? Since I am helping you get out of here then you agree to never hurt or try to kill me.” I suggested shrugging my shoulders.
Erik actually agreed to my shock and awe. “Fine, Shaw girl. But you'll help me find the ones who hurt me.” I squeezed his hand that was still looped with his saying that I agreed in silence before began running and haven't stopped since then.
Shutting the hotel room door behind me with my foot I didn’t hear the tv or anything on in which could only mean that Erik had either left or was just plotting in silence. Sliding my boots off of my feet at the door I paused in the doorway. “How long have you been staring at that wall?”
“That’s not your concern.” He grumbled moving the coin from my father between his fingers, never looking away from the board with pinned maps and pictures leading up to my father’s picture.
Crossing my arms over my chest I huffed. “Maybe it is my business considering the only time you leave is to kill some other Nazi members. So forgive me for being concerned.”
“I didn’t ask you to free me that night, Addison.” He scoffed using my full name knowing I didn’t care for it.
Waving my index finger at him I stepped away from the wall and to the foot of the bed. “I told you to not call me that, Lehnsherr!”
“Addison.” He just kept going until I crawled up onto the bed putting my hands on either side of his head glaring at the man in front of me.
The entire time he just kept moving the coin until I managed to snatch it from him. My freehand landed down on his thigh and he winced where I realized what I was doing and drew my hand back. “Sorry that I might actually care about you after what happened to your family. If you’re gonna hate me for the rest of our lives I guess I’ll just go!”
“Addison….” Erik called for me but I was already around the corner to my bedroom and slammed the door behind me. He noticed the coin had been dropped on the floor and so he slowly used his power, levitating it once more and then launching it right to my father’s forehead.
Once the door was shut I flopped down on my bed screaming into my pillow. A few minutes after that I heard the desk lamp move and a few markers and some of my shoes go flying around…everything had some tiny bit of metal inside them. “Urgh! Why did I have to touch him.” I scolded myself under my breath in frustration.
Sitting upright on the foot of the bed I put my face in my hands. “At some point he'll figure it out.” Raising my right hand I made the pen start to levitate in the air since I still had Erik's power running from my veins for a short time. Laying my head back on the pillow I just stared at the ceiling.
My father couldn't know the truth that I had my own mutation. Because if he knew he would have done everything that he did to Erik on his own daughter. So if them other mutant I was living with needed to hate me then I'd accept it. Since I didn't feel like I could be myself…my true self and that maybe I was broken since I could only take power from others and I didn't have my own abilities.
Comments really appreciated ❤️
The metal controlling mutant sat in silence and finally moved his gaze to my locked door. He felt slightly guilty and confused for treating you badly over the years but he couldn’t see past what he knew. That your father was the man who ruined his life…even though you decided to help him he wouldn’t let his heart change the mission he had inside his head.

Three - We Can Actually Have Trust
Tumblr media
Battle of the Mind and Heart
Part 4
So excited to say this is the longest chapter I have ever written 🧡 😁
Tag - send me an ask to be added @aintinacage @hiraethrhapsody @mostlymarvelgirl
Shutting the office door behind me I started walking down the hallway until I saw Raven Charles' sister coming towards me. She waved at me tilting her head slightly. “Hey, your name is Addi right?”
“Yes it is.” I nodded at her question.
She smiled brightly. “That’s what I thought. I just wanted to see if you maybe wanted to hang out. I see you hanging around Erik but he doesn’t seem to like you.”
“Oh yeah. It’s a long story but we aren’t close like you and your brother are.” I clasped my hands together in front of me, dropping my gaze to the floor. “Uh Raven, I’m not really sure what you’re asking me.”
The blonde steps forward with a smile still on her face. “Yeah sorry I’m not used to having friends. It’s been just me and Charles. But I’m asking "would you want to be friends with me?”
“Sure that would be cool.” I gave her a light smile back before she looped her arm through mine and dragged me into the kitchen inside the CIA building. She jumped up on the island and I sat down on one of the barstools.
Raven tilted her head to the side curiously. “So can I ask what your mutation is?”
“What’s yours first?” I asked her to lean back in the chair trying to get over the fact that I could show her actually what I can do. I’ve never shown anyone what I can do…
The blonde smirked and before my eyes her entire appearance changed to look exactly like me. She had every detail right down to the way I had my hair tied up in a braid. “I can look like anybody I have seen.” She switches back to her normal blonde form.
“That’s freaking insane!” I gasped amazed that there was even a mutation to exist.
She smiled, hitting her hands on her knees. “Yeah, it sucks. I have to hide it all the time though. So what about you?”
“Okay, uh give me your hand.” I told her to slide off the chair holding out my right hand for her to place my hand in hers. She places her hand in mine before I shut my eyes, calming myself.
Raven gasped parting her lips watching our hands turn red. I separated our hands, opening my eyes once more. Snapping my fingers I felt my body slowly switch until I could see myself on the reflection of the steel fridge behind her. “Holy crap. You’re like me.”
“Not exactly true. I can basically take power from other mutants and manipulate what they can do for a short period of time.” I explained hosting myself back up onto the chair.
The young woman smirked. “So you could get inside my brother's head if you touched him?”
“Possibly but I’m not sure how long I could be inside his head.” Shrugging my shoulders hearing footsteps coming into the kitchen. We turned our heads and saw Erik come into the kitchen grabbing a drink from the fridge. “Lehnsherr..”
He responded with a slight nod. “Addison.”
“Erik, did you know about Addi’s power to mimic others' powers?” Raven asked him.
He takes a sip. “Not until recently…we’re not big on trust.”
“One of us isn’t more so than the other.” I grumble under my breath twirling some pieces of my hair in between my fingers eyeing him standing in the doorway.
Erik just took another sip from his glass, intensely staring down at me where I so wish I could read his mind like Charles. “I’ll be working in an office room for the night. Don’t miss me too much, Addison.”
“I wouldn’t dream of it, metal man.” I called when he had left the room looking back at Raven who was smirking at me. “What’s that look for?”
She jumped down off the island throwing her hands up in the air. “The tension between you and Erik. There’s something clearly going on between you two.”
“Raven, you’re unbelievable. There’s no way Erik cares anything for me. He’s repeatedly told me that he finds me frustrating, annoying or that he hates me for what my father has done to him.” Shaking my head I crossed my arms over my chest tapping my boots on the wooden floor seeing what she was.
The shapeshifter bites her lip responding simply. “You shouldn’t judge him until you can find out what he really thinks of you.”
Outside of CIA Building
Erik shut the case that he had put the file on Shaw into. He walked out the double doors and down the path they had walked that morning. He was close to being gone to find Shaw once more until he heard Charles' voice. “From what I know about you, I'm surprised you've managed to stay this long.”
“What do you know about me?” He asked him.
Charles replied. “Everything.”
Erik turned his back to the man. “Then you know to stay out of my head.”
“I'm sorry, Erik, but I've seen what Shaw did to you. I've felt your agony. I can help you.” Charles explained to the man he would like to be his friend.
Erik scoffed slightly, turning back to him. “I don't need your help.”
“Don't kid yourself. You needed my help last night. It's not just me you're walking away from.” The telepath slightly snapped at him. “And what about Addi, are you just going to leave her to wonder where you’ve gone?”
“She’s known all along what my mission is.” He said back.
Charles took a few steps toward the man. “And yet you treat her like she’s nothing when that’s not how you see her truly.”
“You don’t know what you’re talking about. She’s just as bad as her father-“
“She tried to help save your mother before she was shot. She brought you food when the soldiers wanted you to starve. She helped sneak you out before her father found out after his experiments were shut down. She stood by your side when she had the full ability to have her own life. So tell me how exactly has she been so horrible to you?”
Erik walked up to the telepath with his nose flared up. “You need to stay out of my head, Charles! And it’s not her personality that makes me hate her. It’s the very idea of who she’s related to.”
“Then why do you treat her so harshly?” He eyed the taller man in front of him.
Erik parted his lips and let the wind be the only sound be the wind blowing around them. He didn’t really have a good response to the question so he spun around on his heels and started walking away from the man. “It doesn’t matter what I say to you now. You’re too much of a polite man to ever repeat what I say to her.”
“You don’t have to do this alone, Erik.” Charles spoke up.
The metal man huffed daring to say a response back. “And why’s that?”
“Here you have the chance to be part of something much bigger than yourself. I won't stop you from leaving. I could. But I won't.” Charles put his hands inside his jacket and turned on his heels to go inside. “Shaw has got friends. You could do with some.”
Erik remained where he was standing and shut his eyes letting his mind wander. He didn’t like to think too much about what happened when he was awake. Since his mind haunted him all through the night, but maybe Charles was right and that he felt something more for her. She truly was there for him…
It was late at night in another hotel room with the two young mutants trying to get some sleep. Erik was tossing around in the bed for a few minutes until he felt someone touch his shoulder and he woke up. “What the hell!” The keys to the door flew up into the air and aimed the tip at the person who was over him.
“Erik, calm down. It’s just me.” He shifted his gaze upward seeing it was Addison from the light of the bright full moon outside the window.
She watched the key drop to the nightstand as he released in some breaths not as panicked as he was moments ago. “Addison….what are you doing?”
“You were having a nightmare. So I thought it was safer to wake you up.” She breathed out, lowering her hand that was on his shoulder.
He scrunched his nose at her, rolling over onto his other side. “I'm fine, Addison.”
She sat on the foot of the bed just silently watching over the man. She tapped her hands together in her lap. Lost in her own thoughts of knowing that her father was the cause of such horrible things. She noticed him shivering from another nightmare so she climbed behind him in the bed and draped an arm over his waist whispering. “I'm here, Erik. Even if you don't like it. I'm here for you.”
Erik heard her whispering and he found himself not entirely hating the contact and comfort it brought him where he was able to have a peaceful night sleep.
Addison's pov
Raven's words were still in my mind. I didn't know whether to believe what she was saying or deny the whole thing altogether. Threading my fingers through my hair I was about to head into my room until I saw Charles waiting outside my door. “Addi, glad I caught you. Erik and I are joining the CIA to find your father. I was hoping you’d join us.”
“Oh uh…I don’t really think that’s a good idea. Erik and I don’t work well together.” I kicked the floor with one of my boots unsure of why I should be going with them.
The telepath walked up closer to me. “He may have an odd way of showing it but he does have some trust in you.”
“Fine, I'll go.” I agreed with him and next thing I knew we were off to Russia in search of my father.
A few CIA members were beside me, Erik and Charles seeing the blonde lady from the ship there but not my father like we had hoped. Charles admitted sadly dropping his fingers from his head. “He's not coming. So, what now, boss?”
The CIA woman responded. “Now, nothing. We're here for Shaw. Mission aborted.”
Erik yanked his hat off his head. “The hell it is.”
She grabbed his arm. “Erik.”
“She's his right-hand woman. That's good enough for me.” He explained back to her.
She gave him a shocked look. “The CIA invading the home of a senior Soviet official. Are you crazy?”
Erik got up to his feet sending me a look and I knew it meant for me to follow him. “I'm not CIA.”
“Erik!” Charles called his name. “Addi!”
Removing the white stocking cap from my head I got to my feet rushing over to Erik. “Oh geez. What do you want me to do?”
“We’re gonna get you to show me your powers. That’s what we are going to do.” He explained to me by eyeing the gate through the forest tree line where two guards were standing at the main entrance door.
Wrapping my arms around myself I avoided his gaze briefly trying to decide if this was a good idea or not. “Erik, Is this you trusting me now?”
“Keep this until we find Shaw then I’ll need it back.” He reached inside his pocket and drew out something in his closed palm. He slowly opened it and I parted my lips seeing the metal coin there. But he had attached a string to it, forming it into a necklace.
Lifting my gaze up to meet his own I turned around moving my hair so he could clip the clasp on. “This is a big deal….I do trust you though.”
“Have at it, Addison.” He held out his hands once I had turned around to face him. Placing my hands in his hands turned red and he slightly winced. Yet he didn’t draw back until I dropped my hands from his. “So what exactly can you do?”
Raising my right hand I closed my eyes controlling my breaths before the metal coin raised away from my neck. “I can manipulate any mutat that I touch and the ability they have.” He reached down taking my hand in his and we started running towards the Soviet building.
He used the metal fencing to wrap up the majority of the guards not stopping. The two guards outside raised their guns at me where I froze in my tracks thinking on my feet. Raising my hands the metal that they were holding got thrown in the air and the two men holding onto them dropped to the ground. “Good job, Addison.” He complimented me punching one of the guys after they fell on the ground.
I nodded, running after him watching him slowly just walk inside proudly until we heard two Russian soldiers sound off and aim their guns at us. Erik raised his hands and unloaded the bullets. “Go for it, Addison.” He gestured with his hand stepping to the side.
“Sorry for this fellas.” I replied raising my right hand into a fist and the two soldiers did barrel rolls and ended up on the floor harshly.
Erik strides past me up into the shut doorway with his hands crossed together behind his back. “Do you want to go or shall I?” He tilted his head to the wooden door.
“I’ve got it.” I shrugged my shoulders, sucking in a breath and lowered my hands to my side. Clutching my hands into fists the door flung opened shortly afterwards and we entered the room together side by side.
“You are beautiful, so beautiful! Yes! Yes!” I gaged at the sight of the Russian leader looking like he was kissing the air. Charles ran inside finding us inside the room already with the blonde.
Yet Charles glanced at Emma who was smiling from the couch. “Nice trick.”
The Russian leader finally noticed us and drew a gun but Charles raised his hand and he dropped back on the bed. “Go to sleep.”
“You can stop trying to read my mind, sugar. You're never going to get anything from me while I'm like this.” Emma shifted into diamond form and Charles winced trying to read her mind.
The boys sent the same look to one another then ran and tackled the blonde telepath against the metal frame of the bed. “So, then, you can just tell us. Where is Shaw?” Erik grumbled trapping her by wrapping the metal around her wrists and then her throat when she didn’t say anything.
Charles warned him. “Erik. Erik, that's enough.”
Emma finally transformed to her non diamond form where he gestured to her before sitting down and pouring a drink for himself. “All yours. She won't be shifting into diamond form again. And if she does, just give her a gentle tap.”
“Addi…take my hand.” Charles instructed me, being able to see my power from the night in the ocean when he helped me get onto the Coast guard ship. Placing my hand in his I sighed quietly entering the female telepath’s mind.
We saw the world on fire and my Father standing above a burning city where he declared his plan to Emma and another mutant was by his side. “We are the children of the atom. Radiation gave birth to mutants. What will kill the humans will only make us stronger.”
“Beautiful, isn't it?” Emma asked when I covered my mouth in horror.
Charles dropped his gaze to the floor briefly before focusing his attention back on Erik and I. “This is worse than we previously imagined.” My hands began shaking and I felt my heart beating faster never thinking my father would kill the world of non mutants.
Someone gently touched my hand making me whip my head around but I calmed my guard seeing that Erik had gotten up from his seat and came over to my side. “Addi….” He whispered for the first time ever seeing how upset I was almost on the verge of tears.
“Thank you…” I whispered under my breath squeezing my smaller hand in his larger one.

20 - Simple Life Gone Wrong
Tumblr media
Part 21
Battle of Mind and Heart
Tag list - ask to be added (in my ask box please) @aintinacage @hiraethrhapsody @mostlymarvelgirl @importantgalaxyrunaway
It was a stormy and rainy morning and the kids were still asleep since I wasn't making them do homeschooling on the weekends. Lying asleep in the bed Erik was sound asleep like normal when I sharply woke up feeling the urge to empty my stomach. Tossing the covers off of me I crossed the wooden floor like it was on lava until I got myself bent over the toilet. “Addi?”
“Ugh…where are they? Ah yes.” I heard Erik’s voice from the bed but I just kept throwing up until I felt that I was better. Remaining on my knees I opened the cabinet rummaging around until I found one of the pregnancy tests that I had bought from the store.
Footsteps creaked against the floorboards till he finally could see my current state. “Addison, here. I…I am here now.” He moved around grabbing a hold of my hair gently right as I went to puke a second time.
“Ugh…so gross.” I wiped my mouth with one of the towels shifting my body around so I could sit on the floor holding the pregnancy test I just took in my hands.
Erik shifted to sit down across from me pulling his legs up to his chest so I could have more room for my legs. “So what does it say, Addison?”
“We're…We're gonna have another baby.” I began crying a little at the thought picturing the excitement on the twins faces when we got around to telling them the good news.
Erik paused like he had the first time I told him I was pregnant with the twins but this time his pause was much shorter. “I love you.” He whispered, connecting our lips in for a kiss and I smiled into it.
“I love you too.” I whispered laying my head against his chest and he wrapped his arms around my waist.
Erik just held me for a little while until he thought it had been long enough. “Let’s get you back to bed, Addi.” He lifted me up into his arms carrying me back to bed and he laid back down with me.
“So what do you want this time. Boy or girl?” I asked him looping my fingers with his while we were laying down and just staring at one another longingly. This wasn’t a rare thing for us to just lay in silence and watch the other too afraid they might disappear in an instant after the time we were forced to be separated by the Pentagon.
Erik kept his focus on my eyes. “It doesn’t matter to me. We already have one of each. So I'd say girl to make it even for both of us.”
“Oh are you and Ryder feeling like you need another woman in your lives?” I teased him imagining another baby girl hanging off his shoulders during piggyback, playing hide and seek during thunderstorms or him just listening to the random rambles from the child’s mouth.
Erik shakes his head leaning forward, capturing his lips with mine. “I just want you to be happy because for a long time I didn't think I could ever be, until I met you.”
“And nobody is going to tear us apart ever again.” I declared laying my head back down in the crook of his neck.
By the time I had ended my conscious conversation with Charles I entered our bedroom seeing my husband shoving different drawers and grabbing whatever he thought we would need. Which could only mean one thing, he was preparing to run again. Stepping into the room I touched his forearm the second he spun around facing me. “Erik, woah hang on. We don't have to run now.”
“Yes we do, Addi.” He attempted to move past me but I pushed a hand on his chest.
“Tell me what happened.” I urged him.
He moved his gaze down to mine showing my other hand was intertwined with his larger one. “If I'm exposed we're all exposed, Addison. I…part of a machine nearly killed a man today. But I stopped it. I heard some of the other workers talking and I know that can't mean good things. Most people already know my name on the news.”
“Hey, look at me. You did a good thing saving his life.” Moving my other hand off his chest and up to his face, he leans into my palm. “We don't have to run. We…this is our kids now, our future baby's home.”
Erik cradled my face in his hands. “We are their home. We will be this little ones home.” His gaze shifted down to my now somewhat visible stomach but we hadn't told the kids about it yet.
Leaning forward I kissed him quickly, wrapping my arms around his neck. He leans down into the kiss, moving one hand around my waist tugging me closer. “Where’s the kid” I asked him breaking the kiss with us both trying to catch our breaths.
“I told them to pack. They should be done by now though.” He answered my question with fear written over his face. We bolted up the stairs only to find their room empty with bags packed but neither twin was there.
Running to the backdoor the backyard was found to be the same. “They must be down by the creek. Astraea! Ryder!” I hollered and he did the same trucking through the thick forest of woods until we found a clearing and were met with a handful of policeman.
“Mommy, daddy. They won't let Ryder go.” Astraea came running forward out from behind one of the trees near us.
The words slipped my mouth when she locked her arms around the middle of my stomach in fear. “Are you alright?”
“She's fine as is your boy.” One of the officers said.
I snapped at the officer. “Then let him go!”
“We will. We just wanted to have a word.” The lead officer answered, still holding Ryder's shoulder firmly underneath his hand.
Erik tilted his head noticing something that I hadn't until he said the words. “You're not wearing your badges.”
“No metal. Some guys at the factory said they saw something today. Something that didn't add up.” Another policeman answered.
I begged the men in uniform. “Put your weapon away.”
“You've been a good citizen, Henryk...A good neighbor... a good worker. I want to believe that's who you are.” The lead officer focused his attention on my husband.
“It is.” I bared my teeth looking down at my daughter in my arms. Her fingers were gripping my hand while she now stood at my side, my other hand was resting on my stomach.
The fourth officer scoffed. “But nobody in this town really knows you.”
“Yes you do. I am Henryk Gurzsky. Jakob, I've had dinner in your home…” Erik attempted to remain calm seeing one of his workers who reported him in standing there too.
“And you were lying the whole time. I brought a killer into my house.” The man growled.
Ryder tried to move from the top policeman’s grasp when he drew out a printed picture of Erik the day he tried to kill the president until Raven stopped him. “Is this you? Are you the one they call Magneto?”
“Take me in. Please...Just let my son go.” Erik paused sparing me a glance silent as an apology. Ryder bolted forward when the officer let him run straight to his father where they embraced in a quick hug. “Go with your mother and sister.”
Walking forward I grasped my son's hand separating the two with two officers holding Erik causing our son to begin wining. “Please...Don't leave me. I'm not going to let them take you.”
“What's going on?” Lifting my head I felt the ground under my feet shaking and everything felt like it was beginning to slow down.
“She's one of them?” A policeman pointed his finger back at Astraea who had her hand raised forward causing some of the men to hold their heads in pain.
Ryder squeezed my hand and I saw his fingers glow before he shot a blast towards them and the other two ducked in fear. “Tell them to stop!”
“They can't control it! He's scared of you!” Erik responded with the last two still holding him in place.
“We're not going to let them take you!” The twins decided to meet up to stand right beside each other about to blast them a second time until I heard an officer draw an arrow and he accidentally fired it from his bow.
I bolted picking up my boots tackling the pair into the dirt. “Astraea! Ryder! - ah!” I screamed in pain feeling the arrow hit me in my lower stomach.
“Addison!” Erik cried out bolting in my direction with the other officers trying to run but they couldn't because our daughter was keeping them blocked in. He caught my body when I had yanked the arrow out where my legs collapsed to the harsh ground. “No…no please Addi.”
Gripping the fabric of his flannel jacket I gasped feeling some blood slowly coming from my stomach. “Erik…Kids.”
“Mommy.” Astraea hollered coming over to us.
Ryder pressed his hand on my stomach where I winced seeing some more blood coming out. “Ryder, what are you doing?” He sent me a simple smile before our eyes the wound on my belly disappeared and there was just a simple scar.
“He can heal.” Astraea gasped in shock.
Erik held me against his chest glancing between the three of us. “Kids, go back to the house and wait there until we get there. Do you understand?”
“Yes.” The twins answered before running off together in the direction of the house.
Peaking over my husband’s shoulder I winced trying to get to my feet until I felt something falling between my legs. Looking down I gasped seeing blood even though the wound was healed. “Erik…the baby.”
“Addi…but he healed you.” Erik placed a hand on my forearm seeing the tears forming in my eyes.
The head officer takes a step forward to apologize. “Mrs. Gurzsky, I'm sorry.”
“Erik, I….do it. Do it!” I started crying, more tears reaching inside my shirt. Drawing the metal coin necklace that I wore shoving it down into his open palm. “Make them pay.”
He didn't need to be told anything more. He closed his eyes, opening the palm launching the coin slicing the necks of the throats of the policemans with their bodies dropping. “There's one more thing we need to do before we get out of here. Let's get you better first.” He scooped me up in his arms making our way back to the house.
“Mommy, Daddy, There something I need to tell you.” Ryder came running around the corner when we had made our way back into the small cabin.
Erik sat me down on my feet so I could lower myself to be his level I asked concerned. “What is it you need to tell us, Ryder?”
“The baby…they would have been a mutant like me and sissy.” The young Lehnsherr boy reply.
Glancing over to his father Erik’s features switched over to a much darker look. He helped me to my feet pulling me closer when he whispered under his breath. “Let’s go make those men at the factory pay too. Then we will take the kids to Charles place.” I nodded in agreement grasping his hands in mine. Knowing we deserved revenge.

Part 8
Battle of Heart and Mind
Tag list - ask to be added (in my ask box please) @aintinacage @hiraethrhapsody @mostlymarvelgirl @importantgalaxyrunaway
I didn’t get much sleep last night. I wasn’t sure any of us honestly could. This was our first battle together as a team. The battle that would determine if mutants were accepted into the world for saving the world. Or would we be hunted down because we were different and viewed as the next enemy of the world.
Sitting on the edge of the bed my hair was slightly tousled with my gaze fixated on the shut bedroom in front of me. I had been up for a few hours just silently staring at the door. “If I leave then I have to face my father…but if I stay they might need my help.”
Gripping the bed sheets in my fingers I thought back to the moments with my father. He wasn’t that good of a father when it came down to it. Always busy in the lab experimenting on Erik. My mother must have disappeared for a reason…I hated to think it was because of him.
“Addison, can I come in?” Shaking my head a voice pulled me from my thoughts recognizing it as Erik nonetheless.
I stumbled from the bed hearing him turn the metal doorknob with his power slowly entering my bedroom. “Uh sure. Come in.”
“Charles found suits that Hank made. He told me to come find you and bring you yours. Are you ready?” He stepped through the doorway carrying a blue and yellow flight suit on his left arm.
Twiddling my thumbs together in my lap. “I don’t know if I can do this, Erik.”
“Are you thinking of backing out?” He asked the question I was dreading.
Closing my eyes I couldn't look him in the eye when it left my mouth. “Would you be upset if I backed out…I mean he's my father even if he wants to destroy the world.”
“Hey, now what makes you think that I would be angry if you backed out.” He gave me a confused expression.
Throwing my head back I couldn't believe we were having the conversation now. He had made it perfectly clear what his life mission was all along. I wasn’t so native as Charles who believes he might change his mind once we find my father. “Because you only care about getting vengeance for what he did to your mother ... .I've known it's going to happen with or without my support.”
“Addison, I…I'd never hurt you. It's only your father I wish to make suffer.” Erik came over sitting down beside me on the bed having it creak at the sudden weight change.
Avoiding his gaze I mumbled softly. “I'm not afraid of you, Erik…”
“I'm not good at expressing my emotions with others. But….I gave you this for a reason.” He gently reached for the metal coin in between his fingers, seeing that I hadn't taken it off since he gave it to me back in Russia.
Nodding slowly I still wouldn't meet his gaze. “Why exactly did you give it to me?”
“It was because…because against what you think I trust you more than you think I do.” Erik moves his hands up cradling my face in his hands making me finally look into his brown eyes.
Croaking through some tears. “You trust me?”
“I wouldn't just say that to anyone on the street now would I.” He remarks in a slightly snarky manner.
I snorted, getting an idea in my head. “I suppose not. That gives me an idea.”
Breaking away from I rummaged around in the desk drawer at my bedside until I found the folded up object. Unfolding the piece of paper I held back tears holding it out to him. “Addison, what are you doing?”
“I'm giving it to you. As my own sign of trust that you'll keep your word about my mother. Helping me find out what happened to her.” I held it out for him to not move my gaze anywhere else.
The metal controlling mutant had no words eyeing the picture in her palm. He had seen the picture only once before this. He knew that the unknown was eating at her. That the picture was the only thing she had of her meaning he could only assume the worst had happened to her mother but he wouldn't dare utter that thought to her mind. “I can't take it. I won't take it, Addison.”
“Erik, please. There's nothing else I can entrust you with in my life.” I replied.
He declared gently. “That's not true.”
“Then what exactly?” I raised a brow hugging the picture back to my chest.
He held the side of my cheek in his palm once more feeling me lean into his hand. “You can trust me with your heart as I can you with mine.”
“Erik…” I mumbled leaning forward not thinking that we needed to be getting ready to fight. Pressing my lips onto his he leans forward deepening the kiss by holding my face in both hands again.
Laying the picture on the side of the bed I climbed into his lap wrapping my arms around his neck moving my lips onto his longingly. “Addi.”
“Erik, Addi. Hank has the plane ready to go.” Charles voice came from the hallway where he halted in his tracks. “Am I interrupting something?”
Erik growled under his breath separating from me. “Nothing at all, old friend.”
“I was just getting changed.” I lied with Erik leaving the room. I quickly got to my feet eyeing Charles who stared at me for a moment with an almost saddened look on his face. I knew he could read my mind but wouldn't without permission first. ‘ Does he have feelings for me ‘ I couldn't help but think to myself.
Everyone had gotten on the plane that Hank had designed. I was seated between Erik and Alex. Raven was beside her brother and Banshee. Leaning back in my seat Charles decided to control the Russians to fire on their own ship but that meant Hank had to barrel roll the plane so we didn't get hit. Shutting my eyes tightly I gripped the seatbelt in my hands feeling another hand touch mine. I smiled lightly seeing it was Erik once the plane settled down. Charles and Banshee got out of their seats. “Hank, level the bloody plane.”
“Woah you back right up.” Banshee points at Erik who raises his hands in surrender. I chuckled knowing that he was right to not trust Erik after the flight incident.
Charles brushed past me grabbing my hand in his after Banshee found out that Shaw was in a sub underneath the water. Erik climbed down on the tire of the plane with me and Charles watching his movements. Erik grunted trying to raise the sub from the water but he couldn’t fully do it. “Remember the point between rage and serenity.” Charles declared into his friend's mind.
“What am I supposed to do when we get Shaw on land?” I questioned the telepath.
Charles looked my way at the same time Erik fully raised the sub from the water and slowly dropped it onto the sandy beach that was a few feet away from us. Hank flies the plane in that direction until one of the ships blasted us down. “Just stay with Erik. You'll be the most powerful one to face off against him if it comes down to that.”
Charles pulled Erik up inside the plane as best as he could. Everybody got thrown and Hank did his best to make the plane not snap when we hit land. I get thrown onto the metal floor harshly holding my head when we finally hit and everyone was recovering from the damage. Pushing myself to my feet I looked towards Charles who was staring at me before Erik forced himself to his feet hollering my name. “Addison!, we're going to get Shaw.” I ran up meeting with him knowing that the others would do what they needed to protect Charles inside the plane. Erik ripped a hole in the metal and we walked right inside seeing there was a fancy couch and TV inside but nobody was there. Moving forward I could feel that something was off but I wasn't sure what exactly.
“Erik, you're there. You've reached the void.” Erik said, beginning to get frustrated.
Stepping towards the end of the sub I pressed my hands against the wall feeling some form of energy radiating from the wall. “Erik, somebody else is here. I can feel their power.” I looked over my shoulder with my hands turning red siphoning from the source.
“He's not here, Charles. Shaw's not here! He's left the sub!” He grumbled.
I could hear Charles voice. “What? He's got to be there. He has to be!”
“There's nowhere else he can be. Keep looking.”
“And I'm telling you he's not. There's no one here, God damn it!” Erik raised his voice.
The wall in front of me disappeared, making me gasp sharply seeing my father in front of me. He slowly stepped forward, raising his hand and drawing me into his chest. “Hello Addison, Have you decided to join your father finally?”
“Erik!” I screamed before my father covered my mouth with his hand the second Erik turned around seeing us.
My father replied. “Erik, what a pleasant surprise. So good to see you again. May I ask you something? Why are you on their side? Why fight for a doomed race who will hunt us down as soon as they realize their reign is coming to an end?”
“Let go of me!” I grunt against my father trying to grab any part of his body to take his power but he was stronger than I was.
Erik raised his hand to use his power against him but my father was faster using his power to throw Erik against the wall. He threw him around the room a few more times before he held him to the wall with a large metal pole. “I'm sorry for what happened in the camps. I truly am. But everything I did, I did for you. To unlock your power. To make you embrace it. You've come a long way from bending gates. I'm so proud of you. And your just starting to scratch the surface. Think of how much further we could go, together.”
“You just want to destroy the world. Kill anyone who isn’t like us!” I snapped at him, managing to grip his forearm, taking his energy. He winced lowering himself to the ground, being weakened.
He gasped for breath. “You’re just like you’re mother…never seeing my vision of the world.”
“What happened to her?” I questioned him standing above him with my hands clutching into fists.
Shaw groaned. “She left, Addison. She left and I saw her a few years later and she said she wants nothing to do with any mutant’s.”
“You made her hate me.” I couldn’t believe what he was saying when I raised my hand throwing him against the wall. He got to his feet, launching me onto my knees using his power and wrapping some metal wire around me so I couldn’t move.
“We are the future of the human race. You and me, son….you too my daughter. This world could be ours.” My father declared to him, smirking at me.
“Everything you did made me stronger. It made me the weapon I am today. It's the truth. I've known it all along. You are my creator…..Now, Charles!” Erik reached up with a metal wire snatching the helmet off his head.
“Sorry, Charles. But I don’t trust you.” Erik apologized putting the helmet my father had on his head meaning Charles couldn’t be in his mind anymore.
“Erik, please. Be the better man. Erik, there will be no turning back!” Charles begged him.
“If you're in there, I'd like you to know that I agree with every word you said. We are the future.” Erik turns his back to me, glaring at my father moving the coin through the center of his forehead. “But, unfortunately, you killed my mother. This is what we're going to do. I'm going to count to three and I'm going to move the coin. One….two….three.”
Charles was still inside my mind as I struggled against the metal wires. I snapped the wire forcing myself to my feet watching everything happen. “Addi, do something. Stop him!” Staring silently at Erik we both watched my father drop dead in front of our eyes.
Holding up my right hand I drew the bloody coin off the ground and Erik didn't bother stopping me. It smacked against my hand as I closed my fingers around the coin tightly mumbling under my breath. “Goodbye father…”
“We should inform the others. It's now us against them.” Erik brushed past me leaving me conflicted with my thoughts. I didn't know if it was right that everyone that isn’t a human should suffer but its all I've known following Erik for years.

18 - The Lehnsherr Family
Tumblr media
Part 19
Battle of Heart and Mind
Tag list - ask to be added (in my ask box please) @aintinacage @hiraethrhapsody @mostlymarvelgirl @importantgalaxyrunaway
Five years ago
Shutting the car door Erik went behind me opening the backseat door getting our two kids out. I was wearing a red jacket over a black jacket, some dark blue jeans and some black combat boots. We hadn’t heard anything from Logan from the future in a few years so we had to assume that everything had been changed. “Daddy! Piggy back.”
“I won’t be able to do this if you keep getting bigger, Astraea.” Erik told our daughter who had my bright blonde hair and the same eye color. He scooped her up and carried her on his shoulders.
Shaking my head I felt a hand touch mine meaning it was little Ryder. He looked exactly like a mini version of his father no doubt about it. “Why are we going to see Uncle Charles, mommy?”
“Because you’re father and I have some business to take care of and Charles said he didn’t mind getting a visit from his favorite Lehnsherr twins.” I answered his question by pushing the front door open with our family walking through the entrance.
Charles and I had pushed to get the school back up and running again. Since we had changed the future it felt right to try it for a second time. Some kids ran past us before I paused in the doorway eyeing the professor sitting behind his desk still in his wheelchair. “Uncle Charles!” Our daughter cheered climbing down from her father’s shoulder rushing past us and towards him directly.
“There's my favorite twins. Ohh!” Charles sat the book down in his lap.
Ryder ran past his sister since he was given his father's height jumping up into his lap first. “Dad and mom says we are spending a few days here.”
“Can you give me a ride around on your chair?” Astraea asked, sitting on his other leg showing the same excitement level.
Standing in the doorway I leaned against the wood with Erik coming to stand beside me. He looped his hand through mine looking at his friend. “I have a favor to ask of you, old friend. Can you watch the kids for a few hours. I have a date planned for us tonight?”
“Of course I can watch them. I'll have Hank cancel my classes for the evening.” Charles agreed, entering his friends mind chuckling at what he saw. Even though he would never get a chance to be with Addi now, He still had found a way to appreciate when his friend made her happy.
Bending down on my knees I instructed our kids forward. “Alright you two come give us hugs before we go.”
“And you be good for Uncle Charles.” Erik warned them, wrapping his arms around each of them. I hugged and kissed their heads before we made our way out of the school doors.
Erik and I got back in the car and we just drove in silence until we reached the airport that was closest to us. We had decided to make a trip out to DC and get married there out on my mothers backyard porch. We had both been busy raising the kids and trying to find somewhere where we were comfortable living and we had settled on Portland. Changing into a short white dress that reached past my knees but above my ankles. “Don’t get angry at me for asking this but you aren’t thinking of backing out are you?”
“Charles already gave me a pep talk about our relationship. So I am not backing away from you, Addison. Not anymore.” Erik shrugged his shoulders with his arms down at his sides. He was in a black leather jacket and one of his old dark brown turtlenecks he wore when we first were training with his friend.
Clasping my hands together in front of me I just chuckled back at him knowing Charles was very persuasive. “That is very reassuring, Lehnsherr. Oh here comes my mom.”
“Alright you two I am officially a wedding preacher.” My mother walks up to stand in front of us. She glanced between us knowing we probably wanted to get this thing out with and just say I do. “Do you two have vows prepared or are we skipping that?”
I cleared my throat by unfolding a piece of paper from inside one of my boots. “I have something to say…Erik the day we met wasn't the most romantic and we certainly aren't like one of those couples in the romantic films. But I can't imagine spending my life with anyone except you. I love you and our kids and I am excited to say it's going to be us against the world, always.”
“Addison, I know that I haven't been the easier person to get along with. Especially when you get so frustrated I won't call you Addi like you wished I would. But getting through all that you found out that there are still good parts of me. That I am just looking for love that I now get to have in you until the end of our days.” Erik reached down intertwining our hands together sending me a smile that was rare to see still to this moment in time.
My mother grinned, holding out one ring to me and the other for my soon to be husband. “Now we can get to the super romantic part. Do you Addi take this man to be your husband?”
“I do.” I responded by slipping the ring on his left hand.
She looks at her son in law. “Erik, do you take this woman to be your wife?”
“I do.” He answered her question by putting the ring on my left hand.
My mother Angela clasped her hands together. “By the power vested in me I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss my daughter.” She backed away before he cupped my face in his hands, kissing me deeply. Wrapping my arms around his neck I deepened the kiss feeling like we were now going to remain a family.
I heard Erik's truck pulling up in the driveway where I ran from our bedroom downstairs knowing he'd drop his keys in the kitchen. Peaking around the corner he was standing there for a few minutes before I ran up behind him throwing my arms around his neck from behind. “I was wondering when you were coming home.”
“Addi.” He chuckled, twirling me underneath his arm so that we were now facing one another.
Running my hands up his chest I smiled, kissing him. “How was your day?”
“Better now that's for sure. Where are the twins?” Erik asked me wrapping his arms around my waist, holding me as close as possible.
“Out back. I'll show you.” Gesturing my head towards the backdoor I led him outside by the hand. We had set up a wooden playset outside the back of our house.
Astraea was running around in the grass with her brother chasing after her until she gave him a look before she looked in our direction. “Daddy!” She ran forward jumping up into his arms and he caught her in his arms grunting a little bit since she was getting bigger being ten years old now.
“Mommy, when can we see Uncle Charles again?” Ryder asked me with his messy hair falling in front of his eyes. He had always adored Charles Xavier and the way he was able to run a school.
Putting my hands in the pockets of my jeans. “Maybe sometime soon if your father can take off for a few days.”
“Does my brother have powers like me?” Erik and I shifted our attention to one another hearing our daughter's voice inside of our minds. It was so clear that she had gotten the same ability as our old friend. But the sad truth was that Ryder didn’t seem to have any or had yet to unlock his abilities. We weren't really sure which one was true.
Erik bounced our daughter in his arms changing the conversation. “I’m hungry. Are you kiddos hungry, let’s go eat.” The four of us had gone back inside the house sitting down and having the chicken and potatoes we had from the night before.
Erik and I had been patiently waiting for his powers to come through but it was beginning to look like he was simply born human even though he had two mutant born parents. The sun had finally set on our small house when we went to put the kids to bed. “Where did you learn that song, daddy?” Astraea asked, settling herself down underneath the covers of her bed.
Erik answered by brushing hair out of her eyes. “I learned it from my parents and they learned it from their parents. Then one day you and your brother will sing it to your children too.”
“What happened to them, your parents?” Ryder asked, laying on his side in his bed, seeing me standing in the doorway just silently watching.
Silence fell in the room when my husband’s eyes lowered to the numbers on his arm. “They were taken from me when I was a little boy. But they’re still here inside watching over you both.”
“Is someone going to take you and mom away?” Young Astraea, always so curious just couldn’t stop asking questions even when she needed to go to sleep.
Entering the room I put a hand on Erik’s shoulder before he rose from the bed turning off the light telling them to get some sleep. “Never, my sweet twins. Now get some sleep.”
“So when are we going to have the conversation with them about him not being like us?” I questioned once we had left their room and were in the living room sitting on the couch. Moving one hand over my stomach it wasn’t visible yet that I was certainly pregnant. “I feel like it should be before they start asking about me having a third baby.”
Erik draped his arm over my shoulder tugging me into his embrace. “I think the idea of them having a sibling will be easier to understand.”
“What aren't you telling me, Erik. Is it about Ryder not being a mutant?” I could sense that he was holding something back from me. I knew that he wished his son was a mutant just as much as I did.
He shifted his gaze down to mine reading my facial expression. “Don't think that I hate him for not being like you and me. I can't ever hate my own son.”
“I know that, honey. I just know we need to explain it to them before they get any older. Especially if we feel like our daughter should be taught at Charles school.” Intertwining my hand with his I laid my head on his chest. Erik wrapped his arms around my waist holding me close just enjoying the little family we had created.
