Feverishly bangs out a ref for my Fallen London oc in preparation for Artfight. It turns out the secret to doing a turnaround is to have a character design that warrants it.

I had a lot of fun designing the Weeping Scars even if they're a fair bit deviating from canon. The longer winding scars is because the rind peeling imagery in Seeking Mr Eaten's Name stuck with me.

Mr Eaten spurred their interest in the Correspondence, which turned out to be their calling due to their language and conceptualization aptitude. They will turn back, to kill a certain someone. The Discordance is in their future, which I am excited about. A reckoning will not be postponed indefinitely.

see, i can make him look cool and charming from time to time! (as opposed to his usual states of 'unluckiest slapstick comedy protagonist' or 'only human in a muppet movie').

i was SO afraid of doing zé's cameo bc of his hat. i SUCK at drawing hats. but it ended up my favourite overall, by far... drawing is a very mysterious thing

cinthe is a little above average, zé is a short king, and i forget rei is. big kinda. they're not even that tall but this was great for perspective

hyacinthe's playthrough is between 3 to 8 years in the past so she very very likely won't ever meet those two as they are, but putting them side by side i realized rei & zé can and should have a future chaotic patron/protegé dynamic.

in part i believe the text in the game frequently referring to the manager having a cane was intent on it being along the lines of the 'aesthetic' versions used in fashion in the time period, not actually considering it as a needed accessability tool, and thats why they elected not to include it when they gave him art in Mask

but.

i think thats stupid. and i think even with the magic stuff theres no reason not to assume its an actually needed accessability device. and i will continue drawing him with it under that notion.
