Sixteen injuries were reported; one had a heart attack, another suffered a major injury, and fourteen others with minor injuries. 2018 – Thirty-nine people are killed after a ten-story building collapses in the industrial city of Magnitogorsk, Russia. 2019 – The World Health Organization is informed of cases of pneumonia with an unknown cause, detected in Wuhan. This later turned out to be COVID-19, the cause of the COVID-19 pandemic.

U.S. space agency plans to deploy 172 satellites to track hypersonic weapons

The U.S. Space Development Agency (SDA) is planning to deploy 144 transport layer satellites and 28 tracking satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO) by 2024 to detect maneuverable hypersonic vehicles during flight.

Speaking today at the Mitchell Institute for Aerospace Studies' Schriever Spacepower Forum, Derek Tournear said that satellites in LEO will form the tracking layer that will be able to detect hypersonic threats by their heat signatures, eventually on a global scale.

Satellites in LEO can detect these weak heat signatures better than satellites in higher orbits, he added. In addition, if there are several satellites doing the tracking, obtaining a geometric correction in a hypersonic threat is much more accurate.

The next step that would occur in near real time is that the satellite transport layer would move the data from the tracking satellites to the shooter for a fire control solution in the Joint Command and Control of All Domains, Tournear said.

L3Harris, which won contracts from the Missile Defense Agency and the Space Development Agency last year to produce missile tracking satellites, describes a "threat elimination chain" in this graph.

These tracking satellites will communicate directly with the transport satellites through laser optical crosslinks, which can quickly move large amounts of data.

By September 2024, plans are for 144 satellites of the transport layer to begin to be launched; this will result in initial combat capacity, forming a mesh network, he said.

In 2024 or 2025, 28 tracking layer satellites will be launched, resulting in global coverage, he added.

The SDA is working on two-year cycles to leverage the spiral development of new technologies and launch additional satellites in tranches in this period going forward, he said.

The commercial sector allowed the growth of this military capacity as satellite prices and rocket launches plummeted and technology improved dramatically, he said.

Northrop Grumman's concept art shows a potential architecture for defense against hypersonic missiles.

Addressing concerns about space overcrowding with satellites, Tournear said that space is large, and the higher it rises in Earth's low orbit, the more space there is.

Currently, there is a lot of satellite congestion in the area 400 to 600 kilometers above Earth, he said. The SDA is looking to put its satellites in the range of 1,000 to 1,200 kilometers.

The goal of placing a large number of small satellites in space, he said, is to create redundancy in case an opponent tries to eliminate them with anti-satellite weapons. It would be much more difficult to disable the network.

The SDA, established in March 2019, will make the complete transition to the Space Force in October 2022, Tournear noted.

A day like today 20 years ago the first novel of our beloved series was published in November 2000. This is an incredible anniversary and that’s why we’ll celebrate the whole month with events!

About The Violet Flame

The violet flame (also called the violet fire) is a unique spiritual energy that can help you in all areas of your life. It can heal emotional and physical problems, improve your relationships, help you to grow spiritually, or just make life easier.

The flame is the essence of a unique spiritual light. Mystics of all ages have glimpsed a spiritual spectrum behind the physical spectrum. Radiant colours, more pure and rare than those found on earth, emanate from a brilliant, inner divine light. Just as a ray of sunlight passing through a prism refracts into seven colours, spiritual light splits into seven colours, or rays – each of which has specific divine qualities. The violet flame comes forth from the violet ray, which has the qualities of mercy, forgiveness, freedom and transmutation.

The colour violet has long been associated with spirituality. Having the highest frequency in the visible spectrum, violet is at the point of transition to the next octave of light. To the ancients, this transcendental colour was a spiritual rather than a physical phenomenon.

Saints and adepts throughout the ages have known how to use the violet flame, but it was only released to the public earlier this century by an Ascended Master called Saint Germain. Ascended Masters are enlightened spiritual beings who once walked the earth like you and me. They balanced their karma (paid their debts to life) and fulfilled their reason for being. They then ascended, or reunited with God. You probably already know the names of a few Ascended Masters – Jesus Christ, Gautama Buddha and Krishna.

What the Violet Flame Does

Ever wish there was a way you could wipe out your past mistakes?

While you can’t go back in time, the violet flame has the power to erase, or transmute the cause, the effect, and even the memory of our past mistakes. Transmutation means to change – to alter in form, appearance or nature. The violet flame changes negative energy into positive energy, darkness into light, “fate” into opportunity. The flame also erases the resultant bad karma of our mistakes.

Our past actions – both good and bad – do come back to us. This is the law of karma. This impersonal cosmic law decrees that whatever we do comes full circle to our doorstep for resolution; simply, what goes around comes around.

In general, most people must pay their debt to life, or balance their karma, by selflessly reaching out and helping others, by working through misfortunes that come their way, or by passing through diseases or other forms of personal suffering. But it need not be so with the violet flame! The violet flame is able to transmute or mitigate our negative karma before it comes back to us.

On the physical level, the violet flame can help heal our bodies by removing the karma that makes us vulnerable to illness and disease. But the real cause of disease is often rooted in our mental, emotional and spiritual states.

Today, we are discovering more and more about how our thoughts and emotions can affect our health. Research has shown that hatred and other negative thoughts and feelings actually create excess amounts of acid in the body that it cannot assimilate. These negative thoughts and feelings often originate in emotional and psychological problems, which the violet flame can help to resolve. The scars of old hurts and painful memories may be healed and dissolved when the healing balm of the violet flame is applied.

How the Violet Flame Works

The violet flame works by changing “vibrations”. In physics, vibration is the speed of oscillation – the speed at which something moves back and forth. On the atomic level, vibration can be understood to be the speed at which electrons orbit around the nucleus of the atom. The violet flame works by changing vibrations on this level.

Atoms are mostly empty space. The empty space between the nucleus and the electrons is where negative energy and karma can become stuck. When the atoms in our bodies and auras become clogged with this negativity, the electrons whirl slower and slower, and we begin to resonate more with negativity, and less with light – we have a lower vibration, and become less spiritual.

The violet flame transmutes this negative energy. It does not simply surround and remove the energy, but transforms it into light. Because there is less density within the atom, the electrons whirl faster and faster, thereby raising your vibration.

When you have a higher vibration, there is more spiritual energy in your body. Acupuncturists and yogis know that optimum health comes when this spiritual energy flows freely throughout the body. The violet flame frees up this energy and re-establishes harmony and equilibrium, propelling you into a more spiritual state of being.

The Alchemist’s Dream

The violet flame is a tool of self-transformation. Physical experiments in alchemy whereby base metals are transformed into gold are symbolic of what the violet flame does.

In medieval times, alchemists attempted to transmute base metals into gold, using heat to separate the “subtle” from the “gross”. While there have always been alchemists who sought to create wealth by transmuting base metals, this process of transmutation is symbolic of a higher and more noble alchemy – the alchemy of self-transformation.

Alchemists of the Spirit did not seek physical wealth, but spiritual wealth. They sought to transform themselves into more spiritual beings, by becoming more loving, wise and compassionate. The violet flame has the capacity to bring about this transformation by transmuting negative elements within ourselves. It has the unique ability to transform fear into courage, anxiety into peace and hatred into love.

Alchemists of all ages have sought the mystical philosophers’ stone. Early alchemists pored over minutely ciphered texts in search of this stone. For them, it was worth a lifetime to decode the mystery of this “stone” which symbolised the transmutation of the lower animal nature into the highest and divine. The coveted philosophers’ stone – “the stone which is no stone” – was not physical, but spiritual, and created out of fire.

Some alchemists did discover the secret of the violet flame. According to Neoplatonist alchemists, the philosophers’ stone was a self-transforming fire that would lead their souls upward, by drawing up to the Spirit all qualities which dragged downward and opposed the spiritual essences. In the process, the “hard and refractory materials” in their bodies would be transmuted into a rare and more luminous material. In this sacred experiment, they said the alchemist would become “like the gods”, pursuing “the gold of the wise and not the vulgar metal”.

Transmutation, then, was not just a process which turned base metals into gold, but a spiritual process which raised the soul into a state of unity with the Divine.

How to Use the Violet Flame

It is often a good idea to call for spiritual protection before invoking the violet flame. Then find a place where you won’t be disturbed, and sit comfortably in a straight chair with your spine and head erect, legs and arms uncrossed and feet flat on the floor. Rest your hands on your upper legs, with palms facing upwards.

The violet flame is invoked through “decreeing” – a unique form of spoken prayer utilising visualisation and meditation. One of the simplest decrees to the violet flame is: “I AM a being of violet fire! I AM the purity God desires!” Take a few, slow deep breaths and centre in your heart. Start out slowly, giving the decree with love, devotion and feeling. Repeat the decree three or nine times to begin with; you can gradually increase this to 36, 72 or even 144 repetitions. Repeating the decree strengthens its power and draws down more light.

Once you are familiar with the decree, you can close your eyes while giving it and concentrate on visualising the violet flame. See yourself before a large bonfire, about nine feet high and six feet wide. Colour it violet in your imagination, and see the flames pulsating and undulating in endless shades of violet with gradations of purple and pink. Then see yourself stepping into the flame, so the violet flame is where you physically are. See your body as transparent, with the flames curling up from beneath your feet, passing through and around your body, clear up over your head.

Often the words of a violet flame decree invoke ideas for other violet flame visualisations – decreeing is meant to be fun so be creative and use your imagination!

To those who have developed their spiritual sight, the violet flame appears as a physical violet fire. You may also be able to “see” the violet flame at work with your inner eye, by concentrating on the spiritual centre between your eyebrows.

You can also use the violet flame to help family and friends. Just visualise the violet flame around them while you give the decree, and add a prayer before you start. The violet flame can also help others that you might not be aware of. After you have finished decreeing, you can ask: “In the name of the Christ within me, I ask that this violet flame be multiplied and used to assist all souls on this planet who are in need. I thank you and accept it done according to the will of God.”

Even a few minutes of violet flame will produce results, but persistence is needed to penetrate age-old habits you would like to change. You can start out with just a few minutes of violet flame in the morning to help you through the day, and you can add the violet flame to whatever prayers or meditations you currently practice.

Rev. Moon was first to have restored John the Baptist as in the position of Elijah; the position he left when he married; where I now stand: the bride; as his own Soul. Even he admitted that the soul of the Messenger stands surrogate for the Bride until he brings the Kingdom of the people to the Messiah, as that Bride of which David once said at his Coronation

“…Now this is flesh of my flesh; and bone of my bone“, when being given Dominion over the United Kingdom of Israel.

But the Rich Man cannot enter this kingdom; thus in the story of my Return there is a Party in the House; and Rev. Moon; as the elder brother; stands outside; and is angry; and will not come in.

Comet Holmes as the Morning Star orbited the Sun every 7 years; the cycle of Regeneration; where every cell in the human body was originally created to do; as every cell “new” being replaced every 7 years would give our lives almost infinite duration. But due to the Fall our Cycle of Regeneration begins to fail around the age of thirty; and we start to die.

But that is with the Old Sun. With a New, Living Sun; the Cycle Returns; what my Father Jesus called: “The Regeneration”.

Thus Internally I am the Bride in the Flesh, as the Lake of Fire; and the Holy Spirit is my Husband; Christ Jesus the Last. And Externally I am the Bridegroom; in the Spirit.

This is the Marriage Supper of the Lamb; in the which they eat; and become One Flesh; that is why the Bride as the Lake of Fire and the Bridegroom as the Sun of Righteousness become “Jehovah Our Righteousness“, as “one flesh”, called the Second Death. This is seen in Jeremiah…\

The Second Death as the Sun of Righteousness

As I, who was once Solomon, the Prodigal Son of David, had sold myself to the Devil; to become Apollo; the last of the gods; I became the leading influence on the 20th and 21st centuries as the ruling ‘sun god’ of Olympus: the of all Science.

As god of the sun I then was Icarus; who fell; to David, my father; who as Daedalus; never fell; as his heart was perfect before God.

Jonathan Gullery never passed the 144 pages onto Rev. Moon; so he never was told the strange news of the Visitation of the Angel and the Vow of the Child, who as Salvation Rose indeed rose, ‘up from the Street’; with the Key of David: revealed now as the Divine Principle embodied in the Cross of Christ the Lamb died on and thus died ‘for‘.

That the Lamb died for a Principle he considered more important than his own life is strangely unknown to most; yet it is then self-evident to all of the Spirit that it was by this same Divine Principle that he was then brought back to life; and now the unknown must became known that my Father rose with his bones intact and in the flesh with a new face; as Mercy cannot be killed; nor True Love ever die…but the face that John and Peter and James saw my Father Jesus’s change to on the Mount of Transfiguration ( that is called Mount Sion ) was that one he came out of the Tomb with after his body’s Resurrection; but his face at it’s Regeneration; the face of David; for the baptism of the Messiah the Prince Jesus to his death in the Jordan was the Resurrection unto life for David the King of Kings in that spiritual Euphrates; who then walked in the Kingdom, as Adam did in Paradise.

This is the untold story of why Mary Magdelene did not recognize him when she first saw him; seeing him by the Tomb at first he looked so different to her who had known him for years that she thought it was the gardener…..and this is why the Apostle’s had such a hard time with my Father Jesus in that 40 Days he walked with them before he returned from the Mount of Olives; his body was that of Jesus, wounds with the scars and all; but the face was now that of David.

How do I say these things?

I am rise first from the death in Christ as that one reborn: as Solomon, the Prodigal Son of David returned from the Dead; having risen first at the Resurrection of the Just in my Death in Christ: October 24th, 2007, as the Child of the Resurrection formerly called Christopher Witt Diamant; the black sheep of the House of David; formerly also known as: the Preacher.

Moon ignoring the 430 years of slavery for the Red and especially the Black Race in the West from 1492 / 1500 ( when Columbus returned wit the Armada is when the genocide actually “began”), thus Moon seems to have had a certain jealousy seen revealed toward Dr. King’s Nobel Peace Prize in 1964, and Rev. Moon was of those Koreans who wanted to reach the status of our “third Israel” by “walking over” the bodies of those who died, the Black Christian Race, and the White Youth who joined Dr. King; marching with them, thus setting up the Foundation of Salvation here in the US, as the Third Israel.

That Rev. Moon never walked with Servant King or listened to the Voice of Prince Aaron with real understanding shows how far he was from the heart of the Providence revealed by God in the US as the uniting of the 2 races was to become the pattern by which every race and people and tongue on earth were to be Unified on the substantial Foundation of Salvation set up after the 430 years and the 3 Days Separation......... seen at Beth-El/Woodstock...... at the Internal Exodus having begun for the Internal Course; Israel walking the External Course seen in the 6 Days War against Egypt militarily or 144 hours in 1967 when San Francisco became New Mecca as our New Jerusalem, at the Pilgrimage at 1967’s Summer of Love against Egypt spiritually; which happened when Israel broke the yoke of Mecca off the shoulder of Jerusalem.

The City of St. Francis immediately became Mecca instead; showing the Times of the Gentiles had arrived.

With the election of Barack Hussein Obama it was seen the Third Israel had successfully “taken Egypt from within” in the Restoration at the Global level; which should have been a cause for univeral celebration by Rev. Moon and the Unification Church: but all we heard was a stunned silence: which still speaks volumes about their real designs on the kingdom and their motives and ways of trying to Steal what belonged to someone else; namely Barack in the position of our David at the Global level.

Rev. Moon did realize the 430 period at the End; but he did this by choosing the year 1517 instead of the 1492 when Christopher rediscovered the New World; yet 1517 is pretty close; since 430 years after 1517 and the Reformation of Martin Luther we did get Martin Luther King at age 18 in 1947 when Israel was regathered.

But strangely he never saw the relation of 1517 and the 400 years plus the 30 which brought us from Martin Luther at Wittenberg to Martin Luther King as our Moses in the Internal Restoration: yet that sign was set up so even he couldn’t miss it: but he stubbornly ignored it…..

And it must be seen as true that 400 years after 1517 we have 1917; when the 3 Children of Fatimah and the Sun of Mary of Fatimah were “the Signs and wonders” for the start of the Providence: in the Third Course of Restoration into Canaan on the Global Level; and 1917 when the False Prophet Karl Marx and his “magnified image” of Marxism took over Russia; seen in the fact that 70 years later the Wall fell. It fell at Reagan's speech in 1987;

……..spiritually; of course. 1,000 years after 987 when Russia first converted. _______________________________________________________________

The beast out of the earth in Revelation is, of course, Karl Marx the False Prophet; having the two horns of Socialism and Communisn and “speaking as a dragon” the doctrine of Atheism; just as the Axis was the beast from the sea of time where Daniel saw the 3 go in at Daniel 7:12; they came out in 1935 as “one” when the Angel of Christ was talking to Sun Myung Moon on 4-18-1935 on that Korean hillside.: 4-18; our time; when Sister Princess Faustina was praying…in Poland. Our Apostle of Mercy.

That the Wall of Babylon fell after the 930 years from 987 when Russia was converted to 1917 when it was taken over by the False Prophet is unknown. Yet when Russia was converted in 987 it was the “number” of 930 years after this date that shows Russia as having “died the death of Adam” who also died at the age of 930 years of age.

Here it was John of Patmos who did indeed show that the 70 years after 1917: 930 years after it converted was that which completed the “1,000 years” as after which the “devil” was then loosed for his last short season on earth. The 930 years represented the “death of Adam” at the Global level in 1917; just as in The City of Fatima at Portugal in 1917 was the “Rebirth of the Second Adam”, at the Global level, when the Sun of Righteousness came down upon the earth. That was the lamb AT THE Cosmic Level as the bridegroom of Maryam al Kubra: the Greater Mary of Fatima: the bride. _____________________________________________________________

Furthermore it was with the 70 years of Russia’s Babylonian Captivity in the East that came to an end along with the 430 years in the West of the Red Races Slavery; the 430 years in the South for the Black Christian Races slavery; and the 210 years of Suffering of the White Christian race in the North in it’s battle to end Slavery and it’s attendant racism; the dark shadow of Egypt upon the land.

________________________________________________ This Pattern of Fate in it’s relationship to the Design of Providence can be clearly seen, after the Global Wall of Seperation that was centered in the National Wall of Jericho in the Foundation of “the 1,000 year Reich” and the Gates of Hell as those of the deaths of the Kaiser as the “eldest son” and Hitler as the “youngest” who died there were destroyed.

There is little doubt that the Kaiser and Hitler represented the eldest and youngest sons mentioned in the Curse of Jericho by Joshua that fell upon Germany’s Capital for the Kingdom of Satan that set Germany and Italy and Japan as the Beast of the Axis on the Global Level that John describes coming out of the Sea of Time at chapter 13.

This Jericho was magnified to the Global Wall of Babylon by Stalin who had set up Berlin at the Blockade and afterwards as the Iron Curtain between “east and west” that substantially embodied the Euphrates as the “barrier” between “east and west” that had been of Old as that keeping Man out of Paradise; or in this case; a unified world under Christ.

Because of the Song of the Lamb that I copywrote in the Library of Congress here in America I alone have title to this ‘Song of the Lamb’ seen in the Revelation; but the music that Hyo Jin Moon was to have written could not be done without the state of Virginity being recaptured as the restoration of the son of Adam able to hear the Voice of God; which is Gabriel; the messenger of Michael.

This is what my Father Jesus made sure I did when I took that Vow; and kept it in New Hope after that 21 year course of Jacob in which I restored the entire Foundation of Faith; the Foundation of Substance; and then set up with the Word of God the Foundation to Receive the Messiah; as Maitreya in the position of the White Horse as the Lord of the Second Advent.

And this is now at last getting plainer to see for all; minute by minute; for Rev. Moon is now going to take the Fall: entirely, in the position of the body of Lucifer.

Oh…and the error of the Unification Church about the “7 Seals” is as follows:

The 7 Seals are NOT about the 7 levels of the Providence of Restoration….Rev. Moon evidently confused that with the “7 Sealed Thunders” which my servant John was told to “write not”…as this was Rev. Moon’s POR to reveal…and he did….citing the “7 failures” in each of the 7 levels of the Providence, beginning with the first sealed thunder of the DP unsealed at Adam,…and then later saying my Father Jesus was the 6th failure…in the 6th sealed thunder, whose voice is seen and heard unsealed in the DP…but the 7th failure, at the Cosmic or Universal level of “heaven and earth”, which comprises the Kingdom: is Moon’s own failure…Normally Lucifer could then claim Victory; and say he had beaten God, and now owned the entire Creation: by right of combat.

But I ruined that particular strategy: as the arrival in 1986 of my servant John, from my Father Jesus, and the Vow I made that day, and then 21 years later when my Sacrifice was accepted, was the Providential Cause and reason, of thus restoring the fall of Rev. Moon in the position of the dead body of John the Baptist…which it was…when alive, itself.

Rev. Moon, like John, had lost his “head”, just as John had also “lost” his head: and long before it was removed from his body….

…..But I restored that, with my Sacrifice accepted on the Altar of God and the Lamb…in my 21 year course of Jacob to restore Moon’s leaving his position……with the Vow of Eternal Chastity which culminated in my death in Christ, October 24th, 2007, 21 years after I made my vow, and came to New Hope in 1986…The 7 Seals are actually 7 Decades, starting in 1910, at the first seal, 1920, at the second seal, and so on, all the way to the 7th seal in 1970. The trumpets go off every 7th year in the Seals, the first trumpet in 1917, the second in 1927, the third in 1937…all the way to 1977…when our Aaron, Aaron Presley, died, in Memphis, at the age of 42, as also where our Moses., Dr. King also died…in the only city in America named after the Capital of ancient Egypt, where met the “Seal” as the “City of Destruction” as of the Two Kingdoms of Upper and Lower Egypt,,,where the two Witnesses died…”Elvis” was the “golden calf” himself…of course…the Golden Idol of Hollywood Babylon….was his “Gold Cadillac” which people used to pay five dollars just to see and touch when he sent it out “on tour”….

What a Hell of a Shame!

But the term “Hell-bent: has the very meaning of what is now seen by those who finally left the Unification Church amid grave doubts about Rev. Moon’s adulterous affairs that he claims his wife agrees were part of the Providence of God.

SpaceX's Next Launch Will Spark a Space Internet Showdown

Elon Musk has long promised a constellation of thousands of satellites, called Starlink, which Musk hopes will one day handle half of all online traffic--and earn him billions in access charges. It's one of those ways he expects to fund his future Mars adventures. SpaceX says two demonstration satellites it constructed and launched earlier this year already show that internet from a distance is often as fast and lag-free as people expect from cables on Earth.

Now a SpaceX rocket is poised to establish a raft of net satellites by a host of startups--but this time, the target audience is machines.

In a historic launch slated for Wednesday, SpaceX will hoist 64 satellites at the same time, the largest number for a single mission on US land. Eight of the spacecraft on board that a Falcon 9 out of Vandenberg Air Force Base will be from companies hoping to build a truly international Internet of Things (IoT) by revolutionizing satellite communications.

Nearly all of today's IoT devices, such as smart meters and agricultural sensors, rely upon Wi-Fi or mobile signals, leaving remote places, farms, and vast expanses of the world's oceans without connectivity.

If shippers wish to monitor assets at sea, farmers want To check on the health of their crops, or governments seek to monitor hazardous bridges today, they must deploy powerful devices connecting to conventional satellite communications providers like Iridium, Globalstar and Inmarsat. These systems may be costly and power-hungry, restricting their adoption to people with the deepest pockets. An oil company may track several moves of a pipeline for flows, as an example, but an environmental watchdog could not afford its own detectors. With cheap, low-power IoT systems such as that launch soon, that may all change.

Astrocast's Satellite is a little CubeSat just 30 centimeters long. Its rivals on the SSO-A SmallSat Express, since the launch has been predicted, range from 10 to 60 centimeters in length--a fraction of the size, weight and cost of communications giants already in orbit. These CubeSats are not powerful enough to take care of gaming flows, video or perhaps voice calls. They're designed instead for the tiny bursts of information that technology, infrastructure and asset-tracking IoT devices produce.

Another Beaming one package of 144 bytes, on the size of a text message to Hiber's satellite every day for a year will cost only a couple of bucks, according to Hiber CEO Maarten Engelen. "That's more than sufficient [data] for the 90 per cent of IoT customers that we talk to," he states.

Five of The six start-ups are launching only 1 satellite SSO-A, with just Swarm Technologies placing three on board. (The Silicon Valley company is presently awaiting punishment against the Federal Communications Commission for launching four satellites on an Indian aircraft in January without consent.)

Most of the start-ups have been Latency the time to get a signal to have a response over the internet, and is usually quantified by gamers in milliseconds. Longer latencies do not matter for IoT because detectors generally only need to call home once a day.

Spaceflight has assembled two car-sized spacecraft, known as the Upper Free Flyer and the Lower Free Flyer, which will fire the satellites in their final orbits one after another, using spring-loaded systems similar to pinball plungers. After all of the satellites are out of the way, the Flyers will each deploy an innovative sail the size of 2 pool tables to capture faint wisps of air and drag them down to burn. This will be the first time drag sail technology is utilized on an operational assignment.

Nearly As important as physical separation is ensuring that the IoT satellites don't interfere with one another's radio broadcasts. Swarm and Hiber intend to utilize the same frequency (148-149.9 MHz) for Earth-to-space communications using their satellites. Hiber will only use the link while passing over its European ground stations, while Swarm has to use the frequency across the US. This could prove tricky if the company choose to deploy ground stations abroad in the long run.

The Real challenge for the IoT start-ups will be to build out their fleets rapidly, then to persuade organizations to integrate their technology into thousands and ultimately millions of apparatus back on Earth. "We do not know whether this is a winner-takes-all market," admits Engelen. "I think there is space for different technical solutions based on different requirements. However, that doesn't imply that each of these systems will endure. That is probably not also very feasible."

The time SSO-A's CubeSats naturally re-enter the air as tiny Shooting stars in seven years or so, a few of the businesses which constructed Them will likely be only memories, also.

From Sky to Space: John Young, the Astronaut’s Astronaut

When you think of great human achievements, you may think of the Pyramids and other human-built wonders of the world, or of Einstein’s General Relativity theory and other complex products of pure intellect, but you must not omit the moon landings. In fact, landing on the Moon was – in my opinion – by far the greatest triumph humankind ever accomplished. It required an unprecedented amount of organisation and perseverance in order to bring to life, in an extremely limited and troublesome timeframe, the dreams and wonders of every human to touch that little grey ball in the night sky.

To set foot on the Moon, you need a bunch of people – some scientists, some directors and other administrators, some politicians, a ton of engineers, but mainly, you need precisely that: a foot. A lot of people volunteered their foot, but in the end, only 24 feet were chosen, and they were those of (in order of walking on the Moon): Neil Armstrong, Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin, Pete Conrad, Alan Bean, Alan Shepard, Edgar Mitchell, Dave R. Scott, James Irwin, John Young, Charles Duke, Jack Schmitt and Gene Cernan. Out of those 12 men, only four still live today (Aldrin, Scott, Duke & Schmitt); a couple of months ago, seven were still walking among us.

When Eugene Cernan passed on January 16, 2017, I thought I’d write a piece about his life (http://espritdecorps.ca/from-sky-to-space/from-sky-to-space-a-period-of-mourning?rq=gene%20cernan); he was, and still is, one of my favorite astronauts. And when I heard the passing of John Young on January 5, 2018, I thought I couldn’t go on without at least addressing his career. But before doing so, let me honorably mention Alan Bean, fourth man on the Moon, who died on May 26, 2018, at age 86. An artist who depicted his out-of-this-world experiences through paintings, Al Bean will be remembered as a humane, down-to-earth astronaut. Now, here is a too brief account of the life of another of my favorite astronauts, John Young.

John W. Young (1930 – 2018)

There is always that one guy who never wants to be in the spotlight no matter how successful he is; just like an uncomplaining dark horse, riding along the toughest roads known to men, and doing it without complaint. John Young was that kind of guy, possessing enough skills and working hard enough to be arrogant, but never being so.

Young was born in San Francisco on September 24, 1930, although his family and him quickly moved to Cartersville, Georgia, before moving again to Orlando, Florida. He always described himself as an “old country boy from the south”. His inherent passion for aviation became evident at an early age, as one of his pastimes was to build model airplanes. He then went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, before entering the U.S. Navy through the ROTC program in 1952.

In 1954, he earned his aviator wings to fly F9F Cougar jets for VFA-103, the famous Jolly Rogers squadron. Four years later, Young became a part of the United States Naval Test Pilot School Class 23 where he set two time-to-climb records with the F-4F Phantom II, climbing 9,843 & 82,021 feet in respectively 34.52 & 227.7 seconds. He was in fact a very skilled pilot. As fellow astronaut and former NASA administrator from 2009 – 2017 Charles Bolden recalled, Young and Robert ‘Hoot’ Gibson were the two best pilot he ever met: “Never met two people like them. Everyone else gets into an airplane; John and Hoot wear the airplane. They’re just awesome.”

Later in 1962, Young was selected alongside Neil Armstrong among the ‘New Nine’ group of astronauts, three years after the original Mercury Seven. In preparation for an eventual spaceflight in the Gemini program, Young and his fellow colleagues trained 16 hours a day, doing exercises ranging from land & water survival to mental & physical fitness. During those harsh days of training, he started to gain the reputation of the modest, hard-working man who seems to make all the tough jobs effortless.

In 1965, he finally flew in space for the first time on Gemini 3, the first manned Gemini mission, with his friend Gus Grissom, who later died on Apollo 1 during a capsule fire on the launch pad in 1967.

Gemini 3 is a classic mission in the history of space exploration; a lot of things happened. Although the mission was a near-textbook one on technical terms – in Young’s words: “Gemini 3 was truly an excellent engineering test flight of the vehicle” – it had a minor incident concerning a … corned beef sandwich. Unsatisfied with the food served in space, Young decided to smuggle a corned beef sandwich in his suit, without warning anyone until he actually started to eat it in orbit. Unlike NASA and people on the ground – who were heavily concerned that the crumbs of the sandwich could mess with the electronics on board – Grissom thought that it was quite a joke, taking a few bites himself: “John’s deadpan offer of this strictly non-regulation goodie remains one of the highlights of our flight for me.”

Gemini 3 was the mission that gave John Young his name. Flying in space was not common in those days – Gemini 3 was only the seventh manned US spaceflight – so astronauts, upon their arrival on Earth, had a traditional welcome parade in the streets of New York and held public appearances with the President. Passing from a southern introvert to a superstar in days was a radical transformation – one that Young wasn’t prepared for. But still, he clung to his reputation of the least emotional man on Earth by showing no signs of fear, and by seeming everything but unprepared.

Soon, the glamorous days were over and Young had to get back to training. He was preparing for another spaceflight, and doing so by logging countless hours in T-38 Talon jets (each astronaut was given one for personal use). It was said that flying the T-38 wasn’t ‘risky’ enough for the astronauts, that they thought it wasn’t ‘spaceflight-like’ enough (a T-38 wasn’t nerve-racking as much as a small capsule on top of a missile). So, the legend says that Young invented a challenge that later became a matter of honour for these spacefaring men: flying the T-38 on an near-empty fuel tank. Today, this practice would be prohibited, but it still shines light on the character that was John Young: a fearless man who always wanted more – the definition of living life at its fullest!

A bit more than a year after his first spaceflight – in July 1966 – Young was to leave humanity’s cradle for a second time; this time, as commander of the Gemini 10 mission with fellow astronaut Michael Collins. Gemini 10 had a tough mission plan: they had to rendezvous and dock with an Agena booster in low-earth orbit, then use this booster to climb temporarily to almost 800 km of altitude, then drop the booster and meet with a second one (left in space during the Gemini 8 mission), and then wrap up and come home. This mission was set in order to test three critical objectives needed to eventually land on the Moon: rendezvous, docking & EVA (extra-vehicular activity – spacewalk). Note that the difference between rendezvous and docking in space is that the latter necessarily implies that two spacecraft physically connect to each other, while the former only means that the two spacecrafts meet at a reasonable distance from each other (usually around 15 meters). As the mission comprised some of the trickiest maneuvers ever attempted, Young’s wife didn’t want him to go. In a typical John Young manner, he apparently replied: “It’s my job.”

Even though the second rendezvous with the Agena booster at 800 km of altitude was completed without electronics, or, in Young’s words, completed “by eyeball, the kind of old technique that you would use in pre-World War I days”, the mission was a success.

But now, the Gemini days were over – it was time for what all those years of preparation were all about: the moon landings, or the Apollo era.

Two months before Apollo 11’s mission in July 1969 – the historic one when Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin first wandered on the Moon – John Young, Gene Cernan and Thomas Stafford flew on Apollo 10 on what was to be a “dress rehearsal” for the first moon landing. As Young piloted the Command Module in orbit around the Moon, Cernan and Stafford flew the Lunar Module to about 15 km off the lunar surface – the point where the powered descent would begin on the actual moon landing. Gene Cernan once told journalists that NASA intentionally cut in the Lunar Module fuel tank in order to prevent the crew from actually landing on the surface; had they not, Neil Armstrong probably wouldn’t be as popular.

In 1972, John Young had his fourth and most prominent spaceflight: he commanded the fifth moon landing, Apollo 16. Along with Lunar Module pilot Charlie Duke, Young spent 20 hours on the surface on the Moon, driving the Lunar Rover for about 30 km and collecting 211 pounds of lunar rocks and thus becoming the ninth person to walk on the Moon. While Young and Duke where collecting rocks and raising dust on the surface, Command Module pilot Ken Mattingly was orbiting above, performing observations of the surface of the Moon.

As mentioned, John Young was one of the calmest and most fearless astronauts. Those characteristics were heavily displayed while he was sitting inside the capsule on top of the gigantic Saturn V rocket right before Apollo 16’s liftoff: “I found out from the flight surgeon later on that my heartbeat was 144 at liftoff,” said Charlie Duke. “John’s was 70.” In his 2012 autobiography Forever Young: A Life of Adventure in Air and Space, John Young wrote that he “was either calmer than I thought I was or, as I later noted in the space shuttle, I was too old for my heart to go any faster.”

Later in 1972, Apollo 17 became humanity’s last manned mission to the Moon. NASA’s focus shifted from the Moon to Low Earth Orbit, passing from the big and mighty Saturn V rocket to the smaller, reusable Space Shuttle. The thing with the Shuttle was that it had to be landed like an airplane. That meant that NASA couldn’t fly an unmanned mission first to test it – usually, NASA would fly the rocket alone a couple of times before putting astronauts in it. So, for that kind of first mission, you needed a calm, experienced and skilled astronaut to fly and land the Shuttle. And you guessed it, John Young, who now was NASA’s Chief of the Astronaut Office since 1974, was chosen to command the first shuttle mission, known as STS-1, in 1981.

Later on, the Shuttle went on to carry seven astronauts at a time, but in a hazardous mission like this, NASA thought risking only two lives was more than enough. Even Mission Control couldn’t do much more than to wish Young and Crippen plain luck: “John, we can’t do more from the launch team than say, we wish you an awful lot of luck. We are with you one thousand percent and we are awful proud to have been a part of it. Good luck gentlemen.”

Mission Control’s wish was fulfilled, as John Young landed Space Shuttle Columbia in what was Crippen’s “softest landing [he’s] been into”.

Young made his sixth and final spaceflight in 1983 as commander of STS-9, a mission that carried Spacelab’s first module to space. He was assigned to fly on STS-61-J and to make a record seventh spaceflight, but the Challenger disaster in 1986 delayed launch schedule.

Young worked for NASA until he took his retirement in 2004, thus becoming the longest-serving astronaut ever.

He passed from complications of pneumonia on January 5, 2018, at the age of 87. His life of conquering both sky and space and of never-ending service to NASA demonstrates his genuine spacefarer character, while his modesty and perseverance show the gentleman he truly was. A cold-blooded pilot like no other, the uncomplaining dark horse will be remembered, although his desire to never be in the spotlight contributed to his fame not being proportionate to his skills.

Sixteen injuries were reported; one had a heart attack, another suffered a major injury, and fourteen others with minor injuries. 2018 – Thirty-nine people are killed after a ten-story building collapses in the industrial city of Magnitogorsk, Russia. 2019 – The World Health Organization is informed of cases of pneumonia with an unknown cause, detected in Wuhan. This later turned out to be COVID-19, the cause of the COVID-19 pandemic.
