i find it hard to explain what kanan's death makes me feel, but:

it's just. imagine loving someone so much that you hold back death for them. imagine loving someone so much that you push them away in your final moments. imagine loving someone so much that a supernatural power recognises it and gives you back your sight so you can see your love one last time. imagine loving someone so much that your own death is inevitable and it is because of this inevitability that you can look upon your love once again, because the universe knows that there's no other choice you'd make and so it can grant you this final mercy.

i guess what i'm trying to say is:

imagine loving someone so much that the universe itself recognises your love.

realising i have types of favourite characters:

person who has suffered immensely and still chooses kindness and light, still believes in the triumph of good over evil: elrond peredhel, obi-wan kenobi, to a certain extent padmé amidala naberrie 

textual ghost whose innocence and childhood bled out: finduilas faelivrin, sabé tsabin, shmi skywalker, to a certain extent findis

dnd player who invested all their points into charisma, be that the flirty or endearing kind: quinlan vos, maedhros one-handed, briar moss, beidou

am i really invested in them as a character or do i just find their vibes immensely tasty?: boba fett, merrin, caranthir, captain rex, commander fox, clone medic kix

1. pas de deux by tchaikovsky - i don't really listen to classical music but off the top of my head this would be my favourite! the melody... the gentle trills up and down... the lovely feeling of it... j'adore.

2. ride of the valkyries by wagner - the vibes in this one are immaculate. the triumphant feel!! the bold melody!! we love.

3. dance of the sugar plum fairy by tchaikovsky - i played this once and gosh i still love it!! it's so lovely and ethereal and the arpeggios at the end give it such a lovely feel!

2. claude debussy — arabesque no. 1 the beginning sounds so nostalgic and beautiful and i really want to learn it on piano. i just gotta stop procrastinating and get the sheet music—

currently watching: ...nothing? the last thing i watched was. uh. descendants 1 (for reasons)

currently craving: can i get a really good freshly-baked chocolate chip cookie, please and thank you?

coffee or tea: why would you make me choose! mocha or peppermint, btw.

any hobby you'd like to try?: i have been MEANING to (re)teach myself piano (i used to play it, but a few years ago stopped practicing and now. uh. kinda forgot how to play. which is sad because i love music) so yeah. that!

any discipline you'll follow during the olympics?: archery!! perhaps gymnastics (they look SO cool)! swimming, by virtue of being australian.

any au/alternative universe(s) you're plotting for?: i really feel like i don't post my art enough for this to be applicable, but: i have a 'the forgotten women of tolkien's legendarium as tarot cards' doc with notes in it that i've partially started, and i've also been meaning to draw that one star wars/narnia crossover i hinted about in the tags ages ago. but. alas.

i don't know how to explain it but something about the star wars force theme/main theme just. it's about hope. it's about light at the end of the tunnel it's about good triumphing over evil it's about there being an end, after all. it's about victory after hopelessness and love winning over loss and the fact that even through that much pain and suffering there is still light despite it all. there is still light and it will always win. no matter how dark the galaxy seems, no matter how much we suffer- we will always triumph. light will always win.

it reminds me of this quote by qui-gon jinn from master & apprentice by claudia gray:

“It matters which side we choose. Even if there will never be more light than darkness. Even if there can be no more joy in the galaxy than there is pain. For every action we undertake, for every word we speak, for every life we touch—it matters. I don’t turn toward the light because it means someday I’ll ‘win’ some sort of cosmic game. you do not understand how much absolute brainrot i have over elenwë right now. like. she’s the lynchpin she’s a martyr she’s a tragic figure she’s a ghost she’s a mother she’s haunted and haunting all at once!! like. the amount that could have CHANGED had she simply survived the helcaraxë --- or the amount that could have been changed if turgon had saved her in idril’s place.

i am having So Many Thoughts about elenwë and the fall of gondolin rn genuinely help me.

because these lines only make sense within the context of an immortal life where death and loss is only a very faint thought, but humanity has dealt with love and loss intertwined since the day we were born. it’s always been this way. it will always be this way.

okay. so listen. in december 2020 i wasn't in a good place. i'd just gone through very stressful exams, my longtime crush had just rejected me, and someone i trusted had just stabbed me in the back. mentally, i wasn't doing well. you could say i was in a hole, and actively digging myself deeper. i put on a mask, and tried to be happy.

julie and the phantoms turned my life around. i don't want to know what would've happened if i'd continued down that spiral. but i remember watching the first episode of jatp and feeling my heart just fill with happiness for the first time in a long time.

julie, luke, alex & reggie gave me so much more. in 2021, i came out as bi and ace, and my confidence & courage shot up 10x. julie and the phantoms has done so much for me, guys, and i know it's done so much for you as well.

and while i can semi-understand the reasoning behind its cancellation (as @pearlcaddy​ said in her post), i'm not going down without a fucking fight.

i've heard by word of mouth that several streaming services are looking into picking up jatp, and this post by @garc-i-a​ gives some reasoning, so:

here's a petition that has almost 150,000 signatures as of 06/01/22. here's a hulu petition that's one of the highest on hulu's page and has above 1000 votes. linked in the comments are the emails of hulu, disney and hbo max's support teams, as well as the possible emails for most of the top executives at hulu.

i don't know what else to do but sign these petitions and email these corporations. if anyone has anything more that they can do, please drop a reply in the comments or in your reblog.

and please, please reblog. i don't care if your blog has 10 followers or 10,000- every reblog counts. every person matters.

i was today years old when i realised that uncanny valley (from the miraculous new york special) is called uncanny valley because, and i quote, “uncanny valley is a hypothesis that human replicas that appear almost, but not exactly, like real human beings elicit feelings of eeriness and revulsion among some observers.”
