Been reading Mat Brinkman for the first time. A couple of the recent @hollow_press rereleases, plus the TCJ Fort Thunder issue. This is a member of the Crud Club from Teratoid Heights. Loving these comics, but wish I could have read them when they came out and had my mind blown extra hard. 'Fireball' by Brian Ralph

I found this comic at a record/clothing store in Olympia, Washington, somewhere around 2001/2002 I think?!?  I was out there crashing on couches and doing drugs and working at a bathtub factory in nearby Yelm. Everyone told me that the town of Yelm was home to a strange cult that worshipped the color green but I never came across them.  I was fascinated by it, though, and always wanted to find them because back in my early teens when I worked as a bag boy at Meijer in Michigan there was this lady who would come into the store who worshipped the color green.  She was in her late sixties and always came in with her husband, who suffered from dementia.  She wore only green, as did he, and drove a car that she had painted green with housepaint.  On top of the coating of paint, the car was covered in scripture and bible verse written in green puffy paint that gave the car an odd look and texture.  You didn't realize it was script until getting up close.  Her house was painted entirely green, as was everything in it.  They were quite dirty, didn't seem to take care of themselves too well.  She said that god came to her in a vision one day, one particularly rough day after taking care of her husband, and proclaimed to her that she would be one of the operators of the "safe houses" after armageddon, that she should paint her home and everything in it green and wear only green because after armageddon came the good christian survivors would be instructed to go to the 'green homes', of which there were many all over the world, for safety and shelter.  She was to be a caretaker and usher in the new world after armageddon.  I don't know what happened to her, last I heard they had deemed her unfit to take care of her husband and took him away and put him in a home.  That was something like 20 years ago, they're both probably dead now.
