#tapetuesday #FatesWarning “Awaken The Guardian” @metalbladerecords 1986/1993 #cassette #tape pressing #stillsealed our store and FW go way way back, to the early 80s… and many a Waterbury Saturday John Arch would stop in to visit and hang out (anonymously) and we’d also see @jdibiase812 quite a bit too! Then some time in the early-mid 90s the band played a pair of shows at the Sports Palace and somehow I ended up driving them around to and from the hotel and our in-store, etc. My memory of that was a) the shows were amazing and b) it was very very cold out! Anyhow, just thought these #metal pioneers worth mentioning today. For my money they were way better than Queensryche to whom they were often compared. "Under the Milky Way" é uma intensa balada do quinto disco "Starfish" (1988) da banda australiana de Rock Alternativo The Church.

O cantor e baixista Steve Kilbey teve a inspiração para compor esta faixa quando após o almoço (em visita na casa de sua Mãe) observou o inspirador céu brilhante de uma cidade na costa sudeste da Austrália.

A composição foi uma parceria com Karin Jansson ‐ a namorada musicista dele.

A balada se tornou o maior sucesso da carreira da banda, entrando nas paradas de vários países.

"Under the Milky Way" foi coverizada por vários grupos.

Uma das versões mais interessantes foi feita pela banda de Metal Progressivo Fates Warning.

Nesta versão do grupo alemão, a balada é mergulhada em um cativante som etéreo, espacial e eletrônico.

Esta canção entrou como bonus track no disco "Disconnected" (2006).

Hoje o álbum de estreia do Fates Warning "Night on Bröcken", lançado pela Metal Blade, completa 36 anos e é álbum que apenas comprova o tamanho do Iron Maiden nos destinos musicais do heavy metal. A banda é precursora do progmetal, sem saber exatamente disto na época pois, juntos com o Queensrÿche, foi quem inicialmente pegou o som do Maiden nesta seara e construiu um novo estilo. Neste play, que a banda faz uso do "umlaut" no título (trema do metal), é muito nítida a influência do Maiden, o início da faixa-título (Shadowfax também, dentre várias) é quase plágio e a donzela está presente do início ao fim. A banda ainda buscava o que seria sua sonoridade e é um álbum ainda muito aquém do que viriam a produzir mais tarde. Aqui é um rufar dos tambores do que viria a ser o power metal, com tentativas ainda muito incipientes do que viria a ser o progmetal, com a sombra do Iron Maiden, já dito, pairando sobre quase todas as músicas, ritmo galopante, construções e até na foto da banda na camiseta do baterista. A produção não é boa, as guitarras não tem peso e a bateria é, digamos, crua. Mas pra mim o grande problema nem é a tentativa de fazer um som da NWOBHM esticando os conceitos instrumentais sem a qualidade técnica necessária pra isso, mas sim o timbre do vocal muito estridente em um som sem peso. O resultado é tudo muito alto e irritante.
