Today is the big day ! The REVEAAAAL of my secret project. Because yes I've been working days on this 15 objects kit !

A little lore about the Desk Mess CC Kit : Maybe you know it, maybe you don't I AM FRENCH. And I play The Sims since... I am 11 or 12 yo. When I discovered the great world of custom contents, I was awestruck. So, I started downloading a loooooot of them. Never thinking one day I would make my own. Then in Covid 2020 I tried Blender. And a new world opened to me. It was hard. But I am very stubborn. I failed a lot. But I kept trying. So the first time I successfully added MY OWN CC into MY GAME and it worked I thought, OK THIS IS IT. I WANT TO LEARN MORE. You are going to ask yourself, why is she telling this. Why being French has something to do with this CC Kit, and I'll tell you why. As a Sims 4 addict, I watch a lot of content about Sims 4. And I have a favorite French Youtuber I follow since 2019 @kapands ! I loved her content so much, I followed her on Twitch. And I loved even more the community there. I was so happy to add my contribution to the 2024 secret Advent Calendar the community is gifting her. Following her all these years, I knew custom content was taking a great place in her way of playing The Sims 4. So I challenged myself (really afraid to fail) to create a CC Kit centred around one of her character : Bella. (2nd gen of the Into The Forest Challenge).

"What are you exactly?" He naively asked you, the young lady floating from on high with singed skinny wings one day while he was working out in the forests surrounding his home. "Are you what they call an angel?"

Your smitten smile got him feeling all warm and fuzzy inside for some strange reason as you floated down slowly, your eyes flashing eternal night with the pupils of sapphirc splendor. "Sure let's go with that."

"Would you like some cream puffs? I made them myself." He suddenly pulled out a wrapped basket right out from behind. His eyes sheened with delight at how your face literally glowed as your stuffed cheeks turned pink.

"These are the best things I've ever had~!" Your wings wrapped around him in the sense of an embrace, his heart racing at how close your smiling face got. "You're cute, strong, and can cook. You're perfect." You kissing him on the lips truly did made his mind short circuit and drool as he stuttered like the cutie bean he truly is.

So many days followed suit spent the same way. You admiring him whether it be his workouts or him cooking when his Pops wasn't around. You asked him to keep your hangouts a secret and he agreed straight away so long as you could taste test his creampuffs with him.

The last time you saw him was the day before everything changed. Blessing him with a ring on a chain you had him hide under his attire. "This is my promise to you. That I love you. As my friend, confidant, and chosen other. I hope in time you too feel the same way. Until we meet again, my beloved Mash~" Your parting kiss to him left him stunned yet heart lorn at watching you turn into literal feathers, blown away by the sudden cold winds.

So he carried you in his spirit as he was thrust into the story of his life, from attending Easton Academy to striving to become a Divine Visionary in order to return to his peaceful life together with Pops. He could still feel you with him through all them twists and turns, watching from afar and on high, knowing he would be all right in the end.

Then came the day when all hell broke loose. Literally. When Lemon, dear sweet Lemon, kissed Mash fully on them lips. Your self-restraint broke. Your already singed feathers floating down from the stormy skies eroded into cosmic dust as said dust swirled together and fused into your physical form, literally coming in between those two, outlined in envious fury.

"Whether it's the Magia Lupus, the Divine Visionaries, or all of Absolute Zero, I will decminate any who dares try to take him away from me!" Your layered demonic voice causes the grounds to quake, shattering windows, cracking the walls, as otherworldly magic to rival that of God's struck down from the stormy skies and energy waves of the etheral and infernal kind knocked everyone else back, on their knees, in anxious fear.

"Please don't hurt my friends." Mash's calloused hand always felt gentle when he touched you, patting you on the head. "I've missed you." His comfy embrace literally deflated your towering monster form back to human as you wept, clawing at his back desperately as you missed him too, as the world started settling down once more.

"There there, it's okay." His usual monotone was dabbed with understanding and care. "Here, have a creampuff." Pulling a big one out from under his uniform robes, he looked so elated watching you eat with tears of joy running down your face when he gestured to you for his alarmed friends. "This is Y/n, my guardian angel."

Finn was gobsmacked, white as a ghost sheet. "Your angel is a literal demon!"

"That's fine by me." Mash retort dully.

"SERIOUSLY!?"

Dot was straight up pissed. "HOW COME YOU'RE LANDING GIRLS LEFT AND RIGHT, HUH!? SAVE SOME FOR THE REST OF US, YOU JACKASS!"

"You're desperate, man." Mash bluntly put it.

"EVEN THE HERO GETS LONELY, MAN!"

Lance looked the most calm besides Mash about this. "Honestly, this isn't the most surprising thing that's happened. You always draw in all kinds of people, don't you?"

Mash blinked owishly, cocking his head to the side, a bulb lighting up above his head. "Uh ... I guess so."

"Still as air headed as ever."

Lemon screeched, broken hearts in her eyes. "Mash! Why didn't you tell me you were already taken!? You're supposed to be dating me, marry me, have kids with me! How could you do this to me!?"

"Lemon, you're my friend. That's enough for me."

"IT'S NOT THOUGH!"

"But," he pulled out the worn out chain with the plain ring glinting from the sunshine as he held it between his fingers. "This is a promise." He turned to you, tints of red on his cheeks, as he held the ring to you. "And now I make it my promise to you. As friends, confidants ... and my chosen other. Because ... I love you too."

Your tears of joy water up your smile as you hugged his neck, nuzzling your wet cheek against his. "Mash, thank you."

Lemon fell to her knees, waterworks of dismay creating puddles underneath, as the others passed out in utter shock. Onlookers comprised of their schoolmates spotted the magicless Mash getting smothered by the mystery glowing lady doting pecks all over his melting face as his friends looked so done.

This Week in BL - 2024 is Ending, Not With A Bang But With A Whimper

Your Sky AKA How to Train Your Seme (Sun iQIYI) ep 6 of 12 - Oh they are so fucking cute. Lee maybe the best brother wingman ever in BL. He is so entirely on Fah’s side. And we get sweet soft first kisses with permission asked. Yeah!

Stupid phone call!

ThamePo (Fri YT) ep 3 of 12 - Not gonna lie, hard call over whether this should take the top spot this week. I adore this show.

This lead pair is absolutely stunning. I love that the story is about external drama with others, not manufactured drama or miscommunication between the leads. In fact, the romance that we see developing is one characterized by careful attention, gentleness, and patience. They enjoy each other‘s company in a restful calming way. We are watching them become each other’s safe space. Neither of them realizing how much they needed that from the world. I hope the conflict stays external and they get to evolve as a couple while narrative tension stays external.

Love Sick 2024 (Sun iQIYI) ep 15 end - i’m quite pleased that they kept most of the stuff in the forest. And I actually like that they swapped it around so that this was the end of the series. I think it makes for a better more solid ending. I'm disappointed that 10 years on and PhunNoh still don't get to have a decent kiss. Since I think the new pair would’ve done fine with it. In the end I think neither Love Sick really come out on top. They’re both represent their time although this new one was oddly nostalgic.

I chronicaled my experience with 2024 as compared to 2014 here including ep-by-ep recaps and ratings, as well as a summary judgement over all. Spoiler...... all that work and it was, ultimately, a draw. I guess 10 years a not all THAT much has changed in Thail BL. Therefore this Love Sick gets the same as the original, 7/10 

The Heart Killers (Weds Gaga) ep 6 of 12 - I love the tension and the slow rollout of the secret being revealed. It’s really beautifully done. Joong is knocking his role out of the park, I have to say. He’s kind of stealing this show for me. Also I loved the foreshadowing of drawing the make up tears on his face and then, of course, us knowing that there will be tears from Fidel in this episode once he knows The Truth. Very nice, boyos.

Fourever You (Thurs YT) ep 13 of 16 - I think i love Arthirt best in the world. love seeing someone more an arse than Johan. To Johan. Also, by all means take Ngern's shirt off. We all being all kinds of respectful on this side of the screen. Pinky promise.

Caged Again (Fri Gaga) ep 8 of 10 - Adorable date and sweet kisses. But NGL this episode was a bit boring for me.

Perfect 10 Liners (Sun YT) ep 9 of 24 - I think that I like ForceBook best when they are just being casual long-term boyfriends together. You know, chwill chwill sabai sabai. I see Santa is back in his "punk ass little brother" role. Suits him well enough. But I have to say that Junior is absolutely stealing this show. He’s truly stellar. Meanwhile, what an adorable hug and meet cute. I enjoyed the ending of this episode. I admit, I’m not sold on the new pair, but I’m more willing to give them a chance now then I was when this was first announced.

Secret Love 60-81 end - what a very odd show. But I forgive a lot for pining semes and the stepbrother trope. 7/10

Ongoing Series - Not Thai

Our Youth AKA Miseinen: Mijukuna Oretachi wa Bukiyo ni Shinkochu (Japan Tues Gaga) ep 8 of 11 - oh its so painful. No one does this level of suffering like Japan. Just press that bruise and feel the sticky sweet ache.

See Your Love (Taiwan Weds Gaga) ep 11 of 13 - it is all very important and absolutely adorable but where Sean just kind gestures desperately at the bed and Shao Peng muscles him into it was absolutely fantastic. All the picking up and tossign arroudn and smily fun kissing in the shower. It'll all just GREAT. Also, THAT pregnancy line was epic. 

Eternal Butler (Taiwan Fri Gaga) eps 3 of 12 - It's actually quite sweet. Tonally quite odd, and definitely jarring when pitted agains the rest of the end of year offerings, but I think I like it? I don’t know where it’s going. Or what it’s doing. And I don’t entirely trust it. Because of the production house track record. But I am enjoying it. Also, the horny herb drug is back. This is a seriously old trope. Like 1970s old romance trope.

Teenager Judge (Vietnam Sat YT) ep 13 of ? - I'm bored.

It's airing but......

Spare Me Your Mercy (Thurs iQIYI) finished it's run. I don't know what to do. Reviews are all over the damn place. Do I watch?

Be Moon - Falling for my enemy's son (China YT) movie from HBD Studio. I can't find it. You?

Winter Is Not The Death of Summer (Thai ???) - has been picked up to air on WeTV, or something? Criminals who meet in prison fall in love. I did find it on YouTube, initially un-subbed, then subs happened by which time I got distracted. It is very pulp but intriguing. For now it's to the wayside until someone tells me it landed safely. Occasionally Thai pulps want to be edgy and it's not a good look on them. But sometimes they do good.

The Renovation (Thai mini One31) 2 eps - Writer turns his blossoming romance with holiday resort owner into a novel. Is it worth tracking down? That is the question.

0.5D (Japan ????) 4 eps - Supposedly a now completed short. "Sales ace, Sada, has a secret that only his junior, Daiki, knows. He has pretended to have a gf for years, resulting in him being a virgin. But now Sada has fallen in love. Confused, Sada seeks advice from his junior." I sense another queer Cyrano De Bergerac. I can't find and it's got very poor reviews, so Imma stop looking. Info here.

It Ended But?

Blue Canvas of Youthful Days (China Sun Viki) paused at eps 9-10 of 12 - I have been told the ending is OK if not great. I just haven't been inspired to watch.

Nick & June's Mixtape Vol. 6

It’s officially our last Nick & June Mixtape until season 6, but never fear as we’re finishing up with some revenge, victory and a kiss fit for a fairytale. Osblaine’s would always love a bit more, but with a hated foe finally dead and a long awaited bargain struck for freedom, let’s not get greedy.

Season 4 gave us some great Nick and June fodder and 4 10 was a banger. “What the Fuck is this?!” Fred stammers astonished as June unapologetically grabs a face full of Nick right in front of him. Honestly was Fred really THAT stupid? I mean he was conceited, self-obsessed, but not dumb AF. He HAD to know there was something going on between these two.

Perhaps as a narcissist, Fred had dismissed his suspicions throughout the seasons as pure impossibility, or Serena’s claims as manipulative lies. But I doubted it. There were simply too many clues that he flat out knew or at least suspected these two were at it when his back was turned. As we saw in S2 he promptly arranged a child bride for Nick, after the slightest insinuation from Serena that he’d been paying June a little too much attention.

Fred didn’t even flinch when Serena told him that Nick was the father of June’s baby, he just seemed surprised to learn that they hated him. Then there was the litany of digs he had at Nick throughout the seasons about June and Nicole. He knew, or at least was highly suspicious when Blaine rocked up in S3 Ep 6 to visit his girlfriend, and when Fred ended up in that pitch black forest alone with the two of them, he DEFINITELY knew he was fucked.

Fred had already been rightfully scared when Blaine marched him in and slapped him around, he’d even started begging when he first saw Osborn. But when he saw them kiss fearlessly in front of him, he knew for sure he was a dead man. The connection between these two had always been a closely guarded secret, it was one that they weren’t hiding from him anymore and Fred knew he was never leaving that forest with it alive.

This kiss turned Fred into the figurative hostage who’d seen his kidnappers face and could no longer be released lest he open his yap. This could potentially cost Nick his life, and as Fred could tell from June’s look of adoration, that was something she would simply never allow.

I wish the world would go just go away

In 5 09 we finally saw Tuello spill the beans to June; Nick could get immunity if he becomes his inside man. But somethings wrong, Nick’s said no. Lawrence has been alluding to the fact that he’s been grooming Nick, exactly what’s been going on in June’s absence? Here June got a rude awakening of what Nick has become under Lawrence’s influence. Separated from her for what we can assume is almost a year, he’s become the figurative fist Lawrence uses to squash dissent amongst the commanders, all for the purpose of his new found vision: New Bethlehem.

In Gilead, Blaine has been encouraged to settle in, and in his attempt to “stay out of trouble” he’s had to make some compromises. He’s had to get a wife, and in order to avoid a Handmaid, he’s had to impregnate her……it’s Gilead law. Regardless of her intimate understanding of the inner workings of Gilead’s strict conventions, as he tells her, June’s face crumbles with the heartbreaking loss of a distant dream. “I have to protect my family, same as you” he says, but underneath, Blaine appears abandoned and wounded that June now has a family he isn’t part of. To him Osborne is everything, a never ending obsessive love that constantly fills his waking mind, but for all he now knows, to her he is “nothing”. Unlike his marriage of convenience with Rose, Nick is vividly aware that a part of June has always loved Luke. In her freedom and her new life with Luke, Nick assumes he has become no more than a half forgotten memory….and he’s hurt.

He’s wrong. The reality is, June’s been trying to shoe horn herself back into a life that she no longer wants. Her disbelief that he wouldn’t grab the chance at being reunited with her and Holly for good, in part stems from her own desire. She’s been burning time without him. There’s a glimpse of the distance that time and Lawrence had created between them, but as they draw closer it melts away.

The entire sequence appears like a slide show, littered with camera angles, gestures and exchanges that echo their relationship like precious mementos. As the two of them are inextricably drawn to one another, the dappled sunlight, green trees and framing are all so reminiscent of the scene in S2 when the two young lovers dreamt of being a family together in Hawaii.

“I wish the world would just go away, just for a little bit” June says tears welling in her eyes. The tragedy of Nick and June has always lain in the sweet simplicity of “in an ideal world” and here it is once more; Romeo and Juliet are getting shafted by the entire world yet again. Blaine’s no dummy, he can clearly see the news of his new family has gutted Osborne and in clear, simple and absolute tones, he reassures her that he loves her. It’s a statement that resonates with a sense of timelessness. He did, he has, he will. Her face collapses with the heartbreaking futility of it. It’s no use, the powers that be will always conspire to keep them apart no matter how hard they try.

We now know from 5 10 that Blaine never let her go, so when he doesn’t kiss her here, it all makes perfect sense. June seemed almost crushed to have waited so long, come so close and then not touch him at last. I was reminded of the “ice scene” when Nick came within a breath of her, touching her hand for the first time, then leaving her startled and winded. Was this an ending or actually the suggestion of a new beginning? All the exchanges between these two in S5 are about their responsibilities and commitments and never their desires. It’s intentionally done to illustrate their unhappiness without one another despite their best efforts to the contrary.

In season 2, in a rare moment of vulnerability, Blaine had confessed; “I think about us…..I think about it all the time” “Well don’t” June replied “OK I’ll stop” he quipped, illustrating the ridiculous futility of it. Here Blaine echoes his own words about his daughter a sign that as we head towards the Testaments, the focus shifts to their children. “Children look to their fathers. Set an example” Osborne calls as he leaves; his choice of loyalties lies just beyond the threshold, and their attempt to bury their hearts will soon prove just as pointless as it always was.

I'm Nothing

5 10 was like a binge fest for the Osblaine’s. There was a kiss straight from a story book, moments of revelation, a good old fashioned throw down and a long awaited crossing. Nick’s walk across the bridge in that misty moonlight really was a memorable season 5 moment, his physical crossing indicated a complete changing of loyalties and a declaration of devotion; he would simply never let Osborne go. Hearing that June had been seriously wounded, Nick still draped in designer swag, hightailed it from Lawrence’s wedding, to June’s bedside.

Regret and sorrow oozes out of him as he watches her silently and in a purely Shakespearean moment he leans in to deliver her a kiss. In a nod to the death scene from Romeo and Juliet, June rouses before Nick notices. I suddenly became uneasy that his deal with Tuello may have sealed his fate, was it his metaphorical poison? Given references to Nick in the Testaments, I prayed that the writers weren’t going to take the liberty of erasing him. I hoped that it was merely a reflection of her kiss on the bridge in S4.

“Every love story is a tragedy if you wait long enough” Fred had lamented to June, he’d deceived and bound Serena, her potential achievements cut off mercilessly much like her finger. He’d rejected her attempts for affection, demanding sex be reserved for purely functional purposes whilst he pursued other physical attachments. Their relationship had rotted and sure enough he’d ended up on the slab, leaving Serena somewhat teary but mainly terrified. I’d always thought of Nick and June as the anti Waterfords. Nick had sacrificed and set her free, he’d loved her entirely and respected her autonomy; I prayed that this meant something more promising than a trip to the morgue for the young commander. Tuello was of course happy to deal, he’d needed someone to fill Fred’s place for some time; and Nick stepped up, as he had done in so many ways throughout the seasons. However, this moment, where Blaine at long last signed on for his eventual immunity on that dark misty bridge, seemed more loaded with foreboding than hope. Perhaps given the dark twisted skewing of these repetitions and reflections, it was Tuello who should have been concerned for his own safety. Gilead is coming and in encroaching regimes, he is just the type of gentle voice of truth, to be silenced first. As usual, Nick didn’t actually give a shit about his own self-preservation, when confronted with the reality of June’s demise. Presented with a contract he didn’t even pause to read the terms and conditions, he just signed it.

Like a puzzle box, Blaine had previously remained surreptitiously precise and infuriatingly elusive. But after the gift of a moment of privacy with Osborne, and the promise for her safety by Tuello, the box at last snapped open. By bringing him to June, Tuello had automatically ranked up to some sort of platinum level trust in Blaine’s eyes, and instead of trademark stoicism, Tuello was granted a rare moment of complete candor. He asked the question that so many of us had been DYING to know the answer to; Why hadn’t Nick run away with June when he had the chance? Blaine fixed Tuello with that trademark stare, precisely assessing all aspects of the man in front of him, and then after 5 seasons, we finally got our answer. Apart from “Everybody Breaks”, “I’m Nothing” was probably one of Blaine’s most memorable lines for all of the seasons. While each of these phrases are only two words, they both reveal a significant fragment of his carefully hidden core.

We were all Tuello in that moment on the bridge, stunned by Blaine’s confession. Tuello, the father figure Blaine had searched for so desperately, gently reassured him that he was wrong. Until now we had assumed that Blaine had remained in Gilead out of some sense of loyalty or because he was trapped. Not once had we considered that he hadn’t made a break for the border, because he thought he was nothing but an errand boy, who’s existence would not only be pointless, but an inconvenience in June’s life. “I don’t know anything about you, I don’t know who you are” June had remarked in Season 1, astonished at Blaine’s resolute obscuration. He had no history, untethered, he may as well have been nameless. In offering nothing of himself, he had given nothing to her, and she demanded more. Up until then, Nick’s sole purpose had been service and for the first time, someone wanted “to know him”.

Tuello had sensed that something persisted between the two despite her homecoming. They were still meeting in secret and trying to make deals for each-others safety. Nick’s presence in Canada would have undoubtedly signaled absolute disaster to any hopes of June rebuilding her marriage, yet in 5 09 she encouraged him to make a deal none the less. Her request was nothing short of utter marital sabotage for the both of them, and deep down she would have known it.

Tuello certainly knew, and he made his business to point it out to Blaine. At every bid for her freedom, Blaine had dissolved into the shadows, offering himself as the veritable sacrificial lamb to be eaten up by Gilead’s darkness. Service and sacrifice overshadowing all sense of value or desire. Consequently it all amounted to these two being so far, so very very fucked.

This time he covertly stole into her hospital room, bargained for her safety and snuck away ala classic Blaine…..only Tuello knew, but just you wait till June finds out. ....Bring on season 6.

Netflix atla live action review ep 4-6

So, they completely ruined Bumi. Spoiler warning.

The more episodes pass by the more confused i get with the choices that were made. I wrote down commentary for the episodes and the thing that i wrote down the most was "why does this happen?". The writing is incredibly confusing and messy, feels too rushed in some spaces and too slow in others. There's just... so much going on and so little at the same time. They brought in elements that in the OG don't get introduced until later in s1, s2, the comics, or even the legend of Korra. The reason these things get introduced so early here is not clear at all, because they don't serve any purpose other than to be an obstacle to Aang, Sokka and Katara on their way to the North.

Mai and Ty Lee are.. there. They get introduced earlier but they don't serve any purpose at the moment other than stand around, watch Azula train, ask questions so that Azula can give us the answers the viewer needs. My guess is they only got introduced for the audience who watched the OG to go "oh we know them!". We get the secret tunnel story earlier too, but it has absolutely nothing to do with love. Somehow "love is brightest in the dark" now correlates to the badgermoles being able to sense a human's emotion. It's a waste of a storyline, doesn't teach us anything about love, gives us Omashu lore which is useless bc neither Sokka nor Katara actually use love to escape the tunnels. Also Oma and Shu are lesbians now, but you only know that bc they changed Shu's pronouns. Wow, so progressive! We have lesbians in the story now! Boy do i feel represented as a sapphic!

We get Koh early on as well, but his entire gig got changed. Now suddenly he doesn't steal faces but he "feeds", and hunts using the fog of lost souls (which is tlok lore mind you) as a tool to trap humans. We introduce the mother of faces (comic book lore!), or rather pendant of her that Koh owns. There's no reason for her to exist in this story though other than to be an easter egg to everyone who read the search (Not even the majority of the fandom!) and to offer a solution to this problem we've created, which is Koh capturing our friends in order to eat them and us not being able to convince him into letting them go. There's no feeling of dread in the Koh scenes at all because the whole problem of not showing emotion is just not a thing now. No suspense, no fear, just a weird cgi clown face worm. The worm doesn't even menacingly circle around Aang to invoke a feeling of being surrounded, it just sits there. I also just don't understand why Koh is here already bc now who is going to give us information about Tui and La?

This decision also creates a problem that Hei Bai's story just isn't about Hei Bai anymore. We get fed a few lines from a talking fox about how the forest spirit got hurt, but there's really no solution? Aang buries a pinecone in front of the statue and tells him not to give up hope but he didn't even really need to do that, because Hei Bai wasn't the one kidnapping villagers! It was Koh. Why did we appease Hei Bai if Koh was the real villain? Hei Bai/Koh's story leads us to Roku, but Roku is completely useless. All he does is undermine Kyoshi's advice to Aang, tell Aang about the mother of faces pendant so he can appease Koh, and then we leave. I knew in advance Roku wasn't going to warn Aang about the comet here bc Albert Kim already told us working with a deadline like that with child actors is just impossible. But with Roku suddenly not being Aang's main Avatar guide he just gets nothing to do. There's no suspense in this part of the story either, bc the time limit of the winter solstice isn't a thing here at all. Aang also ends up flying over Fire Nation borders without issue, and gets led right into the sanctuary without the puzzle of figuring out how to open the door, and without the problem of Zhao's soldiers waiting for him when he comes out. It creates this issue of there not being any excitement, at least for me. I genuinely am getting a bit bored with the show, which was never an issue with the OG for me. There's a reason all of this extra material didn't get introduced until later on. There's too many characters and they all get too little time to really do anything useful, they're not fleshed out, the stories aren't thought through and it ends up getting very confusing and boring. I'm genuinely curious for the perspective of people who have never watched the OG cartoon, bc i wonder if they're even able to follow along without prior knowledge of this universe.

Bumi is just... not Bumi. They completely changed his character to be this bitter old senile man that resents Aang for abandoning the world. This doesn't make any sense because in this version of the story Bumi shouldn't know that Aang is the Avatar at all, because Aang was told right before he disappeared! So why does Bumi immediately know that Aang is the Avatar, and why does Aang immediately recognize him? Also the original point of Bumi's tests is to get Aang to approach fights and puzzles from a different angle, so he can learn versatility as the Avatar. But here the tests are just happening because Bumi is mad at Aang for leaving and wants to get back at him for being gone so long. He says some lines about Aang having to learn to make hard choices and you can't rely on your friends, but Aang ends up proving him wrong in the end! What is even the point of Bumi's part in the story now, except for him just being another obstacle on the way to the North Pole?

There's a lot of instances where I feel like the bond between characters gets completely lost. We barely spend any time with the side characters like the mechanist, Teo, Jet and the freedom fighters, and the people in the spirit village. It makes some scenes feel very out of place. These storylines all happen at once, and they don't get their individual moments to shine. We have no room to feel betrayed by Jet or Sai, because we barely got to know them to begin with. Jet and Sai only spend time with One member of the gaang each, but when their betrayals come to light the rest of the group acts devastated, as if it was their dear friend. Sokka also gets really mad about the Jet thing, but he only met Jet once when he smuggled them into Omashu, and Jet didn't even tell Sokka his name. He said it afterwards when Katara met him again. It makes absolutely no sense why Sokka is yelling at Katara for trusting Jet only bc she finds him attractive, when Sokka wasn't even there during all of that!

The sense of family between the gaang that we get from the original also just doesn't happen here. Especially because these characters so far have spent more time apart than together. Aang constantly gets separated from Sokka and Katara, leaving no room for them to bond. We get Katara and Sokka bonding, but they shouldn't need those types of scenes because they're already siblings (which isn't very clear in the show either btw!). I ended up forgetting that Sokka and Katara were trapped by Koh, bc we spend so much time away from them (a whole episode, which is now an hour!).

I have little to no criticism for the Blue Spirit story. Want to guess why that is? Bc they left it pretty much untouched. We even get a little bit of an extra scene, with Zuko and Aang talking while Zuko recovers after getting hurt during the escape. I liked this choice, especially bc it highlights how conflicted Zuko is.

This is where we get Zuko's backstory. I have one question here: why did they make Ozai more sensible and less ruthless? Was that a Daniel Dae Kim decision? Bc it feels like a Daniel Dae Kim thing to do. They're very on the nose with the way Ozai is abusing Zuko and Azula, but then they turn around and make this man visit Zuko after he burned him and praise Zuko about finding the Avatar. I understand that they did this to show how Ozai uses Zuko's accomplishments in order to push Azula, but even if it were to do that: the original Ozai would NEVER. The problem here as well is that they don't let the viewers draw any conclusions themselves anymore. They're holding the viewer's hand through the whole thing, leaving no room for nuance or doubt.

I just finished episode 7 and 8 and I have Things To Say. None of which are good. Writing it down is challenging so it might take a day or two.

just some thoughts now yingdu has finished about cheng xiaoshi's parents.

thinking on how during the fire, cheng xiaoshi's mum confronts cheng weimin and says the fire was premeditated. but she also says it was planned by "them" (plural). I'd been considering the possibility that xia fei was involved in some capacity (and honestly that still can't be ruled out) but there being a specific group involved (and, huh, "involved" in the same way as vein asked cheng xiaoshi?) makes me think this is bigger than we thought. this was a decade ago so in theory none of our main players (vein, liu xiao) would be considered some great threat for shao yuanyuan to consider. could be organised crime, I guess? specifically, the xiang guy who liu xiao tracked down in yingdu ep 1. he had connections with the liu family, an interest in "superpowers", and clearly recognised the name "cheng weimin". still leaves many questions, but it's an option. and it'd mean that we don't spend season 3 with both liu xiao as the "main villain" and another organisation on top of that, if liu xiao has already taken this organisation out and moved in for the takeover.

the motives for the fire could also be a few different things. few possibilities off the top of my head:

obviously a lot of people want the book with the eye sign on that cheng weimin was keeping hold of (and wang qing/shao yuanyuan later hid)

the school being a place for people with powers also leaves the possibility that it was about taking out all the kids with powers before they could become threats (brutal, but the show did confirm a school full of kids burnt down so)

shao yuanyuan *thinks* it was premeditated (because there *is* a group after cwm) but in actuality it was linked to wang qing/xia fei snapping in some way as a result of bullying and it going terribly wrong

"it was the detective"/"and then there were none" - cheng weimin was forced in some way to set the fire by "them" or his family was at stake (sth sth mutual secret keeping), but helped xia fei and wang qing escape as "repentance" and faked his own death. (I hate that I'm writing this btw.)

(and the final option I'm shooting out here purely because it is *bold* if they pulled it off is that the "them" shao yuanyuan referred to is the same "them" that yingdu ep 3 was named after - xia fei and vein. again, I don't think it's super likely because of their respective ages and perceived threat at the time, but would be hilarious if it was right there in the title - similar to the "and then there were none" reference)

also! the fact that shao yuanyuan could simply refer to "them" and expect cwm to know exactly who was being referred to makes me wonder. it seems to imply that whatever group this was was known to them both. was cwm in hiding when he settled at the school? what's in that book that's so precious it took priority over his life?

cxs' mum also seeming to be in hiding in the "present" (both from her reactions during the wang qing possession and emphasis on "little time") combined with the way she'd gone non-contact with cheng xiaoshi for a decade. and, of course, "them".

and it's curious that cwm settled at a school for those with powers when it appears that it's cxs' mum with the powers not him. is this a case where they both had powers (and cxs just... inherited his mum's side?) or did cwm die and transfer the powers and book to her in one shot. would certainly add to the parallels with lu guang going back with cxs' powers.

(final thing and this admittedly could be down to the TL but when wang qing was saying about people answering her story the same way to cheng xiaoshi, she mentioned she'd "like him to meet [cwm]" which is... an odd thing to say about someone who is supposed to be dead. I mean, I guess it's in flux if he's in the process of being saved, but still, incredibly strange offer to make. and wang qing has told that forest fire story as part of her therapy sessions, so would she have asked cheng weimin back when he was still her teacher? I genuinely can't tell if I'm just overthinking things, but if there is yet another fake death going on here I am going to stab something.)

Reflections on Ep. 7 of LBFAD on rewatch

Shuyu Forest, Day 10: Xiao Lanhua (XLH) drew a possessed Yingzhao away from the other fairies but is about to become Yingzhao fodder! (where is her Xilan magic when she needs it?!) Our dashing anti-hero knocks the beast unconscious, saving both of their lives once more! DongFang QingCang (DFQC) can’t believe how close he came to dying again due to the insufferable one-heart curse and XLH’s reckless actions!! Where the hell was Shangque (SQ)?! He is about to kill Yingzhao but XLH stops him. In her gentle way, she purifies Yingzhao of evil qi, heals him, and captures him with a Demon Pill.

As Dieyi lurks in the trees behind them, DFQC, barely glancing in her direction, blasts her shoulder with excruciating Hellfire. DFQC chides XLH for her soft-hearted nature which led to her placing herself in danger. “I will remove this nature from you completely so you won’t be in danger again” he says, intending to add an emotion-repressive component to their regular training sessions. In the past few days, he had spent hours with her every day trying to improve her cultivation and powers, although progress had been slow (as he complained to SQ in ep. 6).

But it is XLH who rubs off on him instead. She explains to him gently that if she and the other fairies hadn’t cared about each other and worked together, Yingzhao would have devoured them all. Placing a soft hand on his shoulder, she says that no matter how dark and painful his past was (she has no idea!), she and others are there to help him through it.

Their tender interlude is interrupted by Changheng (CH) calling for her. XLH entreats DFQC to leave. “If CH sees me with you, he’ll think that I…” “What will he think?” he taunts her with a long stare, feeling irrationally infuriated by her infatuation with CH. “That you’ve been colluding and fornicating with a criminal?” He wants CH to believe that they are lovers, that he has irrevocably claimed her for himself, and she is off-limits to CH forever. The thought is delicious…he wants to kiss her in front of CH right now…

But for now, he lets go of this fantasy and disappears. It is too early to reveal himself to his enemies. A panicked CH grabs XLH’s arms and is relieved she is unhurt (no thanks to you CH! You’re hardly ever there when she’s in danger :P ) Appearing soon after, Ronghao (RH) now knows that XLH, the target of his failed assassination attempt, is CH’s secret crush. Lady Sansheng and Supreme Liyuan (LY) also appear and LY is very suspicious of how exactly XLH managed to subdue the rabid Yingzhao. Her priority is, of course, to protect DFQC, and she refuses to mention his presence there.

But she is worried when RH retrieves the evil qi she had dispelled and LY claims that only members of the Moon Tribe or celestial criminals could have reared such an evil force! Does that mean…that Da Qiang might have been responsible? This seem unlikely to her, but then, who else here could have done it? She does not suspect RH at all – ah RH, you are too good of an actor! Nobody ever suspects you of anything!

Fountain Palace: LY and CH believe there must still be an escaped criminal from Haotian Tower at large, and LY decides to seal off the Heavenly Spirit Lock gate until they are captured. This presents a problem for RH, who is unable to return to Haishi.

Arbiter Hall: That evening, XLH receives a message from Lady Sansheng congratulating her for achieving first place in the fairies’ examination that day! She is overjoyed! :D

Due to use of the evil qi, DFQC has realised that the people of Haishi who tried to kill XLH made another attempt today, and that it is connected to Lady Chidi’s destiny leaf. XLH interrupts his talk with SQ by asking him to join her for a chat. Still suspicious of why he was in Shuyu Forest that day, she asks whether he is connected to the evil qi. DFQC never explains his actions to anyone, and so, his ambiguous denial is not enough to satisfy her. On a side note, he has this habit down to a fault! After returning to Cangyan Sea, he doesn’t explain to Xunfeng, or the elderly lady of the hunters’ camp, or to anyone, what he had been up to for the past 30,000 years. Xunfeng believes he had been living in Shiyuntian all that time, as he challenges XLH in DFQC’s body in ep. 12: “you’ve lived in Shiyuntian for 30,000 years. Have you forgotten our rules now?”

But for the first time, DFQC’s evasion backfires on him, as XLH takes him by the hand and uses the Xilan seal to make him turn himself in! He is forced to compromise his usual behaviour and explain that he had been in Shuyu forest to protect her. Yingzhao would have killed her if he hadn’t been there! “If you die, I will die too. Your life is as important to me as my own life” he tells her resentfully. Note that the value of her life to him changes over the series. At the start, it is equal to the value his life only because of the physicality of the one-heart curse. Soon after, it is equal to his life due to his growing love for her. But soon, it surpasses even that, and her life becomes much more valuable to him than his own life! In ep. 26, he tells her not to use her blood to heal or revive others, not even himself. When she dies, he cannot bear to live, despite no longer being bound by the Xilan curse. And by the end, he sacrifices all that he is…his life, his spirit, his very existence, and is prepared to sacrifice even the memory of his existence…to save her.

XLH is overwhelmed by his sweet proclamation and by the fact that he has saved her life yet again. As they sit down to tea together in their usual idyllic alcove, she reminisces about the joyful memories they have created together over the past ten days or so. Just yesterday, during one of their regular teatime chats, she had happily recounted to him how she had seen snow fall in Haishi for the first time recently. To her delight, he had created snow around Arbiter Hall for her, and a little campfire to warm themselves by as they watched the falling snowdrifts together. In this little alcove, they had eaten her flower cakes together every day, both having a fondness for sweets, and curled up with books next to each other. He had helped her with chores around Arbiter Hall whenever she had asked, folding sheets and blankets with her and even cleaning (she mentions in ep. 9 that she got him to do chores). In the lead up to the examination, he had spent hours with her every day trying to train her powers – something nobody else had ever cared enough to do. With her damaged roots, no one else had thought she could improve, except for him – he was the only one who believed in her.

Every day, Da Qiang had collected dew for her, and taken her to see the sun. Usually for the first rays of sunrise, but sometimes he let her sleep in and took her to see the late morning sun. XLH was not a fast flyer and Yunzhong Water Pavillion was a great distance away, so he would inevitably carry her there and back again ensconced in his strong arms, while she also held onto him. She enjoyed that part very much, although it made her heart race to be so close to him.

But the sweetness of these memories only made her heart ache all the more. It was bad enough that she would have to cancel her result of winning first place in the exam, as she couldn’t accept a result that wasn’t completely her own. In giving this up, she would be giving up the one dream that had kept her going over the past hundreds of years, of working at Fountain Palace. But what was even worse was the thought that one day Da Qiang might be gone. She tried to tell him how she felt, that he was like sugar to someone who was used to taking bitter medicine. She wished he could stay with her forever, that she would never have to taste bitterness again.

DFQC did not quite understand, but she had given him much to think about with her speeches on the value of emotions. As he watched her sleeping that night, a vague memory came to him once more of being tortured to the point of longing for death, to have his emotions removed so he could control Hellfire. He was not fully aware of the reasons for this, but the Moon Tribe had been facing imminent genocide at the hands of Shuiyuntian and their lethal spirit-vanishing arrow formation, to which they had no defence (mentioned in ep. 16). In the end, everything his father had done, to his father’s own unimaginable suffering, had been to save DFQC’s life, as well as the existence of their people, both of which could only be protected through his son’s control of Hellfire.

Haishi: RH, twisted as he is, is trying to remember his beloved Master by forcing another helpless woman to disguise herself as Chidi. His relationship with Chidi was not romantic; rather, he revered her as the magnificent Goddess of War that she was. He had been a blind and unwanted little flute boy, abandoned by his family and by the world, who had condemned him to a miserable death. Nobody had cared to give him a scrap of food or warm clothing against the bitter cold. Lady Chidi had given him a new life, one where he had sight, power, wealth, immortality, and most importantly, was cared for. How could any other woman even come close to his formidable Master? His guards wait in the wings to carry another corpse away the moment the maidservant slips up.

Arbiter Hall, Day 11: XLH finds a firefly in her greenhouse! Luring it with food, similar to her way with Yingzhao, she captures it in the Magical Jade Firefly stone CH had given her. She plans to return it to CH while cancelling her examination result, thus giving up her dreams of both Fountain Palace and of CH. “Everything will return to its original place,” she says sadly but with acceptance.

Yujing: Danyin, in an awesome growth arc, threatens to beat XLH into a pulp if she talks about cancelling her exam result again! As a judge, CH will not hear of it either, and persuades her to keep the Firefly stone.

Haishi: RH, having tricked XLH into purifying evil qi and resurrecting an Ice Jade plant with green Xilan energy, realises that she is the Goddess of Xishan! Summary: Kai is forced to go to Hatchetfield’s very own Abstinence Camp by Paul when she offhandedly mentions she kinda, sorta, peggedaman lost her virginity and he freaks. Despite her protests and repeated reassurances of the fact that she is asexual, she gets sent to the camp. And as trouble follows Kai everywhere and refuses to lay off her, she learns of a dark secret, one that stalks the camp, lurking in the shadows. One that punishes the horny and troublemaking teens of the camp that refuse to abstain. One that carries an axe.

Dawn did not break over Rhaelyria; it bled.

The sky was not gentle but war-touched—striped in bruised violet and charred gold. Winds screamed through the high cliffs like the death cries of gods, rattling the black spires of Aerith Myr, the ancestral fortress of House Rivendale. The sea below roared with ancient fury, waves colliding against obsidian rock with the rhythm of a great beast stirring in its sleep. Mist clung to the towers like a second skin, refusing to lift.

This was no ordinary place. Rhaelyria was bone-deep magic, carved by the ancients and steeped in forgotten flame.

And at its heart, within the highest tower beneath a dome of polished starlight glass, stood Lady Emberyn Rivendale—the youngest daughter of Lord Derek, born beneath a blood moon and whispered about in every court that feared Valyria’s return.

She stood motionless, bathed in the half-light of a sullen dawn. Her long silver hair, a shade deeper than snow but brighter than ash, spilled down her back in loose waves, rippling like liquid moonlight. She wore a robe of storm-silk, translucent as morning mist, cinched only by a cord of nightwyrm hide. Beneath it, her skin bore a haunting pallor—moonstone kissed by shadow. A sigil glowed faintly over her sternum: a twisting flame enclosed in a circle of runes—the birthmark of her bloodline. It pulsed with heat now, responding to something unseen.

She had not dreamed.

Not truly. Not the way she used to, when fire whispered secrets and old gods showed her paths yet untaken.

But the echo of him remained.

Aemond Targaryen.

He had haunted her visions for moons. A phantom crowned in ice, eyes like storms, blade drawn not in hunger but in judgment. In her dreams, he walked through fire and did not burn. His sapphire eye gleamed with purpose and danger. He had felt like destiny—too sharp to be safety, too real to be illusion.

Now he was here.

In her halls. Beneath her roof.

Breathing her air like it belonged to him.

The fortress stirred below. She could hear it: the crackle of hearths being fed, the slap of boots against stone, the murmurs of retainers preparing for a feast not in celebration, but calculation. Her father, Lord Derek, had summoned the court to measure the threat—not welcome the prince.

Emberyn turned from the window. The movement was slow, deliberate, like a dance done for unseen eyes. Her bare feet made no sound against the ancient floor. She dressed without assistance: a gown of shadow-silk threaded with starlight, cut high at the throat and low at the back. Over it, she wore a sleeveless cloak of dark velvet, clasped at her collarbone by a brooch shaped like a flame devouring a sword.

She did not wear jewelry to dazzle.

She wore it like armor.

When she entered the Great Hall, it was as though a shadow had shifted.

Conversation faltered. Heads turned. Music slowed.

The room had been loud before she came. Now it was poised—waiting.

Aemond Targaryen sat at the high table beside her father. He wore black trimmed in deep forest green, the colors of his house rendered with chilling simplicity. His long pale hair was swept back from his face. The sapphire in his eye socket glittered, cruel and perfect, while the other eye—ice grey and lethal—tracked her every movement.

He rose when she approached. Slowly. Like a sword being drawn from its sheath.

"Lady Emberyn," he said, his voice low and smooth, as though each word had been honed to a knife’s edge.

She inclined her head, graceful as falling ash. "Prince Aemond."

His mouth twitched in something not quite a smile. "I was beginning to think your house kept you in hiding."

"We keep our fire close," she answered. "Lest those who covet it forget to fear it."

Aemond studied her. Not in the crude way lesser men did—but like a scholar staring down a riddle written in dragon's tongue. She felt the weight of his gaze settle over her collarbone, trace the line of her jaw, and return—always—to her eyes.

"I do not fear fire," he said.

"Then you have never seen it weep."

Later that evening, after feigned pleasantries and strategic silence, the storm arrived.

Not the kind that carried rain—but wind and fury and restless things clawing at the sky. Lightning forked through the heavens. The halls of Aerith Myr shuddered with every rumble of thunder, and the guards muttered of old ghosts woken by new blood.

Emberyn moved through the fortress like a memory brought to life. She wore no shoes. Her feet kissed the stone with reverence, and the runes etched into the walls sparked faintly as she passed. She descended into the heart of the mountain—into the sanctum few had seen, and fewer still had survived.

At the center of the chamber sat the Ember Mirror, a basin of molten flame cradled in obsidian forged before the world had kings. Runes shimmered across the floor, some in Valyrian, others older still—etched in the forgotten script of fire-speaking.

She knelt before it. Rolled up her sleeve.

And cut.

Blood fell into the flames.

The mirror hissed. The fire rose.

And then the visions came:

A dragon chained to silence. A queen crowned in ashes. A tower swallowed by snow. A man with one eye and too many shadows. And her—wreathed in flame, her mouth open in a scream that made no sound.

"He is the last wound," the fire whispered. "You are the knife meant to reopen it."

Her body trembled.

And then—

Footsteps.

Steel-shod. Controlled.

She did not look.

She did not need to.

"I thought you feared the dark," she said, her voice low, as the flames hissed behind her.

A pause. Then:

"Only when it lies."

Aemond.

He entered the chamber like a shadow solidified—silent, uninvited, and utterly certain he belonged.

His gaze was not curious. It was consuming.

She still knelt, but did not yield. "This place is not for you."

"Then why does it call to me?"

He stepped closer. The flames danced around him, casting cruel light over his face. The sapphire glinted, its sharp edges refracting runes. His living eye gleamed not with lust—but with hunger of another kind.

"You're trespassing."

"I'm obeying."

"Whose command?"

He looked at the fire. "Yours."

Emberyn rose. Slowly. Powerfully. Her cloak fell back, revealing the glowing mark at her sternum.

Aemond’s breath caught.

Not in shock.

But in need.

Not desire—not yet. It was something darker. Older.

He stepped closer. Closer.

"You were not what I expected," he said.

"And you were exactly what I feared."

Aemond tilted his head. "Yet you let me near."

"Perhaps I wanted to see what kind of monster I was dealing with."

"And?"

She held his gaze. "You hide your teeth well."

He was close enough now that she could feel the heat rolling off him. Or maybe it was her own. Their flames did not repel.

They pulled.

Aemond’s hand twitched.

He wanted to touch her.

To feel if her skin was truly fire or just memory made flesh.

But he didn’t.

He could not afford to lose control.

Because if he touched her, he would not stop.

And she—

She would let him burn.

The runes hissed louder. The air cracked like kindling.

Her voice, low and unafraid: "Is this what you came to find, Prince?"

His answer came not with words, but in the way he stepped back.

An inch. A breath. But it felt like war.

"No," he said. "This is what I was sent to destroy."

Emberyn smiled—slow, sharp.

"Then you best pray you never forget how to kneel."

The chamber flared with sudden light. The flames surged up the walls, casting dragon-shadows across the ceiling.

And in the space between breath and blade, between prophecy and pride, two heirs of lost empires stood locked in something that was not yet love, but already ruin.

Neither spoke again.

But neither forgot the moment.

The runes remembered.

And the mountain breathed.

Functional Apparel Objects Apparel objects are debug items and show up as “clothing pile” in the catalog (Misc > Dressers). They must be placed on one of the DEBUG displays/shelves or they’ll float. Once purchased, take them out of the sim’s inventory and choose from one of the following: Purchase Clothing. Select an outfit (or several) of any type. Each apparel object is worth §100 towards the TOTAL cost. Sims save more money (and your businesses make more money) if they use one apparel object per new outfit. Sell. ohh i see! ty for clarifying ^^ forgive me bc this is gonna be long and i have MANY thoughts

i actually really loved this episode a lot?? in terms of actual gameplay content i think i even enjoyed this more than TOR, (excluding out of game elements of the event like the animations) and considering my main gripes with episode 1 was how short it was, this ep being 50+ minutes in total definitely solved that problem i had!!

i really enjoy the pacing of everything so far, even if im kind of confused on if our choices actually impact anything? i think part of it is explained by orpheus clearly trying to manipulate what alice does in certain parts of the game like confronting frederick, but others seem like its just the option of choices getting in the way of the game's v obvious linear storytelling lol. i hope that the choices that affect relationships actually serve a purpose long-term

i was wondering how they were going to include mary in the main lore considering for years she's only really been a retelling of marie antoinette's history, but honestly? i love that they fleshed her out into her own character being mary de capet instead of just marie antoinette, and she has her own lore with the racecourse and frederick too. i loved the chase between her and alice sm, and it was interesting how it turned out that in actuality it was *frederick* that alice was hallucinating as mary

anyways mary showing up in HD and having a badass entrace was very cool

also i think everyone knew frederick was going to be taken out somehow and i like that its very open ended what happened to him so far? personally think he might've gotten killed or something after alice fainted at the racecourse, since his stuff was still in his room + Norton is very obviously his replacement at the end (him sitting in fred's chair). plus i think game participants only get replaced if they die, like what happened with servais replacing murro after he got killed by naib

I was REALLY hyped to see the secret medicine lab return from TOR!! and i like that alice used the same rat testing method detective did back then too lol. what really piqued my interest was realizing that when she starts hallucinating and runs away from fool's gold, it wouldn't make sense bc she wouldn't have met him until breakfast the next day. but then when you look at the figure who forced her to drink the drugs to knock her out, if u look close enough it's clearly Norton.

seems like he is working with orpheus at least to the degree that he knows what to do down in the lab by himself, which is interesting and explains why alice would hallucinate FG before actually being introduced to norton the next day.

also considering orpheus chloroformed alice while she was hallucinating before she woke up strapped to the chair and norton made her forget what happened, p much spells theyre working together imo?

overall i really like that this episode leaves you with just as many questions as it did answers (mainly about frederick) and im very curious how they explore melly and orpheus's ACTUAL involvement in the manor games, considering its p obvious theyre both lying to alice in the bedroom scene. have my thoughts on orpheus's actual deal w the forest ranger he mentions but this post is already long enough lol. i hope melly gets more spotlight next episode 🙏
