locking your phone, you throw it on your bed as you open the door to leave your bedroom. hearing the doorbell ring once more, you pick up your step and make your way down the stairs. reaching for the door handle, you slowly open the door. at the sight of the person in front of you, your grip on the door handle slightly tightens. still staring at the boy, you take notice of the small warm smile he sends your way.

“uh- anton’s not here if that’s who you’re looking for,” you manage to mumble out. nodding his head at you, he awkwardly brings a hand to the back of his neck to try and calm his nerves down. making eye contact with you once more, he sends you another smile before clearing his throat.

“i know,” he admits. “i came here for you.”

at his sudden confession, you stare at him wide eyed. not knowing what else to do, you hesitantly nod at his words.

“i hope i’m not intruding,” he immediately adds, not wanting to make you uncomfortable in any way. “you seemed upset so i-” he cuts himself off before shifting in his spot to swiftly bring his backpack forward. digging in his front pocket, he smiles as he feels what he was looking for. with a bright smile now taking over his features, he extends his arm forward. “i know you don't like snickers so i took a wild guess.”

looking down at his hand, you let out a small chuckle at the chocolate bar in front of you. “you can’t go wrong with a milky way bar,” you admitted, smiling at the boy. taking the chocolate bar from his hand, you ignore how your fingertips slightly brush his and awkwardly shift your focus back to the chocolate bar now in your hand.

not wanting to leave yet, the boy in front of you shuffles in his spot. “can i come in?” seunghan hesitantly asks.

“seunghan-” you softly say his name. getting ready to come up with an excuse.

“just for a second. i want to make sure you’re okay,” he quickly adds. looking at you with big eyes, wanting nothing more than to be the person cheering you up. nervously chewing on your bottom lip, you continue to stare at him. “please.”

haechan's friend group

lee haechan is a lovable menace (as winter likes to call him), a himbo with a knack for flirting and pulling pranks, especially on his beloved jisung. his favorite target, however, is yn ln, though he swears it means nothing—despite the lingering stares, constant teasing, and the way he always ends up next to her in class.

park jisung swears up and down that he's a heartbreaker, the ultimate ladies' man, but unfortunately for him, haechan ruins his reputation at every given opportunity. despite his self-proclaimed "nonchalant" status, he's actually a total sweetheart, albeit one who cannot keep a secret to save his life.

kim minjeong aka winter is the silent observer of the friend group, always watching, always listening, and always ready with her phone to capture the best (or worst) moments of her friends' (read: jisung's) lives. most of the time though, she's in her own little bubble with her girlfriend, karina, only really snapping back to reality when there's drama worth witnessing.

yn's friend group

yn ln is the #1 troller of neo college, a menace to society with a sharp mind and an even sharper wit. whether it's elaborate pranks, or just making people look dumb for fun, she's always one step ahead of everyone else. she's the one person who can rival haechan's chaotic energy, which is probably why they get along so well.

jeno lee is quite possibly the most patient man alive, which is both a blessing and a curse because it means he puts up with yn's endless antics without ever stopping her. as her favourite victim, he has been pranked, teased, and used as a prop more times than he can count with his fingers alone.

na jaemin is just as sweet as jeno but way more gullible, which makes him yn's second favourite victim. he's a little out of touch with gen z trends, leading to constant teasing from yn and jeno... though usually easygoing, he's competitive when provoked, especially when yn's pranks go too far, leading him to take revenge in ways she never expects.

“i figured out what’s wrong by the way” he says not even two minutes into looking ag your project “really? thank fuck you’re here mate i’m like dangerously close to a mental breakdown” “when’s the last time you took a break?” “i don’t know man this is irrelevant” “i do think you should tale a break y/n, i saw on your project you confused the magnetic field orientation with the observational signal’s polarization direction, and i know that no y/n in her right mind would ever do that. you’re too smart for this” jisung says as you sigh sitting next to him. he was right. you kind of hoped he wasn’t because this rookie mistake was definitely your last straw. before you knew it you started crying

“i just- i don’t know this project has been stressing me out, and mark- i mean all my friends i’m doing so bad i feel like a shitty friend i just- i don’t know what to do… and now i’m crying in front of you this is so embarrassing holy shit” you say in between sobs. if there’s one thing about you, you HATE crying in front of people and you hate how sympathetic their eyes are when they’re looking at you

“y/n calm down this is not embarrassing, do you know how many times i’ve cried about this fuck ass subject? this whole semester is constantly bringing me closer to the edge i promise” jisung comforts you rubbing small circles on your back “what happened with mark are you okay? no pressure if you don’t want to talk about it that’s fine” he asks “it’s just, he called me earlier and i said i was going to see you and probably eat with you and he gave me shit about telling them we couldn’t see each other this week but then hanging out with you and- i told him it was the project but… god why am i such a shitty friend” you ramble dangerously close to breaking into sobs once more

“it sounds to me like you didn’t do anything, i don’t know why he was acting like that but he was just feeling hurt you have nothing to apologize for this will sort itself out don’t worry. and if anything this just proves how much he values and cares about you so really don’t stress about it okay? let’s just order food, eat, relax and then we’ll work on your project together how does that sound?” he asks still rubbing small circles on your back “it’s fine thank you… what about your project tho?” you ask calming down embarrassment creeping in from letting jisung see you in such a state “i already told you i’d half ass it, it’s done already so now i can completely focus on yours. now, what sounds good? chinese? indian? whatever’s fine with me”

walking towards the library entrance, you open the door while softly humming along to the song currently stuck in your head. at the feeling of a light buzz in your pocket, you swiftly take out your phone and immediately smile when you see SOHEE had sent you another text. just as you’re about to reply, you walk into something hard, hitting your head and causing your phone to fall from your hands.

“shit, i am so sorry,” the voice had said, quickly bending down to pick up your phone for you. “i’m still half asleep right now. are you okay?” they added, as they extended your phone out for you to take.

rubbing your head from the impact, you nod as you slowly look up at the stranger to reassure them you were fine. but as you made eye contact with them, you couldn't help but let a small audible gasp. feeling your whole body freeze, you suddenly couldn’t find the right words to say and found yourself pointing at them. looking down at your pointer finger, seunghan let out a small laugh. what a small world huh? he thought.

“we really need to stop meeting like this,” seunghan chuckled out as he watched your cheeks turn a bright shade of red. silently inspecting your face to make sure you were truly okay.

“i’m seunghan,” seunghan said, extending his hand out for you to shake. looking down at his hand, you look up at him once more, confused on the gesture. “I know they’ve introduced us already but i wanted to introduce myself,” he added, sending you a small smile.

“i’m yn,” you said, following his lead as you hesitantly took his hand in yours. gently shaking his hand, you shoot him a shy smile. after shaking his hand for what felt like eternity, you let go and bring your hand back to your side, hoping and praying he couldn't feel how shaky it was. not knowing what else to say, you wave and mumble a small “bye” and make your way towards the elevators.

“wait,” you felt a hand gently tug your wrist, causing you to turn back.

“i’m going to get some coffee really quick,” seunghan added, turning his head towards the direction of the small coffee shop in the library’s first floor. “join me?” he asked, looking down at you with big pleading eyes. “let me buy you something, it’s the least i can do after bumping into you like that,” he reasoned.

“no, no. it’s okay, you don't have to!” you said, immediately shaking your head at him.

“i want to!” seunghan reassured you. “i’ll even walk you to your floor after, gotta make sure i didn't accidentally give a pretty girl a concussion, you know?” he chuckled out but just as the words came out of his mouth, your eyes and his eyes immediately widen. what the fuck seunghan?

clearing his throat, he immediately lets go of your wrist. “please or i’ll feel bad,” he quickly added, not wanting his previous sentence to linger any longer. not knowing what else to say, you hesitantly nod at him and follow him there.
