" No ! You're HEARING THINGS. Get a doctor ! " Jack flushed and mock-gagged, before digging into his face. It wasn't like his real dad sucked... bad. But he wasn't exactly there. Bruce was just... caring, for a giant landshark. From the moment he stopped being a monster to Jack, he just seemed to act like something a little more dependable than a henchman. Since he was a sapient creature, there was no relegating him to 'mans best friend' even if it was tempting. Without the othering, would that just make Bruce his best friend ?

It’s not really much of a surprise that I turned to making a somewhat more somber animatic following the death of my abuelita.

But doing so helped a bit, even if just as a distraction.

This little animatic is part of a fun little collaborative project between @heylinhenchman and me, inserting Bruce the Cetus into the Xiaolin Showdown universe as a somewhat reluctant friend-bodyguard-turned-father-figure for Jack Spicer.

It was fun to change styles for a bit, and animate a bit more loosely at 8fps. Audio is a little off after formatting it for Instagram.

Bruce’s a.i.-generated voice from Eleven Labs still sounds a bit too American for my taste, but it’s the closest I could get.
