HII!! okay okay so i have NO CLUE!! if this is going to be seen!! and honestly im pretty okay w that cuz even tho this is a thought ive had for a week or two now, i havent really acted on it until now. BUT BUT LISTEN PLS!! okay so recently ive been seeing A LOT of hunger games cross overs from fandoms im in (read: i js read a toa hunger games crossover) and i geeked out ab a lot of them as one does. and, well, rangers apprentice has always been something of a comfort series for me since i first picked it up in my sixth grade library and i wanted to do a crossover fiction w them ofc!! but i also love the fandom surrounding it, and ive always thought everyone in it is a huge inspiration and incredibly kind, so i wanted to include the fandom somehow in my initial planning. thus!! i introduce you to my idea: you guys plan this fic w me!! i wanna hear YOUR ideas and YOUR input! who do u think should beling in district 1? district 2? who fills president snow’s shoes in this au? will this follow the classic linear hunger games plot directly or will it be a loosely inspired piece?? i want this to be like. a shared fandom piece, does that make sense?

now again, i honestly have no clue how this is going to be received.. like genuinely and in all honesty, i js wanna have fun w this idea and i wanna share it with yall!! i AM going to make a hunger games au for this fandom even if i do it alone, hut i thought it would be way more fun w the fandom! the vore community has been, and will continue to be a place that is unsafe for both minors and victims of any form of abuse or grooming suffered within it. people have proven time and time again that they will refuse to acknowledge or in fact, violently defend abusers for any reason they can cook up because they do not want to face the consequences of doing so- all people want to do is consume vore content thoughtlessly and if ignoring their favorite artist's grooming allegations means they can do it, then so be it. ignorance is bliss- that's why so many blogs around here are still firmly in the "i don't care who interacts with me!!" boat if it means they don't have to think about it. believe it or not, you have to think about your actions in a kink space even if you don't see it as one.

you can't just excuse away the harm you're enabling with "i didn't know," or "i don't want to talk about that, i just wanna vibe and look at pictures of people eating each other!" that is still enabling, that is still causing harm, and that's just proving to hurt people that there's no one they can trust and when it comes down to it, no one will stick up for them when they open up about the things they've suffered. it's always the victims who are wrong for standing up for themselves or calling attention to people that have been or are still doing harm (especially if they aren't cordial and nonthreatening in the way they talk about it, even though they have every right to be upset), because there's no way your favorite artist could do something bad! their art is too good! their writing is too well-done to be made by someone bad! so it must be them who's wrong, because the abuser said so and the victim was mean! why don't we all attack the victim for daring to open up and nitpick how they did it, because surely that is what prevents people from being hurt! ignore how nobody's actually done any of these things, btw (and if they did, they get ignored immediately).

at worst, these people are callous and cruel and are abusers themselves. at best, these people are enabling harm to be perpetuated because they don't want to acknowledge it. or they're too scared to be dogpiled too, or whatever other reason there is. this culture this community fosters needs to die out or people will continue to be used and abused.

this blog will never come off hiatus. not while this place and people i used to admire and trust continue to prove themselves to be the kinds of people that will justify the sexual abuse i endured for years in this community.

so accidentally-on-purpose starting a cult with your best friend in your teens on a mystical and infinite train isn't exactly the most relatable experience in the world, so i always think it's interesting to look at what real-world parallels grace and simon's relationship fallout has to the real world. one that i've spoken about a lot before is how it feels to realise that your guy best friend only wanted you for your body (which is barely even a parallel with grace and simon, really, as it's an implicit part of simon's perception of grace), but i think another major and very current one is political radicalisation

because yes, the paramaters of simon's radicalisation are fantastical, because they're based around the train and denizens and such, but the mechanics of his radicalisation - and how grace responds to it - are the same as they would be in real life. as the season progresses, simon's justification for his treatment of hazel, his resentment of grace, his perception of amelia, all become wild and borderline incomprehensible. yet he asserts them as if they are the truth, rather than something that he's made up, or something that feels true to him. it's reminiscent of reconnecting with a friend or relative you haven't seen in a while and their conversation diverting hard out of the blue to talk about right-wing conspiracy.

and, like you might to this friend in real life, grace tries to extend a hand to simon - explaining her own behaviour, apologising, assuring him she understands that she hurt him - she even tries to meet him where he is (think: when she tries to include hazel in the apex after it's revealed to everyone that hazel is a denizen). she does everything she can think of to bring him back down to reality and to empathise with him, but it falls on deaf ears.

and, then, the optics of it all - simon being a white man, while grace is a black woman (i also think it matters that tuba, amelia, and hazel are all women as well). if you apply this lens to simon and grace, there's certainly a racist and sexist dimension to his refusal to see her as a person the further he is radicalised.

tl;dr i'm not trying to say the writers had this in mind when writing book 3, but simon and grace's arc pretty much follows the real-world experience of watching your friend go down the alt-right pipeline

To be a Hater, you must go at it alone. You must be known as "the guy who hates XYZ" in your friend group. If everyone in that group falls under that umbrella, then you've got yourself a crab bucket. Not even in a "getting help" sense, you'll just feed off each other in an endless cycle wasting too much of your time until that's all you ever talk about.

If you've ever seen subreddits dedicated to venting/problems or being critical of something, you'll understand why. Normal people say their piece and move on. They won't stick around for long. However, in order for those subs to be maintained and its community to remain active, you need to have regulars keeping the ball rolling. When that happens day in and day out with no breaks, that's just a downwards spiral, mister.

Ranting to friends who don't actually give a shit is key. Their zen attitude grounds you back to reality, and your disdain for shit that doesn't matter is amusing from the sidelines. For me: One friend is "the one who hates Fourth Wing." Another is "the one who hates Danganronpa." I'm "the guy who hates Legend of Korra." We all have our own niche, and by maintaining a variety of haters who don't all agree, we cultivate a welcoming environment of complaining.
