11/11/11 tag
i was tagged by the lovely @sarmarble ! here thank you for tagging me and sorry I’m so late in doing this. Without further ado...
1. What is your favourite part of writing?
The discovery of it all. I’m not really one for massive plans and pretty much go with the flow of it all. I have an idea of where I’m going or rather what I want to accomplish in a particular scene but that’s as far as my planning goes. I like discovering the story as I write; it’s my favourite part of writing and honestly it brings me such joy (and relief) when the pieces finally fall into place :)
2. List 3 of your favourite fictional characters from books that aren’t your own.
Karou from the Daughter of Smoke and Bone Triology
Inej from Six of Crows Duology
Eve from the Morganville Vampires Series
3. Do you listen to music as you write? If so, what kind of music?
Yes I do. All sorts of music; mostly instrumental so expect Lindsey Stirling and Two Steps from Hell to feature on my playlist, but songs from my favourite bands do tend to creep into my playlists.
4. If you had to, what books/movies/tv shows would you compare your wip(s) to?
Books-wise: I would compare my WIP to Dracula by Bram Stoker for Vampires and The Mortal Instruments/Shadowhunter Series because the world in which AMOT is set operates under a masquerade: humans are unaware of the existence of supernatural creatures and a group of strangers working together to save the world from the villains. Drac, and to ensure that masquerade stays intact.
Movies: I would compare my WIP to The Mummy, especially considering that the second half of the novel sees Aliskandariya, Cailean and Iara, 3 almost strangers embark on an adventure into the unknown, hunting for the thing (person!) that Markus has been searching for. As the continue on this journey of their, secrets begin to unravel as they begin to discover aspects of their world that remained hidden to them (especially Aliskandariya). For this reason, I would say part 2 is very much like the Mummy, and I am most looking forward to writing it.
TV Shows: I would compare my WIP to Penny Dreadful by virtue of the mythology explored in AMOT and the aesthetic which I hope to achieve with this story.
5. Describe your writing process.
I am currently in the stages of my first draft, and the drafting process began with just writing random scenes. Now as I’ve stuck with this project, I have begun taking a more structured approach.
I’ve split the novel in parts, and briefly written a description as to what I want to happen for each POV character (of which there are three) and I just write my chapters around that description. It seems to working so far, though the plot tends to change direction quite often and I find myself having to fight the urge edit as I write.
To conclude, it seems my drafting process consists of a ‘discovery draft’ as any outline I have created becomes redundant after a couple of months xD
6. What keeps you motivated to write?
This burning desire of wanting to hold the finished copy in my hands. I’ve got to finish it because then the real work of rewriting and editing will begin and when I have finished then maybe, just maybe, I'll be closer to my dream of fashioning this mess into a real book.
7. Were there any books that made you decide to start writing? If not, why did you start writing?
If I think about it, I realise that I began when I was around 9 years old. The reason as to why? I think it was the escapism which writing provided for me. There were points where I stopped and then when I was 12 I picked it up again. I think I took a look at the books I read and thought “i can totally do that!” Several abandoned stories later, here we are.
8. What form of media is most inspiring to you: books, movies, tv shows, video games, or something else?
I honestly take inspiration from many sources, but music takes the top place; its ability to transport me into my character’s heads and into scenes means that it serves as the most inspiration form of media to me.
9. How do you get into the mood to write?
Music Music Music!
10. What are your top 3 fictional relationships, platonic or romantic?
Patroclus x Achilles
11. What would your characters’ reactions be upon meeting you and knowing that you’ve orchestrated their entire lives?
Aliskandariya: “So this is all your doing?” *hands alight with flames*
Cailean:.... *silence*
Iara:.... *looks to Cailean* “What Alis said*
questions under the cut!

Thank you to @sarmarble for the tag!
Ahem...here is my line. It comes from Lost Souls’ Night Book One.
Ribbons of smoke drift hazy and thick above my lowered head, leeching the chill from the humid air.
Curse my longwinded writing style! That’s eighteen words right there.
At least it means I get treated to eighteen lines written by some of my favorite humans.

Find the Word Tag
Thanks for tagging me @fdehbiwrites! I loved reading your excerpts and combing through my old writing to find some of my own to share. :) I tag @abalonetea, @mascmalfunction, @elliswriting, and @moondust-bard
I’m not sure if I’m supposed to choose new words or not for the people I tagged, so I’ll just stick with the ones I used here! tension, pale, sun, wind, nature
tension: Kofi’s teasing tone, so full of love for Jacket, released the tension from Cat’s shoulders as she realized with the joke that things really would be okay. She laughed a little harder than she should have. “Thank you, Kofi.”
pale: The two looked nothing alike - Jacket with their pale face and long wavy hair, their father with skin dark as night and short, tight curls. But as they embraced, you could tell they were family from the warmness and comfort in each person’s eyes as they greeted the other.
sun: The sun was even lower in the sky now, but instead of blazing fiery colours, the sunset favoured deep purples and soft pinks.
wind:
“This is my sister, Cat.”
“Sister?” the creature repeated, looking to Jacket in confusion. Jacket said something, maybe a translation, but it was much more long-winded than just a single word-for-word exchange.
nature: She raised her eyebrows at Jacket and they scowled, but behind it was the good-natured humour of the joke they were all in on.

FIND THE WORD TAG
Thank you @fdehbiwrites for tagging me! 💗 (I did it five centuries later but it’s alright xD)
tension
Something else that helped the Isior release the tension of the day was water. Under its surface they felt safe and calm, like infants in amniotic liquid. They could hold their breath approximatelly for half an hour while immersed. Watching them fly close to lakes, rivers and the sea and then dissapear in them for so long humans had mistaken them for water deities in the previous centuries.
pale
A man blocked Athos way. “And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him”
“And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth,” Athos continued in the loud, merry tone of a preacher. This shocked the mortal, who stared at him blankly. Athos turned to Raphael. “You are right, those people are so much fun!“
sun
“But I looked at the sun,” she heard a child, a little boy, saying.
“You are lying!” said another boy. “Mum said that if you look at it you will go blind!”
“Maybe if it’s your first time looking at it it doesn’t harm you,” guessed a little girl.
“This is not possible!“ said the first one. “It’s a huge ball of fire in the sky!“
“To be honest, I expected it to be more impressive,“ added the other boy.
“Yes, I wanted it to seem bigger!“ exclaimed the girl. “And where was the fire? I saw none of it!“
wind
I couln’t find something non spoilery for this, sorry :/
nature
“Mother, please!“ Manik exclaimed. “Had a Niruvei dared to appear here you would chop him to pieces!“ Her father’s statement wasn’t far from the truth. Despite her old age, handling weapons was like a second nature for her grandmother.

11/11/11 tag
Lovely @fdehbiwrites tagged me here!
1. What is the one song you strongly associate with your WIP?
For now, Cali God by Grace Mitchell. The lyrics don’t match but the epic, mystical atmosphere of the song and just the passionate use of the phrase “you are a god” always make me daydream. I have the tendency to take unrelated things and take elements from them from my wip, whoooops!
2. Are any of your OCs based off of you, in some way?
I think every one of my OCs has something different from me but at the same time they aren’t necessarily people I wouldn’t get along with.
3. What is the most enjoyable aspect of writing to you?
Basically, creating a movie in my head. While I am writing I create situations and atmosphere that are pretty enjoyable (for me :P) and I can experiment and change the scene however I want! It’s daydreaming coming to life!
4. What is your favourite line which you have written?
“It was noon and Lavali awaited for Death and a three headed dog”. It’s not a deep one but it has stuck with me :P
5. What do you hope readers gain from reading your WIP(s)?
Discomfort (I am sorry guys), wholesomness (see? I made it up to you!), exploration of ideas and environments, some stirring of long dead feelings (aka just feelings), awe and shock.
6. If you could rewrite a famous novel what would it be and how would you change it?
Right now We by Yevgeny Zamyatin comes to mind. (Spoilers for the ending!) I would like for some small changes to come to that society at the end. I know it was a deeper message (like, the “we” is stronger than the individual) but I wanted to see a crack in that “perfect” dystopia.
7. The story behind your WIP(s) name?
My two main protagonists are closer to the villain archetype than a hero. And they also accuse the other MC of being the evil one. So each one sees the other as “the other evil”. And they are not wrong!
8. What are your favourite tropes to read?
1) Enemies to lovers 2) Human + supernatural entity as partners (friends, relatives, lovers whatever) 3) The chosen one that will defeat the evil 4) The Mentor 5) The Orphan 6) The gentle giant 7) (speaking of giants) Huge Monsters
9. What are your favourite tropes to write?
I like writing all the ones I mention in the previous answer and honestly, I don’t know yet because I haven’t tried writing all of them!
10. Which author influenced you the most?
Catheryne M. Valente (and Anne Rice, to sneak one more in).
11. What is your favourite line/quote that someone else has written?
Damn, my file with all my fave quotes is in another pc in another town! I have none of them with me :’( Sorry to dissapoint!

My questions for you!  (I would really love to see your answers but feel free to pass the tag!) @human-nonsense @coloricioso @m-s-harris @celstefani @aeschknight @greek-mythologies @lord-of-flyting @scheherazadesavestheworld @roselinproductions @byjillianmaria
You are suddenly transfered in the most intense scene of your book. How would the characters in that scene react to you?
What kind of situation or scene or setting seems to you like a waste of time to write about? (we all have our pet peeves)
How much of the day do you spent daydreaming?
What’s your favorite relationship in your book to write and why?
What’s the most difficult thing about writing characters from the opposite sex, for you?
Would you read reviews of your book after it getting published? (Some authors have expressed opposition to reading reviews and I am curious!)
What is something super obscure you have in your book, that only a very few people are likely to recognize?
Is there a book that you read as a child or teen, which, despite not being the Best Book Out There, stayed with you and maybe defined you?
Where did you get your idea for your current wip? (Give me the Tea)
Does anyone else in your family write? (My mum showed me that writing can be a hobby, so I would like to know if anyone had similar experiences!)
Why did you chose the setting that you have now for your current wip?

Find the Word Tag
Thank you to @fdehbiwrites and @antique-symbolism for tagging me in this!
My words were pale, wind, sun, nature, and tension. Here we go!
TENSION
A sizzling heat more undesirable and hideous than that scorching Vivaine’s fingers spreads across her cheeks. If only her High Priestess were here to witness Vivaine’s latest failures. What would her mentor say to Vivaine then? Vivaine’s eyes slide shut once more as lines of tension stretch along her spine, snapping it straight and unbent.
SUN
They’d risen with the sun and gone about their chores, recited their prayers at dawn, and picked at their breakfasts of porridge and blackberries in a smothering cloud of silence and bowed heads.
WIND
Curling ribbons of blustery wind twined through the bone white yew trees lining the courtyard, their rattling branches scratching against the temple’s glass and stone facade, besieging the grey courtyard with dead leaves and splinters of brittle bark.
PALE
A pale and trembling hand shoots out from beneath the furs and cushions piled atop the colossal four-poster bed, halting the maid before she can draw any closer.
NATURE
Anguished wails and disbelieving shrieks erupt around the Great Hall, echoing off the white marble floors and bouncing between the towering columns. But High Priestess Amarisa, that stalwart, ever-present force of nature, does not raise herself from the ground, nor does she attempt to console her charges. Instead she collapses into herself and joins her sisters in their desolation.
I tag @sarmarble @the-midwrite-oil @canallynwrite and @wolvesofarcadia
Your words are: Blood, black, song, speak, and fury
