🌊 info | this is probably the pairing/characters i talk about the most here! in the context of weary exile, bright heart - an ongoing fallout 4 fanfic - nick valentine is a synthetic man working in goodneighbor as a detective when he is hired by centehua "tua" holloway to solve her sister's disappearance. nick and tua quickly bond over their shared sense of humor and similar pre-war backgrounds, resulting in nick hiring tua to be his investigative consultant; it's a sort of roundabout way of making sure they have money and shelter while pregnant. over the course of the series nick and tua grow closer as professional partners and eventually romantic partners, with nick co-parenting tua's daughter when they eventually decide to move outside of boston. through their relationship with each other, they develop a stronger sense of self and purpose outside of their jobs. They are deeply in love and attracted to one another, and are in many ways experiencing something they never thought they'd deserve.

just curious, how did you decide on Chara's and Frisk's personalities?

asking because we got even less of a glimpse of frisk ever appearing, and chara barely any

or maybe you just pictured them like that i don't know

I wanted to do something slightly different for the two of them.

For Frisk I knew I wanted to make them overconfident in the beginning as someone who got gaslit by the player into thinking all the accomplishments they ever achieved are their doing instead of the player. And then later on they'd get the rug pulled from underneath their feet. This in turn would make them question their own life much more and grow closer to Kris in a more natural way. (I take A LOT of inspiration from FFIX, so I aimed for a Vivi and Zidane-like dynamic. If you've played the game, you know what I'm talking about)

As for Chara... well they probably get mischaracterized the most out of all the characters from Undertale. Mainly because of Asriel's remark at the very end of the game if you choose to find him at the flowerpatch. So I took that remark and did a little bit if pondering. If we assume that Chara came from an abusive household, it might be easier to figure that they experienced a lot of verbal abuse (alongside the physical kind). What some children do to cope with that is taking this aggression they experience and transfer it to someone who is weaker than them. In most cases it's a pet or stuffed toy. When Chara got taken in by the Dreemurrs was probably the first time they legitimately experienced love, which must've been confusing to them. They were really close to Asriel, but this power imbalance they experienced in their past probably stuck with them, hence why they teased Asriel a lot. Notice how in the comic (and asks) Chara is very quick to insult people? I sorta believe the reason why Flowey calls you an idiot so much in the game is because of Chara. He's doing the same thing they did. In the comic Chara is not a murder hobo. They are just a bit of a bully due to past trauma. But you'll see how that's gonna be tackled in the comic later down the line.

Roman Holiday (1953) - watched on kanopy my love <3 we do enjoy a romcom romp with a bittersweet ending

The Birdcage (1996) - loved it, very interesting to watch in the 2020s. fucked up it’s as old as me though

Across the Bridge (1957) - saw this screened! we love noir, we love bridge imagery (brimagery)

Zero Focus / ゼロの焦点 (1961) - also saw this one screened! more of a thinker. we support women’s wrongs and women’s singleminded quests for the truth, even and especially when they conflict

Practical Magic (1998) - fun fucked up family times. you put the guy in the flowerpatch or however the song goes

Bottoms (2023) - had a blast watching this on a plane. funnie movie :)

Sherlock Jr. (1924) - really enjoyed seeing this screened! that mr keaton he sure can ride a bicycle. it was a doubleheader with the navigator which was also impressive but alas by that point I had a headache

Amélie (2001) - watched this with my mom for her french class. delightful movie. very green. at no point does she cook an egg with a spoon 👎

This one’s probably the easiest. Morris usually sleeps in the middle, because that’s how he feels safest, and he’s small enough that Mush and Blink can just wrap their arms all the way around Morris and can still pretty comfortably hold the other. The only time this ever changes if Mush or Blink are having an extremely bad day. And, if that happens, Morris ends up on top of that person, and the other has his arms wrapped around them both.

c = comfort; when someone’s feeling down, how do the rest look after them?

Morris: When Morris is feeling down, the other two will wrap him in a blanket and hold him and cuddle up to watch his favorite movies. Mush: Mush is easy to comfort when he’s upset. Blink will make some food for the three of them, and Morris will crawl into his lap and hug him and hold him tightly and kiss him until Blink can join them on the couch with food. Blink: Blink is a little harder to cheer up. He likes to close up when he’s upset. He likes to lock himself away. Mush and Morris let him sit alone for maybe fifteen minutes, just to let his emotions de-escalate. I feel like Blink is the kind of person to, when in a super emotional state, say things he doesn’t mean to get people away from him. The kind to push people away so he doesn’t burden them with his problems. When they feel he’s calm enough, they join him in the bed and cuddle with him and tell him how much they love him, and they coax him out to the couch and cuddle him there (the change of scene usually helps blink get out of his head)

d = dates; what do dates look like? who usually plans them, or are is it a group affair?

I think they all plan dates. Occasionally they all plan it together, but more often than not, it goes something like this: 1: I wanna go on a date, we should go on a date. Clear your calendars for X day. 2: Okay 3: How should we dress? What were you thinking? 1: Details tbd.

And like the next day, they go to the others and tell them what the plan is, and they go from there.

Instantly? Mush. Can read his partners like a book. Can read his partners so fucking easily it’s honestly terrifying. No one expects Morris to be in tune with Mush and Blink’s emotions. Like, Mush starts feeling upset, and Morris has a fucking spidey sense for it. Will come running from the other room like “Mushy are you okay? What happened?” Blink knows when something is wrong, but doesn't always know what it is

n = nights; what’s the nighttime routine like when they’re all together? Morris: Morris is always the first to get tired, usually ends up dozing off on the couch, and the other two take turns carrying him to bed (he honestly pretends to fall asleep sometimes because he knows that they’ll carry him). Morris has to brush his teeth as soon as they finish supper, because if he doesn’t, he won’t brush his teeth. Mush: Mush has an extensive skincare routine that he does every single night. After he does his skincare routine, the three of them cuddle on the couch with calming teas (or hot chocolate), and watch movies. He showers twice a day, once when he wakes up, and one when he gets home from work. He also makes sure the stove is turned off. Because they’ve had too many close calls with Blink leaving the stove on. Blink: Blink doesn’t have a set routine. He is chaos incarnate. He has to constantly be reminded to even change his clothes after work. Mush won’t let him in the bed without showering. He does two thing consistently: 1. Clean his bad eye, under his patch and everything, making sure it’s good and clean and not infected 2. He checks the locks on everything. He makes sure every single door and window is locked at least twice before he’s satisfied.

In the middle of a rainforest lives LizardClan, one of five Jungle clans. When their leader, deputy, and several warriors go missing while exploring a collapsed cave system, LizardClan elects ordinary Vipercatcher as temporary leader of their clan. However, when speaking with their ancestors, known as CanopyClan, they bestow a new name onto her, Fallensun, and leave without another word. The clan struggles to understand why CanopyClan rejected her and debate if it's a sign that their clanmates are still out there. They alone must decide whether to trust Fallensun and doubt their Ancestors or follow the stars and be disloyal.

I'm in a mood and I'm gonna sadpost about it

This tiktok almost eerily plays back a ton of my memories from living in Sweden a year or so ago. Like some of these shots look almost identical to the images in my head

I'll list them out in reverse order, cause I feel it tells a story that way:

Shot #12: White cloth held up to the sun

Going out with friends to celebrate Valborg and Midsommar.

Shot #11: Horse running through a courtyard

That time I rode by someone leading a horse while I was biking through the woods. And maybe a little bit of seeing the king visit my town. This one's the least similar to my memories

Shot #10: Wind Farm in the Sea

Visiting Copenhagen and seeing that exact view crossing Øresundsbron over the Denmark Straight in a train

Shot #9: City at Night, Street Level

This one brings up a lot of images. Particularly riding my bike home at night and passing by lakes and city lights. And watching the aurora through my window with the city under it all

Shot #8: Windy Beach on a Cloudy Day

Visiting Kalmar on Christmas Eve and nearly busting my ass trying to walk on ice at the beach. I got this really nice photo tho

Shot #7: Movie Screen on an Airplane

I originally thought this was a regular tv and it reminded me of watching movies in my shared apartment, but with this new context it actually reminds me of trying and failing to watch LotR: The Two Towers on my connecting flight to Iceland (which I apparently thought to photograph)

Shot #6: Oceanside Patio

In the same Christmas Eve visit to Kalmar I also visited Kalmar Castle. Obviously this shot isn't of a castle, but with all the other memories this tiktok brings up it really reminds me of a place just outside the castle I stayed a moment to appreciate (not pictured)

Shot #5: Cat walking across a balcony out a window

The many times I was able to have dinner with my German friend Sweny. They're one of the nicest people I've ever met and I miss them deeply. They were the first person I saw when I first arrived fresh off the train, and they gave me a hug I desperately needed

Shot #4: Foggy hills next to a highway

The first leg of a larger trip up to Lapland / Sápmi. I was riding a bus up by Jönköping towards Stockholm and probably saw this exact view dozens of times

Shot #3: Flowerpatch

One of the paths to one of the grocery stores I went to after moving into a new apartment brought me up a hill that was covered in flowers and overlooked the city. That grocery store sucks but the view always made it worth it

Shot #2: The moon's reflection in the water

The countless times I would go out to the lake at night. For whatever reason, be it anxiety, insomnia, or just to see the stars and be at peace near the water. I actually have this photo as my pfp rn

Shot #1: Looking out a train window moving through the countryside

Looking out the window of a train going home from Malmö at a large expanse of farmland, after just being told that I'll have 7 days to pack my things and leave. I was being deported

I don't know why I took this photo. It's blurry, out of focus, and just pointed at a spot in the sky with a tree branch barely in view. It's not how I take photos. But I'm painfully aware of its context. This was only moments after the swedish border police threatened to put me in detention after I foolishly tried to apply for asylum in a desperate plea to try and stay in a country I felt at home in.

To include my take on the trend where people take Kitchen Fan Lullaby (the sound in the tiktok) and say "'It's just a girl harmonizing to a fan' no it's..." and describe a heartbreaking experience of theirs. This is mine. This is what I think of when I hear that sound.

I hear what it felt like to sit for an eternity at stop after stop, getting on bus then train, then bus again, and staring out at the passing landscape through a constant stream of tears knowing that in 7 days I'm going to lose my home, my friends, my community, and the place I had grown to love over a year of living there. I was going to have to pack all my things, leave a good chunk of my stuff behind, and go back to live in the borderline-abusive household that I was fleeing to begin with.

And here I am, after however many months it's been since I flew back. I don't even know how long it's been, probably because I dissociated most of it away. Since then I've discovered that I am an osdd system and I've been reckoning with that and the deportation all these months, and I'm nowhere close to fully accepting either of them. Healing from all of this and all of my previous trauma while trying to get back on my feet with school in the place I'm in currently is pretty close to impossible. Often times I make a month's worth of progress only to see it fall apart in front of my eyes. I feel like a shell of who I used to be. And I've been so overwhelmed with emotion that I lashed out and hurt one of my closest friends.

I'm trying to keep these memories alive, but a mix of dissociation and my father's seeming inability to acknowledge my time spent outside of the country makes these memories fade more day after day. I am trying to hold onto the good things to pull through, but it's still difficult, especially right now. I really hope this story has a good ending but it's still being written. I'll be sure to update if it eventually does.

"Just look at all these flowers, aren't they incredible?" There's a small bounce in Aerith's step as she circles the flowerpatch in the old church. The small flowers grow strong, undeterred by the occasional rubble scattered in between. They're an odd sight for Midgar ; a rare sight of life.

"I come here, every once in a while, and take care of them. Taking the opportunity to talk to them about the latest goings-on in my life when I do…" she smiles slightly, kneeling down and gently brushing some brick dust off of the small petals of a tilted flower. "Good times, bad times… Happy times, sad times… Whatever's left an impression, really." her gaze doesn't leave the flowers.

"After all, flowers are alive too, you know?" she finally looks away from the flowers, raising her gaze to her company with a smile "They listen."

Her attention turns back to the flowers as she gently prods the dirt to straighten the lopsided flower. "They share in my happiness and they comfort me when I'm sad." she givs a small giggle- "Flowers are amazing like that, after all. Don't you agree?"
