Hey do you know where i can find that RenHitsu doujinshi?
That is a good question. I think the website of this doujinka is gone for a long time now... and I can’t remember where I’ve read it. Could be that it is stored somewhere on my old computer. I’ll look it up and can send you a message if you like!I actually thought that I own a copy of this doujinshi, but I own a different RenHitsu from this doujinka.. lol

Edelhater claim salad
Tumblr media
Hoo boy.
@fea-and-fehf-headcanons
A) If Edelgard’s out for genocide then she’s terrible at it. She lets Flayn go in CF, she can let her go second time along with Seteth without a fuss, she offers Rhea to surrender once she’s beaten, and her preference is to take Rhea alive.
B) So for starters she’s not an imperialist, she generally leaves the governmental bodies in the conquered regions (that Rhea didn’t destroy in Faerghus, anyways) intact. Her motives are not to conquer Fodlan.
C) She isn’t racist. Calling the Nabateans inhuman isn’t prejudiced given how much Rhea adulates what sets the Nabateans apart from humanity. Her supposed casket is decorated with dragon wings. She and Flayn both adore Byleth’s changed hair color that sets them apart from humans.
D) If anything, it’s Dimitri who thinks the weak need to be guided by the strong. Edelgard thinks the weak need to be allowed to become strong. When does she ever say the weak need to be ruled by the strong?
E) Who does she refuse to listen to?

I’m really mad because my recordings of my SB playthrough have been cutting out for some reason at times. It’s not going to make the cut pretty when all is said and done. >:(
I think I fixed it but man, so many hours of garbage.
I know my comments on my playthrough probably aren’t very exciting but I’m also posting them for reference later. In case I need to call back on something.
Anyways, time for anons and other asks! My answers are short because my hands hurt from typing so much.
Varleys sliminess is well documented. Even in the final battle and facing the Agarthans, killing Imperial Varley for being scum and spreading false teachings is a priority for some of Rheas troops.
The guy is an Imperial plant. I don’t blame from people wanting to take him out.
Like I'm not asking for Claude to stay the mostly squeaky-clean Good Guy he was in 3H, I'm just asking that he be allowed to retain any semblance of his character. Like... he could have brought in Almyran forces without telling anyone despite having fought off a large army from them not that long ago - in fact, specifically because of that last altercation with them, because he can't find it in him to trust his friends to believe in him, even though he desperately wants to.
That can cause some deep tension and suspicion between the Deer and Claude, and hey Shahid can be a reoccurring threat in his route to deepen that tension even more (instead of just a joke who immediately gets killed off - hey, maybe don't throw away one of the most interesting new additions to your story for no reason 3Hopes!!). You can have it to where Claude secretly gathering Almyran forces to bolster his Fodlandi ones is causing problems in Almyra, because now the people are split between supporting Khalid (the runaway prince, but who's fighting in a war that's proving daunting) or Shahid (the hot-headed fool, but one fighting for "traditional Almyran values" - i.e. proving themselves superior to Fodlan). That could cause Claude to question whether his faith and dreams of people working together as friends and allies is worth what going through with said dreams is causing to the war in Fodlan, his homeland, and his friends.
And his route as a whole can be about the struggle of having to juggle trusting your friends, trusting yourself (cuz hey Claude showing some self-doubt in GW is actually really neat but like. lowkey doesn't go anywhere imo), recognizing what is necessary to be a good leader, and his personal conflict regarding Shahid and Almyra as a whole! Oh, wow!! YET AGAIN Claude is given a route where OBVIOUS DIRECTIONS FOR HIS CHARACTER are right there that aren't taken, except now there's blatant character assassination to go along with the missed opportunities!! Oh boy my favorite!!
@fea-and-fehf-headcanons
There is nothing to add, really. I agree. They didn’t have to make him squeaky clean, but this just... isn’t Claude. It’s crazy how different this guy is.
They botched his route. I’m so sorry, Claude fans.
I just read the dev interview and I find the byleth take odd. I think you can the same plot for three hopes just playing as the lords.  If the what if a scenario is what the lords not meeting byleth why do you need a new avatar?
They could've given byleth their own route showing how much being a professor or working at church changed them. Maybe a secret route playing as them bouncing between all three factions fighting for each side as a common merc watching fodlan burn. A weirder idea is to have byleth raise their mini-army and get the sword of the creator and the people herald them as the new "liberator". Byleth could do this as a response to seeing the bloodshed on all three sides. Deciding to finally take action rather than passively jumping from place to place for work. That's sort of a character arc for them.
The only thing byleth concretely influences on all three routes for better or worse in three houses isn't the lords. It's the war coming to a close. Which doesn't end in three hopes. So having byleth be the one to end the war vs all three lords could be interesting?
I guess I should remember warriors games arent for plot/gameplay more so for fanservice and some mindless fun. Sorry for the word barf.
@happiighost
When I saw the new avatar months ago, I groaned out loud. Seriously, I HATE avatars. Shez was so unnecessary, especially when you have such a strong cast to play off of!
And yeah, the devs didn’t want Hopes to have a conclusive end or else it would invalidate Byleth. And like... ok? Then WHY have another avatar at all???? Just use the lords right out the gate and boom, problem solved.
But I will say this. The game IS fun. Dumb, but fun. And it does have some very good moments. Seteth crying for Flayn to escape was divine. I live for that shit.
Oh hold up, when does claude sacrifice his allies ? Which allies ?! Agh I'm afraid to watch the playthroughs and yet my curiousity arghhh
The Empire. Actually, I don’t think he ever sacrifices Kingdom allies. Just the Empire allies. Both routes, actually. Randolph in particular.
Am personally dreading how fans are already saying hopes/houses is worse than the other because x character, y scenario, z outcome, and tbh part of why i left the fandom is because no one can just fucking enjoy anything in fire emblem without immediately hating on its predecessors/sequels. Can people fucking chill? Regardless of their stances on any character or route can people really not find it in themselves to enjoy the games on their own?
No, people cannot chill. Sunk fallacy and all that. They have devoted their lives to “being right” and they will now feel vindicated, damn it!
But I think the reason people are so mad is because Hopes wanted to address fan criticism AND not invalidate Byleth. This is both a blessing and a curse. And not only that, but they are butchering characters in a way that isn’t entirely logical.
You can enjoy the game. But people have a right to be upset when the game isn’t faithful.
Like... I’m actually having a lot of fun! I’m confused a lot per the story. But gameplay is honestly great.

okay but the way Claude is the only lord that can meet all of the remaining Nabateans cuz his paralogue is the only way to know about Macuil... the Nabatean who specializes in wind just like Claude does... how Claude's the only lord (and one of the few characters period) that Byleth talks about Sothis living in their head with... how Claude and Rhea have so many parallels with each other... he has so many unique connections with the lettuce fam IS where were you going with this. why did nothing come of this
it makes me so sad that Rhea can't live on VW because then we really could've had a route where all the Nabatean fam is visible and living 😭
IntSys: so there's this kid, and his sole goal is to be done with prejudice so people like him never have to suffer the way he has.
Me: okay, I'm intrigued, go on.
IntSys: and then HIS route in this game focuses on the hidden history of this continent. In fact his unique side mission is to learn about a piece of that history.
Me: okay
IntSys: there's a race of people who've only ever called this place home, and yet they've been forced into hiding, hunted, treated as nothing more than objects
Me: 👀 Oh?
IntSys: so this kid gets to the point where he learns all this, from a dying woman of a dying race, still unable to be herself for fear of persecution
Me: so do they rally together? Does the embodiment of youth and hope help these people find their way back into the light? Do they create a world where no one has to hide for the mere factor of their fabrication? Their existence? Do they tie together tradition, community, and new dawns for people?
IntSys: lmao what? You thought this was GOING somewhere? You fucking idiot.
Me: But you set this up so nicely--
IntSys: Here, have the red emperor talk about walking a path with you
Me: Uh okay that's nice but I don't really know her--
IntSys: AND, for even asking such a stupid question, one of the genocide survivors is going to die and you can't stop it
Me: WHY?
IntSys: Fuck you ❤️ that's why

Can I just say... Claude updating his nickname from Your Princeliness to Your Kingliness for Dimitri... acting like a tsundere telling Dimitri that he's late when five minutes ago Claude was telling Judith that Dimitri came right on time... giving Dimitri his family heirloom weapon to help him achieve his dreams... promising to meet Dimitri again in the future... very good. Much to think about.
You absolutely CAN say, because Claude makes his tsundere nonsense even clearer when a unit talks to him
Tumblr media
Like...okay Claude we get it. Everyone gets to know how thankful you are BUT the guy you pleaded to for help 😭. And his voice acting in Japanese when he and Dimitri clash at Gronder? Genuinely feels so distraught to me. Like we get so few moments in the game where Claude is angry, yet being put in a position of making enemies with Dimitri because he won't listen to reason (or the developers couldn't grow a backbone and outright say the other countries united against the Empire, because then Empire Bad 😒) frays his calm and he gets heated. Claude! Getting heated! That says a lot about how he is around Dimitri.
And, I think, Failnaught is the only relic from outside of your recruits that you're forced to get in canon. (The Lance of Ruin is a toss-up depending on what choices you make.) There is literally nothing you can do in this game outside losing that prevents Claude from giving you...checking my notes--the country he's in charge of, the physical manifestation of his claim to Fódlani lineage, and the power over his long-held ambitions.
Which is what takes me to what you mentioned: that Claude really does place a lot of the future, the thing he fights for every day, in Dimitri's hands, and does it because he knows Dimitri wants to and can do right by the people of Fódlan. This entire fucking chapter, cover to cover, is literally the character who wants to trust the most (yet ends up trusting the least) putting his faith in a man who most find themselves eager to put their trust in. And he does it completely willingly! He sees this man who's just "snatched him from the jaws of death" and he's like...'Yeah let me put him in charge of one half of my dream. That makes sense 🥰.' He fully believes that when, ahem, King Khalid asks for an audience with the King of Fódlan, he'll be met with a man who wants to see his world come to being. The only other person he puts that much faith in regarding his ambitions, if I recall correctly, is Byleth, and they're imbued with fucking player powers of importance out the ass. Stuff like that is what really makes me lose it (in a very good way) over Claude because he has such a good heart and such an interesting way of going about showing it, in contrast to Dimitri who has a good heart and doesn't know how NOT to show it.
Just. Just these two. They plague my thoughts daily.

Okay so I am lost about something. Erwin belittles Claude as a poor ruler for his stunt with the Great Bridge regarding Ferdinand's forces. And Claude - and others - will berate the decision to continue onto Imperial territory to push back against the Empire, because of Almyra attacking while they were doing so not being accounted for.
But. Like. If Claude hadn't done those two things, then the Empire... would have attacked them while they were fighting back against Almyra. At least, that's implied going by what Erwin says: "I imagine [the Empire has] reconsidered their plans following the last battle. It was foolish of them to start a war on two fronts in the first place, it would be even greater folly yet to continue after witnessing the might of the Alliance." With Judith responding: "Hold on. Are you saying the reason you volunteered to defend the Great Bridge is because you figured it wouldn't be attacked?"
But the Empire never would have known about the Alliance's might if Claude had just fortified the Bridge and gone on the defensive like Erwin and others wanted him to. And without the fight against Bergliez - where the Alliance had given him both moral and pragmatic reasons not to follow them into the Alliance - he would have likely just... invaded the Alliance? Since there'd be literally nothing stopping him now?
And that battle with Bergliez: damn near flawless, even with Jeralt and Byleth muckin' things up a bit. The plan with the Bridge: exactly as planned. Capturing Ferdinand: not a complete success, but the Empire's still without an important commander nonetheless and lost a sizable amount of troops. The invasion with Shahid: unexpected at the moment, but Claude always had Nader in his corner and expected Shahid to attack at some point, and that battle also went down without much issue (uhh I mean besides the whole forced fratricide and the emotional turmoil that is that lmao but you get what I mean).
But Claude's still doubtful, nobody really trusts Claude still, people are wondering why the Empire didn't attack them while they were retreating (maybe it's because y'all beat their asses?? Or that y'all ran through their breadbasket and so made fighting impossible without ensuring further starvation in Adrestia??) and it's like holy fuckin' shit somebody needs to grow some goddamn confidence already. Seeing all of this success the Alliance is getting - even when unexpected shit flies their way, they adapt just fine around it - being contrasted with pretty much everyone still twiddlin' their thumbs and being so unsure of themselves is just... weird?
Like, cockiness will get them killed sure, but they're acting like nothing ever goes their way when just about everything goes about as well as they can go given the circumstances. It makes the idea that Claude siding with the Empire on GW was a decision ~made in distress and desperation~ that I've seen some try to explain his decisions as seem... completely unwarranted, because he was doing about as well as he could've done fighting them. Am I just missing something? Would love to know lmao cuz the dots just aren't connecting for me 😂
I'm gonna let you in on a secret: I've stopped trying to connect the dots. This game doesn't know what it's doing with itself. The Alliance was doing . . . pretty good for a country who's kinda known for their crap military. It's like. The plots that make sense for him to concoct? The ones you mentioned (Gloucester and Myrddin, Bergliez, Nader)? People were upset that they weren't in the know, but . . . they went off without a hitch. It's literally when Claude does an about-face and allies with the Empire out of fucking nowhere that his plans get more messy for his character, then outright messy in-fucking-general. It's like . . . you're right! Things were going well for them! Like, if I'm not mistaken, exactly what was happening in the background of Azure Gleam. But then they change it for no reason. Which I cannot comprehend. Because. Because things were going pretty well

Claude being someone who likes romance but isn't really romantic himself vs. Dimitri who's basically Romance Personified is cute lol, since Claude is very teasing while Dimitri is so sincere (and also teasing lmao) 💞
I'm so soft when I think about this flavour of Dimiclaude cause like. They both grew up around very strong love, even if one was strong because of how defiant it was and the other was strong for how quiet it had to be.
So, Dimitri, when he feels something, sees no value in hiding it. He's shameless in how much he loves, and he won't stifle it. Why should he? He's been given the chance to hold an invaluable heart in his hands, and no day will pass where Claude isn't reminded how honoured he is to do so.
I don't even think there's any particular experience that makes Claude's a quiet love; it just is. I think it falls in line with his view on how the world moves on even while you're hurting; a love, when it's strong enough, underscores one's whole life, without the need to draw attention to that line.
What's perfect about these two, though, is like. Claude loves loves loves romance, and learns to love it even more when Dimitri directs it at him. He stands strong and soaks in every inch of it, even if he doesn't quite match it beat for beat--but that's fine, because Dimitri has learned him just as well, and knows that love from Claude looks a little different and means the world. They learn a little bit of each other's habits and love languages. One of Dimitri's favourite pastimes is sitting with Claude and reading/working on legislation, touching each other in passing and loving the quiet company; Claude will never do it on a schedule, but once in a while he arranges Dimitri's minor affairs in such a way that allows them to go riding the whole day, and plans a meal of the crunchiest, most aromatic food for them to enjoy at the bottom of Dimitri's favourite pine tree from his childhood.
And of course it's kept lively by the fact they're both little shits, and Claude has to control himself when Dimitri says the most out of pocket shit with the straightest face, because they're in public and the King of Almyra losing his mind with laughter in the middle of an event would be an Incident™. Dimitri nods along as Claude recounts just about the most insane story from his childhood possible, knowing every word of it is true and his husband just Grew Up Like That. Their eyes always find each other's, though, when they inevitability have to make nice with the nobles they don't like and catch up with the nobles they do, and it's that undercurrent of love cropping up again, without prompt or wording or worry.
Yeah. Dimiclaude loving each other the best ways they can and that love growing daily. That's the good shit.

I'm sorry but ever since someone pointed it out I can't stop thinking about it lol:
Seteth on SB: The Gard may be attacking us and driving us from our homes but she must have reasons!
Dimitri on AG: The Gard may be invading our lands but some of her reforms are so admirable!
Shez to The Gard in their supports: Your war might be ruining lives but you probably thought a lot about it and things were kinda bad in Fodlan anyway!
Claude on GW: IF IT'S A FIGHT SHE WANTS IT'S A FIGHT SHE'LL GET I'M NOT BACKING DOWN (with the "THE NERVE" voice line to back it up)
HILARIOUS how out of everyone in the routes, Claude is the one to take the most stout stance against The Gard's war, without anything trying to soften her up as "maybe not that bad you guyz" getting in the way. There's no "well maybe she has her reasons" there's no "well she's doing good here" there's no "well she's doing what she thinks is right" there is ONLY "She is bringing war to my land and I will not tolerate it." Not to overlook Dimitri's stance against her too - it's impressive in its own right - but it's nice to see someone finally not try to give her any slack after she's demonstrably proven she's not deserving of any. It's just a demo so who know what the full game will reveal, but in the meantime... so much for "Claude would totally side with her" lmaooo
Wanted to reach into the screen and RATTLE the Lion man because Dimitri !!!! What are you TALKING about! From what I can tell she kept the nobles where they are; she still has a church, and it's one he doesn't like--surprise surprise, because it's Imperial rule dressed up as religion. It seems like she's done literally nothing different from Three Houses--in fact, she's done more!--and we only have the context of her war without the explanation of her reforms. I'm sorry, but why am I supposed to care that she's reshaped her country and STILL decided she wanted to tear Fódlan a new one. I'm not gonna say she didn't? change Adrestia in an admirable way? Because I don't know what she did. But it's BECAUSE I don't know what she did that I can only stomach Claude's response lol. Like when someone is knocking at your door with the intention to invade the shit out of you, you don't care. You're going to fight them tooth and nail and you're going to make sure they know better than to ever show their face at your border again; that's how you keep your country intact.
Slightly off topic, but was I right to see that Seteth was all "because she established a church she made an enemy of us an not the faith!" My brother in Sothis...a church established by the state? Are we joking? 😭 Why are the writers so intent on giving her leeway when she has none. Really hoping he changes his tune when she comes for his ass when his only crime is being Nabatean.
What also gets me is that Claude is the only one who hasn't been irreversibly antagonized yet; his route starts in defending Myrddin, whereas SB starts PAST Myrddin, and Dimitri already has to take in refugees. And yet, Claude is the one to get scrappy with the Empir lol?? Dimitri does say that he's not going to tolerate the injuring of his people, or the war in general (they kept you intact, my baby 🙏🏻), so I'm curious to see if his appreciation for her reforms comes from the fact that he's dealing with quite the bit of infighting that anything looks better? Because I don't think Faerghus would be any better off for having changed to look like Adrestia.
I'm trying not to be harsh because...demo. but also. I'm so not in the fucking mood to explain away her violent conquest. Here's hoping they don't do that 🙏🏻
