I like the degree of Cheongryeo’s (outright) [From: Debut or Die] psychotic/unhinged tendencies

And I’m not strictly just referring to the full one unhinged things he does. Like, I mean just his way of carrying himself too on a “regular” basis.  He’s the type of guy who’d suddenly start laughing and then just randomly stop in the most off putting way (by that I mean he canonically does that).

The whole scene where he’s giving Moondae a car ride is amusing but also off putting, because in Moondae’s own words, “…He seemed a little psychotic” 😭. Like, the whole time they were in that car, Moondae is keeping check of the view ahead and around the car and making extra sure Cheongryeo doesn’t take his eyes off the road while driving ☠️.  Moondae did not want to be in that car lmao. Understandably so, due to the erratic nature of even Cheongryeo’s small actions:

Cheongryeo smiled and lightly tapped the steering wheel. Moondae: ‘I’d rather be the person driving.’  […] I only moved my eyes to glance at the rearview mirror but I could see Cheongryeo’s eyes staring at me. …Frankly, it was downright creepy.

Or that one point where Moondae blocked his number, and so Cheongryeo called Moondae’s company to get in contact with him again ☠️

It’s all little things, but definitely add to the fact that this man’s sanity is barely handing on lmao

Saw svsss as Idols and I decided to come back to the scene for even more Idol Trainee Shang Qinghua in the middle of the night only semi-coherent.

The context: 1, 2, 3, 4

So like, I already pitched to all of you the idea of Shang Qinghua being a former Idol Trainee, but let me be extremely self-indulgent and ask how do we feel about him making his own Idol Group in the PIDW world?

Shang Qinghua never got to debut as an idol, so why not be one in this life. Sure the concept doesn't exist in the way it is for him but how hard can that be?

(To no one's surprise, it's an absolute pain to recreate)

Balancing being head of An Ding AND being Mobei-jun's spy on top of trying to form and train a modern idol group essentially guarantees him that sleep will be nonexistent, but he's had worse things occur in life, he has written chapters at breakneck speeds to pay rent.

In terms of music, there's a struggle vocally speaking. Western sensibilities and pop vocal styles are quite different from ancient Chinese singing. Power belting is a rare phenomena outside specific settings and Shang Qinghua now has to train vocal harmonies. Compound this with the fact that he has to teach them multiple extra languages since it's hard to carry the same energy over translations and it's an absolute train wreck.

Choreography wise, it's hard to teach dance moves without having his peers blush at him from the steps. This is intersecting with the fact that most of these dance styles are new. Hip-hop doesn't begin until a couple of millenias later, and Jazz hasn't been invented by the people of Louisiana since it doesn't exist yet, so his students are going in blind.

If we rope SQQ-J here, we could have him get an aneurysm as he watches Shang Qinghua flub at teaching trainees and having to be a live translator so that they have a clue on what they're saying.

SQH: "I need you to give me more 'aaa' and less 'eee'"

Trainee: *Absolutely Confused* ????

SQQ: Exasperated, "He's telling you to make your vowels sound more like an 'a' sound and make it more open."

It all depends on the size of the group really. Plus, my vision has SQH and SQQ working together for extra wachy hijinks. So these are gonna be my inspirations mostly for each group.

So uh, yeah. These are the K-pop groups I'm working with. As you can see, I mostly just listen to girl groups, I don't really listen to boygroups, which may be to my detriment, since they are all men.

Will there be a third book in Perth Shifters? I loved Braden’s and Aodhen’s stories.

Of all the kind of commercial-facing writing projects I've done, Perth Shifters did the worst, which is a shame, because Perth Shifters was meant to be the big money-spinner, which is why I broke with so many ways I prefer to write (more angst, longer stories, more character studies, etc.) to fit in with more conventional formulas to do so.

I enjoyed the experience very much! And I love the characters! If I ever tackle Hunter's book, it will probably be in serial format and a much longer story. I have learned that actually sticking to what I do best makes more sense in terms of both joy for the thing, and also income.

Perth Shifters was my first foray into hybrid publishing and it taught me an extremely valuable lesson. When I go back into hybrid publishing again, it will be with things I have already made work for me as serials, so whether they perform well as published novels or not just won't matter as much (and will be a bonus, so not as much is resting on its shoulders lol).

But for that reason, I can't justify putting the time aside to write a third Perth Shifters book. Still haven't ruled out revisiting the world one day though!
