The Tintin Timeline
So the Tintin canon continuity is, uh, a mess. It's a "floating timeline" specifically, which is a literary term for when serialized media takes place during the present of whenever it's being worked on. However, nobody seems to have taken a look at the exact timeline within the canon, and exactly how long the stories take place within Tintin's life. All of the following data is approximate, with most of it taken from the setting boxes (i.e. "Two days later") and by studying how many nights pass within each story.
A quick note: Certain spans of time in the book are designated with vague quantifiers, such as “several” or “a few”. However, 7 days is always designated with “a week”. I explain my estimation where necessary, but I usually see the former spans as being within 3-5 days. Again, these are all approximations and I am not claiming any sort of canon declaration; these are presented for entertainment purposes.
Land of the Soviets: 9 days
Congo: 22 days (Tintin spends at least 17 days in the Congo, while his journey there on the boat is said to take “several days”. Given the mode of transport and the distance, I have estimated it as being about 5 days.)
America: approx. 3 weeks (20-23 days)
Cigars: approx. 2 weeks (15-18 days)
Blue Lotus: approx. 4 weeks (25-30 days)
The Broken Ear: approx. 6 weeks (39-42 days)
Black Island: 7 days
Ottokar: approx. 2 weeks (14-15 days)
Crab: approx. 2 weeks (13-14 days)
Shooting Star: approx. 5 weeks (the main story elapses over 20 days; the last page has a scene “some weeks” later, which I interpreted as a fortnight)
Unicorn: approx. 10 days
Rackham: approx. 48 days (The main story seems to elapse over 45 days, and the last page seems to happen some days later)
Seven Crystal Balls: 9 days
Prisoners of the Sun: at least 41 (there are three unaccounted-for periods, when 1. Tintin’s group is climbing the mountains [“days go by” until “one morning”, which I interpreted as being at least 3 days], 2. when they trek through the jungle [”the days go by”, again 3 days], and 3. at the end of the book [”several days later”, interpreted as 6 days])
Black Gold: approx. 27 days (13 days + “some weeks” estimated as a fortnight. The ensuing album opens with Haddock and Tintin returning home, where they hear Calculus has been gone since three weeks before)
Destination Moon: approx. 144 days (This one has the larges jumps in time. The first 36 pages happen over 41 days, then “some months” pass, estimated at 3)
Explorers: 10 days
Calculus Affair: 11 days
Red Sea Sharks: 30 days
Tibet: 33 days
Castafiore Emerald: at least 21 days (there are 18 accounted-for days, and then a period indicated just with “The days go by”. Given how most time lapses in the book are spans of 3 days, this period was at least three days long as well)
Flight 714 to Sydney: 1 day + 7 days (main story; pages 60-62 take place about a week later)
Picaros: 15 days
Total: The events of the The Adventures of Tintin take place over approximately 613 days.
But is it a linear timeline? We have no word on how much time passes between each album, but we’ll add at least one week between each one - except for America/Cigars/Lotus, Destination/Explorers, Crystal/Prisoners, and Unicorn/Rackham - just to give each album’s settings enough time to transition into a new story. This gives us an additional 17 weeks (17 x 7 days). With all of this calculated together, the series happens over the course of approximately 2 years, 2 days...at least, according to a bored fan who likes to count (ง ื▿ ื)ว

Tintin's blue jumper/white shirt/brown trousers ensemble first appears at the end of The Secret of the Unicorn. He keeps the look in its sequel Red Rackham's Treasure and from then onward (although his trousers change from plus fours to flared in Tintin and the Picaros).

Tintin Character Requests! Pt. 1
The series where I draw Tintin characters in funky little outfits cuz they truly are funky little characters
In the first picture, we've got toxic yaoi, well, no, the first request was these two on their own but because I love them so much and their interactions in the 2011 movie I drew them together, and wow I am actually quite proud of how it ended up looking like!!!!! (Probably one of my favorite out of this batch of sketches)
Ty @mis3rabl3m3lody and @libraryidealist for the request!!!
Aaand behind curtain number 2, we've got certified best boy, Chang!!!! Where is he running off to? Idk. I would be embarrassed to admit how much time I spent figuring out how running looks like cuz I just suddenly forgot wtf running looks like
Ty @myfunnyvalentine !!! For the request!! You seemed quite enthusiastic
Next up, we've got AHHHHH MY SILLY MY GOOFY MY FAVORITE MANIC PIXIE DREAM GIRL!!!! PROFESSOR CALCULUS!!!! I drew him in polite little vest and turtleneck combo and some patterned pants, politely waving at you! I was watching a few episodes recently and AGEHHDHDHH I FORGOT JUST HOW ENTERTAINING AND AMAZING AND ICONIC THIS MAN IS he's so silly he's a genius he has no idea what's going on most of the time <3333 we need him in the hypothetical 2011 sequel (it's coming guys trust me)
Ty @unlikelyintelligent and @akasanata for the request!!
TADAAA!!!! IT'S GENERAL ALCAZAR!!! ok. As you know I've only recently started coming back to Tintin, and I'm ngl I forgot who general alcazar was. Then I watched Tintin and the picaros and pretty quickly I remembered. THIS GUY WAS SO COOL. my dumb kid brain didn't entirely grasp what was going on in that episode, BUT NOW I DO KNOW. AND WOW THIS EPISODE WAS WILD. every Tintin episode is on a spectrum of insane but this one tips closer to the more unhinged end. GENERAL ALCAZAR IS SO BADASS, HES LEADING A REVOLUTION, HE'S A MALE WIFE, HE IS A PRESIDENT NOW??? I miss the guy. ALSO I LOVE HIS DESIGN.
(Also if your wondering if every Tintin post I make I'll include a tangent of just gushing about how much I love some aspect of Tintin you better get used to it cuz I love rambling about how much I love Tintin)
Ty @tintinology for the request!!! AARRRGHRHRHHH GENERAL ALCAZAR!!!!!!
here's a couple characters ik little about, ik they were the original antagonists of the secret of the unicorn but that's about it! It's the bird brothers!!!! They're in some fancy suits, judging everyone they pass, their probably grumbling about something. From their appearance they look like their never happy sjhfjdjf
Ty @jimmyandthegiraffes for the request! :D
And last but definitely not least, IT'S JOLYON WAGG!!!!! if only the editing was better so you could bask in his graceful and obnoxious glory. I really like his voice! I really like his wardrobe! And he is some sort of anomaly to me, hes just popping up in the most random times, and most of the time it's to be an annoying little bitch (endearing), he has a medal of honor btw! If I ever met him, I would at first be very charmed, but then realize this is an entirely one sided conversation that'll go on for hours and hours that I won't be leaving anytime soon, and when I eventually get home I'll be completely exhausted by how much social energy I was using up just trying to keep up and look like I was really really invested in whatever this man was rambling about
But anyway he's silly and whimsical so I still really like him
Aaannnddd that's it folks! I'll eventually work on the other requests I have!!!! Have a good evening!!!!!

i finally started my tintin stats project, where i go thru each book from soviets to picaros and tally up certain things with the occasional note. im mostly doing it for fanfic, cosplay and headcanon reasons, and was just going to do it and then post my findings book by book but then i thought well. it's kind of a resource, and people might have specific things they want to know.
so far my categories are:
vehicles - what vehicles he travels in, which ones he drives, any crashes
health - when he sleeps, if he snores, if he dreams, if he has nightmares; any injuries and what kinds; any time he loses consciousness and the cause; when he eats and what he eats, what he enjoys eating and what he doesn't; any time he gets drunk
any time he is violent to another person
physical activity - any time he swims, climbs a tree, rides a horse
the law - any time he is arrested (including attempted arrests), imprisoned, sentenced to death, or joins an army
emotions - when he cries and about what; when he laughs and about what; when he gets angry, at whom and why; when he is visibly afraid and of what; when he prays; when he sings or dances
le petit vingtieme - any time he actually writes an article lol
QUIFF DOWN!!! - any time his quiff is down lol. this is kind of a joke one bc this only happens generally if he's soaking wet but also i think its funny any time it happens so its getting tallied
at a later point i'm also going to chart the passage of time across each adventure so i can have a rought idea of how long each story lasts. in a similar vein, i'm also going to chart what clothes he wears and whether he still owns them at the end of the album (sounds weird lol but he goes thru SO many different outfits in soviets just bc people keep blowing him up and wrecking his clothes lmao. and at the end of congo he returns to belgium with only a rifle and the clothes he's wearing). i might later add things like, any time certain characters appear, but im still early on and he doesnt know anyone yet lol
essentially, i just finished doing this for congo, so before i get any further are there any other things people would like to see tallied/noted? i am doing this so u dont have to (:

❤️ for tintin if you're still doing the unpopular opinions ask game
OH RIGHT THIS GAME! OF COURSE! THANK YOU 💕
❤: Which character do you think is the most egregiously mischaracterized by the fandom?
*deep sigh* The most huh? What if I said Tintin himself? Look, I'm not against fanon interpretations and just going against canon because that's what you like and want to do. However, it gets really annoying when people take some interpretations as canon when it's actually not canon or, even if it is, not in the entirety of canon. And I think a big reason this happens with Tintin is because of the animated series, you know the classic one. Let me elaborate.
For many fans the cartoon series was their first approach to The Adventures of Tintin and for many of them it was a childhood favorite. This alone creates a bias, realizing it or not, especially if you haven't read the comics, the original material. Don't get me wrong, I love the cartoon and it's the most faithful adaptation we have of the comics but that doesn't mean it is faithful. Many scenes were cut, violence and alcoholism were limited to the point of changing scenes entirely (I'm looking at you Crab with the golden claws), heck even the official order of the episodes doesn't match the original publication order. There are many reasons for these decisions to have been made and it doesn't mean they're wrong, they just worked for this kind of media and for their target audience at that time (90s cartoons had many limitations regarding what it could be shown, including violence, but that's how we got artists getting creative with how to depict violent themes in a nonviolent way). Yet I have seen fans taking the ideas of this cartoon as if they are the original ones.
Tintin isn't a goody shoes. Tintin is very kind and caring but also chaotic and with his own values and ethics. He doesn't curse out loud and he represses many of his feelings and anger but he is also very patient and understanding. And most of all HE HAS CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT! Tintin from the first albums and Tintin in the last ones isn't the same guy! I understand people liking his character more in the first adventures but you can't characterize him the same in the later albums. And it's not only because decades passed during the serialization and Herge as an artist and writer changed. It's also showcased in the story, Tintin slowly gets stable companions, friends he shares his adventures and even his life and slowly he becomes mellower and yet more open and honest, he likes his peaceful life and doesn't chase adventure unless it comes to him. How can you have Tintin after Picaros behaving like prior meeting Haddock? As if his previous adventures didn't happen and affect him?
And what the cartoon depiction of Tintin does is to take his softer and calmer traits of his character and show them during all his adventures, regardless of how he acted at each adventure. This works for making an iconic and stable hero of a cartoon but it's not like that in the comics. The movie does the opposite but I see more fans accusing it of mischaracterization although this wilder side is also part of Tintin.
So in summary, my annoyance comes when I see Tintin characterized the same throughout all his adventures although this isn't how he is in the comics and I think this is because of the effect the cartoon had on the fans. In my opinion, Tintin's character is hard to grasp and get because he's the two ends of a spectrum at the same time, calm but violent, patient but impatient (his limits are known to himself only, you can try to kill him and not yell at you but you try to kill yourself and he'll make you regret it), selfless to the point of not caring about himself but selfish enough to do what he wants and believes is right etc.
He's such a fascinating character with many layers and it makes me sad when I see people read him as one dimensional character with no space for changes and development. However every person can have their own interpretation and such and I'm not the fandom police here so go have your fun!

💌 and 🌷for Tintin? [+bonus for gush pass if you like, I have no clue what this character is like from the source so..inform me!]
Tumblr media
thank y'all so much for the asks!! can do! I love talking about my goofy reporter guy <3
💌- how do you communicate while your apart? do you give eachother notes/letters? or do can you text eachother?
LETTERS. LETTERS ALL THE WAY. the tintin universe most definitely takes place before cellphones are a Thing (the last fully finished tintin comic, tintin and the picaros, was published in 1976), so texting isn't really an option. of course phone calls could be possible, but with how much tintin travels around the world, all those long-distance calls would get expensive fast! letters are much easier to opt for. :)
besides, I find it adorable to imagine us writing long and sappy letters about how much we miss eachother and how we can't wait to see eachother again! 🥺💖 I would worry about him a lot and always ask him if he's doing okay and make sure he hasn't gotten himself into too much trouble (but this is tintin... that's unavoidable! XD)
🌷- do you two like to spend time outside? or would you rather stay inside together?
he's a MUCH more 'active' person than I am, so he would absolutely prefer to drag me outside with him, hah! he enjoys bringing me with him on hikes and long walks and he loves picnics with me - of course he brings snowy along too. ^_^
AND THE GUSH PASS. THE GUSH PASS. THANK YOU NICOLE. YOU HAVE JUST UNLEASHED A BEAST WITHIN ME BECAUSE ONCE I START YAPPING YOU'RE NEVER GONNA GET ME TO SHUT UP WHICH IS WHY I'm putting this under a readmore because I like Talking.
who is tintin, first of all? why, tintin is a world famous reporter! and for good reason - there's nothing he can't do and no mystery he can't solve!
though he resides in brussels, belgium, he regularly travels all over the globe in search of adventure and people to help with his faithful dog snowy (milou in french, the original language of the comics)!
Tumblr media
he's kindhearted, selfless, heroic, and he's always looking out for those who are less fortunate than him. though he works as a reporter, he's not seen very often actually writing reports - he spends most of his time making the headlines rather than writing them! seriously, you would not believe the amount of drug trafficking rings this guy has busted, LMAO.
he's... more or less Perfect in that he, as a character, barely has any flaws. he's got RIDICULOUS plot armour and can get himself out of pretty much any situation. he's very talented!!
I LOVE HIM A LOT. I admire him. he's wonderful. I was very curious about him for a long time (particularly the past few recent years, as though I saw him in passing as a kid I didn't really care, LOL - I was never much of a reader), and I kinda had a feeling that I would Really Like Him A Lot if I knew more about the series, and, well... I sure was right hAH. my friends teased me a lot when I first told them because he's EXACTLY my type and they could've seen it coming from a mile away! XD
HE MAKES ME SO, SO HAPPY. HE'S BROUGHT SO MUCH JOY INTO MY LIFE DURING A PERIOD OF TIME WHERE I'VE REALLY NEEDED IT. I'm so thankful 💖💖💖

1, 11, 31 and 36 from Tintin asks
1. Fave villain?
I would have to say Müller. He's so sinister and cynical compared to the other Tintin villains. Like, he was going to send Tintin to a mental asylum and has man traps scattered about his lawns. He's creative in various villainous aspects, he a desperate and he hates Tintin's guts. I do wish we could have seen more of him honestly.
11. Top 3 side characters?
Excluding Chang and Bianca because they're so fabulous and their amazingness hardly needs to be mentioned:
King Muskar. Like, he's so calm and clear-headed, he seems like such an amazing and cool guy and I wanna see more on him.
Mrs Finch. I have a personal bias for housekeepers/landladies who have slightly problematic tenants but who deal with them anyway (looking at you Mrs Hall from All Creatures Great and Small.) I love her in the animated movie because the small snippet we see of her, she 1. Respects that Tintin needs space and privacy and sleep at night and 2. Deals with people being shot on her doorstep and still lets the root of the problem live in the building.
(Also, she looks quite a bit like Mrs Hall. I can't get a good image of Mrs Finch, but here's Mrs Hall so you can see)
Tumblr media
LIKE HELLO??? POP ON A PAIR OF GLASSES AND VOILA
Anyway moving on-
Nestor. The guy is a crack up and I love him for it. I also have a thing for older butlers who remain so calm and stoic despite their chaotic masters (*cough cough* Mr Butler from Miss Fisher *cough.) I love him
31. Moment you wish could have happened?
Gosh, I don't know. I would have liked to see Tintin after the whole Ottokar's Sceptre because I LIVE for exhausted, starving characters finally getting relief and I'd love to see Muskar finally noticing how tired Tintin is and demanding he has a hot bath, a warm dinner and a solid night's sleep.
I also would have liked to seen Tintin fretting about his friends in the Picaros when Calculus and Haddock went without him because we didn't get a full explanation as to why he joined them and I would have loved to have seen his thought process and the tug of war between staying in safety or be with his friends. (Perhaps he thought himself a coward for staying back. He seems like the kind of person to beat himself up about that.)
Basically, I want more of tintin being vulnerable, but hey, that's why we have fanfiction.
36. Which version of Tintin is your favourite?
I'm interpreting this as favourite adaptation, which I'd have to say is the animated film because it looks most like how I envision him and because they show the more vulnerable side of tintin when he's realised that he's "failed" and he beats himself up about it. I also love the BBC radio dramatization I found on archive.org because LET ME TELL YOU THAT THE STORIES GET FAR MORE INTEMSE WHEN YOU HEAR TINTIN SCREAMING WHEN HE GETS SHOT (it's a yell scream but it still caught me off guard) so good man
I also love Jean-Paul Talbot. Just in general. I love him.

Welcome to Tintin and the Picaros, in which Tintin coup d'états a small South-American country, and the last Tintin book I will be reviewing.
There is still Alph-Art, but as an unfinished work I consider it unfair to judge it against the standards of Hergé’s unfinished works, and besides, I haven’t a copy of any of the attempts to complete it.
As to what I will do after this, I’ve a few ideas, and for all two of my followers, there will be a poll to decide if I cannot myself, and there will be a transitional period with other, more… spontaneous content, delivered at regular intervals.
Plot-line
So General Alcazar’s been deposed, again, by General Tapioca, again, but none of that matters because Bianca Castafiore, henceforth referred to as White, is going there in tour, but that also doesn’t matter, because Haddock’s had a violent reaction to some Whiskey, and can’t drink it anymore, but that doesn’t matter either, because White’s been arrested for conspiracy to overthrow Tapioca, and Tintin&Co are named as co-conspirators in the plot, and so they promptly fly off to San Theodoros, at Tapioca’s invitation.
Arriving, we’re treated to views of the modern city-scapes, high-rise buildings, flags from every roof-top, and the slums.
However, Tintin’s not come, only Haddock and Calculus, but that doesn’t matter, as that’s all the more heavily-guarded villa half an hour from civilisation for the rest of them.
The next day, Haddock goes out to buy some Tobacco, accompanied by no less than 14 armed guards, but on getting home, Tintin’s arrived.
There we go, we’re set up for the action to begin, wasn’t that frantic?
So all of a sudden, Pablo, whom you may remember from all the way back in book six, feels like a lifetime ago, doesn’t it?
Anyway, back on track, Pablo has replaced their previous servant, who’s left from slight injury, and informs them of a plot to kill the three, and blame it on the Picaros, however, there’s a counter-plan, the next day, they are to visit a pyramid, they are to take that moment to act, climbing the pyramid to get out of sight of their guards, Picaros attack one side, they go down the other side, and be picked up by Alcazar.
If this plan sounds like it’s utterly appalling, don’t worry, there’s a reason for that.
So they execute said plan flawlessly, however, a anti-tank gun lying in waiting, hidden in some bushes, almost kills them, but Tintin notices a monkey run away from it, and makes Alcazar swerve off the road, narrowly sparing their lives, but getting their truck blown up.
So, they then walk, and walk, and walk walk walk walk, until the sudden arrival of Ridgewell, who you may also remember from book six, and so they stay with the Arumbayas for a night, in which Calculus makes use of a drug of his own creation in order to make the Arumbayas, as well as Ridgewell, Tintin, and presumably Alcazar and Calculus himself, allergic, so to speak, to alcohol.
This causes a rather eventful dinner, however off they go the next day, after some minor troubles, they reach the camp of the Picaros, and see before them a crowd of drunkards, unfit to hold a gun, much less fight a war with them.
So, Tintin makes use of Calculus’ pills to prevent such negative behaviour, but only after convincing Alcazar that the reveolotuion must be bloodless, no executions, which Alcazar objects to, however a tear gas grenade convinces him otherwise, and so it is done.
At that point, a busload of tourists enters the camp, including our old friend, sketchy insurance salesman Jolyon Wagg, who’s touring with his carnival act, the Jolly Follies, who just so happen to wear costumes that entirely obscure the wearer’s face, not to mention having plenty of spare baggy space.
So they get them drunk, steal their costumes, and their bust, head off to the carnival, chloroform their way inside the palace, take over, make Tapioca give a speech on the radio handing over power, they save the Thom(p)sons from the firing-squad by the metaphorical bell, riding on a parade float.
The day is won, White is saved, Alcazar is in commands once again, inside his empty palace, and we fly back home again, over the very same slums.
Characters
So, Alcazar and Tapioca.
Throughout all the books both appear in, neither of them do anything to really differentiate each other as rulers, we never see the true state of the country under their respective rules, other than two key panels: the views of the slums.
Both when Tintin&Co arrive and leave we get a view of a slum, not the same one mind, at least from what we can see, but both are pretty much identical in every way, other than once change: Billboards reading “Viva Tapioca” are changed to “Viva Alcazar”.
Now, you may say, “Alcazar’d only been in power for a few days, you can’t expect him to solve things overnight!”, a strawman which completely misses the point.
These are not there to show you that slums exist, or that they do not change, but rather, they are symbolic, pay attention to the change of the sign, the leader’s changed, the living condition hasn’t.
If, from this, we make the assumption that Alcazar and Tapioca are equally as bad as each other, does that not make the efforts of Tintin throughout the book meaningless?
Perhaps it does, perhaps it doesn’t, and perhaps, that is what Hergé wanted us to think.
Things I like
Again, I face the issue of so much good stuff, it’s hard to cover all of it, so I shall cherry-pick one sequence, the escape via pyramid.
When first re-reading, in preparation to write this, the plan came off as utterly terrible, if there’s an attack on one side, why would you assume they won’t attack the other side too, why play right into their hands like that?
Well, of course, it’s all a setup so of course they’ll move, and on a base level, serves to tip the reader off to it.
Then, there’s how Tintin spots the gun, an older, weaker, book would have had the gun fail (see The Calculus Affair), or some other unrealistic method, whereas here, Tintin spots something in the road, uses binoculars to identify it as a monkey, then, when it bolts off from something, instinctively tells something’s wrong, and then gets Alcazar to swerve off the road.
Just this one sequence shows Hergé’s improvement as a writer, even in the last few books.
Things I don't
If you don’t’ know the drill by this point, you should, but fine, I’ll explain, these are key, fundamental, core, flaws of the book, and make it utterly unreadable
Wait, there’s nothing?
No small flaws?
No nitpicks?
No comedic rule of three?
I don’t know how I’m going to cope with this, media being without small, sefl-contained, flaws that are easy to digest and understand.
Troublesome bits
Well, as normal, nothing blatant, however, I do suspect the Arumbayas are less than accurate, for the four pages they appear, but I am not an expect on the matter.
Silly bits
White, despite being only an opera singer, owns millions of dollars worth of jewels
Haddock refers to Tapioca as a “fancy-dress fascist”, should add that one to my vocabulary
Haddock, just a few days after calling Tapioca a fascist, says “he isn’t a bad old stick really”
Calculus says “I'm sorry, officer, but I cannot shake a hand which grinds underfoot the imprescriptible rights of the human individual!” when introduced to one of Tapioca’s henchmen
Snowy, much like Haddock, considers a Pimiento to be very spicy, despite them being 500SHU at most
When prompted for famous last words, Thomson suggests “Kiss me, Thompson”, this may imply… homosexuality
Conclusion
As a send-off for Tintin, I think it’s spectacular, comparing it against the very first book, Tintin in The Land of The Soviets, it is effectively unrecognisable, even more modern books such as Prisoners Of The Sun are notably behind it

It’s Tintin Day again! °˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖°
This month I’m rereading Tintin and the Picaros, which is another volume I have a real soft spot for. I can never get over how shamelessly Tintin manipulates Alcazar into being a good person - he has to promise he won’t shoot anyone or Tintin won’t help him stage his coup! >:0

In 2015, an international group of doctors catalogued Tintin's recorded health problems (from Soviets through Picaros) in a more thorough and less tongue-in-cheek study than Cyr et al. (2004) and published it under the title "Tintin’s travel traumas: Health issues affecting the intrepid globetrotter."
I cite from the abstract:
"We found 236 events leading to 244 HIs, 13 kidnappings, six hospitalisations and two surgical procedures. There was a median of eight HIs/adventure (range 1-30/adventure). The mean number of HIs per adventure was much greater before 1945 than subsequently (14.9 v 6.1; p 0.002), which was also true of the number of kidnappings (11 v 2; p 0.001). Of the 244 HIs, there were 191 cases of trauma (78.3%) and 53 non-traumatic problems (21.7%). The most common form of trauma was concussion (62%), whereas the most common forms of non-traumatic problems were sleep problems (15.1%), depression/anxiety (13%), and gas or chloroform poisoning (13%). Overall, we found 46 losses of consciousness (LoC), including 29 traumatic and 17 non-traumatic LoCs. Of the 236 events, there were 69 (29%) perpetrated by others against Tintin (including 55 homicide attempts), and 167 (71%) events that were not (including 69 events related to Tintin's actions)."
And as for head injuries: "Overall there were 118 cases of concussion (112 concussion alone, and six associated with polytrauma) accounting for 48.4% of all HI." Concussion grade was determined according to "an “Hergé” grading system" based on "clinically evident post-traumatic signs (symbols surrounding Tintin‟s head after trauma): stars (grade I), whirls or candles (grade II), and LoCs (grades III and IV according to duration)."
The tables showing the detailed results are reproduced below.

Kinda funny that it took Hergé almost 5 months to give Haddock a name and 34 years to give him a first name

1, 17, 18 and 27 from Tintin asks
1. Fave villain?
Everyone else goes for the big Billionaire shark Roberto Rastapopoulos (for reasons that I can agree are pretty relevant to what's been happening rn), but for me it's pretty much Dr. Müller since his debut in The Black Island (most fave Tintin story for me HANDS DOWN). Him faking money to stir up economy trouble and being responsible for a huge petroleum tampering scandal that would've started another war, he's a mean guy who had motives were/might be relevant to what's been going on with the world.
17. A character you relate to?
I gotta say, Nestor! He's just doing his job humbly as a butler, sometimes he gets into REALLY clumsy moments (see The Red Sea Sharks and Tintin and the Picaros), but after all of that montgomery, he's still doing the usual normal chores that I also do IRL; keeping things tidy around the house, helping others around, being kind and mindful. He doesn't go on adventures, but he does gets a good time just kicking back, relaxing, and doing the usual mop the floor every third Saturday ⁽ᵉˣᶜˡᵘᵈᶦⁿᵍ ᵗʰᵃᵗ ᵒⁿᵉ ᵗᶦᵐᵉ ʷʰᵉⁿ ᴬᵇᵈᵘˡˡᵃʰ’ˢ ˢᵗᵃʸ ᵃᵗ ᴹᵃʳˡᶦⁿˢᵖᶦᵏᵉ ᴴᵃˡˡ ʷᵃˢ ˢᵒ ᶜʰᵃᵒᵗᶦᶜ ᶠᵒʳ ᵖᵒᵒʳ ᴺᵉˢᵗᵒʳ⁾ .Maybe I am a Nestor myself. :)
18. A character you wish you got to see more of?
I'd yearn to learn more of Captain Haddock's old pal Chester, and Prof. Calculus's old pal Prof. Tarragon; I'd be curious to learn about these old men's old colleagues from their younger years, how they met and what made them best pals :)
27. Funniest Tintin moment(s)?
The Red Sea Sharks have the funniest panels ever and that's why it's one of my favorite Tintin adventures.

I really enjoy The Red Sea Sharks simply for its pure chaotic energy compared to the other stories.
Also this Flight 714 moment with a very pissed off Calculus is very funny to everyone; like Do Not make the Professor angry. Easily the most funny of time.

Don’t mind the Audible ad.
(From Tintin and the Picaros) just noticed this detail.

Note
11 and 23 (that isn't Tintin and Haddock)
11. Top 3 side characters?
Nestor - He does so much and puts up with so much. He gives off the vibe of an anime character who is infinitely more powerful than the rest of the characters, but he likes everybody else too much to unleash his full power
Igor Wagner - Another character who works hard for not much reward. He was especially a stand-up guy for the scene in Lake of Sharks where he pretends to be Tintin in the street, so the Thompsons will jump him while Tintin sneaks into the Syldavian police station
Tom - He's iconic for being the henchman ever, and plus, I've long found it funny that this plain, relatively normal goon-type is just. two or three degrees of separation from the same guy running one of the world's biggest drug trafficking operations. Tom wakes up in the morning, and his biggest decision is picking which wool cap to wear. I like him
23. A relationship between two characters that you really like?
Castafiore and Irma. Yes, Castafiore is very fussy and high maintenance, but Irma seems to genuinely enjoy working for Castafiore, and she seems to genuinely respect Irma. Like, in Castafiore Emerald, Castafiore just about ripped the Thompsons' heads off for making Irma cry, and in Tintin and the Picaros, she definitely has a favourite among her entourage:

(Poor Igor; at least I thought to include him in the first answer here lol)
