been thinking about how kpop has been recently packaged as feminist / feministcoded so the companies can

1. build a female fanbase as females are more loyal to groups and more willing to spend money

WHILST 2. also being able to get away with exploiting ggs and market towards creeps. because the feminist strong girl concept they get given makes people think "oh its their choice" conciously or subconsciously

e.g le sserafim have this fearless concept but i can think of SO many examples that clash against it

some examples i can think of right now

1) le sserafim's strong fearless concept isn't empowering when it's mainly made and controlled by men. one of the men (i think art director) posted a bdsm pic of a woman tied up on his insta (i dont believe bdsm/hurting a woman during s *x is a valid kink or whatever, i think its just an excuse to hurt women)

2) the fearless mv and teasers

3) le sserafim the group of crusty middle aged men telling them to diet URGHDHDDH and probably like 99% of ggs too

4) OH GOD THE CHAEWON INTRODUCTION TEASER WHERE SHE WAS LICKING THAT LOLLIPOP AND SHAKING HER HEAD IN THE DRESS IN THE RAIN OR SOMETHING THAT WAS UNCOMFORTABLE TO WATCH

theres more but yeah... its getting late here apologies for the lack of coherency haha

yeah it’s interesting but a shame how over-sexualisation and exploitation can be essentially repackaged into not be labelled as that (or even being called feminist) as long as you slap the words girl power onto it, despite never proving how or why it is now empowering and somehow not bad. clever marketing i suppose but it’s comforting to know there’s a lot of switched on people too, capable of critical thinking and can see what’s happening 💖 i think clc’s song no is also a good example of this in my opinion.
