The "how to draw manga" series produced by Graphic-sha. These are for manga artist but they give great advice and information.

"Creating characters with personality" by Tom Bancroft. A great book that can help not just people who draw cartoons but also realistic ones. As it helps you with facial ques and how to make a character interesting.

"Albinus on anatomy" by Robert Beverly Hale and Terence Coyle. Great book to help someone learn basic anatomy.

"Artistic Anatomy" by Dr. Paul Richer and Robert Beverly Hale. A good book if you want to go further in-depth with anatomy.

"Directing the story" by Francis Glebas. A good book if you want to Story board or make comics.

"Animal Anatomy for Artists" by Eliot Goldfinger. A good book for if you want to draw animals or creatures.

"Constructive Anatomy: with almost 500 illustrations" by George B. Bridgman. A great book to help you block out shadows in your figures and see them in a more 3 diamantine way.

"Dynamic Anatomy: Revised and expand" by Burne Hogarth. A book that shows how to block out shapes and easily understand what you are looking out. When it comes to human subjects.

"An Atlas of animal anatomy for artist" by W. Ellenberger and H. Dittrich and H. Baum. This is another good one for people who want to draw animals or creatures.

Etherington Brothers, they make books and have a free blog with art tips.

📝As for Supplies, I recommend starting out cheap, buying Pencils and art paper at dollar tree or 5 below. If you want to go fancy Michaels is always a good place for traditional supplies. They also get in some good sales and discounts. For digital art, I recommend not starting with a screen art drawing tablet as they are usually more expensive.

For the Best art Tablet I recommend either Xp-pen, Bamboo or Huion. Some can range from about 40$ to the thousands.

So do with this information as you will but as you can tell there are ways to learn how to become an artist, without breaking the bank. The only thing that might be stopping YOU from using any of these things, is YOU.

I have made time to learn to draw and many artist have too. Either in-between working two jobs or taking care of your family and a job or regular school and chores. YOU just have to take the time or use some time management, it really doesn't take long to practice for like an hour or less. YOU also don't have to do it every day, just once or three times a week is fine.

rain world: urban au (series 1) ref sheets #1

each slugcat is given a name and a title at birth. naming schemes dont fit that of ancients due to the scugscav society's deviance from ancient traditions. the general slugcat naming scheme is that names ending in vowels are considered more feminine (and vice versa for consonants being masculine), and that each name translates to an adjective of some kind. enot's name does not fit the naming scheme (the word 'enot' has no meaning) and was given to her by herself.

clothing is more akin to human clothing, simply by nature of coincidence. seeing the old ancient ads projected through the overseers, the scugscav society turned all of those old brands into clothing brands, hence their placement on shirts and stuff.

the iterator cities are very cold due to being so high up in the sky. slugcats and scavengers both dress accordingly (most of the time. some of them wear shorter clothes for a multitude of reasons).

because of the cycle, age works differently in urban au. once a creature hits 35 years of age, they stop developing physically, so age is written as # of years before full development (written as #UFD). at 35 years old, their age is denoted as FD (fully developed) from thereon. (the equivalent age is provided in the ref, but it will be written in the UFD/FD format elsewhere) my assumption with the cycle is that it prohibits death of old age. it could be misinterpretation of the lore (please correct me if im wrong!) but i feel like if the ancients could die of old age, they wouldnt have been so hellbent on ascension. at the same time, we dont see or hear about any elder versions of regular creatures in the game, only seeing youth and adult versions. positions of power/respect seem dependent entirely on other factors, such as recognition (ancients), size/power (slugcats), and leadership (scavengers).

these refs exist for the beginning of urban au, so arbiter doesnt exist yet (but her conception will be a plotpoint later in series 1)

I know this is out of the blue, but when things happen they don't give you a forewarning.

I was involved in a car accident yesterday. Fresh with a new N, only had my car for a week to myself, I found myself hydroplaning into a traffic control post and side-swiping a car in the process.

Thankfully, they got off with cosmetic damage and a cracked tail-light as i avoided rear-ending them.

Myself, however, ended up with a banged bumper, a passenger mirror nearly beheaded and a crack radiator. Lucky, considering what could have happened, but still terrifying.

But I'm now asking for help. I don't expect anything for free, I will be making things in exchange. I've wanted to open commissions for a while, its just sad that what made me finally pull the trigger is when I'm in trouble. I'll link my kofi, the prices will be set to pay-as-you-want. I'll work out details for what people want, and I'll have a list of things I don't think I can do.

- Fiddleford got bitten by a “retired” vampire bat while on a research expedition with Ford in the local cave-systems

- Ford attempted to look after/research a cure for him while simultaneously working on the portal by himself. Fiddleford felt bad for the stress he was indirectly putting on him, so he snuck out and stayed away for a few months until he became a bit more stable.

- Fiddleford has memory loss/amnesia from the time he first got bitten bc he was slowly going crazy from starvation

- Stan got bitten by what he thought was a Coyote when he fell asleep on a park bench (it wasn’t)

- He was then convinced he had contracted rabies, scraped his money together for a rabies shot, only to find out he didn’t have it

- Fiddleford doesn’t remember the portal incident bc of amnesia/brain fog

- Eventually fed off of vermin (felt really gross about it) until he learned to hunt

- Stan usually isn’t able to “fully turn” during full moons, he calls it “werewolf constipation”

- Caused by stress which he refuses to address

- Stan has higher hemoglobin (like wolves) so his blood tastes better so it has a distinct scent (to Fiddleford anyway)

- Fiddleford covers his mouth any time he smiles/laughs because he doesn’t like his fangs

- His hair still grows, but it does so extremely slowly. Meanwhile, Stan has the opposite issue.

- Ingestion of blood provides very limited blood flow to vampires but does not inhibit function (movement, breathing etc.)

- Stanley doesn’t much care for his abilities, finding them more of a nuisance. He does appreciate the heightened strength, however, but still experiences joint pain.

- Although more durable, Fiddleford is still able to get injured, they just take twice as long to heal

- Stan smells like rank BO & wet dog 80% of the time, Fiddleford tries to ignore it

- Hunting works out for both of them when they end up working together. Stan can use the meat and Fiddleford the blood.

- Stan learned how to hunt from some of the locals as he reasoned it would be similar enough to fishing. Went for it since he was low on money, and his enhanced senses made some foods taste/smell weird. Never bothered to get a hunting license.

- Stan usually keeps to himself the week before full moons when Fiddleford moves in. Mitigates the severity of said pains as he’s used to dealing with it alone & feels he doesn’t need someone to look after him.

- Stan is the one to teach Fiddleford how to hunt with his minimal experience.

- They meet after Stan has been moved in for 3 months after Ford fell into the portal. Fiddleford remembers Stanley from old pictures Ford had hidden in an old textbook (ref. Book of Bill)

- Stan only found out Fiddleford was a vampire after he caught him draining the raccoon that kept pushing over the trash cans at night

- Fiddleford found out Stan was a werewolf because he had coincidentally stepped out at the same time that night during a full moon

We just rescued a kitten from a woman that said that was throwing him back to the streets and joke about giving him to her pitbull for dinner.

We take the kitten to the vet and fortunately he was negative on FIV but he has a severe infection.

I just pay my bills and I was barely able to pay for the check and the FIV test but I was not able to buy all the medication he needs to recover from his infection.

so i decided to re-watch the first half and parts of the second half before providing my full match thoughts because emotions are always heightened in the moment, but honestly, my opinion hasn't changed much. so here we go:

right from the start, it felt like a lack of energy and drive from our players. too missed misplaced passes, lack of coordination and buildup, and slow play. i don't know if barça felt cocky going into the match or underestimated the line-up, but our players never got out of first gear.

our starters did not act like starters. these are some of the best players in the world, and yet it looked like they never got out of bed. i lost count of how many goals we should have scored from caro, pajor, aitana, alexia, it was all just off.

our defense needs reinforcements this summer. yes, we had rotation. but it was clear that torre was not up to the ask and the right side was exploited. frido started well but it was soon made clear that she is not the same player that she was prior to her injury. esmee is the clear starter moving forward.

of the bright spots on the day: sydney and jana. sydney was one of the few players with some nice filtered passes and crosses into the box. that she was taken off at the half instead of aitana or alexia was a surprise. and jana put in another strong performance. very sad that her goal was disallowed, but she provided a necessary spark.

let's address the referee situation. it should not be a surprise to anyone, nor any of the players that refs in liga f are horrible, which is why you do not leave anything up to them, and you have to give your 100%. yes, jana's goal should have been allowed. but the missed penalty call against caro in the 45' was 50/50 and could have gone either way on re-watch. and then she missed a clear sitter 45 seconds later. even if the match ended 2-2, i would have the same complaints 🙃

ultimately, i need to put this on pere. his tactics were all wrong for this starting XI, and then his subs were wrong here too. it was a case of too little, too late and the fact that this is our second league loss and third loss overall of the season is quite concerning because we have the same core set of players as before, with some added enhancements but why are we playing worse?!

and finally, the worst part of all of this is that madrid has finally beaten us. they no longer have that fear against us. they know they can beat us and that psychological advantage has backfired. anyway, time to re-focus, come out with a better attitude, and make sure we turn to the match against wolfsburg and secure our position into the semis. 🙏
