The okapi plushie prototype is done! There鈥檚 a few things I鈥檒l change for the next version (the slope of the back, the shape of the neck, things like that) but I think she turned out pretty darn cute!
#sewing#handmade#plushie#okapi plushie#floppy okapi plushie#I also stuffed this waaaay more than I should have to get the affect I wanted#but I needed to stuff it to get the body shape right#so streamlining that a bit next time#I think this head shape might be pretty decent for a boar or maybe a javelina?#so maybe version two will be a boar#there鈥檚 many things I could improve on on this pattern but I love the ears and I love how the fabric colors worked#there鈥檚 poly pellets in the ends of the legs so they are very satisfyingly floppy when you move the plushie#I did not add a tail but I still can. and I might? I haven鈥檛 decided yet

Hey y'all! Weird question: Does the word okapi (like, the animal) rhyme with the word floppy?
#I am thinking about making a plushie okapi pattern#because I want to make like a generic floppy quadruped pattern I can use as a base for a lot of different creatures#and I think floppy okapi rhymes and I was like okay sold floppy okapi it is#I know describing a plushie as floppy isn't necessarily the most appealing of descriptors but I promise it'll make sense when it's done#there's probably a better word for the quality I mean but once I thought of floppy it stuck and I can't come up with the better word#anyway I asked my friends and so far there's three different answers in the group for how to pronounce it#and only one of them rhymes with floppy

Hey y'all I realized I have the right colors of fabric (or close enough) to make the gavle goat (gavlebock?) in plushie form, but how big should I make it? And should I make it floppy and cuddly (the small version probably with my floppy okapi base pattern) or attempt to make it able to stand up on its own, but that would make it less cuddly? I'm leaning towards floppy and cuddly, bigger than the okapi, but smaller than the plesiosaur

I think I'm going to alter the body pattern a little and make a baby moose
