Ghost Power Theories/Predictions

Now that we know all of the main 8’s powers, here are some guesses for what the other ghosts’ ghost powers could be.

Nigel

• Metal detectors go off if he’s close enough to them. (Due to the metal bullet lodged in his chest)

OR

• When upset enough and has reached his limit, objects around him start to break or malfunction. (Examples include mirrors, glasses, lights, the television, tea kettle)

OR

• Can be seen and heard on ghost hunting equipment unlike other ghosts. (Such as EVP’s, EMF readers, and photographs)

Jenkins

• When he fires his musket, the livings can hear it.

OR

• Is able to produce the smell of gunpowder when walked through by a living.

Baxter

•(Similar to Jenkins’) Livings can hear him when he plays his fife.

OR

• If he plays his fife high enough, it can shatter glass.

Crash

• He’s able to turn on/off motorcycles and drive them.

Stephanie

• When livings walk through her, they become temporarily rude. (Basically like how Stephanie was a mean girl when she was alive)

OR

• She can scratch livings resembling the chainsaw marks on her back.

Carol

• (Similar to Elias’) When livings walk through her, they become unfaithful to their spouses.

OR

• When walked through, the living is unable to lie for the rest of the day. (A little nod to the fact that she basically lied to Pete everyday about cheating on him so in contrast, the living have no choice but to tell the truth)

I have caught up with Ghosts now and this is the one thing I really need .....

Thor to pick up Elias and throw him off the property. I don't care where he next appears just ... grab him and throw him clear past the boundary line. To the Farnsby property even. I don't care if he potentially could just snap right back to them. Make it a new game for the ghosts - see Elias, toss Elias. Whoever throws him furthest gets a prize.

This also applies to if Hetty's father ever shows up. Added bonus game: any ghosts with weapons utilize weapons.

Now, I say this for a reason ... obviously I love Hetty. However, as I watch the show I have a sneaking suspicion (that the show may or may not confirm) that the version if Hetty we see (even in S1) didn't really start to exist until AFTER Alberta died. Think about it ...

The ghosts (Thor, Isaac, Sasappis, and Patience) got trapped in a hole a year before her death. It's how they didn't know about the vault. She had been traveling (to Michigan- the furthest she seems to ever have gone) just before her own death, and thus why she didn't know. Isaac, Thor, and Sass all confirmed that she was already a ghost when they got back to the house (Patience left behind and with everything that happened ... they managed to forget about going back for Patience).

This leaves Hetty with just the boys. Just them (and the basement ghosts and of course the British ghosts in the shed).

While Hetty was of the upper class and wealthy. Of privilege, she was still - obviously - a woman and as such considered a lesser member of society during her life. And her family treated her as such. We get told this a lot. The one time she almost escaped it - fell in love and was going to run away - her father holds her mothers sanity over her head and forces her to make a choice (while blatantly reminding her it was he who put her mother where she is). We get told she was the price of a land deal - simply because she was the prettier one. Her husband cheats on her, and canonically refers to her as "obedient wife". Even the way she stands - well into the 4th season - says so much about her.

She is the dutiful, obedient, welbred proper woman who will do as told and never complain. For that is her duty.

She makes comments that reflect that, showing just how much she accepted what she was being told at the time.

The thing is .... she died in 1895 in a desperate attempt to save her son from the shame of his father's actions - and by default her actions as she is the dutiful wife afterall, her husband's choices are hers as well, right? - and no one was there after. No one to watch what she did. No one to stand in horror. No one to see the fallout of the vault, the lawyer talk with her, the police coming for her, and her final decision. And, finally, her appearing alone as her staff and the police would have come across her body. And she - ghost as she was - would have been unable to do anything to explain her actions.

All the could do was .... walk through her manor alone. Listen to what these people say. Look over her son as he now takes on the responsibility of the family. And, being the dutiful wife and mother .... stand at his side in her death desperately trying to ensure he makes the right choices.

I'd imagine when the others did get back ... they probably tried to tell her. Tried to give her a welcome. Only for her to not listen, to stubbornly be "the lady of the house" and refuse to accept them as anything more than servants for her now. I could see her insisting on this or that, and it's not much different than what they normally do (spy on livings) so they just shrug and go, believing she'll adjust eventually. But it's not till the night her son poisons Alberta that things shift.

She watches, as this new ghosts appears and the others immediately arrive to welcome her. Immediately ease her into what is happening. She slips backwards - unnerved by this (afterall SHE didn't have that, not till later. Not till after) - only revealing herself when forced to. Alberta makes a "I could definitely use a drink about now" style comment and much to the others surprise Hetty mutters a "cocaine be nice".

Isaac has already been joing Hetty to gaze out windows before this, but it's been silent. Just a sort of stand and say nothing together thing. A means to ensure she isn't alone but the next time when he joins her, it's her who first breaks the silence with a "I didn't see another ghost for days" "we didn't know till we got back" "You all said you got lost" "By accident" "Then ... we make sure it doesn't happen again."

She doesn't say it, and Isaac doesn't ask. It's years later after Sam arrives, and the truth of how Hetty died that she does finally say it out loud and everyone starts to piece together the way Hetty did actually care (even when it seemed like she didnt). The ghost buddy system was her idea, the checking where people where was her, the constant assuring everyone was not somehow lost was her (it's worked till the whole Flower well thing obviously) .... and she's done it all this time because she never wanted someone else to arrive without being welcomed. Without being shown care.

And this is why Elias and her father should be greeted very specific ways. And when they get upset and pull a "not in my house" the immediate reaction from every ghost (and Sam - and Jay by context clues) just instantly being "Excuse you, the lady of the house is Hetty." with added commentary ("yeah, we just keep it for her" "right, I gotta make sure she has her cocaine when I die AND cook the best foods for her to smell") would be amazing.

Admittedly, I suspect something like this would be part of what would get Hetty sucked off. That sudden realization that she has a real true HEALTHY family, that she has been living her life(in death) her way giving her the happiness she finally deserves.... but like I mean .... I can wait for it and they can spread out the torment Elias by tossing him over a few seasons.

Also, introducing the dad as a Hell management person as well in a later season to lead up to something like this be good.

School Spirits x Ghosts crossover

School Spirits=Spirits Ghost=Ghosts

The Ghost are stunned when they see the Spirits interact with the world and they quickly find out that if the Spirits hand them things they can touch it (it's still resets after they're done)

Jay and Sam have to run to the store because the ghost want to try everything.

The spirits are kinda jealous that The ghosts have powers and can walk through walls but immediately take that back cuz they don't have to walk around with the evidence of their deaths showing.

The ghosts are absolutely horrified about the idea of scars.

Rhonda and Flower were both died in the 60s but Rhonda is more Beatnik and Flower is more Hippie. And if I did my math right Pete grew up in the late 50s 60s too (don't quote me I haven't watched ghosts in a bit but wiki said he was born in the 40s)

On that I think Trevor and Wally are a similar age?

Do you think it's worse to live in a Manor with powers and the scars of your death for eternity or the High School you went to where you can interact but not change anything around you and theirs a room that shows you your own personal hell?

Thinking about Flower and her journey and honestly I want to just touch on her trauma.

She grew up around a uncle who got her weed and would stare at her friends to long - the implication of this is rather disturbing (especially given the shows way of simply hinting at more than blatantly saying at times).

She had 3 brothers - one of whom we know was in Vietnam (she thought died), and attempted to get her out of the cult ... also her oldest brother.

She was a talented basketball player ... until shed get high and ruin her chances half way through a game (again see above her Uncle).

She got accepted into law school, was on her way to becoming a lawyer, and was in love. Engaged. Only .... to tragically (medical deaths count as tragic) lose her fiance.

Ended up in communes and cults.

I list this out for a reason because its rather clear her uncle is a starting point. At least for some things (we dont know about 2 of the brothers after all). While i dont care if anyone does weed .... this man had a clear fascination with young girls (staring at her friends in a way that Flower comments on it as a ghost decades later raises red flags) and he is actively giving them weed. This is deliberate. And Susan was clearly talented in school - sports wise and intelligence wise - or for her Uncle to be giving her access to something that is sabotaging her chances in regards to a sports scholarship (again based on the red flag behavior I doubt he teaching proper use at the same time).

She would have likely still been in high school when Vietnam stuff began. The first Vietnam draft was in 1969, same year she died (I mention this as i keep thinking the show said "drafted" - so if so the line up is a bit weird there ... anyways still kinda important to consider). The first troops (Marines) went to Vietname in 1965, Susan by then would have been 27 and thus already past the fiance stuff (either in a communes or cult). So, basically, her brother has probably already tried to help her at least once by now ... and then deploys. And THEN she learns (somehow) of the MIA for him.

I strongly suspect before the fiance one of the other brothers likely died and/or disappeared from the family (ran away or something). Add that to what is going on with the Uncle .... Susan losing her fiance and having a mental health crash over losing ANOTHER person (fearing losing more) and dealing with that upheaval with whatever she can .... makes her an easy target by a commune or cult. Likely, the first was a commune.

Some member or leader pulling a "oh, honey, you won't be alone here we all work together and live together. We help each other daily" - which healthy communal living is great but it seems Susan kept getting sucked into bad ones - only to arrive and sure everyone lives together but its got weird rules and weird sort of "I get to sleep with your girl" as well twisted in. Add the drugs and .... oh well there is a reason why we have laws (well some states do) regarding individual sobriety level (be it drugs or alcohol) and consent.

The communes and cults were actively pushing the drugs. We see what it did for Susan - a bright and talented girl - and her ability to make sound judgements. Now there is a lot of layering to it all and not EVERYONE within the cult/communes were guilty (obviously victims too) but the leaders definitely are - especially the ones deliberately built to take advantage. Susan was not in a good place, and no matter how "good" she may believe she was in ... she was not while in those groups. She believed her brother dead - with no one correcting her until death - and believed she had lost him when she didnt pick him.

It is entirely possible, had he come back ONE more time for her shed have left. Healed, recovered, and managed to find herself a happy and healthy life style (be it with one person or multiple people). But losing her brother (believing it at least) kept her trapped in the cycle she had got pulled into. And ultimately the drugs she kept getting exposed to (acid, cocaine, all that harder stuff) sat on her to the point she went "i can hug a bear".

I wonder how many friends walked away from her because of the creepy uncle. Why haven't we heard about her parents? Why have we only heard about this one brother when we know she had 3? How many people did she lose before having her fiance die in hospital (of who knows what) while she was in LAW SCHOOL caused her to have the crash she did? Because like .... Susan was likely going through law school, dating, falling in love, getting engaged, and doing weed .... WHILE SUCCEEDING. She wasn't suffering. Wasn't falling apart. Wasn't crashing. Sure, shed lose a basketball game because she did a bit to much but obviously she found the balance (she is in law school - she has found a balance of sorts) ..... only for her world, her life to come crashing down around her.

It screams as - every suppressed trauma I have been ignore awoken all at once.
