Ghost Power Theories/Predictions
Now that we know all of the main 8’s powers, here are some guesses for what the other ghosts’ ghost powers could be.
Nigel

• Metal detectors go off if he’s close enough to them. (Due to the metal bullet lodged in his chest)
OR
• When upset enough and has reached his limit, objects around him start to break or malfunction. (Examples include mirrors, glasses, lights, the television, tea kettle)
OR
• Can be seen and heard on ghost hunting equipment unlike other ghosts. (Such as EVP’s, EMF readers, and photographs)
Jenkins

• When he fires his musket, the livings can hear it.
OR
• Is able to produce the smell of gunpowder when walked through by a living.
Baxter

•(Similar to Jenkins’) Livings can hear him when he plays his fife.
OR
• If he plays his fife high enough, it can shatter glass.
Crash

• He’s able to turn on/off motorcycles and drive them.
Stephanie

• When livings walk through her, they become temporarily rude. (Basically like how Stephanie was a mean girl when she was alive)
OR
• She can scratch livings resembling the chainsaw marks on her back.
Carol

• (Similar to Elias’) When livings walk through her, they become unfaithful to their spouses.
OR
• When walked through, the living is unable to lie for the rest of the day. (A little nod to the fact that she basically lied to Pete everyday about cheating on him so in contrast, the living have no choice but to tell the truth)

Stubborn — Zak Bagans x Reader
“Y/n, why don’t you go to the top floor of the Villisca Axe Murder house? Stay on the top of the stairs and stay there for about maybe ten minutes. If you feel anything beforehand, don’t hesitate to call for us,” Zak finished in a firm voice.
“On it,” y/n answered in an unusually cheerful voice that surprised everyone. Zak handed y/n some equipment, including an EMF reader and an EVP recorder. Y/n made her way halfway up the stair before she stopped and sat down.
“I have an EMF detector,” said the reader, “along with this EVP recorder. The EMF will record any electro-magnetic pockets that are said to be spirits, and the EVP recorder will record any voices that are not mine. So I’mma turn this on —” She quickly turned on the EVP “— And rolling.” She paused for a moment, the silence pressing in on her ears. She swallowed. “Why do you like to harm people here?” She paused. Are you the Reverend? Or are you something more sinister? Was the murderer possessed?” She paused. “Ending. Guys, I’m coming back down and we can listen to this recording session together,” y/n called through the Walkie Talkie the guys had her carry around.
“Be careful, y/n/n,” Zak answered as y/n began to climb down the stairs.
But as she does she feels something push her down the stairs. She yelps in surprise as she feels a force on her shoulder blades, and she tumbles down the stairs, landing painfully on her head at the final step, groaning. She can hear running footsteps coming towards her and she can faintly hear Zak’s voice from nearby.
“Oh, my God! Y/n! Are you alright?!”
“I’m fine,” y/n gasps in return as Zak tries to help her stand up. She winces and carefully presses her fingers to where she had landed on the back of her head.
“That looked like a painful fall, y/n,” Zak insisted. “You should go sit down.”
“Zak, I’m fine,” y/n insisted, though she winces slightly from the slight movement of her head. “Ow.”
“Nope. That’s it. You’re coming back to rest at nerve center. I can have someone else take your place.”
“Zak,” y/n whines as he pulls her from the ax murder house.
“Y/n/n,” Zak mimics. He then gives her a stern look, his voice suddenly serious again. “Really, y/n/n. You hit your head hard.”
“I’m not a baby.”
“I just don’t want you to get hurt, y/n/n. Please?”
The puppy dog eyes that Zak gives her makes y/n’s shoulders relax. A genuine smile forms on her lips. His large, warm hand fit perfectly in hers as he tries to tug her out of the house.
“Alright, Zak. You win.”
Zak carefully leads y/n over towards nerve center where the rest of the boys were waiting. Nick has an ice pack in his hands and he hands the pack over towards y/n. She takes it gratefully and presses the cold pack on the back of her head. A look of relief floods across her face.
“See? I told you that you’d feel better,” Zak teases. Y/n opens her eyes, scowling at Zak.
“Shut up, Zak.”
“Right,” Zak answers, looking slightly amused. He turns to Aaron. “Hey, Aaron. Wanna go finish y/n’s job in the house?”
Aaron sighs, looking defeated. He shakes his head momentarily.
“Fine. I’ll do it.”
“That’s the spirit.”

How to Communicate with Ghosts
The fascination with communicating with ghosts, or the spirits of the dead, has always captivated humans, leading to the creation of numerous techniques throughout history. The practice, which aims to close the gap between the material world and the spirit realm, frequently combines ritual, belief, and occasionally technology. One of the most common ways to communicate with ghosts is through mediums. Those who profess to be able to perceive and converse with spirits are known as mediums. A medium may go into a trance-like state during a séance, which enables a spirit to speak through them to the living. In order to verify the spirit's existence and identity, the medium frequently communicates certain details about them. Typically, seances take place in a serene, dimly lit environment to enhance concentration and minimize external disturbances.
Using spirit boards, like the Ouija board, is another popular strategy. When asking questions out loud, participants place their hands lightly on a little movable indicator called a planchette. People believe that the spirits will guide the planchette to spell out the answers on the board. Some people consider this to be a kind of entertainment, but others think it's a real instrument for communicating with spirits. On the other hand, people frequently suggest care because they believe it can provide access to evil or harmful entities. Modern technology has also opened up new avenues for communicating with spirits. Using audio recording equipment, people who engage in electronic voice phenomena (EVP) attempt to capture sounds they perceive to be the voices of the dead. Practitioners will pose queries and provide room for answers before going over the recordings to look for any strange noises or voices. Similarly, to find and record paranormal activity, ghost hunters may employ infrared thermometers, video cameras, and electromagnetic field (EMF) detectors. Dreams are another way some people think they can communicate with ghosts. Many people claim to see comforting, guiding, or message-giving images of their departed loved ones in their dreams. Writing in a dream journal might assist people in remembering and analyzing these experiences, looking for trends or interpretations that could point to interstellar contact. Certain civilizations engage in pre-sleep rituals or prayers in order to facilitate this kind of communication. Some cultures employ offerings and rituals to facilitate ghost communication. Creating a sacred area, lighting candles, burning incense, and making offerings of food or drink are common components of these rituals. In order to communicate with the spirit, the individual pursuing contact may also use personal items from the deceased or perform certain prayers and chants. These customs aim to honor the spirit and cultivate a friendly atmosphere for it.
Visualization and meditation are additional techniques. People may go into a meditative state where they concentrate their thoughts and energies on making a connection with a particular spirit. One way to use visualization techniques is to picture a location where people can get together and speak with the spirit in a clear and safe manner. This technique needs a great deal of focus and practice, along with a firm belief in one's capacity to communicate with the spirit realm. The goal of communicating with and comprehending the world beyond our physical existence is the fundamental idea that unites all of these approaches, despite their differences in methodology and cultural relevance. Since speaking with the deceased is very intimate and frequently emotional, it is crucial to undertake these rituals with caution and respect. The search to communicate with the spirit realm, whether through conventional rites or contemporary technology, never ceases to enthrall and inspire.

Phantom Alerts: How the Ghost Tracker Alarm is Changing the Paranormal Game

Have you ever felt a chill down your spine for no reason or heard an unexplained creak in the dead of night? For centuries, people have tried to make sense of strange phenomena — from haunted houses to ghostly apparitions. While skeptics might scoff, believers continue their search for answers. Now, thanks to technology, that search is becoming more precise. Enter the Ghost Tracker Alarm — a device that's bridging the gap between ancient legends and modern tech.
What is a Ghost Tracker Alarm?
At first glance, the name might seem like something out of a horror movie or a Halloween novelty store, but the Ghost Tracker Alarm is a real tool designed for one purpose: detecting anomalies in your environment that could be interpreted as paranormal activity. These devices typically combine multiple sensors — including EMF detectors, motion detectors, temperature gauges, and sound sensors — to track changes in a space.
The alarm aspect comes into play when these sensors pick up sudden or unexplained changes. For example, a spike in electromagnetic frequency (EMF) with no electronic source nearby, or a rapid temperature drop in a small area, could trigger an alert.
The Tech Behind the Spook
The Ghost Tracker Alarm leverages several scientific tools, repurposed for the paranormal field:
EMF Detection: Spirits are believed by some to emit or interfere with electromagnetic fields. EMF meters measure these fluctuations, especially when no nearby electronics are present to explain them.
Infrared Motion Sensors: Used in security systems, these detect movement by measuring changes in infrared radiation. In a supposedly empty room, movement detected by these sensors raises eyebrows — and pulses.
Temperature Sensors: Sudden “cold spots” are a common sign reported in haunted locations. Thermal sensors can log and report these sudden shifts.
Audio Anomaly Detection: High-sensitivity microphones and AI processing help pick up and interpret EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena), which some believe are ghostly voices.
Once a threshold is crossed — whether it's an unexplained spike in EMF or a sudden drop in temperature — the alarm is triggered. It can be a sound, light, or even a notification sent directly to a smartphone.
Paranormal Investigators’ New Best Friend
For amateur ghost hunters and seasoned investigators alike, the Ghost Tracker Alarm has become an essential part of the toolkit. Not only does it provide a constant watch over an area, but it also eliminates human bias and forgetfulness. Instead of standing still for hours waiting for something to happen, investigators can let the tracker monitor the space and focus their attention only when the alarm signals activity.
Many teams are now using these alarms in conjunction with video cameras and audio recorders. When the alarm sounds, footage from that exact moment can be reviewed for visual or auditory clues — increasing the odds of capturing credible evidence.
Real-Life Use Cases
One popular use of the Ghost Tracker Alarm is in historic locations known for hauntings — old prisons, asylums, battlefields, and mansions. In some cases, visitors have experienced the alarm triggering even when all team members are accounted for and no known environmental explanation can be found. While it doesn’t prove the presence of a ghost, it certainly adds intrigue to the investigation.
In more domestic settings, some people install these devices at home — not necessarily for ghost hunting, but to explain recurring unexplained occurrences. For example, mysterious knocking sounds, moving objects, or an unsettling presence can be monitored more objectively. Visit us
Skepticism Meets Curiosity
It’s important to note that the Ghost Tracker Alarm, while compelling, isn’t proof of paranormal activity on its own. Each environmental trigger could have a mundane explanation: fluctuating wiring could cause EMF spikes, drafts can cause temperature changes, and pets or insects can trigger motion sensors.
However, the Ghost Tracker Alarm shines in its ability to record and analyze these incidents over time, offering patterns and correlations that could either explain or deepen the mystery. Even skeptics can use the data to rule out non-paranormal causes — which, in itself, is a valuable function.
Whether you're a firm believer in the supernatural or a tech enthusiast with a curious mind, the Ghost Tracker Alarm is a fascinating example of how modern technology is being adapted for unusual purposes. It brings a new level of structure to a field often dismissed as unscientific, providing real-time alerts and measurable data.

Spirit Talker vs. Other Paranormal Apps: Which One Should You Choose?
The growing interest in paranormal investigations has led to the development of several mobile apps designed to help users detect and communicate with spirits. These apps claim to leverage smartphone sensors such as gyroscopes, magnetometers, and EMF detectors to capture ghostly presence and paranormal activity. One such app, Spirit Talker, has gained attention for its versatility and ease of use. But how does it compare with other popular paranormal apps? In this blog, we’ll take a deep dive into Spirit Talker and contrast it with some of its competitors, including Ghost Radar, Necrophonic, Ghost Hunting Tools, and Ghost Tube.
Overview of Paranormal Apps
Before we dive into individual comparisons, it’s essential to understand the core premise of these apps. Most paranormal apps claim to use built-in smartphone features such as:
EMF (Electromagnetic Field) Detection: A key function in many ghost-hunting apps, it measures electromagnetic fields that are believed to be altered by the presence of spirits.
EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena) Recorders: These are designed to capture faint, often unintelligible sounds believed to be spirit voices.
Radar-like Detection Systems: Many apps display a radar that supposedly shows the location of spirits in your environment.
Thermal and Infrared Imaging: Some apps attempt to utilize the smartphone’s camera to detect fluctuations in temperature, which could signal paranormal activity.
Each app has its own unique combination of these features, but Spirit Talker stands out with its emphasis on usability, customization, and accuracy. Let’s now see how it compares with other popular options.
Spirit Talker: Key Features
Spirit Talker markets itself as a modern tool for spirit communication. Its focus is on simplicity while still offering advanced features like:
SLS Camera Functionality: Using your device’s camera, Spirit Talker claims to allow users to detect humanoid figures by mapping them out on the screen. This resembles the Kinect-based Structured Light Sensor (SLS) cameras used in professional ghost hunting.
EMF Detection and Real-Time Feedback: It uses your smartphone’s sensors to detect electromagnetic fields, providing instant feedback to users on whether spirits might be present.
Word Generation System: One of Spirit Talker’s signature tools, it claims to generate words that spirits can use to communicate with users in real-time. These words are often displayed alongside context or explanations.
Audio and Visual Evidence Collection: The app allows users to capture audio and images to document any supernatural occurrences they encounter, providing tools for both professional investigators and hobbyists.
Ghost Radar: Simplicity with a Legacy
Ghost Radar is perhaps one of the oldest and best-known paranormal apps on the market. Its standout feature is its radar interface, which displays supposed spirit activity around the user.
Radar Interface: The app shows blips on a radar screen to indicate where spiritual entities may be in the user’s surroundings.
Word Generation System: Much like Spirit Talker, Ghost Radar claims to convert energy from spirits into words. The app has a dictionary of words that it presents to users based on environmental changes.
Focus on Fun: Although it has many downloads, some users and skeptics have criticized the app for being more of a novelty or entertainment tool than a serious investigative tool.
Comparison to Spirit Talker: While Ghost Radar focuses on simplicity, its accuracy and serious investigative use are often called into question. In contrast, Spirit Talker offers more robust detection tools, such as the SLS camera, making it a better choice for serious ghost hunters.
Necrophonic: Audio-Based Spirit Communication
Necrophonic is a popular app among ghost hunters primarily due to its focus on EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena) sessions.
EVP Session Focus: Unlike other apps that rely on radars or visuals, Necrophonic uses audio manipulation and sound banks to create “white noise” environments where spirits supposedly communicate through recorded sound clips.
Echo and Reverb Effects: The app offers customization in audio settings to increase the chances of capturing spirit voices by adding effects like echo and reverb to enhance the white noise background.
Minimal Visual Elements: With no radar or mapping tools, Necrophonic focuses on the auditory aspect of paranormal investigations.
Comparison to Spirit Talker: Spirit Talker includes audio recording capabilities, but it combines this with other tools like radar and an SLS camera. If your main interest is in EVP sessions, Necrophonic may be a better choice. However, for a well-rounded investigation, Spirit Talker offers more versatility.
Ghost Hunting Tools: An Accessible, All-Rounder App
Another popular choice for mobile ghost hunting is Ghost Hunting Tools, which aims to provide users with an easy-to-use platform for paranormal investigations.
EMF Meter: Similar to Spirit Talker, it offers an EMF meter that measures fluctuations in electromagnetic fields, believed to be tied to ghostly presence.
Spirit Box Functionality: Like Spirit Talker, Ghost Hunting Tools includes a spirit box that generates words or phrases that spirits might use to communicate with investigators.
Simplified Design: The app’s interface is straightforward, making it accessible even to users with little experience in ghost hunting.
Comparison to Spirit Talker: Ghost Hunting Tools is simpler and less feature-rich compared to Spirit Talker. While it offers basic EMF detection and a spirit box, it lacks advanced features like the SLS camera or the depth of customization available in Spirit Talker. For beginners, Ghost Hunting Tools might be appealing, but Spirit Talker remains the superior option for serious enthusiasts.
Ghost Tube: Modern and Feature-Rich
Ghost Tube is another app designed for serious paranormal investigators, offering a wide variety of tools.
Video and Audio Recording: Ghost Tube stands out for its ability to record video while running spirit-detecting tools, allowing users to document their investigations more effectively.
Visual and Auditory Detection: In addition to EVP recording, the app uses the phone’s camera to look for visual anomalies and includes an EMF meter.
SLS Camera Similarity: Like Spirit Talker, Ghost Tube provides a feature that attempts to map out human figures in the environment using the phone’s camera.
Comparison to Spirit Talker: Both apps have similarities, particularly in their use of cameras for SLS-style tracking. However, Spirit Talker is more focused on word generation and audio-based communication, while Ghost Tube excels in video documentation. Depending on your focus — whether visual or auditory evidence — one app may suit you better than the other.
Conclusion: Which App Should You Choose?
Choosing the right paranormal app depends largely on what aspect of ghost hunting interests you the most. Here’s a breakdown to help you decide:
For Well-Rounded Investigations: Spirit Talker is the best choice. With its mix of EMF detection, SLS camera, word generation, and audio tools, it covers all bases for serious ghost hunters.
For Audio-Focused Investigations: If EVP sessions are your main interest, Necrophonic or Spirit Talker are both good options, though Necrophonic offers more customization for audio effects.
For Visual Documentation: Ghost Tube stands out for its ability to record video during investigations, making it a strong option for those who prioritize visual evidence.
For Simplicity and Fun: If you’re new to ghost hunting and looking for an easy-to-use app, Ghost Radar or Ghost Hunting Tools offer simple, beginner-friendly interfaces.
Ultimately, Spirit Talker shines for its blend of accessibility and advanced features, making it a go-to for both amateur and experienced ghost hunters alike.

Ghost Restoration
Ghost Restoration Titles
NARRATOR: Welcome back to Ghost Restoration, here, as always, are our experts! Travis Roberts, Psychic, Medium, Empath, who will glare at you if you ask he's a cold reader!
Shot of Travis, dark hair with a streak of white, mild tan, with his hand against a wall.
TRAVIS: I sense a feeling of something that was hidden here.
Shot of the wall being dug into, and old documents found.
NARRATOR: Stacy Torres, researcher of electrical anomalies!
Shot of Stacy, red haired and freckled, setting up several electrical devices.
STACY: If anyone's here, please come in front of the motion detector.
Motion detector beeps and lights up.
NARRATOR: And Francisco Correia, home construction specialist.
Shot of cabinet door opening by itself, then Francisco, blond with a pale complexion, using level and other tools around it.
FRANCISCO: Okay, this door is enough tilted that a slight jar will cause it to open. It's just from one of the hinges screwed in too tight, I'll loosen it.
Shot of Francisco smacking the counter and the cabinet door opens, then another shot of him smacking the counter and the cabinet door stays closed.
NARRATOR: Together, they check out haunted houses for any cause they can find.
Montage of the group in various houses.
FRANCISCO: Okay, you've got a carbon monoxide leak, we're taking you all to the hospital for checkups, then a few nights at a hotel while I fix it.
STACY: Okay, you've got some EMF currents causing the lights flickering, I'll see if I can fix it.
TRAVIS: No, it's all your kid, have you tried paying more attention to him?
NARRATOR: And most of the time? The problem is mundane.
STACY: So, you literally have ants in the wires. It happens sometimes.
TRAVIS: I'm actually pretty sure you've got someone stalking the house. Stacy can set up some cameras.
FRANCISCO: Jesus Christ, that's Black Mold, no wonder you've all been seeing and hearing shit.
NARRATOR: But every so often, something weird does turn up.
TRAVIS: Okay, I actually think this is a legitimate haunting.
FRANCISCO: You only get this from animal rot behind the wall, but there's just dirt... We'll need to dig it up.
STACY: This is the most believable EVP I've ever recorded.
NARRATOR: Today, we're going to the Vargas family, who've been reporting seeing figures out of the corners of their eyes and hearing whispering voices, as well as feelings of pure terror.
Shot of Travis, Stacy and Francisco walking down a residential street. A lot of trees, primarily evergreens, are seen around the area.
TRAVIS: Well, whatever's going on, it sounds awful. I hope we can help them.
STACY: I mean, I can think of a few mundane ways this can happen.
FRANCISCO: As can I, but best to check it out ourselves, and not speculate.
We see the Vargas residence, an older house with signs of recent renovations. Out front is Trent Vargas, weatherworn and balding, with a thing dark crest of hair.
TRENT: Thank you all for coming. Let's go inside.
Inside shot of all four entering, signs of renovations stopped partway through.
TRENT: It started half-way through the renovations. The workmen as well as Anita, my daughter, kept reporting seeing figures out of the corner of their eyes. Then I started hearing whispers, and Alan, my son, refuses to enter his room. It's creepy as hell in there.
The three look at each other. Francisco starts.
FRANCISCO: Could I talk to some of the workers?
TRENT: Absolutely.
TRAVIS & STACY: We'd like to see your son's room.
Trent swallows, then nods.
Shot of Stacy stepping into the threshold of a room, then startling.
STACY: Holy shit, what is that?
Stacy quickly steps back out of the room, shot pans to Travis, looking concerned.

Google play Ghost detection apps
Ok well so most are fake, and I am not sure how some work, but some are programed to go boo when its time lol but there are some that are worth a look:
Ghost Detector Real Life Radar - Apps on Google Play
This is like the one I used, maybe they updated it. But up pops ghostly energy as you move through your room or house or even when you are not moving. If its the one I used 83/100 score from me for realness.
Ghost Hunting Tools - Apps on Google Play
This one spits out words, some could be fairly accurate. 53/100 score from me.
EVP Hunter Ghost Detector - Apps on Google Play
This one reminds me of the one I used; it also uses frequencies. If you are very sensitive to atmospheres, I would not use this one in those.
Someone specified an interest in witchcraft because they liked the paranormal and ghosts. Paganism and witchcraft do not have anything to do with the paranormal and ghosts, except when dealing with mediumship and passing over or Samhain or Halloween or something.
If you have trouble sleeping at night for whatever reason be cautious to real or fake spirit energy because you will lay there until the morning light awake in the dark or with a light on. I literally spooked myself using these apps and I am not easily frightened. Make sure you have some salt bath scrub, doing paranormal work makes you feel icky if you are walking around in some weird atmospheres.
If you don't believe me well I warned you.

So before last night I was a skeptic… ghost investigating story for anyone who wants it.
we get to our first location and walk into a farm house that was a field hospital . I ask permission to enter because it’s just polite. Everyone else rushes in. Group of 16 ppl total. Ppl trickled in last min 😂
We go and stand in the old kitchen area; which is where surgeries were preformed. I start feeling like someone is sitting in a chair. I keep this to myself.
As our guide is talking tells us be respectful don’t antagonize etc and goes through the tools I feel someone’s hand on my shoulder again I looked behind me.
I don’t freak out outwardly but I wait until ppl start to leave take out one of the detectors (don’t remember the name) but it lights up when a spirit touches it.
It starts going off consistently the guide comes over and literally has me turn it off and on again and says we normally don’t get activity in this room as the boys hate being in here as it was the surgery room.
He takes another tool out and it says 2.5. Which is indicative to a ghosty friend being there. I’ve basically been close to crying the whole night I ask permission to sit down. I put a detector next to me. And another couple brings out the evp box or spirit box. Everyone else besides us 4 had left the room.
We start talking and in the evp box the spirit repeats my name back instantly crying. Instantly I get this gut feeling.
We found out his name was Sam.
He owned the house
Was not a solider
Liked to help the boys
His wife Samantha came to say hi.
We talked for like 45 mins.
I see an image of Sam flash before my eyes that he likes to write and I ask him he says yes 😭
We went to a second location and the spirits were grumpy and told us to get out so we went to the well outside and chatted to Thomas who told us the water was bad and us ladies were in danger because the war was still happening Afterwards we were told that in Gettysburg so many dead bodies were buried the blood got into the wells so the water killed so many soldiers as they were recovering. I think he is a residual haunting 😂
Thomas also called me an old maid when I told him I was 30 and unmarried and he told me sorry 😂
10/10 was respectful and honestly a beautiful experience.
The couple I hung out with during the hunt were super respectful as well which is why we found so much activity. Those that were rushing about didn’t.
I’m really excited to get the evidence in 2 months that we found 😂

But see, Sam performed the ultimate, unforgivable sin of making fun of Dean’s homemade EVP detector. HE DESERVES NO EXPLANATION FOR THE VOICEMAIL. /s
Yeah kripke era is the best era but. His biggest transgression? Never getting sam and dean to talk about the voicemail. coz how are you gonna just dump that on us and leave it completely unresolved? You can't just leave me here watching Sam live his life believing that his brother said all those things to him like what?

Ghosts Caught on Audio: The 7 Recordings and EVPs You Have to Listen To
It was only a week ago that I got a question from fellow tumblr user, @madphantom.
@madphantom told me that they picked up some paranormal activity whilst recording audio for a creative project.
The story goes that when they recorded audio for an actor who had died, things started to get weird.
When they replayed the audio, they realised that they had picked up a lot of static, and compared it to the iconic soundtrack from Slenderman’s notorious horror games.
Yikes.
And it was this story that reminded me of one my favourite horror film scenes, basically, ever from one of my favourite horror films, basically, ever.
There’s this scene from the film The Conjuring (which is based on the true case of the haunting of the Perron family) where they record the story of the haunting from one of the victims – the mother of the family.
And upon replaying the audio, they realised it didn’t actually record her voice.
After discussion of some key plot points, the recorder turned itself on and produced some seriously terrifying haunted noises.
Now, this didn’t actually happen as far as I can tell.
But it got me thinking: has paranormal activity ever been caught on audio?
There’s enough faked videos clogging up the youtube trending page to tell you we all love a bit of the supernatural making its online debut, and the same goes for audio recordings.
Go ahead, try ‘creepy audio recordings of the paranormal’ into youtube.
And so I was convinced that essentially, I had come to a dead end.
(Pun unintended.)
But then I remembered something:
Audio recordings are actually really fucking important when it comes to recording and investigating paranormal activity.
Methods like EVP and the use of Spirit Boxes have ruled the domain of ghost hunting since the late 20th century, and represent our desperate search for evidence of life after death.
And so, in today’s edition of The Paranormal Periodical we are going to be discussing the theories and histories behind EVP and Spirit boxes, and the 7 audio recordings of paranormal activity that you have to listen to.
So, what is EVP?
EVP – or electronic voice phenomena – are recorded sounds that have been identified as coming from spirits.
It was popularised by some bloke called Konstantins Raudive, and he himself recorded some seriously amazing EVPs.
He even claimed that he recorded political figures including Hitler and Churchill. Fancy a listen? Find a link to this recording is later in this post.
Now EVP is defined by Raudive as a short word or phrase from beyond the grave.
So no, you won’t be able to squeeze a 3000 word opinion piece from a historical figure of your choosing, I’m afraid.
But the conversation about paranormal audio recordings has been present ever since digital goods hit the shops. Just think of all those blurry photos supposedly evident of the undead!
In fact, it was actually a photographer who tried to capture the first audio recordings.
Attila von Szalay’s first recordings in 1956 apparently caught spirits saying some seriously scary stuff:
“Hot dog, art!...Merry Christmas and happy new year to you all”.
3 years later a swedish guy was recording some bird song.
Each to their own, I guess.
Anyway, he replayed the bird song, and he realised that he had captured evidence of the supernatural.
He made out his dead father’s voice, and even heard the voice of his dead wife. And she was calling his name!
A few recordings later and he picked up a message from another deceased relative, his mother.
Now according to theory, there are 3 types of EVP.
Basically, classification A is a clear voice, B is distinct but requires close listening, and C is a faint whispering.
EVP training is even required for ghost hunting in order to develop the ability to hear messages from the dead. Clearly this is serious business for fellow paranormal believers.
What’s a spirit box?
EVP’s require a digital audio recording.
Spirit boxes on the other hand allow spirits to use radio frequencies to talk to people that are actually alive.
Supposedly the ghosts can manipulate the energy of audio fragments to form words and phrases not unlike those heard in EVPs.
And the great thing about spirit or ghost boxes is that you don’t just listen to the dead – you can actually talk to them!
Normal practice involves asking questions and listening out for rather abstract responses. But the fact is this is one of the most famous and trusted methods of communicating with those beyond the grave.
The first official ghost box was created in the 1990s, and the inventor – Frank Sumpton – created it based off of EVP and an article he read on spirit communication.
But if you aren’t convinced by the ghost box, what about the Spiricom?
Invented in 1980, William O Neil created a device that could actually hold a conversation between a dead and a not so dead person.
Unfortunately – and to no surprise – no one actually reproduced the results O’Neil claimed he had.
Did you know that in 1979 parapyschologist Dr. Rogo claimed that you could get phonecalls from those that had passed away? People frequently report receiving a short one-way call from deceased relatives, and it has even been considered a phenomenon.
So, you’ve heard the theories.
But are you ready for the evidence?
Here are the 7 spookiest audio recordings of spirits:
#1 - The exorcism of Anneliese Michel
This is a recording from possibly the most famous case of possession of modern times.
Heck, it was even given it’s own film to document the case, The Exorcism of Emily Rose.
But if you haven’t heard the tale yourself, the story basically goes like this:
A devout catholic girl starts exhibiting strange behaviour.
From unexplained seizures to claims of hearing multiple ‘evil’ voices, she was eventually deemed possessed.
And whilst the many recordings of her exorcisms aren’t EVP or recordings from a Spirit Box session, this is firm evidence of how important recordings were to investigating evidence of the paranormal.

And below is accurate footage of me noping the fuck outta here:
#2 - Next up is the Enfield Haunting
Now this case is interesting because it was largely considered a hoax evoked by 2 young girls.
Investigators used tape recorders and some EVP to assess the potential nature of the haunting.
What’s interesting here is that the debate largely centres around the supposedly possessed voice of Janet – the main girl involved – caught on tape.
Sceptics claimed it was produced by false vocal chords, and that we can all put on a creepy and different voice when we want.
But it was by analysing the actual vocabulary used, they could claim it was similar to that of a child and not a potential ghost or demon, and often evoked mannerisms similar to that of Janet.
Even on national TV, Janet waved her hand to get attention, put it in front of her mouth, and a strange voice was produced supposedly from nowhere.
Hmm.
What do you think?

#3 - The Haunting of an Unnamed New York Hotel
In early 2007, the Central New York Ghost Hunters were asked to investigate a hotel in New York.
Why was it unnamed? The hotel in question asked for the name to be withheld from public discussions for the obvious reasons that their living visitor numbers would fall.
The investigator’s claim this investigation was one of their most active, which is not a surprise considering its long history.
(Unfortunately, this is hard to trace for this post as I do not have the name of the hotel…)
Anyway, the main activity they picked up was an EVP carried out by someone sitting on a staircase.
You can clearly hear a scuffle between two people as a woman asks someone to get off her, a rather sleazy ‘hello baby’, and even the ring of an old fashioned cuckoo clock.

#4 - The Raudive Recordings
I’ve already mentioned Raudive and his innovatory practice, and thanks to his interest in EVP, he has created an incredible collection of evidence of the paranormal.
In total, he has 72,000 recordings of the paranormal talking.
Holy shit.
And this collection even contains the supposed voices of Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini and Churchill!
He claims Hitler spoke to him in Raudive’s mother tongue of Latvian which Hitler barely learnt while he was alive.
And what did Hitler say?
‘you are a girl here, or else you are thrown out’.
Yeah, I don’t know what that means either…
And what did Churchill say? Well, interpreters don’t really care much for what was said, but how he said it.
It apparently was a convincing EVP as it sounded like him, and was thus supported by many as evidence of the paranormal.
Some of these recordings were even conducted in laboratories to ensure accuracy, and Raudive invited members of the public to listen and interpret the recordings he collected.
So why not try your hand at it too?

#5 - The Glen Tavern Inn
This tavern stretches back to the prohibition era, and its speakeasy history – which included being a brothel and gambling parlour – have fuelled its rumours of supernatural activity.
Whether its murdered prostitutes, or fights between budding gamblers, it does have some basis to the claims.
And these stories were confirmed by an EVP taken.
If you listen closely, you can hear a woman singing as an investigator enters a haunted room.
Check out the EVP here: https://youtu.be/iRtJLPWByFg?list=UU1VrWEFyQYIDKuWWfRjyj7A
#6 - The Eerie Mansion Basement
Now I’ve never heard of this mansion and its murderous past, and I’m kinda glad I hadn’t.
Rumour has it that this was once home to Bill Ely.
And it was here that he killed countless women.
But it was when the American Ghost Hunters took an EVP, they heard some paranormal activity more chilling than the stories that haunt this home.
The investigator’s recorded what sounded like the whimpers of a small girl.
And when they got close to what they believed what the source of the sounds?
A man in a gruff voice told them to ‘Leave that girl alone’.
Yikes.
Want to get seriously spooked? Check out the recording: https://youtu.be/JqQ6dx_w4qs
#7 - The Queen Mary (the boat, not the person)
The Queen Mary is deemed one of the most haunted ships in the world.
And it was all quite a recent discovery.
Only in 2008 did Time magazine claim it was once of the most haunted places, but many other people have made similar claims.
For example, suite room B-340 is one such spot which is considered ‘notoriously haunted’, and a stateroom is haunted by a murder victim.
But the location we are most concerned with here is the first class area.
And an EVP taken here recorded a woman calling for help in an area frequented by many ghost women and children.
Listen to that EVP here: https://youtu.be/re5-OGabpHk
So, we’ve heard what the ghosts have to say.
And now it’s over to you.
Do you think madphantom actually captured evidence of the paranormal?
What about the other audio recordings here?
