What fandoms do you write for?

Final Fantasy currently (14, 7, and dabbling in others like 16, 9, and 10 for zines and personal works), but if you look at my AO3, you'll also find Natsume Yuujinchou, Studio Ghibli (Whisper of the Heart, Spirited Away, Mononoke Hime), Persona (mostly 5, dabbling in 3,4), Mystic Messenger, Love and Deepspace, and Dororo. Basically I like to write anything that catches my fancy but ffxiv takes too much of my headspace right now.

Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

Yes! Even when I don't know what to say and just reply "thank you!" lol. I really appreciate when people go out of their way to tell me they like my stories, so I try to return their kindness (even though sometimes it takes me so long to respond back :') comments tend to trigger my social anxiety sdjfkj).

What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

as a friend once said, i write angst, but hopeful angst, so while i have written multiple fics that made people cry, most of them still ended in a hopeful note ^^; so maybe i will give you this:

A Dream Under the Stars (Natsume Yuujinchou, in which I wrote about Natsume being trapped in a youkai-induced dream where his biological parents are alive)

What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Perhaps In the Garden of Everything (FF7, Zack x Aerith), an AU of sorts I wrote for ZerithWeek 2023 in which Zack and Aerith find their peace in a paradise of flowers. Other contenders may be The Pocky Game (FF14, WoL x G'raha) or Since Before I Knew You (Persona 5, Ren x Ann, childhood friends AU).

Do you get hate on fics?

not really, though there was that time when someone said some rude comments about a Ren/Shiho fic a friend commissioned me. insta-delete lol (the comment not the fic).

Do you write smut?

No.

Unless for my personal enjoyment that I put under lock and key that will never see the light of day XD

But otherwise no hahaha. Don't ask me to write smut. I cannot for the life of me write good smut skdjfdk

Do you write crossovers?

Not really either. brain doesn't quite braining with crossovers sadly though i do enjoy them.

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

not that i'm aware of... i think... hopefully...

(I just have this vague recollection of seeing a fic of mine on wattpad that's not on my account, but i'm not sure.....)

nope.

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

i do brainstorm ideas with friends, but never co-write something before. but I have collabed with artists, mostly for my zine pieces. also had an artist drew something from one of my fics, and wrote something based on one of that artist's artworks too.

One of my proudest works that I collabed with someone is Divine Lover of the Moon (FF14, Oschon x Menphina), a hefty 19.8K fic I wrote for the FFXIV Fantastic Fauxlore Minibang in collaboration with @/trarioven.

What's your all-time favourite ship?

Uh, this is pretty hard since it changes often, but I guess for fic writing purposes, currently: WoLGraha (or if I were to use my own personal ship name: Nayraha :3) and AzemHermes (both from FF14). Have too many to list from non fic writing purposes so I'll leave it at that haha.

What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

my FFXIV longfic LMAO. one day I will write Nayra's story along with all my other OCs' stories ahahahaha

What are your writing strengths?

A couple friends have said that I often nail character voice (inner voice i think?). Others said that they love my pacing and overall story flow. Also how it's easy to imagine the scenes I write? To summarize some of the comments I often receive, some people like the way I convey emotions in my stories.

What are your writing weaknesses?

Honestly, I would really love if people could tell me what my weaknesses are XD but for the most part, I feel that since English isn't my first language, my prose and descriptions are pretty much average. Sometimes they may even be over the top because I'm trying to write "good" prose and it ends up sounding pretentious at best or a slop at worst sdkfjh. also, feel like i keep writing to the same tropes again and again lmao. and, my writings tend to be too much in my character's head?

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?

i mean, if you know the language and are quite fluent in it, why not? I'd say it's the same as original fictions. As long as it serves its purpose, I see no harm in it. If your character knows the other language, then they will understand the dialogue you write in it. If not, all they'll hear is gibberish; they wouldn't be able to make out the words that form the sentence. And think about your audience too. What purpose does writing in another language have for your fic?

Gakuen Alice. Fic still up on FF.net haha. Too lazy to delete that account.

Favourite fic you've ever written?

I think Attachments.

I wrote this based on a "prompt" (though it was mostly a random tumblr post/headcanon) of Madara dealing with Natsume's death. Not only did I get to meet a friend I'm still in contact with now, the comments I received on that fic still warms my heart to this day. That fic is 7 years old and I still receive kudos and comments from it, and they all speak of the same thing: how reading that story gave them a catharsis they didn't know they needed. The first time I got a comment like that, it made me cry. I wouldn't have known my words could affect someone else so deeply like that. Even though over the years other fics have beaten it in terms of hits and kudos, it's still among my top bookmarked and commented fics. Attachments still holds a special place in my heart.

Final Fantasy XIV (Half-Life: 3, Raiders: 0) has such a variety of foods on display. And we usually only mention them when Yoshi P is making--interesting looking cookies or selling a cookbook. But, since Culinarian IS a practice and such a practice that it has an entire guild dedicated to it. It means it has some level of impact ingame. Therefore, in theory, your character would probably dine on these ingame items. So, from the options delivered from above, what would be your characters' favorite from the selection? (Variety and complexity of the dish is wholly derived from a mandate of the Devs' whims apparently)

Canon ship: This is hard to be honest as i don't really do canon ships anymore. It had to pick out of the ones i do have then one of my favs is Anakin/Padme. I grew up watching the prequels and always loved them (ty clone wars for making theri relationship even better)

I cannot remember the last time i was able to sit down and read a book. I struggle to do so due to my ADHD but I have been reading a lot of cookbooks lately so i guess they count? My most recent 3 are 'Stars Wars the ultimate cookbook', the Final Fantasy 14 cookbook, and lastly the critical role cookbook

I can't really sit through movies anymore as i get bored extremely fast and need something to do at the same time. The last thing I watch and actually still am watching is Classic Time Team!

It's just a moogle talking about the food he cooked, characters he met and the recipes they gave him along the way. It was nerve-wracking making a crazy-involved dish for someone else, especially when I had never done things like fillet whole red snapper before or ever really made a soup before. Pan-Fried Mahi-Mahi

Another straightforward one today, because the next one I’m posting is taking 4 days to complete :D Pan-fried fish fillets are quick, not too pricey, easy to cook, and generally not terrible for you, so I cook a lot of fish at home. This one is similar to a Salmon Meuniere (covered in flour and fried) but the Culinarian’s Cookbook says Pan-Fried Mahi-Mahi is fried in olive oil instead of a brown butter sauce. (Booo, the healthy option.) I personally think frying this in butter would taste better, as mahi-mahi is a pretty mild fish, but I’m following Square’s cookbook here!

If you’d like to make more than one portion, simply flour more fillets and add more olive oil as the pan gets dry. Give it a good sizzle to pay it back for all those Silver Sovereigns you didn’t catch because a Mahi-Mahi got in the way!

Pan-Fried Mahi-Mahi! 

1 (4-6oz) fillet of mahi-mahi 

A couple of tablespoons of flour 

A splash of olive oil

Parsley to garnish

Lemon to squeeze over fish (optional) 

Salt and pepper your fillet, then dredge it in flour until it’s lightly coated. Pour a splash of olive oil into a frying pan to lubricate it, and once the oil is hot and shimmery, put in your fillet. Depending on the size and thickness of your fillet, your cooking time will vary. For my 1.5inch-thick fillet, it took about 3 or 4 minutes per side. Cook for several minutes on each side until the fillet is no longer soft and translucent inside; mahi-mahi turns beautifully white and flaky when cooked. Transfer to a plate and, if you have any on hand, drizzle fresh lemon juice over the fish. Sprinkle with parsley and serve.

The thing that is really fucking me up about Final Fantasy XIV might just be because I came from the Plato's Cave of shipping which is Destiel Supernatural, but the ships in this game are wiiild.

Like, I'm not a very widely played gamer but I've played a few things with romance options and the game has a tree around them and the story subtly changes or you, idk, move a peep onto your farm in Stardew or whatever. The game is built to handle that. Final Fantasy 14 is an MMO with pretty much no branches to the story whatsoever, and also at its heart the game is not a romance nor are any of the NPCs there to Be Romanced.

Except like there's more NPCs than I can count on my hands who are just plain in love with your character should you choose to interpret it that way, and also, sometimes in the middle of that venn diagram, in love with someone else, sometimes also another major character. And none of it is "canon" when it comes to any major character for whom pinning them down would be remotely upsetting to any one person who is playing and either ships themselves with one of the NPCs or ships the NPCs in a different formation. While at the same time all this is being wholly well written and the end result is weirdly fulfilling.

Maybe you wanna say you're married to Y'shtola. Bam! Your warrior of light is married to her and you love each other very much. Maybe you're not and she's a scary hot spinster bog witch devoted to blowing things up and quipping. Maybe she's gonna quietly devote all her research to cross-universe travel, get back to her swamp, and marry Runar and make him the happiest guy on the First! Maybe she's dating someone entirely different aside from the three most obvious options based on her story arc. Maybe you just read that sentence and said "what the hell are you saying that these are the three most obvious options? OBVIOUSLY when she slapped Urianger's arse that time -"

And EVERY major character you interact with feels like they're written in some way to reflect some sort of chaste ideal hero/horny bastard/helplessly devoted to you and only you prism all at once, so you can spend all day tying strings together to connect people, or play through almost completely oblivious to just about anything except maybe being startled when Thancred implies Aymeric is in love with you and going "Huhh??" because you hadn't seen it until that point or assumed Aymeric and Lucia were a thing happening discreetly but hornily off screen, so why would they have him crushing on the WoL?

I am just really impressed with the writing balancing all those plates in the most careful way ever that somehow intentionally not committing to any romance except to quietly imply it around the edges or keep it to side characters you won't be spending much time with, ends up with this game with zillions of possible, plausible ships, none of which step on each other's toes, and all of which can be read completely ambiguously but none of it is annoying or exhausting or frustrating to deal with in game.

(I mean if Aymeric is going to stand me up at every available opportunity only for the cookbook to tell me we have dates every night, I can handle the fact that Estinien is busy standing him up at every available opportunity.)

2. STRANGE FACT ABOUT YOURSELF: I used to have weak eye muscles, so one of my eyes would move oddly from the other. A month before I was scheduled to go in for surgery to correct it, I got an NES...after weeks of playing with it, I had a pre-op checkup, and they discovered my muscles there had strengthened, and therefore didn’t need to have surgery.

3. TOP THREE PHYSICAL THINGS YOU FIND ATTRACTIVE ON A PERSON: I...usually don’t go for physical, first, but...eyes and smile, mostly? ^^;

4. A FOOD YOU COULD EAT FOREVER AND NOT GET BORED OF: I’m gonna agree with Cast’s answer and say Rice. Jasmine rice in particular, as it smells SO good when cooking, and doesn’t need much to taste good if made right. Heck I’m good just eating it cooked in chicken broth with a tiny bit of margarine. ^^;

5. A FOOD YOU HATE: Oysters. Cooked, they are WAY too fishy...raw, they’ve the consistency of snot. Also I got deathly ill eating a raw one before, so my answer may be a little biased by that. xD; Runner up would be spicy *anything*...I’m a wuss (well, that and my stomach has sensitivity issues from the previously mentioned oyster illness); And raw onions...they smell like someone’s bad B/O. :X

6. GUILTY PLEASURE: Mystery Science Theater 3000. I love seeing these horrible movies they make fun of. The 80′s ones are particularly cringy. xD;

7. WHAT DO YOU SLEEP IN: Knit pants, and a T-shirt usually. I also have a sleeveless nightgown for when it gets too hot for that.

8. SERIOUS RELATIONSHIPS OR FLINGS: I’ve never really been one for flings; if I’m with a person it’s usually long term.

Developers who devote considerable amount of attention to in-game food are total menaces for me, as a foodie. Doesn't matter if I literally just ate a large meal beforehand, I'll still want to look up the recipes and see if I can hypothetically make them with the ingredients from my usual grocer.

Yes, this is related to a Final Fantasy 15 replay. Square Enix should start commissioning licensed cookbooks. Between this game and 14, surely there's enough material for them? Although the fanmade one I found online is worthwhile too. But yeah, kinda funny they passed up this genius merchandising opportunity.

Bc seriously, this game's writing is flawed as all hell (soooo many wasted interesting characters and so many of them are ladies) but it's such a weird inspiration in this regard.

Anyways, yeah, Ignis was my fave character at 16 bc designated cooks are always my fave characters. And still is a fave like 6-7 years later. Wow, I feel old and now remember that I wear even stronger prescription lenses than back then lol
