A few hours is all it took for me to read Fragile Hearts. I love that the Poplar Falls series is now following the “next” generation of girls, Elle and her friends. Out of the trio, Bellamy’s story is the one I looked forward to the most and it did not disappoint!

Amber Kelly does a wonderful job at taking romantic tropes and twisting them in opposite ways. I love LOVE second chance romances and though Bellamy and Brandt weren’t past lovers, they each had second chance at falling in love.

Burnt Sienna: Favorite smell?

I really like the smell of eucalyptus. (I spelled that without autocorrect, I’m so proud.) It’s a very calming scent to me, and it helps me a lot when I can’t sleep or when I’m feeling stressed. 

Pear: Where do you feel rested?

I never feel completely rested. Ever. But, I do feel most content and able to sleep on/near the beach. The ocean is soothing and constantly rhythmic background noise, and the overall feel of it is relaxing, so I’m more likely to drift off there than anywhere else. We have a summer condo in North Carolina, and I get more rest in a week there than I do the rest of the year.

Lavender: What is your favorite time of day?

Dusk. I like seeing the change in the sky, and I like the moment when the sun hasn’t completely set but you can already see the first stars coming out. It’s our world going to sleep and a completely different one waking up, and that to me is an incredibly special thing to experience.

Pink Nectar: What’s your aesthetic?

I would have been very disappointed if you hadn’t asked this one, Alex. I have to say “soft but sharp”. I like the look of “I care too much but I can also tear you apart if I really wanted to.” And then, because to me color makes all the difference, I’ve recently found that blue and gold is a very aesthetically pleasing mix to me. (I am really bad at actually describing my aesthetic, what is going on)

Thistle: If you could become wise, rich, or intelligent, which would you rather?

My self-esteem is screaming intelligent, but for the sake of honesty and reasoning I would have to say wise. Intelligence is just book knowledge and logic. There’s nothing wrong with that, but it can make a person insensitive because they’ll start to rely only on facts. Wisdom, on the other hand, is a mixture of feeling and thinking, and it’s more of a worldly intelligence that, rather than making a person at risk of becoming hard and cold, makes them warmer and softer towards other people. You’re still intelligent, you just also look at your own personal beliefs alongside fact, and I feel like its much more broad of an intelligence.

„caught between a strong mind and a fragile heart“

one of the downsides of being highly sensitive is that I tend to take my surroundings emotions personal. that means when a person I care for has a bad mood or day I instantly take this emotion in and feel bad, sad or if I did something wrong. which leads to me taking myself back in order to not annoy anybody. it results into this super weird mode where I move around as if something is about to burst - I barely talk and if needed only very silently, I can‘t answer questions properly as I‘m afraid to make the mood even worse with my answer, I try to take myself out of the situation as I get super anxious. which - of course - makes the other person believe something is up with me, I‘m mad or whatever. perfect fertile soil for misunderstandings. I try to communicate this feeling as good as I can but this kind of behavior seems to be incredibly confusing for people and to be honest I can‘t always expect people to consider my twisted feelings or always be happy and bubbly around me so I don‘t feel bad. that‘s just not how it works and I wouldn‘t even want that either.

all I can do is reflect, try to ignore the voices in my head taking it all personally and move on. (which of course doesn‘t work but that‘s not my point lol)
