Meanwhile, in another WIP.....
“Are you Gordon Freeman?”
Gordon jolted and looked up, glasses slipping down his nose as he stared at the girl in shock. She raised her eyebrows, which wrinkled her forehead and shifted the black headband that kept her dark hair pushed back. She was wearing well-worn fingerless gloves, some kind of modified bomber jacket with a plethora of zippers and the sleeves rolled up over a thin gray hoodie that was cut short to expose entirely too much midriff, and light-wash jeans that looked painted on over heavy boots. She looked, in a nutshell, effortlessly cool, and utterly out of place in the workroom with its overflowing shelves of wires and circuit boards. Gordon looked over her shoulder at the closed door to the store, then took a breath to tell her to get out when his hand was suddenly on fire.
“Ow – fuck! What?” He jerked the soldering pen away and glared at the tiny red mark on his finger, then transferred that glare to the girl, whose eyebrows were somehow even higher. She looked very unimpressed. “Look, you can't be back here -”
“The manager let me in,” the girl said, flapping a hand over her shoulder. “Are you Gordon Freeman? I don't see anyone else back here.”
“What are you, a cop? Get out of here,” Gordon snapped. His shoulders ached from hunching over the worktable, but he'd been so close to finishing the rebuild that he hadn't wanted to stop and stretch. Now he was worried if he tried to stand up and usher the girl from the room it would end with him collapsing on the floor with numb legs, and he really didn't want to deal with that.
“You don't have a nametag,” the girl said. “That would make this easier.”
“I don't work in the main store,” Gordon told her. “Who are you – and, hey, why do you want to know? And why did Adrian let you back here?”
“I'm Alyx,” the girl said. She stepped forward and pulled a card case out of one of the zippered pockets on her jacket, holding it out. “And he let me back here because the characters in my game are asking for Gordon Freeman, by name. So is that you, or not?”

non autistic people will be like "autistic people don't have empathy the way we dooo" and then see someone be in such high stress that they're screaming so hard their throat gets sore and punch themself so hard they bruise their own legs and then say "wow they must be doing that on purpose to cause a scene and demand attention. and to make my life specifically worse of course."

if ya'll don't think it's incredibly important to me that, until snw fucked it up, number one all but disappeared from the star trek timeline after 'the cage' / 'the menagerie,' I don't know what to tell you.
like, this woman who canon never named and who was never again mentioned by any character in any star trek show. who is notably absent from 'the menagerie,' who didn't assume command of the enterprise after pike...
the way she just disappears from the narrative. and the way snw could have played with that? instead of... the nonsense in 'those old scientists'.

I do think Ome.luum, being a Mind Flayer, can sometimes have difficulty with expressing and even understanding emotions. It has a range of emotions, even those often unseen from their kind as noted in game, but that doesn't mean there isn't issues. They are very direct with thoughts and words as to not be misconstrued or taken as manipulation, but due to this can sometimes appear cold or distant or making conversations feel 'too professional'.
From others, sarcasm can be occasionally lost on them as well as sincere displays from those it has not been around for long. They do not wish to pry through minds unrequested to determine the legitimacy or origins of words, but also coming from a species whose manipulation is basically written in DNA, it's a caution that's innate and hard to shake. Of course such paranoia it will not speak and will display what is believed to be proper in the moment- either a light comment if it's a joke or sarcasm, or a simple thank you or display of appreciate in one way or another if a sincere display of positivity

Sometimes, it’s sort of hilarious how many allergies I have. I’m halfway through a form, in which I have to list them, and I’ve been blue-screening for about 5 minutes trying to remember all the ones that come after the food ones

like, I'm sorry, but are you telling me that this woman served with pike her entire career, and they're not gonna have an actual, personal, heart to heart conversation ever about what it means for her to be illyrian and have kept it from him for two decades, or, I don't know, the fact la'an discovered she turned herself into starfleet? or literally anything else that happens in these two seasons...

Went scavenging for rabid screenshots and drained my soul along the way so here's my silly nitpick of their nitpick
Tumblr media
The academies (almost) align with colleges age-wise (I am once again asking why they chose 17 as the majority cast's age), but the Beacon era is littered with tropes exclusive to high school settings, like shoving people into lockers, school uniforms, insta-crushes, food fights, and getting ready for prom
It's little wonder why people confuse Beacon Academy for a high school. All the high school hallmarks are there yet not a single student is pulling an all nighter with the help of redbull, cigarettes, and anxiety-induced insomnia
Side note: are the Academies confirmed 4-year programs or is that an assumption?

I have been super close to a robust number of artists over the years and it is hugely funny how much I absolutely just fucking hate the process of creating digital art

One thing I hated about TotK is how ultimately nothing seemed to matter to me as the player, with major examples being with Sonia’s death, when Zelda became a dragon, and Ganondorf’s role as the big bad.
Why would I have any emotional attachment to Sonia when I’ve seen her in only a few disconnected, largely out of context cutscenes before she is suddenly killed off? I barely even get that there is an emotional connection between her and Zelda because we spend such little time with them.
And Zelda’s transformation to me seemed like such empty way to elicit an emotional response to the player, especially when it ultimately has zero consequences. I mainly say that because Link, and therefore the player, is so disconnected from these events. We are told many times that the dragon transformation is permanent and no one knows a cure to it but here comes deus ex machina Sonia and Rauru to transform her back, with absolutely no build-up, foreshadowing, or effort from Link/the player
Lastly, I think they totally fumbled the bag with Ganondorf. I was excited when the game started and he acknowledged Link and Zelda by name. I thought perhaps this would be similar to Wind Waker Ganondorf, who held grudges against the previous Link and Zelda. But this Ganondorf is a completely new character with absolutely no connection to Link! Why is it such a threat to him to hear about Link and the Master Sword when he has no idea who that is or why that’s important?? That’s so stupid

I’m realizing that with the way I interact with the real world, I could very much make the case of being an alien trying to learn about and blend in with the human race
I don’t know if that makes sense, but the way I act sometimes, you’d think I don’t know what a person is

Needs to be said: Ome 100% has hate for Gortash especially after the Iron Throne situation. It might be a calm individual that rarely lets such feelings grow within it, but there is no other emotion that can explain its feelings.
