the translation will not be provided yet, because the text isn't done. Everything in the romanization is IPA except macron for length and w for /ʋ/

There’s that post that’s like ‘everyone should get into a tiny niche fandom at least once’ fully agree, that was really fun -- but I would like to add that everyone should get into a fandom where their opinions run counter to major fanon because it really teaches you about sticking to your guns and trusting your interpretation of the text without having to rely on peer validation
because WHAT are people talking about sometimes

i dont think fandom people who only think about male characters and only create content for male characters are like horrible misogynists but i do think they often have some shit they need to unpack. like how can you , for example, play life is strange and the only thing you come away with from that is you want nathan and warren to fuck nasty. how can you watch birds of prey, and the only thing you come away with from that is you want roman and victor to fuck nasty......... like idk! idk! i just find it strange especially when people will engage with media Specifically about women and then put no effort in to empathize or care about them, sometimes even going far enough to say they HATE the female characters and that theyre bitches... IDK!!!!

Jane Austen gives us good people with a marriage built on love and respect, but also the much funnier alternative of really terrible people with a marriage built on love and respect.

so like. at what point are we going to stop listening to game companies saying "the game was poorly received and didn't meet our sales targets, and that's why we're removing it from storefronts and taking down all the servers mere months or even weeks after release" for titles that had a long expensive development, were barely marketed, and nobody knew they'd even released until after they heard they were getting shut down and couldn't be played/purchased anymore?
I feel like the prevailing takeaway for anyone who doesn't just conclude "yeah, game was pretty mid, makes sense to me" has usually been "this company just has unreasonably impossible sales expectations and treats every project like a failure if it doesn't print a trillion dollars". but these ARE allegedly experienced business execs who aren't complete idiots, and after this most recent debacle with Concord I'm starting to wonder if a bunch of these "games getting wiped out of existence when they underperform instead of just being allowed to persist as they are and maybe improve with time" cases in recent years might be more of a Warner-Discovery type situation, like nuking an entire animated series or film that was worked on for years and preventing it from being sold because it has to be officially unprofitable for the company to use it as a tax write-off. I look at a game that was worked on for 8 years and only made available for 2 weeks, and it's hard not to see the parallels.
great work, AAA games industry, really normal and sustainable stuff you're doing over there as usual

Harrowhark's bony fingers gripped the rim of the pool "and that day, in the Tomb . . . I smelled the perfect frost-forest necromones of the Body in that casket . . . And I imprinted on her."
A surge of anger suddenly welled up from Gideon's stomach, filling her throat with acrid bile sharp enough to make her eyes sting.
watching a documentary about orca and white shark interactions, and I love all the new stuff I'm learning, but one of the things I learned is that pheromones produced by dead or decaying matter are called "necromones," and every time these marine biologists say "necromones" I am distracted by the thought that this concept could transform the entire landscape of the LockedTombJacketstuck fandom and perhaps even the broader queer cannibal body horror/erotica fiction scene

guys stop being so sad in the tags of my reading post. if you want good recommendations:
ask librarians for help
ask professors for recommendations
ask mutuals for recommendations*
pay attention to publishers marketing specific kinds of books together. this can sometimes be useful if you’re reading fiction.
if the authors you enjoy use social media it’s highly likely that they’re going to be posting about books they enjoyed reading recently - pull these for your tbr.
follow people who post interesting quotes from books
follow people who post about specific topics and themes that you enjoy*
look up university syllabi for the relevant topics and pull material from there*
look up books published by credited universities as a starting point and branch out from there using the citations as a reference*
look at articles on jstor.com and check out the citations. I highly recommend this*
fivebooks.com is occasionally interesting
a lot of stories (books/shows/movies) make references to and tend to draw inspiration from other material, and these are generally on par with the quality of the media you enjoyed, if not better. google is your best friend when you’re trying to figure out what inspired a specific story. pull these for your tbr (or watchlist).*
this post by @/archive-z is also super useful. crucially, they highlight the importance of prioritising the quality of the matter you’re reading over quantity.*
