this is gonna be a quickie in 20 minutes i gotta go to therapy and i would rather die than write this on my phone

speaking of deltarune. anyone else think long and hard about the fact that the player in the hex is almost CERTAINLY an actual in-game character ?

like with pony island, it's clear you are playing as "theodore" [i dont 100% trust allat because honestly we can't even be sure the devil is actually THE devil that they call themself], with all the player character vessels mostly being just that. and in inscryption they are certainly just vessels because if they were alive they literally have no reason to pretend not to be. nobody is hiding it from luke because hes a dumbass [affection]

but like. the player character in the hex, on a surface level, is just our self insert. but, daniel mullins doesn't DO that. we are almost always playing a CHARACTER.

but, we literally have... no details. on this player character. but, that's because they aren't a youtuber or a trapped soul or anything. why and how would they make themself known?? the six pint inn residents certainly can't know about our character either. i dont even think sado knows‚ or is particularly interested in finding out, about the player character.

but, they ARE aware of a player character controlling them at all times.

i will probably make another post later but i particularly like the "relationship" between the player and fpp: if catarina is correct, fpp is not happy about having a player controling them period. she says protagonist, and in the game-sense, fpp already is. so, what she more means is probably that fpp wants to have their own story not tethered to any kind of game. thats So Interesting. nobody else seems to give a shit.

fpp is honestly more of a character with expressiveness than anyone else. if they want to be their own thing, that makes so much sense. they're fighting the idea they need to be some sort of vessel, not for lionel, not for walk players, AND NOT FOR YOU.

this could also be why they seemingly are the only character able to obtain other endings: The Themes. they "make" those endings because they know you're really there for the "true" ending. anything you want‚ they oppose.

Six minor details that I love in The Hex:

Saying ‘for Mir’s sake’ instead of ‘for god’s sake’ because Vallamir is the closest thing to a god in the video game universe.

When a character goes from being a small sprite to normal they’re ✨Decompressed✨

“Let’s press forward.” (-Jeremiah in Vicious Galaxy) GET IT? PRESS FORWARD?? ON DA KEYBOARD???
