hi factives with sources they're ashamed of or feel like they can't talk about. i see you and i love you. shame will only bring you down, you're free to identify with your source as much or as little as you want, and your source does NOT make you a bad person no matter how "awful" the source is. take care of yourself <3

Factivian and Proactivian Coining Post
pt: factivian and proactivian coining post
hi all, this is something new for a change but we wanted to coin an alternative to fictivian in case anyone needs it.
the definition of fictivian is: “a gender identity in which one is a fictive and their fictivehood affects their gender or perception of gender” and/or “one’s fictivehood is so intrinsically tied with their gender that the two are inseparable”. factivian would be the same as fictivian, but with factivehood instead. proactivian would be the same as factivian but with problematic factivehood.
Tumblr media
factivian
pt: factivian
a gender identity in which one is a factive and their factivehood affects their gender or perception of gender and/or one’s factivehood is so intrinsically tied with their gender that the two are inseparable.
below is a flag for factivian.
Tumblr media
alt text: a flag with five stripes. the third stripe is bigger than the rest. the first stripe is blue, second is a very light blue, third is a sage green, fourth is a dark green, and the last is a very light green stripe.

proactivian
pt: proactivian
a gender identity in which one is a problematic factive and their factivehood affects their gender or perception of gender and/or one’s problematic factivehood is so intrinsically tied with their gender that the two are inseparable.

i hope some people connect to these terms, or these terms helps one of you out! thanks for reading :)

Being factkin is feeling like you're invalid for existing
Why is it that others feel it necessary to put us in their DNI, to exclude us from the otherkin community, to punish us for something that, truth be told, most of us can't control. If not all
I did not choose to feel this way. If I could, I'd choose to be my own person, someone who doesn't lament the death of my friends, my family, everything I knew. Not even the country I lived in exists anymore. I grieve these things just as much as fictionkin, for example, grieve losing the things they had in source.
I'm tired of chasing for things that have been long gone, tired of feeling like my body doesn't belong to me. Just as everyone is. And yet they tell us we're creeps, we're identity thieves. As if we had a choice. As if we woke up one day and thought, "wow! I shall now pretend to be this long dead man from history who no one remembers and no one cares about," "I may now pretend to be this YouTuber I am deeply attached to", etc.
It's not a choice. It's not play pretend. We're just as serious as any other kintypes and I'm tired, I'm tired of having people talk down to me for it
"we love all alterhumans and are accepting of all" and "factkin dni" are mutually exclusive. Pick one and don't be mad at me when I call you a bigot for picking the latter.
fucking stop invalidating people's experiences for god's sake
This goes for any other fact ID too by the way 🩷 you matter

Having a factual hearthome.
PT: Having a factual hearthome. /End PT
When most people talk about hearthomes, they tend to talk about fictional places, or places that exist generally like forests or oceans. We haven't really seen much talk on having a factual hearthome, a hearthome of a real place. So much so that it only just occurred to us that this is even possible, let alone that one of us experiences something like this. So we wanted to talk about it a little more, in hopes that the concept will get a little more light shone on it.
First off, what is a hearthome? The term hearthome was coined by @\alt--h on December 15th, 2016. It describes something that invokes a sense of familiarity and in many cases feels like home to the point it can be considered an aspect of ones identity. For me this personally feels like somewhere I belong. Somewhere where my 'true self' is its strongest. Where I am grounded and centered. Where everything for about who I can be and am is allowed to exist in its fullest.
I have a few hearthomes, several of which I have known for a long time. The first two I knew before I even knew the term. Space and forests. While I have additional alterhuman connection to space, both of these are locations that center and ground different aspects of me. So when I stumbled across the term 'hearthome', I immediately understood that that's what these were. Some months ago I started questioning my connection to water. And I realized it was the same type of connection I had to space and forest. When I am in it I feel centered. I feel connected to myself in a way I cannot properly put into words. Its like I unlock a whole new part of myself. I don't become anything new. I am just found.
While some may consider these factual hearthomes, I don't necessarily consider them such, at least not at the time of writing this. That main change. I don't consider them fictional either. I just consider them hearthomes, and do not want to place them within the factual/fictional dynamic.
Recently a few of our members were involved in drama targeting them for being factives. This resulted in them getting more involved in the community then we already were. And one of our members, m Avium, realized that there's nothing stopping hearthomes from being factional in origin. However we had *never* heard of this happening. At least being called by name. This was a complete revelation to us. So of course, we started thinking about it. What all it might entail, and if it might apply to us, since many of us have hearthomes.
That's when it struck me.
I help at a conferences twice a year, every year. I won't name it for doxxing reasons, but it is a huge deal in my life. I have straight up described it as my home before. As somewhere that centers me. That I find my true self in. *That finds me.*
That is everything I experience in my other hearthomes. The only difference? I actively get to go to this one.
Which brings me to another major point of this post. What it's like to be able to actively go to your hearthome. For me? It's refreshing. This hearthome is a conference. It's made by the people that attend it, as much as the place its held and the events that happen at it. Being able to be in such an environment is genuinely healing. It is somewhere I feel beyond safe. It is somewhere I feel seen. It is somewhere I feel aligned with who I want to be. It's where I feel like I am actively the person I'm meant to be. I feel found there. Being able to actively go back to that place is the highlight of my year, every year. Words cannot even describe the connection that is there.
But yeah. We're not used to making these kind of posts so excuse how messy it is. I'm sure I'll make a more coherent one sometime in the future but this is what you get for now. I hope it's got you thinking about hearthomes, fictional, factional or otherwise. Who knows, you might even join us in having a factional identity with a hearthome!

Lemme just say . if you're icked out by or discriminatory towards or otherwise believe factkin(& related terms, not super familiar) are Bad or Wrong or Problematic in any sort of sense, then as a factive introject i do not trust you and never will. I see kinship as a singlet or acquired identity version of what introjects are, and what i hear when you talk poorly about factkin & other fact-IDs is that you're not safe for me or my system to be around, because you dont respect us as people for how we exist. Introjects dont choose how we form, and 'kin often dont choose their relations either. and if they do, so what? people can and should be able to pick their identity, even if it relates to an identity shared by or originated from someone else

We don't talk about the feeling of "misrepresenting" our source enough, despite it being a decently common thing from what we've encountered. Especially within the factid community (and even more so within the "identifying as" part of the factid community), which is what this post is going to focus on, despite it by no means being an exclusive experience. We've just seen it tenfold there, likely due to a lot of discourse that comes from just having a factual identity.
The feeling of misrepresenting your source is something we've experienced a lot. That feeling of double guessing "am I doing this right?". Of "would my source feel this way?", "would my source say that?", "do I match up enough to count?". This goes double if part of your identity *doesn't* align. Maybe it's a different gender. Maybe it's a different partner/feelings about the partner you had in source. The guilt, the feelings of being invalid, of double guessing "is this even really an identity of mine?". They creep up out of nowhere. It's easy to get lost in it, especially when you're still new, but honestly it can come just as strong years in. And it takes over everything. It's one of those feelings that just engulfs your brain, making you double guess *everything*.
Like I said, it's something we're familiar with. Especially since we have such close interaction with so many of our sources. Hell we're friends with some of ours. It's easy to get caught up in that questioning of being similar enough. We find this is truest for our factives (not many folks with other factional types have fronted enough to confirm beyond factives) compared to our fictives, who seem to be able to handle the feeling a lot better. Something about just being a factive of another person makes us feel like we have to represent them correctly. We have to be a copy of them, and we can't have any deviations. Maybe it's because we're held to such higher standards by the alterhuman community. We either have to 100% source separate or be 100% the same. There's no room for anything else. Maybe it's because we're afraid they'll see we're different and get mad at us for, being us?
But that's the trick to all of this. You can't misrepresent someone by existing as yourself. A part of having a source (and identifying "as") is you're a version of them, not an exact copy. This doesn't make your identity any less real, but it does mean things will just naturally be different at times. And that's okay. It's okay to have a different typing style, a different gender, a different partner. Because in the end we're us. We can be our own person while still being/having our source, and that doesn't invalidate our identity at all. And of course it's easier said than done. Dealing with feelings, especially when there's so much outside influence, always is. But that bit has been a good base to fall back on when we need it honestly, so we're hoping it'll help someone else too.

Factchain
Tumblr media
Factchain is an otherchain term for factfolk, factkins(link), or factlinks who's identity fluctuates between voluntary and involuntary, is inbetween voluntary and involuntary, is both voluntary and involuntary, ect.
(Factlink: a factID term for those who voluntarily identify as something or someone that has existed on Earth at one point)
We meant to post this a while ago, although we couldn't get the flag right. We may remake this flag later. If this has been coined before, consider this an alternate flag. Tagging: @radiomogai
