Volkswagen Safari brochure, 1974. The VW Type 181 (AKA the Thing) was marketed in Mexico for a decade between 1970 and 1980 using the Safari model name. The floorpans for the Type 181 came from the Karmann Ghia, which used a wider floorpan than the Type 1 (Beetle).

Franke Buggy 75, 1975. First presented 50 years ago at the Geneva Motor Show, a fully enclosed buggy-type vehicle based on the rear-engined VW Beetle platform. Franke was a Swiss kit-car maker who also presented a pick-up version called the Joker 76 (pictured below) at the show a year later. They went out of business in 1983
