I love your art style so much!! I've never seen anyone else that draws like you do. Were there any inspirations for it?

It's a great question when it takes me all day to gather pictures for it and I have to stop myself before I exeed the image limit on tumblr.

So to make this easier for myself, I focused primarily on media related to TV and the Internet (because you all know what videogames I like and the major animation studios are a whole seperate list onto itself)

But in summary on that end: these studios raised me

My earliest inspirations came from my grandma reading Calvin and Hobbes comic books to me, my parents allowing me to play Humongus Entertainment games on our PC (Putt-Putt, Pajama Sam, and Freddi Fish), and the beginning of preschool shows on Disney and Nickelodeon, primarily Blue's Clues and Rollie Pollie Ollie.

I just happened to grow up in the era where all 3 major networks for kids content were starting to hit their strides in making their own original content, so a lot of the cartoons I watched between 1999 - 2010 were in the 90s UPA revival style, championed through the art of Craig McCracken, Gennedy Tartakovsky, and Stephen Silver. (I will say though that Cartoon Network was my personal favorite).

With an honorary mention to WB Animation back when they had their own Saturday block:

Then came the introduction to mainstream anime in the west around 2006ish:

And as an adult from 2013 onward, I appreciated the old MTV cancelled shows, adult animation from Adult Swim, and a couple of animated shows from the post-live actiom era of Cartoon Network

Casual styles, still season 1...

Art direction :

Alfea is situated in a place with a rather cold, rainy climate. Summer temperatures rarely exeed 20 degrees celcius. Is set during the school year, so cooler temperatures. Things will also have a more "gothic genre" but in a more pastel style kind of aesthetic, mixted with the "spanking art" aesthetic and the also some alt fashion elements.

Bloom :

For Bloom, I want a style that's very...Good girl fluffy Americana, dark academia, some girl next door with elements of Y2K.

In casual wear, she would wear a sleeveless buttoned dress shirt with a discreet pattern and a rather high collar, some bell-bottomed low rise jeans, canvas congrass shoes and a form-fitting cardigan with buttons. Keeps her hair either loose or in a low pony tail.

Stella :

For Stella, I want to mix Californian bombshell with boho, Y2K, gyaru and beach girl, combined with some elements of Ancient Egypt and Louis XIVth court fashion for more formal wear or magical girl form.

I will give her faux-feather earrings, curly hair in twin tails with some strands of wrapped hair, a fabric headband. I would give her a very large, chunky cardigan paired with a short, form-fitting denim dress and some cute leg warmers paired with some healed mary-jane shoes. Would definitly have painted nails and some bronze-colored eyeliner.

Musa :

Now...Musa will have some elements of 80 and 90s, mixing XXth century chinese fashion with hip hop, punk and Y2K, as well as elements of men's wear. Her outfits would have to focus on the hard wearing and the practical. Would have a mixture of harsh and subdued.

The half-up, half-down pigtails would still be there. I think she would wear an oversized shirt for men paired with some heavy-duty cargo pants and work boots. Would definitly wear dark, messy eyeliner and eye shadow to harshen her otherwise "soft" stair.

Flora :

Now, I will give Flora some outfit that has elements of the "soft girl' aesthetic, paired with boho, traditional Argentinian dress, some cottage core aesthetic and some Y2K elements.

To fit that vision, I would giver her a high-waisted long flowing ruffled skirt paired with an off-the shoulder sweater and some kitty healed boots.

Tecna :

For Tecna, we are very Y2K, some office lady elements and some cyber-punk elements. I have no idea how to style her honestly.

Magical girl forms redesigns for the Winx Club, season 1

Artstyle : long, exaggerated lashes and quite anime-esque. Would have gradiant hair and visible dark circles. All would have skirts that would end slightly longer than finger tip length.

Bloom :

Her magical girl form would have an empire-waisted dress at finger tip length with a high collar in a slight V shape opening. Would have a prominant button at the bottom of her neck. Has elbow length laced "gloves". Has flat short buttoned boots with ballet soles. Has a frill straight at the center of her chest, lining the button line and a wise waist band that lowers the empire waist to something more late medieval. Her hair are shoulder blade length with some floofy bangs, like in her original show. Has a ruffle at the end of her skirt.

Stella :

Would have a single shoulder strap at the visual right, with a frill lining the neckline, and frilly arm warmers that cover her elbow. Her bodice ends at her natural waist with the exeption of a rigid V peak ending lower, with some frills the waistline. Would have a large poofy skirt with a ruffle at the bottom. Wears knee-length buttoned and form-fitting boots with ballet soles. Her hair is straight and hip-long.

Musa :

Would wear a princess seamed dress with a shoulder strap at the visual left, decorated with a large, floppy bow. Has a ruffle at the bottom of the dress. Her dress has an asymetrical closure at the princess seam on the visual right, with elaborate 1930s Chinese style frogs. Also has knee-long buttoned and form-fitting boots. Her hair is a Cleopatra bob with the upper half styled in pigtails while the lower half is too short to updo. Wears frilly arm bands, although the one on the visual left has a long, narrow, floppy bow.

Flora :

Would wear a natural-waist elongated by a peak kind of look, with a soft sweetheart neckline, with smooth stomacher/inner color, a poofy, frilly petticoat at the bottom and an fitted overdress with flaring skirt, also decorated with box-pleated ruffles. The bottom of the overdress and petticoat are elongated by frills. Wears short, ankle-length, buttoned boots with ballet soles. Her hair would end at the tip of her buttocks, with loads of floof !

Tecna :

Would have her hair in a long pixie. Her outfit is composed of a high-collared overdress that is mostly gathered around the neck, and secured at the natural waist with a straight, frilly belt. The collar has a front closure hidden with a bow. Her underdress has straight cut sleeves with a bit of frill at the edge, and some buttons to secure them more closely around her wrists, forcing some very slight gathering. Wears knee-length buttoned, form-fitting boots. Overall, the frills are much more toned down. Her hair is styled into a long pixie. Her wings are more digital...Her style is a lot less princessy than the one of the other girls.

Sybil “Hino”, a 15 year old highschool student and daughter of the known politician Sōji Pandemik. She studies at T·A Academy for Girls, a Catholic school, only by her father’s wishes. She’s currently living with her grandfather at the Hikawa Shrine, while also working as a Shrine maiden part time.

At first glance, Sybil presents herself as a very serious and reserved person, but she’s in fact very sweet and caring once you get to know her…That is, if you get to know her.  Sybil has quite the group of admirers at school, boys and girls alike, but she’s not interested in making any friends. She’d rather keep distance, as it’s a safer route for her, that way, she’ll never be hurt by anyone. The only ones she considers friends are her two pet crows, Phobos and Deimos, which she has taken care of ever since they were chicks

 Sybil also possesses special abilities which she was been training from a young age, these consists in premonitions and a sixth sense that helps her sense near threats. However, these abilities tend to make people talk not so very nice things about her, so she keeps them a secret from everyone.

Her grandfather knows about her little secret though, and encourages her to use these “gifts” (as he calls it) with pride, to help people and make good. And Sybil will reply “Yes, Grandpa, I will” with a little smile, but she knows she can’t actually do it.

Her grandfather is an old man who walks with slow steps and an arched back, he’s also blind, and has issues moving around the Shrine. Sybil is his guide and the only one who can take care of him and the Shrine, although he'll always insist he’s fine and that he can manage things on his own.

Neither of them talk about her father at all, they prefer it that way.

 Besides her special powers, Sybil is also very skilled in archery as a Shrine maiden, and has pretty handwriting from what Max has noticed!

Sybil wasn’t confident in Max and Darla the first time they met, and she kept her distance like she always did with everyone. But Max seemed to quickly destroy all of her walls by being simple and shamelessly honest, as if he had known Sybil for years, and walking around the Shrine like it was no big deal. A bit of a rude trait, sure, but also kind of endearing.

It made a bit more sense when she discovered that the three of them were not far too different from each other, as they also had special abilities of their own. It was a lot scarier having to face the possibility of letting herself be vulnerable in front of these two people and developing a friendship, than it was to enter a whole different dimension full of dangerous monsters and killing a “demon” after finding out about her duty as a Soldier.

But, hey, maybe this time it’ll be different.

For some background, this is an image that Ex.33 created to be the first thing that is recalled in her mind when she thinks of Rosy. She does this with most people she knows because it can possibly help against psychic attacks or probes. It was really easy for her to make these associations given that it's a simple reprogramming of her memory recall pathways, so she used it as an opportunity to practice her artistic skills.
