I enjoy the Histories in BREAK!! being a mix of lifestyles. The last edition of D&D is probably the game most people have played that involved some kind of history/background mechanic, although I think we can all name some games where that's a much bigger factor. I think something that got missed in the way people treated those was that the initial PHB offerings were effectively all reasons one might travel. Even the Hermit: they lived a secluded live, discovered some secret or insight, and are out in the world now spreading that around. Over time this remained mostly true even if the became more tied to specific careers and experiences, a mix of superhero origin story and CV. In a world where you're constantly beset by giant beasts, ghoulies, magic monsters etc, the average NPC leads their life in one place.... content with their lot and awaiting a wandering party to fix their problems. When the world is wild, civilization is small. BREAK!!, on the other hand, is not terribly wild at all. There are places OF wildness, and places where time has gouged deep wounds into the world, but the world is largely known and "mapped" such that there are few places to leave blank for "here be dragons." Indeed, BREAK!!'s map indicates explicitly where there WERE dragons... What great nations and city-states exist do so with something approaching a modern awareness of one another that recalls at least the European colonial era if not late Victorian explorer accounts. Folks in Berry Town may have heard that the junkers of Stahlfield eat babies but they know where they are and what their overall deal is apart from those rumors, at least. One scholar of ancient culture I read in college had a definition of civilization as the point where a shared language is adopted, and since Low Speech is baked into the Outer World and spoken by all sapient things one could argue for BREAK!! being among the most civilized and connected fantasy settings on the market....

The Histories on offer do have some typical genre conventions (e.g. Knight Errant, Street Rat) but they're typically very specific and very tied to the demands and expectations of their associated regions. Some denote training, some denote upbringing, and some denote circumstances, but whereas I think a lot of D&D5's Background were designed from the perspective of "Why have you found yourself on the road in an adventuring party?" as if being "an adventurer" is something you can just fall into, BREAK!!'s Histories seem more designed around what your character would be doing if they weren't ON AN ADVENTURE. Tom Hanks used to be a teacher in Saving Private Ryan and that does inform his character and his behavior when you know that, but it's wildly different from how everyone in his command pictures him. He's on an adventure because of a convergence of unique circumstances, some of which arose our of necessity and some of which seem almost contrived against him. He's going to go back there some day, just like Gonzo the Great. There are others in his company who feel differently, who can't wait to leave their old life behind and use the money and experience from their military service as a launchpad into something new, something better than the circumstances they left behind.

That's because the Histories in BREAK!! represent a choice. There are some folks bopping around doing good deeds because it's what they've run towards, and there are others for whom these wonders and horrors are only something to run THROUGH. Sometimes the choices are easier than others: someone devoted to "vanquishing all evil" after a life of pious service will find being a vagabond savior a smooth, imperceptible transition. A merchant or craftsman might easily find opportunities to ply their trade during travels, or might commit to this new way of life precisely because of the opportunities it affords them for when they elect to walk away. That's life, though: depending upon our circumstances and resources, some lifestyles might make some choices easier or much much harder depending on the person.

But it is a choice. That's why they're Histories and not Backgrounds. Do you long for the Shire and wish you'd never left, or do you embrace the riches and spectacle that you've found walking man's road: your past or your present? Known or unknown? You have to reconcile it somehow to have any future worth speaking about at all.

What hobbies does Cam have/does he play any instruments?

I think I can answer both of these at once! Brooks is actually the musical sibling (he can play a bit of guitar), whereas Cam always had the more logic/science brain of the two. He has two main hobbies. One of them is cooking- he had to learn to make food pretty fast when he became Brooks's main caregiver at 16, and he ended up enjoying it so much he doubled down and now he's a very accomplished home cook. His cooking is one of the big things that made Kayla decide to stick it out with him long term, too.

His other hobby is making paracord bracelets and keyrings. It started when he was in elementary school, making boondoggles all the time. He go himself the nickname "Boondoggle" in middle school because he had like twenty of them on his backpack and sometimes sold them on the playground if he wanted a little extra change. He gave up on the brightly colored plastic after a while, though, and it wasn't until several years later when he started seeing woven paracord bracelets and keyrings all over the place that he got nostalgic and decided to apply his old skills there instead.

His fiance is also teaches pottery classes for her day job, so he's been to a few of them. He's very bad at it but still had fun (and not just because he got to see his hot buff girlfriend in a tank top covered in clay, he swears).

Tell us three random facts about Cam:

He fights with a hand-and-a-half sword and sometimes a buckler, though he'll put the buckler away to use both hands on the sword if neccesary. His fighting style is based more around agility and adaptability, so he sticks to leather armour (unlike Kayla who is a fucking BEAST).

His day job is in computer repairs. He didn't have a lot of prospects, having to drop out of school at 16, but he taught himsef how to fix computers using online tutorials and was so good at it he showed up for a job interview with a poorly put together CV and no prior experience and got the position. He still works at that store. As the manager.

He's a giant nerd. He loves Lord of the Rings and The Legend of Zelda and he won't admit it to most people but his favourite TV show is still the original He-Man cartoon. There is a reason this guy jumped at the mere mention of being able to join an order of knights.

But CV is smart and put him in shackles, so he won’t lose him from his sight, and he drags him along everywhere. SM is now helpless. The other Beasts managed to get the Heroes out, but not the Soul Jams and now they have to work together and come up with something new, while SMilk has to be constantly reminded of his past and questions wether or not Vanilla cares about him.

Short story : love beyond hate

One morning Arya woke up from the vibrating sound of her cell phone in a haste she answered the call with a sleepy voice she said hello...

Her friend vani screamed at her from the other side and said 'sleeping beauty you need to run today you have to meet vicky at 10 o'clock at cafe green chillies and you have only one hour to get ready and be there on time he hates those who do not value time be there sharp at 10 am otherwise forget about the job and also about our trip to Maldives .

Arya jumped out of the bed and rushed into the washroom to take shower and get ready after 15 minutes she is looking gorgeous in her black chequered jumpsuit and matching black pumps she checked herself in the mirror and fixed her mascara and lipstick and took her handbag and cross checked the CV and documents for the job of personal assistant as she left for the meeting.

Arya is going to this guy for a casual job interview as he was busy during the weekdays and her friend vani forced his cousin to appoint her bestie as his pa for few months so she can travel to Maldives as her savings are not enough and he agreed to give Arya a fair chance as she is doing mba and her grades are good enough to get her even a better catch but due to pandemic getting a job was real hard for freshers.

Arya managed to reach at the cafe on time but her stars are not in her favour and at the entrance of the cafe she bumped into a guy with muscular body in a clumsy act and her handbag got empty on the floor with everything lying here and there she started shouting at the man and even called him blind beast without looking at him he offered help in picking her stuff but she chose to do it by herself and the guy in anger went inside for the meeting as planned.

Arya after picking her file and things went inside and asked the front desk about her reservation for a table for two and the girl with a polite voice told her that the table is occupied and one of the person is already waiting for her learning this she thanked her and went to her table when she reached near table her face turned pale as vicky was the same person he argued with and in a dull voice she said::" Hey I'm Arya Vaani's friend he made a gesture for her to sit down and she sit with pale face faking a smile.

Vicky asked her show me your CV and documents Arya handed her file. After going through her file with a stubborn look vicky told her well miss your grades are excellent so I am considering you for this job but keep in mind I won't tolerate rudeness and clumsiness come to my home in morning at 7 and my breakfast is also your duty at 8 o clock and at 9 am we have a video conference. She nodded her head and said thank you Vicky. He corrected her Mr vibrant Singh. Before she could say anything further he left with cold expressions and Arya waved for waiter and ordered cuppachino and sandwiches as she was hungry as hell and the first meeting with new Boss is like a blunder which ruined her day.

Next morning she reached at her job on time and saw the beautiful mansion and went inside through the main door and there was a huge living room decorated lavishly in vintage manner with leather couches and teakwood furniture. There she saw a maid dressed in a formal attire she was a middle aged lady she said Miss Arya the kitchen is in the end of corridor at right and you will find the list of breakfast menu at the coffee table you can have anything you want for yourself. I'm Neera the governess of Mr Singh's baby boy I'm here to tell u about your duties be quick and she left .

Arya went in the kitchen it was all modern with all kinds of appliances she found the list and made an omlete with toast and a coffee and she made chocolate waffles for herself she checked her watch and it is 8 so she took the breakfast at the table and vibrant was there sitting in a blue formal suit Arya wished him morning and served breakfast and went in the kitchen there was little boy of around 3 trying to reach the kitchen counter for chocolate waffles Arya smiled and pulled him he picked waffles and smiled at her. She made him sit on the coffee table and asked How are waffles he said tasty with a cute smile. Suddenly he ran away Arya poured some coffee for herself and ate her waffle and left for video conference in the home office after taking notes and an hour conference ended. Vikrant told Arya to leave as he does not have anything more to do and Arya came in to the kitchen she left her bag there and after picking her things went in the living room where the little boy Arav is playing with her nanny Arya looked at him and he came runing to her and hugged her.

Arya sat down and asked Hey little champ what's ur name he replied I'm Arav and I live here with Dad but I don't know you and I liked ur chocolate waffles Nanny doesn't know how to cook her waffles are not good . He said everything and Arya smiled and told him she is her father's assistant and she will be here every day Arav asked her if she can play with him and she agreed Nanny asked Arav to let her go but Arya told her it is not an issue. They played cricket and then Arya left .

Vikrant was shocked to see his son talking to a stranger after almost 2 years after her mother's death.He felt good about appointing that clumsy girl.

Next day Arya did her routine and served breakfast she was about to leave when vikrant told her I'm impressed with your work and also the way you treated Arav he hasn'said anything to anyone in two years.Arya was confused at first then she recalled the shock on Neera's face when Arav told his name with a stammering voice.

Arya smiled and told vikrant kids are bright they understand love and care so it is not something very big it is just he has accepted his loss. Then she left and today she made smiley face sandwiches for Arav and he liked them.

They started enjoying each others company and Vikrant is enjoying the happy atmosphere which his home was lacking since her wife's death .
