My weight loss journey has been difficult for me. I am finally getting back on track after 11 months post partum. I'm all about body positivity but I was really more concerned about my health and the way I was feeling. I mean, yes I wanted to fot into my jeans and wear cute tops, but I wasn't in a rush at all.
After I had Olivia though, I went really hard at my workouts and I was also working full time, breastfeeding and not sleeping. I was limiting my meals, portion control, but I wasn't losing weight. Eventually I noticed my milk supply dropped significantly. I was so bummed and decided to stop. I stopped and started to eat a lot, like A LOT, I think mainly because I was really sleepy, tired, drained and decided I just didnt care at that point. After a few months of that I really started to gain weight.
We moved to Arizona the first week of July and I became a stay at home mom. So, I decided to use my time wisely and get back into shape. Olivia is my last baby so Its time to get back to myself. I have been trying to focus on self care, and I NEED to make time for myself. We moms need to take time out to care for ourselves, mental breaks are so helpful for me and help me be a better mom. Even if that means a warm bath alone for 20 minutes... it's a few minutes of heaven.
I changed my eating, but I'm not limiting food. I eat every 3 hours. I make better food choices. I drink a lot of water. Fruits. Vegetables. Protein. I cut out junk food and soda, I love cookies but I decided to limit them and treat myself when I really really want one. I started to work out 6x week. It has now been almost going on 2 months and I have seen a big difference in my body and especially in the way that I feel!! I feel more energized and happier. I only do a 30 minute workout but I hit it hard, and once a week i hit the basketball court and do drills. That is the worst, lol it's a brutal workout but let me tell you ITS WORTH IT.
I'll post some before and after pictures. It's amazing how our bodies change when you treat it right. Now, I'm still learning and I have many slips. It's hard to eat right everyday and especially with a family, they want certain foods, or they want to go out ... being disciplined isn't one of my strong points. But, everyday I try again.
This weekend wasn't the best on my eating, but I managed to get my basketball drills in this morning as a family and ate a healthy breakfast. Lunch was healthy-ish.. but dinner was amazingly delicious. Chicken thighs, asparagus and tomatoes. Not bad.
Tomorrow I have cardio HIIT ... my favorite. It's a tough workout though, Olivia doesn't make it easy. She hates me doing anything else other than holding her. BUT, I just have to push forward. I have a stash of toys ready to give to her if she loses her shit.
