This was meant to be some of my general Fallout 3 headcanons but alas, it’s just Charon (I love him):
- Ghouls are cold-blooded, meaning they can’t generate body heat. They don’t really like the cold very much. You’ll often find ferals “sunbathing” out in the open. Radioactive sources also happen to be pretty warm. This means boy absolutely HATES the cold. And the heat, but mostly cold.
- Charon sleeps, he just does it standing up. It’s less sleeping, more intervals of unconsciousness spread throughout the day, lasting anywhere from a few seconds to 30 minutes each.
- Charon isn’t actually that old. Ahzrukhal mentioned him “growing up”, which to me implies he isn’t pre-war. Far from it, he’s in his late 20’s. You’ll never get this information out of him, though.
- He refuses to go into the purifier room even if he likes the Lone Wanderer because he’s afraid the radiation will turn him feral.
- He loves reorganizing his space. Give him a house or a room, the furniture will switch places every other week. He isn’t used to having personal space, and this is something he does to make it feel like his own, something he can have control over.
- The contract may include only combat on paper, but you can still get him to do most things if you solve his riddles three manage to convince him the thing you want him to do is related to your survival in some convoluted way. He has 3 brain cells, it wouldn’t be difficult.
Charon you gotta. You gotta water my plants I swear it’s important. I’ll be thinking about them if you don’t and be too distracted to watch out for raiders dude you have to do it. You have to dude. Dude cmon.
