I’m realizing that with the way I interact with the real world, I could very much make the case of being an alien trying to learn about and blend in with the human race
I don’t know if that makes sense, but the way I act sometimes, you’d think I don’t know what a person is

May I ask what you like about Jamilkal?
Oh my gods ok Imma try not to infodump but also stay clear while I'm rambling.
So, mostly I'm a "platonic soulmates KaliJami" believer. It's less about romance or lust or whatever else and more about them just... gravitating around each other in a way that simply cannot be described with the words we usually associate with love.
Especially since you gotta add the hatred/hurt aspect to it all. The power imbalance. The fucked up situation they're both in. The traumas they've both gone through.
They love each other. They hate each other. They need each other. They keep sabotaging each other. They can't imagine their lives away from the other. They drag each other down and themselves all the time. They care so much for each other. They keep hurting each other.
It's all about tragedy. There is no way for them to heal and get a better relationship but by being separated. But they could never willingly part ways from each other. They'd need to be forcefully pulled apart, and even then they'd probably fight tooth and nail to get back to the other. Even when they're apart they can't stop thinking about each other. The other is seared in their DNA at this point, it'd be like cutting a limb to force them away from each other.
You might think "yeah but Jamil tried to kill Kalim." While he was overblotting, yes. As did all the overblotters, whether or not they loved the people they were attempting to hurt or not. But Jamil, while he did try to ruin Kalim's reputation and have him leave the school, never intended on hurting him. He could have done so much worse, Kalim and his family have so much faith in him, and the only thing he did was trying to get Kalim fired. He would have ended back under the Asim service as soon as school was done. He never meant to get rid of him forever, just push him away long enough so he could find himself.
Which he couldn't. Because fate simply refuses to leave them separated. Because Kalim or his father insisted they stayed together. And now you might think that Kalim is the one pushing this relationship, but have you heard just how much Jamil refers to Kalim? Kalim can live without Jamil, but damn is Jamil obsessed with Kalim. To an unhealthy extent.
Yes it's because of his upbringing. Yes it's because he fears for his and his family's sake. Yes it's because he's an overbearing mom friend. Doesn't change the fact that he has Kalim under his skin 24/7.
The point isn't that it's healthy. They could never be healthy together, no matter how much they try to change their dynamic. Jamil stifles Kalim's growth by being overbearing. Kalim stifles Jamil's growth by constantly relying on him. They feed off each other. Their flaws feed off each other. They just keep making each other worse.
And that's just such an interesting dynamic to explore. They're made for each other but they can't be together. Their story can only end well if they separate. It's as tragic as you could make.
So yeah. That's why I love KaliJami. They're a tragedy. They gonna burn together and they're gonna do it clinging to each other.
And boy, if that ain't love.

...oh that crack on Tenna's screen, and the emphasis on Tenna always being there for Frisk, makes me have questions about Frisk's life before falling into the Underground. Very, sad, questions at that.
Tumblr media
*You think back to before you fell. *You remember the CRT that was in your room. *You remember turning it on at night so the glow of the screen would keep the darkness at bay. *You remember you used to be scared of the dark. *You don't remember why you didn't just get a nightlight. *You remember falling asleep to the white noise of its operations like a lullaby. *You remember you couldn't actually hear the shows. You always had the volume too low. *You don't remember why you kept the volume too low for anyone to hear. *But you think you remember... *That that's exactly why you kept the volume so low. *You think Tenna probably remembers more.
*You don't ask.
*He doesn't answer.

I sense zero threat from this hickey fellow, whom I just thought brought me a human corpse to eat. godspeed :D

yknow on that note, there's been so many theories about 'in all timelines, in all possibilities' with regards to how many Jayces have visited mage Viktor, whether his words imply all but our Jayce have failed or whether it's Jayce in all timelines that succeed.
And I just want to put this tidbit out there - if many Jayces have met mage Viktor atop the hexgates and received his instructions, and tried & failed to kill Viktor in the commune, you'd need a lot of hammers.
Now, true, we don't know if our Jayce is the only one who fell into the ravine and dismantled his own hammer, hence why he had to take husk Jayce's. As many have speculated, that could have been why he ultimately succeeded - he was hardened and enlightened by the experience of having to walk a literal mile in Viktor's footsteps, retracing his hardships through life. Maybe it was a test, mage Viktor closely monitoring him to make sure he didn't die but understanding this was necessary to prepare Jayce for what lay ahead. But there's only one corrupted mercury hammer, and given that we see husk Jayce's fingers literally break off and get stuck to the hammer when he releases it, it's clear this hammer has never left his grip since he knelt down there ages ago.
I've recently seen this screencap going around:
Tumblr media
One of many of Jayce's potential 'divergence point' moments - but is it really? I love the idea, especially given the following moment of his face splitting into many screaming thrashing versions of himself. It's certainly set up visually to invoke divergence points. But idk it just doesn't add up to me!! We can't see the hammer design on these Jayces, and also, why would they all look exactly like our Jayce who was stuck in the ravine for weeks/months? If many Jayces spent time in the cavern there'd be evidence, and they'd have an equal chance of succeeding. Would mage Viktor let so many Jayces die, after the grief and pain of losing just one - his own, after going through the trouble of saving young Jayce when he could easily avoid all of this by just, not rescuing him?
It comes back to 'in all timelines, in all possibilities, only you can show me this.' Many have pointed out the wording is very specific here, vs something like 'out of all timelines and possibilities' which would imply our Jayce is the only version of Jayce that can succeed. This is such a big sticking point for me because the fandom really cannot seem to agree on or even figure out what the hell's going on. The wording we got implies that in all timelines it's always Jayce who brings him back from the brink, and Viktor sets it up that way because he always saves young Jayce and gives him a rune to start his journey. And yet, we get radically different interpretations of this scene that are basically opposites - either Jayce always fails or he always succeeds. You'd think that if Jayce can't do it by attempt number five hundred Viktor would start rethinking his strategy. The romanticism of it stems from Jayce succeeding in other timelines - so why is the more common interpretation that he usually fails? And I'm not pinning this on the fandom - I think the show could have given us something just a tad more explicit (about literally all of this) to let viewers know what was really going on here.
It also feeds into the separate but connected ongoing speculation about Mage Viktor's existence in general. I've seen it postulated that our Jayce succeeding broke a cycle and somehow erased the ruined timeline from existence (and I've heard this one often enough that a fair amount of people must believe it). I just don't see why that would happen. From what I've heard, it comes from the fan idea that all anomalies are connected or are the same anomaly, thus destroying one destroys them all, which, we have no evidence that's the case in any way. Even if so, destroying the anomaly wouldn't destroy the timeline. Mage Viktor now exists in the arcane, he is outside of time and space. Even, even, if his timeline ceased to exist, he's basically immortal. I think this all stemmed from the shot where the corrupted hammer crumbles into dust atop the hexgates, having served its purpose. And yes, I do think it's symbolic of breaking the cycle, but I don't think we can take that and say that timeline doesn't exist anymore (esp when Swain's raven takes the hexgem from it whoops).
these are just some disorganized thoughts. I really like analyzing these things but most of the fandom's on twitter and not only do I have zero footprint on there to help my posts get any traction, but it's not exactly the best platform for long-form meta. anyway.

You've established that Odile has rather unhinged taste in people. Do you have further headcanons on that topic?
Hm... Most of the adjacent headcanons that I could talk about here would require a lot of psychological and cultural context. So let's just talk about that context!
As a child, Odile was disconnected from her peers due to heritage, temperament, and latent transgenderism. As lonely children sometimes do, she decided that she didn't need or want friends anyway, and even if she did, it wouldn't be any of these losers! They were always wasting their time on fun and social useless things that she was too weird smart and special to be invited want to do. She studied very hard and excelled in school, did a couple extracurriculars that didn't require much teamwork, and at some point during adolescence realized that unfortunately the Vaugardians were correct about the changing genders thing.
Ka Buan philosophy encourages people to understand themselves, refine themselves, explore different facets of themselves — but not change themselves, because fundamental characteristics simply cannot be changed. Accordingly, gender-noncomforming fashion and binding/padding and nicknames are fine, hormones and surgery/bodycraft and declaring yourself a different gender are not. But Odile wasn't one to let social mores stop her, so once she reached adulthood, she left her hometown and showed up at the city as Odile. And not just any city, but one with a reputation for cutting-edge craft research and certain countercultures.
You can't just show up and ask around for where the illegal bodycrafting is, though. You have to meet people, win their trust, let them introduce you to other people, repeat. Odile... honestly wasn't that great at it. She hadn't had much cause to practice social skills, so she wasn't very friendly or persuasive! But she was determined, thorough, confident, passionate, genuine in her intentions, and newly hot — and you can get away with a certain amount of blunt arrogance when you're hot. You just have to let people assume you're too cool and busy for humble niceties, which Odile did quite easily, because she's always thought of herself as such. So she found her way through the right queer punk circles eventually and completed her physical transition!
And she liked those circles. The people she met and the topics they discussed and the things they did were all so much more interesting than she had assumed any peers of hers could be! But she still considered herself more competent and correct than anyone else around her, because why would that change just because she moved? Her success in transitioning just further proved that she could do anything if she tried hard enough, that she was right all along in assuming her social failures were due not to lack of skill but lack of interest. So she ended up in this dynamic where she was impressed by the people around her and wanted to have fun with them and learn more about them, but also thought herself better than them and above such things as kindness or friendship.
And she was in that "holy shit I'm surrounded by dykes and I'm a dyke now too" stage that some queer people experience after they come out.
So, she wasn't interested in boring. She wasn't interested in nice. She wasn't interested in regular people with regular concerns, like the peers who excluded her in her youth. She wasn't interested in romance or committed relationships or being emotionally vulnerable.
And, she wasn't put off by annoyance, because people annoyed her as a whole anyway. She wasn't put off by danger, because she was sure she could handle anything. She wasn't put off by clashing personalities, because it wasn't like she was planning to go on long walks on the beach with any of her partners anyway.
Thus, she found herself drawn to the most exciting people in the room. Interpersonal drama, emotional outbursts, poorly-thought-out-choices, intense obsession, risky hobbies... it was all oh-so thrilling! Of course, she did realize that the people she was attracted to had major, glaring flaws. But Odile was determined, thorough, confident, passionate, genuine in her intentions, and newly hot. If she couldn't fix them, who could?
We know from Odile's optional sidequest that when she sees something suspicious, she dedicates herself to solving the mystery. We know from her presence at Mirabelle's side that when she sees a problem, she steps in to help, because if you want something done right you do it yourself. The one major exception? The topic that has her backing down, giving up, confessing incompetence?
Emotions.
She has long since learned that she is not actually very good at fixing those.

❕ Rise comic spoilers ❕
The future turtles’ sizes hmmm
Something interesting I noticed was that the future boys…aren’t all that massive? They’re still tall, but good future Leo seems roughly on par with present day Raph, which is about six feet or so. Hell, future Casey Jr looked taller than future Donnie and Leo.
It’s probably just stylistic differences between the movie and comic, but I kinda like to think that maybe the presence of the Krang and their goop caused mutants to grow bigger? They did bring empyrean to earth and are directly intertwined with yokai and mutants being around at all…
Just a fun thought, is all. Happy(ish) timeline = less of a chance to hit your head on every single doorframe.

This part focuses on Quincey in particular instead of everyone, "Quincey raised his eyebrows slightly and looked at her intently", and I wonder if it connects with what he had said before: "And I promise you, too, that I shall make all certain, for if I am only doubtful I shall take it that the time has come!" Because Quincey is the one who always clocks on the situation at hand first, and patrols for threats (and if he spots one he shoots first asks questions later)
He does clock things very fast and takes action just as quickly. When he's facing the right way.
But in this scene, our favorite Texan isn't looking the right way or even reacting safely as much as he is quick about it. Even if his reaction was entirely innocent surprise, the fact that he made clear how ready he was to serve Mina's euthanasia request--seemingly with more readiness than even Dr. Jack Malpractice who must 'steel' himself to the idea--has absolutely stuck in Jonathan's mind.
Hence Jonathan death gripping the kukri as Quincey gets (to his eyes) the wrong kind of interested.
The whole story could have gone very nasty very fast if Mr. 'You've yeed your last haw' Morris had made a wrong move at that moment.

yeah yeah trick weekes says whatever about it not making sense that solas couldnt sneak off THEY FAILED TO CONSIDER that maybe he just is ass at it when he gets invested. much like. the whole fucking rest of the romance where he COMPLETELY fails to resist until the breakup.
anyway.
im personally of the opinion that he's more liable to slip up - fail at sneaking, accidentally reveal details, contradict himself - when he actually makes bonds with people. which is why after trespasser he goes and lives alone in the lighthouse for ten years but i digress.
and i think "that", the bonds tripping him up, should be reflected in his exit from the Inquisition. you're enemies or neutral, yeah he just vanishes. there's nothing to keep him there, nothing to interfere with his plans and intentions. you're (ex)lovers? i think he still would pull back purposefully and probably vanish, but there would be definite hesitation. he would have to force himself to do so, because fuck, he wants to stay. he wants to be close to you. but he also, crucially, knows that you have a dangerous sway over him, so he MUST disengage. if you're friends, it takes him some effort. because he does like you, he doesn't want to do what he has to, it's been so long since he had people who were friends to him, and he doesn't have to force himself away because he's in too deep. he knows you would worry about him. he might not be willing to give anyone the truth - but he would owe you a goodbye, at the very least. especially if you weren't the type to try to convince him to stay.

#only friends#only friends the series#ofts#mark pakin#papang phromphiriya#i am obsessed with how good papang is#trust me to read too much into it but to me he clearly has an idea who 30 sth year old Dan is#seemingly out of the dating scene since at least his graduation so doesn't know the current lingo#feeling a bit too old but also unsure how he likes being called old but hot#very charmed by this junior but not used anymore to getting butterflies in a club#lowkey knows that the boss thing might be a bit hmm...#(listen: i love that again the show doesn't give us a clear line of 'dan is a creep' because there is a lot of room for him to essentially#be a good option for nick as well as the possibility of accidentally acting unethical) especially within the community it is worth to#observe whether the power imbalance on its own speaks against the person#he's also a bit shy wondering whether this cute guy would actually be interested in him because he is sweet and obviously aquainted with#going to bars so surely he must have options#and mark is also so wonderful ;A; even before he spots boston you can see that there is still some heartbreak lingering#but also that he liked the kiss but it was a very different feel to boston#also: somehow papang in mlc and papang here kisses absolutely differently and it makes so much sense to me that he at this point in his#life would kiss like this?? idk how to explain it better#this show continues to bring out the best acting out of everyone#(to derail: maybe why i want the writing for top to be that he's still in the grey so badly because i think that is the kind of difficult#acting force is actually mastering in this series)
