my mum came back from Iran and I went to pick her up with a bouquet of lilies and eucalyptus, her favorites, that I put together myself, the past two weeks have felt like a rollercoaster and a nightmare at the same time - she came back with a copy of Hafez, a handmade necklace with the fingerprint of my grandma, a pack of gums and some feathers from my grandmas parrot and I’m thankful that despite everything she thought about me and took some pieces of my other home to me
disclaimer: the feathers are not picked from the bird himself, those are the feathers he shed when new ones were growing
as always: all pics mine, reblog is okay, don’t repost/use

this is a well-worn, standard issue kit that one of the Undertakers might use while hunting down undead. most of the items in the kit so far pertain specifically to western European type spooks, so I'll have to do more research to get more range to match the array of spooks featured in the project, but for a first go at props I had a lot of fun with this!
for anyone interested in a little i-spy, 10 points if you can find the crystal pendulum, rosary beads, hagstone, witchhunting pin, dowsing rods, and planchette :)

Realized I leave in a week and haven’t packed anything yet so I figured I’d update my kindle stickers. I’m obsessed with everything Book Babe Designs makes 😭
Anyway, I thought I should pick books out as well. I’ve had Scythe & Sparrow and Wild and Wrangled for months but was in a slump when I bought them. I don’t know, I don’t feel sold on this selection…but I guess we’ll see what I end up going with here before too long 🤪

I am absolutely in love with your latest butterfly drop its so!! Gorgeous!! I'm particularly in love with the dark green design. Also the way you do your flat lays for the photos is so cool!! Could I ask what you use for the bg of them? I want to elevate my photos and really am inspired by how you do them.
Have a wonderful day and good luck with the collection!
thanks so much for the kind words!! 💖
also OKAY here is a vague guide on how i do my flatlays. first the bg is savage brand photo backdrop paper - they have a TON of colors and sizes to choose from!
Tumblr media
its nice and sturdy and unless you REALLY abuse it, it lasts a loooong time. for the lights i just use some cheapy ones i got forever ago but ive been meaning to upgrade to some brighter ones.
next i usually like to pick a theme and think about how i want to style my items - i used to use my own wardrobe to pair with my apparel but had to branch out and start buying clothing specifically to use for props haha. then i take the theme (in this case it was fairycore) and try to come up with a bunch of items that matches the theme - but in general you cant go wrong with pretty things like faux flowers, cool looking books/magazines, cute purses or bags, hobby-related items like video games or art supplies. just like go wild and channel your inner magpie hoarding pretty looking items. if you have a good thrift store nearby you can get really cool glasses/metal homegoods that make gorgeous props, not to mention old books and little trinkets. Pinterest is helpful if you have a theme but cant come up with enough items to fit the theme too!
anyway this is a bit more extensive than you asked but i figured maybe others would find the info useful as well Lmao i looooove making themes and planning for photoshoots

Mastering Minimalist Fashion: A Touch of Elegance
If you've ever dreamed of a wardrobe that embodies sophistication, you're not alone. Minimalist fashion is all about embracing simplicity while maintaining an effortlessly chic appearance. Here’s how you can achieve this timeless style:
1. The Power of Neutrals
Cream, beige, and white tones are essential in minimalist fashion. They offer versatility in mixing and matching, always radiating elegance. Start with a crisp button-down shirt and tailored trousers, like those featured in this stunning flatlay.
2. Quality Over Quantity
Focus on investing in high-quality pieces. A structured shirt or a pair of well-fitted pants can significantly enhance your outfit. Seek out fine fabrics and clean designs.
3. Accessorize Sparingly
Keep accessories minimal. A sleek watch, delicate jewelry, or a neutral belt is all you need to complete your look. Notice how the accessories in the image enhance the outfit without overshadowing it.
4. Pay Attention to Details
Little details make a difference! The design sketches, buttons, and even the stationery in this image demonstrate how simplicity can be artful. Bring the same level of care to your outfits.
5. Confidence is Key
Minimalist fashion isn’t solely about clothing; it’s about how you present yourself. Stand tall, exude confidence, and allow your outfit to speak for itself.
Ready to simplify your style? Minimalist fashion is more than a trend—it’s a lifestyle. Let your wardrobe reflect your passion for everything sleek and timeless.

Stars, Stripes & Sparkle: Independence Day Nails That Celebrate in Style
When your manicure is the firework.
This 4th of July, skip the basic and go for bold with this electrifying Stars, Stripes & Sparkle nail design—a full-blown patriotic celebration right at your fingertips. This set is more than a nod to red, white, and blue. It’s a curated showcase of national pride, with elevated detailing, graphic contrasts, and a splash of glam.
Design Highlights
• Color Palette: Bold navy, rich cherry red, and bright white form the core—accented with hints of gold and micro crystals for added luxe.
• Typography Nail: A standout nail features gold foil lettering that reads “INDEPENDENCE DAY,” giving editorial-level flair.
• Star-Studded Art: Varied star shapes scatter across white bases and blue accents in diagonal patterns, evoking motion and celebration.
• Stripes with Movement: Not your typical linear flag look—diagonal and vertical red-white-blue stripes add rhythm and modernity.
• Accent Embellishments: A few gold stars and crystal studs elevate the design from fun to polished.
When to Wear It
• 4th of July barbecues, fireworks, and beach parties
• Parades and outdoor summer events
• Concerts, rooftop gatherings, or just showing up extra at brunch
• Photoshoots, content creation, or beauty flatlays
This isn’t just a manicure. It’s a celebration set in polish.
Nail Shape & Length
Sculpted almond and square tips give you a flattering canvas for all the graphic elements. Perfect for anyone who wants length without sacrificing strength.
How to Style It
Pair with:
• Denim-on-denim or white linen outfits
• Statement red lipstick or blue eyeliner for a cohesive touch
• Star-shaped earrings, striped headbands, or red sunglasses to echo your nails

I have finished reading Creative Code and decided to get back to using my business planner, as well as continuing to use my morning pages. Yesterday I realized that I have turned all of my stationery into drawing utensils (more on that in a few months), so I went shopping for writing utensils.
And, as things are with all graphic designers, I of course did not use these tools to write anything, but instead put together a flatlay of what I’ve got.
Tumblr media
I am playing around with becoming a travelling designer of sorts, so I need to consider a few things in the future, like how mobile can a workshop be and is that even a thing? That sort of play.
But with these new tools up there, I am fairly sure I can find new enjoyment in writing down, literally writing down.
And it struck me as odd how expensive these products were, since I associate Lamy and Pelikan with school brands, much less stationery brands. Maybe I am wrong, and these are just high quality brands? Having looked through my local supply store’s shelves one town over, all the other brands were a lot less expensive, so maybe these things in my flatlay are frivolous to someone else?
Eh. Now that is some Poor Dad talk right there, if I may say so!
There are also other things happening right now, which curiously are also about writing–typing, that is.
Maybe you remember that I have put together a set of so‑called text expansions for the Beeftext software before and uploaded these to github, and there is some development happening there, but in a direction basically implied in this repository, and this development has been catalyzed by a kickstarter project turning the E1‑keyboard layout into a physical keyboard, which I have backed for the keycaps (I’ll put my own keyboard together, thank you very much).
I am teaching myself how to use the E1‑keyboard layout, while not relying on my own text expansions. Gradually, I am learning where the additional, typographically accurate marks are.
Tumblr media
Until my set of E1‑keycaps arrive, I have plenty to study and improve upon. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ll enjoy being able to do this, using a typewriter keyboard:
While chatting with an old friend today, I took note of what I’ve said about listening to the band Meshuggah, and liking it. “When you like Meshuggah,” I typed, “then you don’t have to share it with anyone–you don’t care if somebody listens to Meshuggah, you don’t care if they don’t. You just enjoy what you enjoy.”
