What do u think of the prequels' characters fashion sense in modern context

Rhian would enjoy wearing makeup, at least like eyeliner or something! He'd also be in debt for always getting designer brands. I think he would like most trends unless they are really flashy or tacky. I can see Rhian wearing some jewelry-- earrings definitely. Rhian would enjoy his natural curls, but maybe dye it from time to time. And Rhian would invest in expensive cologne and always wear it on him. Rhian at work or in public would be the type constantly applying touch ups, reapplying cologne, combing his hair, etc. Thrift stores are no nos for him-- new only!!! (Waste of money but okayyy) but then he'd also buy from Temu or Ali Express 🤔 Ah and his makeup is never drugstore. It's brand name makeup by celebrities or Clinque or something far from cheap.

Rafal would mostly use baggy clothing/hoodies and sweatpants and dark colors at that. Mostly black. He'd wear the same shirts (meaning, same kind but different actual shirts. Not that he doesn't change at all because I do think (or hope) he does practice hygiene.) I can see him have a helix piercing and wear a bunch of rings, and maybe one necklace that doesn't stand out too much. Rafal looks like the type to always cut his hair so it doesn't get too long-- one, because maybe he thinks he looks unpresentable and two, because I think Rhian would attack him for not maintaining himself enough. I think Rafal would have small tattoos you can barely see or are hidden by clothing, but never sleeves of them. And I think they'd be simple, symbolic things. Also, I can picture Rafal trying to dress like an edgy bad boy and get the leather jacket thing, though he wouldn't look bad with it. He *sometimes* wears some fragrance, but it isn't as strong as Rhian's. He also goes to thrift stores and finds nice things.

James: He'd be super fancy, but also have loads of tattoos. I think he'd wear his hair long and many times try to go in a tank top or something. As long as it isn't an important meeting. James would also be big on name brands but actually not be affected too much financially by it. And he isn't so quick to jump on trends, especially if they are too tacky and humiliating for him. He may also like some jewelry in order to show off his wealth and status. Also, I think sometimes James tries too hard to fit into "old money" type aesthetics and be too snobbish. He would constantly have dress shoes, or boots. He thinks sneakers are beneath him. He would also like leather, mostly for cost and fake leather is a disgrace. He can sense a knock off of a name brand from a mile away.

Aladdin. Nothing much. I think he'd be those kids that try so so so hard to act gangster. Or, unless he's with Kyma, he's sloppy and always messing up his outfits.

Kyma: Presentable, modest (meaning not too attention grabbing or over the top), and I can see her wearing pearls! She'd carry nice handbags. She wouldn't be ashamed of hand me downs or thrifting, as long as it's something wearable and lovely. Her emphasis is more on cleanliness and keeping her hair neat. She'd use natural makeup looks more often. Sometimes she wears heels, sometimes, clean sneakers or flats. She doesn't follow trends or believe in shiny and new in the fashion world.

Midas: I feel like he has perfect hair everyone envies. It's perfect curls and a lovely color. He prefers wearing gold to silver. I don't think Midas would like trends too much-- or care. Especially if something is too attention catching or tight and suffocating. He'd have earrings that are small and not too noticeable. I think Midas would go for classy or "professional" vibe. He'd like golden or darker colors, though maybe with some shades or red, he wouldn't look bad. Midas would be the kind who would ALWAYS have killer shoes. (Canonically, he wanted to pick pocket to buy boots.) They would be like Clark's or something. Rocker bottoms. Name brand sneakers. And well, nice boots.

Spoilers for Fall of SGE ahead!

Rhian saw the students beneath him cry as the Stymphs flew away with the bags holding his dear brother’s ashes.

He smiled. Grief. What a funny feeling it was.

Ever since he was a child, he had never grieved. When his favorite toys broke, he threw tantrums. When his pets died, he was angry. He was always causing a scene—but never grieving. Back then, he thought his hysteria was just a show he put on to suppress the intense feelings he had, because he was Good. But now it was all clear—Rhian had never grieved because he’d never truly had a reason to.

All these students were crying because they loved the School Master. It didn’t matter which one—it didn’t matter who it was. Both brothers were good, and both had saved them from Vulcan, Pan, and many, many more dangers. They cried for their protectors lost, for their tragic fate, for the one they had grown used to. It was all because of love.

Even Nevers cried. Funny, Rhian thought. Rafal should’ve taught them the Evil Rules better.

Evil doesn’t love. At least, Pure Evil doesn’t.

Rhian smiled, turned around, and headed back inside the tower. He was getting used to this new evil status the Storian had given him.

Hot Take: The SGE movie is one of the reasons why the fandom is almost dead today.

And here's why I think so:

You cannot tell me the movie releasing the same year as the prequel duology began didn't have an impact on the amount of people who read it. Yes, I understand some people weren't a fan of the prequels, and that is opinion based. However, the data of views and interactions show significant differences when compared. And that was in 2022/2023. Now? The interaction for Coven, Soman's most recent release is down by even more. I know that a lot of the original fandom are now adults, who could care less, but most only came back for the movie. And whether you thought the movie was a success or a flop, it, in someway, marked the end of the original series for you.

This is not necessarily a bad thing, I don't expect individuals to still be hung up over a childhood fictional series, it's just heartbreaking to compare the activity in the fandom from 2016 to now.

I wasn't planning on doing anything related to Valentine's Day, but came up with this. Feel free to disagree with me if anything seems off. Some of these are hyperbole-infested, haha.

Flirted with: He flirts back—whether he has any sincere feelings for the person or not.

Midas:

Flirting: Is flirting beneath him? Likely. He doesn't like soppy Evers who mistake him for one himself.

Flirted with: Doesn't bother responding or dismisses the person. Or worse, he suspects high-handed manipulation at play and says something like "Find someone else."

Rufius:

Flirting: [He doesn't have the guts to flirt? May bring the object of his affections pastries.]

Flirted with: Completely oblivious. Mistakenly recognizes flirtation as an attempt to befriend or as just others simply being "friendly" to him for once.

Kyma:

Responds kindly in either scenario. Might let many, many suitors down.

Marialena:

Flirting: I foresaw a future for you and I together.

Flirted with: Laughs in the person's face. How pathetic, she could think. Or she blatantly lies and tells them they will die of smallpox or malaria because she is contagious and ought to be on her deathbed, if only to get rid of them. If not, she could string the person along for a while, to do her bidding.

Peter Pan:

Flirting: [N/A]

Flirted with: Yuck. Bluck. Bleh. I'm not getting disgusting girl cooties!

Rise Rhian:

Flirting: [He initiates a handshake, and holds onto it for too long.] Hello... [Unfortunately, his mind goes blank and he blushes. In some cases, he may find something clever to say, especially about the physical appearance of his crush.]

Flirted with: [Tongue-tied, attempts to act coy in front of the admirer, probably blushes profusely. Can't look anyone in the eye.]

Fall Rhian:

Flirting: [Wouldn't bother if a guy isn't his prophesied True Love... probably. Do old habits die hard like his brother had? Only one way to find out. Expose himself to handsome guys (students?) and get over the feelings.]

Flirted with: May respond by thinking some form of: Hostile human lifeform. What's the trick this time? He can no longer trust after everything that had gone on.

Rafal:

Flirting: [*Crickets* Then, a voice sounds from behind his "victim:"] Ahem... greetings. I am your stalker. Do you love me? Please. I command you to love me. I promise you, you won't find anyone better. I'll make it for certain.

Flirted with: [Stares at the person like they're stupid for even trying and says something scathing in return.]

[I think he has the potential to be off the rails awkward or deeply questionable, in terms of having a sound mind, if he's not acting seductively as part of a greater ploy and actually has real feelings for someone getting in his way. Hence, the slight deviation from canon.

Okay, so hi, hi, hello. I got inspired with a photography channel on youtube who does ballet shorts, and while I'm still working on making Rhian as dragon-y as possible without making him an actual dragon, I've managed to put thoughts into words for a thing I've thought of for a while. So.

We're starting off Rafal-centric for once. Wow. Amazing. I can do things for characters that aren't Rhian and it's weird. But Rhian is here as an antagonist(?) maybe? Idk. Anyway. Rafal and Rhian were in ballet and then Rafal got injured somehow in a way that might have been Rhian's fault. Rafal retired because he had to, but still teaches. I am putting Rophie into this, yes, thank you for asking.

Rhian is out doing his thing. Rafal is teaching. I'm giving him a leg brace. Why? I don't know. I'd have to figure out what got injured and how, and I'm not doing that right now. I'm also giving him a cane that he only sometimes uses, and probably not as often as he should. Maybe he broke something? (Kaz Brekker is this you?) I don't know.

I'm leaning toward (a.k.a. the only idea I have) Rophie meeting in a lesson, but that brings up an age gap thing perhaps that I'm not sure that I want to touch. Immortal sorerer is one thing; modern life is an entirely different thing. But maybe also he's just her new trainer who is too young to be retired, (Ballet dancers retire in their mid to late 30s apparently) and is therefore mysterious. Then again, he might be famous so less mysterious and more handsome but grumpy. Agatha is vv suspicious of him. Fair, to be honest.

In case anyone was wondering about Rhian: he's just out there doing his dancing thing. Being celebrated by the media for being famous and openly gay (that's a thing that happens right? I think I've seen it happen.) while also framing whatever happened to Rafal as an accident that was totally not his fault.

And... I think that's all I've got for now. I know almost nothing of ballet, and this is mostly unresearched, so it's just plot bones. But plot bones are better than nothing.

MAJOR FALL OF SGE SPOILERS

The impact Fall of SGE had on me still doesn't let go, so I started re-reading books 3 and 6 and stumbled upon this.

So in the 3rd book, Sophie tries to ask Rafal for his name, yet he tries to come up with excuses to not say it and overall just acts pretty nervous when asked about it. At first I just thought that was because he is just shy and doesn't want to reveal his identity, but after reading The Fall...

Oh my gosh you guys, it's because he hesitates to fully steal Rafal's identity. I believe that even tho he tries to insist that he is the mix of Good and Evil, of two brothers—he still believes he is Good and cleaning his reputation by making Rafal be the evil one even after his own death is just the perfect opportunity.

This is evil and selfish. He makes it so everyone would remember Rafal as the evil sibling and not know the truth, it's just something that only 100% Evil would do.

Anyone notice that in the EverNever Handbook, Sophie named one of her Nail Polish colors "Rafal Red"?

If Rhian were a villain as his own character, in character, I feel like he'd be the kind of villain to explain his whole Evil plan, giving it away completely instead of keeping it to himself because he's incapable of keeping it to himself. He would be hyped up with excitement for his vision coming to fruition, and most importantly, he would want to do it for the showmanship as he's theatrical like that. Then again, he may be too smart to reveal it all.

If you recall his thematically-appropriate outfit during the Circus of Talents, he seems to love causing a scene, and while Rafal does share this tendency towards the dramatic, I don't believe it's to the same effect or as extreme as Rhian's.

And this brings me to the point that it's just flat-out unusual for Rhian to wear essentially the same outfit for 200 years.

I mean, that seems unlike him and extreme. For evidence, it's implied by TLEA, by the image of his midnight blue robes hanging on a hook in the tower like a relic at the beginning of the book, that he's worn that selfsame outfit all that time. Sure, he must've not had an occasion to dress up for, but when did that ever stop him? Did imitating Rafal mean he had almost given up on his fashion sense? It's not like anyone had seen him. He didn't have anyone to perform in front of after all. Maybe that's the reason: no one would see him, so it wouldn't matter? He'd probably become depressed, and perhaps, the loneliness drove him insane and away from old behaviors.

Yet, how could Rhian, the man who was a fashion icon in his better days, be reduced to wearing the same midnight blue robes for 200 years, as the first trilogy implies? Even villainous Fall Rhian with his pure spun gold cloak did better than this version of him.

Wearing the same clothes like a uniform is Rafal behavior, and while taking that trait completes his disguise, which I'm sure Rhian had down by SGE's present, if no one had the faintest memory of what the real Rafal was like, what was keeping Rhian from caring about his appearance like he once did? He only seemed to fall back into fashion and indulge in it in order to appeal to Sophie and that's it. Did he never regain the right state of mind for fashion to be of any importance by himself? Did Sophie revive that lost part of him?

In conclusion, that is the most implausible thing about the Fall twist: Rhian's lack of fashion sense. /j
