Sinister cave 2023 Acrylic on paper
This is a commission I much enjoyed working on; the client was kind enough to give me permission to post it.
Now, having dedicated an entire picture to painting speleothems, I can see that I like painting them even more than I thought.

Treak Cliff Cavern
Treak Cliff Cavern, located near Castleton in Derbyshire, England, is a show cave that is part of the Castleton Site of Special Scientific Interest. It is one of the only two sites where the ornamental mineral Blue John is excavated, with the other being the nearby Blue John Cavern. The Blue John visible in the show cave is not mined but extracted in small quantities from other cave areas and…

The Impact Gameworks franchise has gotta have one of the odder trajectories I've bumped into. The first game, Tangledeep, is a ball-bustingly difficult turn-based roguelike with way too many character classes and a nearly vertical game-mechanical learning curve, then the next game, Flowstone Saga – a direct sequel to the first, I must clarify – is... a Chrono Trigger inspired JRPG-style adventure with a combat system based on Tetris? Run that one by me again!

If Adakite was Telling the Truth, Could That Lead to Another Villain?
I was thinking about the chapter book "Secret of the Fifth Mysticon" and I realized that there were some things about it that I don't remember discussing on my previous post about this. As most of these are more interesting, I thought I'd explore it.
First, to sum up what I put in my last post, I imagined the fifth Mysticon would be a dwarf, as Adakite was. They would find the dwarf in Rudick's Hollow. However, I kept her similar to Sharise in every other way.
The least interesting change is the fact that it won't be a chapter book. I doubt that they would put something that changes the course of the story separate from the show. This is further supported by the fact that none of the chapter books had any major changes to the overall story, despite them all taking place during the events of the show.
I also think that most of the puzzles will be different. The puzzles in the book were designed to teach Adakite a lesson, and for her to solve them alone and return to her friends. However, that would not be the goal if someone wanted to erase the fifth Mysticon from memory. Because of that, I think the puzzles would be ones that all the Mysticons would have to work together in order to solve, so Adakite can't save herself. Also, that's how Adakite described it, and remember that for this theory, we're assuming she's being honest. The last puzzle (where they have to hit beams in crystals) would stay, as that did require all the Mysticons.
A question that would come up is a potential villain. Now that the spirit of the fifth Mysticons were released, the Mysticons would want to know who cast the spell to made the OG Mysticon forgotten. Also, Sharise could be in danger, if someone connected to the person who cast the spell finds out.
While it would be nice to rewrite the story so the OG Mysticons have to be the ones to free Adakite, as there would be the emotions from them realizing they forgot her, I don't think that would happen. Adakite asked for the current Mysticons, implying they would be able to do so (plus, the OG Mysticons remembering Adakite would cause time travel issues, as a fifth Mysticon would be known earlier). Instead, I think that the current Mysticons will have an emotional talk with Adakite, where Adakite promises the Mysticons to care for whoever is the new fifth Mysticon, and the current Mysticons saying that they will, and will never forget Adakite. Perhaps they would even make Adakite known in their time, so even though Adakite's friends forgot her, she will be given the recognition she deserved in their time (added to the statue, etc).

MtG Token: 3/1 Beasts, 1-4
Magic: the Gathering has been around for 30 years. There are 27,000 unique cards and growing. And a lot of them create tokens. While the official tokens are great, I have a need to celebrate the artwork of our (mtg) ancestors. Let's celebrate older artwork with a new coat of paint.
Token:
The best come from Tooth and Claw
We start with Avarax from Onslaught by Greg Staples.
Then Chartooth Cougar from Scourge by Tony Szczudlo.
Flowstone Mauler from Stronghold by Paolo Parente.
And lastly Wild Colos from Urza's Destiny by Marc Fishman

While not an actual bear, Elves vs Goblins' Giant Growth (Matt Cavotta) has a fantastic bear. The final bear is Druid's Familiar (Adam Paquette) from Avacyn Restored

Experience the Thrilling Action of Flowstone Saga
Tumblr media
Flowstone Saga action RPG puzzle battle game launches on Linux, Mac, and Windows PC. Thanks to the brilliant minds at Impact Gameworks. Available on both Steam with 94% Positive reviews. The Flowstone Saga action RPG comes from the brilliant minds of Andrew Aversa and Andrew Luers, who first connected in the 2000s. Doing so through their love of video game music in the OverClocked ReMix community. Aversa, a talented producer and composer, and Luers, a graphic designer and musician, teamed up for the first time on Tangledeep. Now, they’re back together, co-designing this title — Aversa leading the programming, and Luers taking the creative reigns as director.
