THE GREAT FEAR | A Clans of the Waste Story

TW for depictions of gore, violence, death, murder, and monsters.

SUMMARY:

Our story begins in RockClan, just before Whisperfur and Peakwind welcome a litter of three kits into the world: Pouncekit, Fawnkit, and Fidgetkit. Fawnkit’s first memory is of his mother’s body being torn apart by a Creature with more eyes than teeth. The three siblings are raised in a time of terrible fear, with seemingly more Creatures than cats prowling the Waste. Everything RockClan does is just to survive, and dying a terrible, painful death seems a fact of life. Due to necessity, Fawnkit and his brothers are apprenticed at four moons old: he studies under Bluestripe as a Lorekeeper, after Volereader was killed when Fawnkit was only a moon old. His siblings, Pouncekit and Fidgetkit, become Healers, a role that is ever so important when, after every patrol, cats come back with life-threatening injuries. Soon after his apprenticing ceremony, Fawnpaw begins to be plagued with messages from his dead mother, who, stuck as a ghost, is forced to remain in the state that she died in: torn apart, and in agony. In hopes of reaching the elusive afterlife and escaping her eternal pain and suffering, she recruits Fawnpaw to investigate the origin of these Creatures, and drive them from the Waste once and for all.

Fadedflake is watching with pride as Bravepaw is named and given to Morningrose to apprentice under. They know that Morningrose was a good choice

Births

Shiveringivy brought a litter of 3 kits back to camp, but refused to talk about their origin. They are not caught to be the Half-Clan (LionClan) kits they are

Vervainkit (female), Heavykit (male), and Copsekit (female) are born!

Thistleprance and Burntspark found a litter of 4 kits and decided to adopt them

Snipkit (female), Chaffinchkit (female), Gardeniakit (female), and Stonekit (female) are born!

Cobaltnose went for a long walk this morning, deep in thought

Deino received a present, blue berries, from Bethany and decided to keep it with them on their pelt

For just this one perfect moment, heads pressed together and speaking their commitment in front of the Clan, there's nothing in Pigeondart and Mewhawk's worlds but love (I'm just as surprised wtf)

Pigeondart was seen touching noses with someone from SplinterClan. Scandalous!

Mewhawk was seen talking calmly to a loner, before both cats went their separate ways

Mulberrydust was seen in a very serious conversation with a kittypet, who ran away when another patrol approached

The ground falls beneath Streampatch's feet, and they tumble to the ground, breaking their leg. Harlequin runs back to catch them, but falls as well, breaking their tail.

Kisha finds juniper while out on a rock and gives them to Void.

Tigercave explains to Streampatch that it will likely always be twisted awkwardly.

Harlequin's tail has become infected.

Moon 78:

Tigercave tries to convince Sproutkit to run away with them (?????)

Sproutkit teases Void all day long.

Streampatch feels like they're missing out on adventures.

Lionspots tells the kits about thrilling stories of the past.

Cottondart boasts about their loyalty to the Clan. Sproutkit tells Cottondart that she is boring and no fun.

Cottondart plays mossball with Robinkit.

Robinkit is nervous, but Strikespots whispers encouragement. He is named Robinpaw.

Harlequin wakes up, and Tigercave has to tell them that they had to cut off his tail as a last resort.

Kisha happily retires. She reflects on how differently their life changed.

Sproutpaw chases a loner from the territory.

While gathering herbs, Duskheather feels a presence join them, but the presence shimmers away before she can figure out who it may have been.

Moon 89:

Cavernblossom confessed their feelings to Void, and they became mates.

Sproutpaw is named Sproutrise. They awkwardly thank their Clanmates for their congratulations, before sneaking away from the camp to be alone.

Moon 90:

Harlequin died of an infected wound.

Moon 91:

Void and Bearstar both announce that they are expecting kits.

Moon 93:

Bearstar and Goldfox had three kits: Coniferkit (f), Hollowkit (f), and Breezekit (m).
