This one's a bit of a throwback...
See, back in my Wattpad days (i'm still there, just not exclusively now) I found a lot of very nice, very fab fics that I loved very much. Usally marvel fics, usually Spider-Man (MCU) related, usually wrong number fics.
I found this fab character known as Evelyn Parker, created by @illegally-blind-and-deaf. This character bounced around a couple fics in a couple writing communities she frequented in, and I happened to stumble upon her! So I made some epic fanart, 3 years ago in 2022.
Tumblr media
...ok, to tell you a secret, I did edit this ever-so-slightly from the art i made back then. The boots are a lighter color, and more importantly, I FINALLY FIXED THE MASK!
See, way back then, I read in her description of Evie that she had a mask over half her face. I proceeded to mask the wrong half. And it haunted me ever since (jkjk lol). So I saw a grand opportunity to fix this today since this art will see the light of day again in @kaslynspeaks (an old friend of hers) fic, It Was Only Supposed to be an Online Class :3. You'll probably see a link on that fic here. Hi. It's me. I made the art :p
Here's the homemade suit too (still with the mask error, cause screw it we're making it lore, not a mistake)
Tumblr media
Behold, some old sketches too :D

Chapter 29
Tumblr media
Warnings: Angst, potentially controversial/sensitive topics
Copyright: I do not own any Marvel characters or locations. However, I do own my OC: Elizabeth Y/L/N (created so you don't get Y/N and Y/S/N consistently mixed up. I do not condone any copying of this.
IT WAS THE DELICIOUS SMELL OF BACON wafting through the house that woke you up. You blinked your eyes open and found that you were comfortably trapped underneath Thor's hulking body. His warmth radiated through you as the rest of the farmhouse was a bit cold. Frost licked at the windows and you wondered if it had snowed last night.
You poked Thor until he woke up and rolled off of you, then slipped out of bed to get dressed in something warm and comfortable. You stuck to a sweatshirt and some sweatpants, stuffing your feet in furry Uggs and headed down the stairs.
The table had been set with platters of eggs, bacon, sausage links, fresh fruits, pancakes, and hash browns, but the cook was no where in sight. Several of the Avengers had settled down around the table, helping themselves.
"Morning." You said as cheerfully as you could manage for eight forty-five in the morning.
"Morning." The others replied with various degrees of wakefulness.
As you passed Clint, you paused to pull hay out of his hair and toss it in the trash. He must've gone up to the hayloft at some point. You wondered when that had been.
"Who made breakfast?" You asked curiously as you helped yourself to the pancakes and bacon.
Steve shrugged, "It was ready when I got down here and I was the first down here."
"Must've been Elizabeth, if I had to guess." Rhodey replied. "It tastes the same way she makes it. I can taste the butter in the eggs."
You nodded. Elizabeth had come up with this trick where if you got the butter to boil in the pan when you scrambled the eggs, then the eggs would cook through so fast that they didn't have time to stick to the pans and the pans would be easier to clean. The result ended in the eggs being extremely fluffy, but also with a heavy taste of butter. It was a surprisingly good combination.
"Did she eat?" You asked and then realized none of them would probably know.
"No idea." Rhodey replied.
You nodded, looking out the window but you couldn't see anyone out on the farm. It still looked cold out, the sun behind the gray clouds and the windows were still foggy. This October weather was going to be a cold one.
You sat down next to Steve who was being somewhat quiet this morning.
As you neared finishing breakfast, Elizabeth finally stepped into the house. She was wearing her winter boots instead of cowboy boots, and had put on a thick hoodie and fingerless gloves. A gray hat with a pink pom pom on the end had been pulled down over her ears.
"Morning." She said easily as she headed past everyone to the kitchen.
"Aren't you freezing?" You asked after her in worry. "You'll catch frostbite."
Elizabeth grinned at you. "I don't feel cold anymore, remember?"
Damn, well that had to be nice.
"I should check that out later though." Tony added, a frown on his face and he reached out to take her hand. "Your hands are freezing. Maybe you can't feel the cold, but I'm worried your body still does."
Elizabeth smiled at him. "You can run your tests later. I've still got lots of morning chores to do and I've left Hogun to fend for himself with the chickens."
And then she was gone once more, slipping out the backdoor so that you could barely feel the cold wind come in for a split second.
"I wonder if the lake froze over." Natasha commented, looking at you. "Do you ever ice skate on it?"
"Every winter." You said, a smile coming on your face as you thought about all the past winters. "But it usually doesn't freeze over till mid- November."
"Ah, talking about the lake?" Your father limped into the breakfast room. His cheeks were tinged red and pink, so was his nose, a sure sign that he'd been outside as well. Not to mention the hardware boots on his feet and the red and black flannel jacket he was wearing. "I drove the truck across early this morning. You're good to skate on it."
"You drove. . . the truck across?" Wanda asked curiously.
"That's how we do it here." You grinned. "There's a larger lake in the middle of town. The firefighters drive their truck across to see if it'll hold the weight. If it can cross, then you're good to go."
"I believe that is highly dangerous." Vision replied.
"That's how we do it." Your father shrugged, sinking into his chair with a wince. You were very good at ignoring his injury, because that was how he wanted it. He didn't want attention on it.
"They used to do something similar in our town." Sam said. "In the winter, the lake would freeze over and they'd send the firetrucks out. Course, they got rid of that eventually, but I know they did it till I was at least ten."
"So, Y/N, I don't suppose you have any superpowers that you want to tell me about?" Your father asked you bluntly.
You nearly choked on your bacon. "W-What?"
"Elizabeth and I talked. I just wanted to make sure you were okay." Your father replied, staring at you.
"Yeah, no, I'm fine." You replied, blushing. Your dad was a great man, but something he didn't always realize that not every conversation had to be shared in public. There were some things that needed to be kept private. But with him growing up in a small gossip town, that probably didn't seem important anymore. "What'd she tell you?"
Your father suddenly straightened up in his chair. "Well, nothing much really. Just that she was at fault for underestimating the city. Said she had gone for a walk and turned her back for to long and got nabbed. Said that there was this crazy organization that just wanted to test superpowers on her and then sent her back."
You blinked. Either he was editing, or Elizabeth really hadn't told him the full story. But why? Why had she left out the club, the fact that she'd run out because she was having a panic attack from the claustrophobia, that it wasn't her fault at all, that they'd taken her because of Steve?
Your father sighed, "But I'm guessing she didn't tell me the full story judging by your faces."
You looked around and saw that the others looked just as shocked or confused as you. "Well, she might've left a couple of details out. It wasn't her fault though."
"It wasn't her fault at all." Tony replied sternly. "If anything it was ours. We dropped our guard in public after dark and that was something we should never have done. And I admit I didn't keep a good eye on her."
Your father nodded, "Well, I can respect a man that owns up to his actions. I believe that you are no longer negligent towards her?"
"No, I am not." Tony replied firmly. "She gave me a second chance and I love her as much as I love Y/N."
You blushed and your father nodded. "Good. Now then, let's eat."
ₓ˚. ୭ ˚○◦˚.˚◦○˚ ୧ .˚ₓ
ELIZABETH HAD TAKEN MOST OF THE others on a tour of the farm. Steve and Bucky had gone into town with your mother to help her with some shopping stuff. You and Loki were the only ones not with anyone else.
You weren't entirely sure how it had ended up being you and Loki. The two of you were curled up together in the house, in the basement. It was colder down there, but private and he'd grabbed a thick quilt to wrap around you.
You were falling asleep in his lap when he brought up the conversation, "Did you know about Elizabeth. . . when she was in your mothers womb?"
"What do you mean?" You asked sleepily. You'd almost fallen asleep in his lap when he'd spoke. "Like did I know I was getting a sister?"
"No." Loki said and paused. You blinked your eyes open to see that he looked troubled.
"Oh, is this another conversation like Thor's where I'm supposed to try and convince my mom not to get an abortion?" You grumbled.
Loki hesitated and said, "No, not really. Thor did talk to me, but I wonder sometimes. . . No, I was wondering if you knew that your mother almost aborted Elizabeth."
You sat up straight, looking at him. "What?! How do you know that?"
"Elizabeth told me last night when I went to comfort her." Loki admitted, playing with the edge of the quilt. "And from the sounds of it, she told Clint last night as well."
Clint?
"And Steve overheard." Loki sighed.
You wondered if Thor had known. If that was why he'd brought up the idea of Elizabeth killing herself and how you'd feel. You shoved those thoughts away.
"But she decided not to kil- to get rid of Elizabeth." You replied.
"Because your father finally won the argument." Loki sighed. "I wonder. . . what do you think you're life would've been like without her?"
You thought about it. Or at least, you tried. You couldn't really remember a time when Elizabeth wasn't there. But there were faint memories of when she wasn't there. Where your parents actually looked like they loved each other, where all three of you were content and happy. You could remember events when Elizabeth had stayed home from stuff, from sickness usually or homework or a chore on the farm when she got old enough to do them. The three of you were always so. . . happy.
You felt tears brim your eyes at the horrible confession inside your heart and you looked up through your lashes at Loki, "We would've been happier."
"Would you?" Loki mused, hugging you closer to wipe your tears away. "I don't think you would have. Maybe as a family Y/N. I can't deny that, I've seen the proof and both you and Elizabeth have admitted it. Your family would've been happier. But what about you? If there was no Elizabeth to fill in for all of the chores, to take care of the farm. Don't you see?"
Loki's voice was soft and persuasive, occasionally kissing your tears away. "Don't you see Y/N? Elizabeth's birth freed you. You have the life that you wanted because Elizabeth was born to take your place on the farm."
You knew it was true. You hated the farm, you hated chores, you hated the work and effort that had to go into it. And Elizabeth truly had been born to fill in that spot.
"Now what if," Loki whispered softly in your ear as he pulled you into a hug. "what if your brother freed her?"
ₓ˚. ୭ ˚○◦˚.˚◦○˚ ୧ .˚ₓ
DINNER WAS SO TENSE THAT NIGHT IT could've been cut with a butter knife. The conversation was attempted to be kept up in an easy flow and for the most part, it seemed normal. Your father was extremely relaxed, though Elizabeth seemed a little out of it. Your mother had arranged the table and she'd found herself between Steve and Sam. You could tell she was trying to make an effort with Steve, but finally gave up and gave all her attention to Sam.
You had really never gotten an answer from the Captain about why exactly he was avoiding her. But you had long given up in trying to get an answer out of him and Bucky.
"I have something to tell everyone here." Your father said.
You tensed immediately, shooting your dad an exasperated look and he smiled. "You can all relax, it's good."
You didn't relax.
"I understand the customs that are normally supposed to take place, however, I feel my second daughter has gone long enough in waiting. Hogun came to me today and I've granted them the permission to marry here on Earth. Along with Masters Loki, Sam, and Tony. Those with full colour tattoos."
Elizabeth's face was one of shock, along with Steve and Sam. Tony just looked superior.
Your mother opened her mouth and you quickly said. "Congratulations, I'm really happy for you Elizabeth. You're going to have a beautiful wedding."
Your mother spun in surprise to look at you and Elizabeth stared at you with wide eyes like she didn't even know you. You were just slightly hurt, but also knew the last time she'd suggested getting married before you, you'd freaked and she'd frozen a coffee table.
"Thanks." Elizabeth said, blushing, staring down at the table. Your mother pursed her lips together.
"When will the wedding be?" Natasha asked.
"December 15th." Hogun said with a smile.
"Ah a winter wedding." You teased, wondering why the idea of your little sister getting married before you had ever been such a big deal. "Good luck with that little sis."
Your mother politely excused herself from the table and left the room. Your father was quick to follow and the rest of you stayed in conversation, mostly talking about wedding ideas.
Elizabeth excused herself after a moment and out of curiosity, you followed after a minute or two.
You wandered out of the kitchen and found her sitting at the bottom of the steps. The chatter in the kitchen had covered up your parents yelling at each other upstairs, the door closed. Your mother was shouting at your father for not waiting until you got married like you were supposed to.
"-WILL SOCIETY THINK OF US? OF OUR DAUGHTERS! THEY'RE SOULMATED TO TONY STARK FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! HOW CAN YOU POSSIBLY THINK OUR SECOND DAUGHTER CAN GET MARRIED FIRST! SHE'S SECOND FOR A REASON!"
"THE POLITE SOCIETY HAS NEVER DONE A DAMN THING FOR US! WHY SHOULD I DEPRIVE ELIZABETH OF WHAT SHE NEEDS. DO YOU UNDERSTAND THAT? SHE NEEDS THIS Y/M/N! SHE'S ALREADY BEEN REJECTED BY TWO OF HER SOULMATES. SHE NEEDS THE OTHERS RALLYING AROUND HER, SHE NEEDS TO FEEL THEIR LOVE."
Elizabeth looked up at you from the stairs. "Come to join the party?"
"Why didn't you tell me?" You asked.
"I didn't know Hogun had gone to dad." Elizabeth shrugged, "I had no idea he'd asked for me to marry him on Earth again."
"No. Not that. Why did you never tell me mom wanted. . . you know."
"Loki told you?" She guessed.
You stayed silent.
Elizabeth looked away. "Because I never wanted you to realize how much better you would've been off without me. I never wanted you to resent me like mom did. Because I loved you to much to let you realize you would've been happier without me."
You pulled her into a hug. A real one, one the two of you hadn't done for a long, long time. "My life would never have been better without you Elizabeth. And no," you gave a shaky laugh, "Not just because you do all the chores for me."
Elizabeth let out a shaky laugh too, a sob in her throat. She held onto you tightly and you let your own tears fall. "I love you Elizabeth. You're my little sister. And I'm sorry for all of your pain."
"Be my maid of honor?"
"Of course."

When i first saw Calli’s original video explaining the Aegis/Wildward as a whole these two villainous OCs popped into my head.
The first guy is László (Bear Aegis Weilder)
Aegis/Sentinel: The bear aegis is the aegis of “The Will to Survive” or just “Survival”. It is a roughly cut amethyst set in a ring. The name of its sentinel has long since been lost (just like how the word Bear is an epiteth which means “brown one”). The abilities it bestows are the standard like increased strength/speed/stamina however its special power is pretty simple as well as complex at the same time it is called “Deathless Hibernation” it means that if its weilder sustains a mortal injury the weilder will go into a stasis like state of regeneration where the user is unconscious. The duration of the stasis is dependent on the severity of the injury (If the heart is pierced it can last a few months, if the head is cut off it can be a century, if cut in half vertically it can be a millenium) an important thing to note is that every time the user wakes up from the stasis they become stronger not just when transformed but their bodies are sturdier and their reflexes hightened even when de-transformed (though they are way stronger when transformed) but it can only be used once every 10 years, its raw strength is comparable to the Tiger aegis though their durability is lower than the Wolf aegis. Another peculiarity is that the Bear aegis extends the life of the weilder for as long as the desire to survive burns within them.
László Backstory: He was originally a member of the hungarian tribes who crossed into europe in 895 AD. He was wounded in a battle and the enemy thinking he was dead left him but he refused to die and when crawling away from the battlefield he found the bear aegis in a cave he sought shelter in the sentinel recognizing his desire for survival and bestowing him with its power. He went on to wonder the earth and fight in many wars where he desired to figure out what it was exactly that he has become but while in a battle 500 years ago he was wounded to the degree that he awoke only in modern day. He is a social darwinist believing that the strong and more accurately the “Willing” are the ones worthy of survival and towards leading the new age of man, naturally seeing himself as the teacher who has to beat this lesson into his fellow Aegis weilders.
Character Details:
He is more than a thousand years old but appears in his 50s
He has a Thick hungarian accent
He doesn’t use weapons but instead makes gigantic claws for himself using the aegis
The activation phrase of his aegis is “Awaken” and its deactivation phrase is “Back in the cave”
He is 6’7 when de-transformed and 7’4 when transformed
His favorite food is anything that can be cooked over a campfire
His name means “Power and Glory”
He has used “Deathless Hibernation“ so many times he is now strong enough to fight beginner aegis weilders without transforming
His inspirations were Michael Myers (Rob Zombie version), Vandal Savage (DC), Sabretooth (Marvel), Senator Armstrong (Metal Gear)
The second is Hanta (Leopard Seal Aegis weilder)
Aegis/Sentinel: The Leopard Seal aegis is the aegis of “Ruthlessness”, the Aegis stone is a labradorite set in a seal teeth necklace its sentinels name is Selkie. The ability is “Leptonyx Glaciation” when the weilder desires they can infuse their weapon (Hunting daggers in Hanta’s case) with an energy that makes it so that whenever they cut/pierce something the target they cut becomes colder/freezes, the level of coldness depends on the amount of energy they infuse in their weapon if they so desire it they can infuse all of the energy at once which will cause deep frostbite (the kind that turns the skin black) in the affected area and causes it to sustain cellural damage. In addition this aegis bestows its weilders with increased lung capacity, resistence to the cold and speeds that rival the Hawk aegis’s flight but while under water.
Hanta backstory: He was born into an inuit family near the north pole. He was always destined to be a hunter in his community. And he always thought about this with great pride. When he was only a teenager one day while out hunting he was set on by a polar bear which mauled his face where parts of his lips were torn off on either side of his mouth contorting it into a horrific grin but while the polar bear was set on him he managed to drive his harpoon into the creatures heart. It was a legendary and priceless accomplishment among his community but all he could think about was the rush he felt when killing such a powerful opponent. A few months later he left his community and went out into the world where he worked many jobs almost all of which involved hunting or killing with these taking him to the furthest edges of the world. Until one day it took him to the furthest point from his original home, the south pole. He was working as a traper for an american scientific team studying animals of the south pole but the ice gave out under him and he was plunged into the water where a hungry leopard seal was waiting for him, he and the animal struggled until his will to kill won out over the creatures and he realized their fight took him to an underwater ice cave where he found the leopard seal aegis. A month later he met László for the first time with them fighting and Hanta being defeated, afterwords he decided to follow László as he promised that there will be others for his new associate to hunt.
Character Details:
His name translates to “Hunter”
His favorite food is cooked fish
He is 33 years old
The activation phrase of his aegis is “Emerge” while the deactivation phrase is “Back on ice”
He wears a coat with a high collar to conceal his face scar
His face scar is based on Leopard Seals always looking like their smiling
Him following László was based on the IRL fact that seals and bears are related
The reason his skin looks lighter when transformed is because it turns a vary light gray when the aegis is activated as opposed to his ordinary inuit complexion when de-transformed
His inspirations were Kraven the Hunter (Marvel), Black Panther (Marvel), Simo Häyh (Record of Ragnarok design)

BLEEDING EARS
Hiyori and Ilona (oc and oc story)
Characters: Hiyori Shizukesa and Ilona Dulina
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[WARNINGS: MENTIONS OF BLOOD AND VIOLENCE]
{The frost hashira and sky hashira interact well. They both encounter a demon and Hiyori gets minor injuries and Ilona’s ears bleed, giving her flashbacks from when she was 4. But Hiyori sees Ilona’s other side (demon side) during battle.}
The snow-capped mountains stretched endlessly, and the frost hashira, Ilona, gazed at them with a sense of calm. Beside her, the sky hashira, Hiyori, marveled at the vast blue expanse above.
Hiyori: The view from here is breathtaking!!
her voice filled with awe.
Ilona nodded, her brunette hair gleaming in the moonlight.
Ilona: It's serene, but we must remain on the lookout since demons lurk in every shadow
As if on cue, a demon lunged out from the snowy terrain, its claws glinting dangerously. Hiyori leaped into action, twirling her polearm with precision. In the midst of battle, a painful moan escaped her lips as she stumbled, her arm grazed by the demon's claws. Ilona's eyes widened in concern, but during the chaos, Hiyori noticed that Ilona's ears began to bleed, a sight that sent shivers down her spine.
Memories flooded back to when Ilona was just a child at the age of four, her ears bleeding uncontrollably until she lost her hearing completely. The sight of her friend in pain triggered something deep within Hiyori's heart. Driven by her concern, caught a glimpse of something unexpected. Ilona's eyes flickered, revealing a dark, almost demonic aura surrounding her. It was as if a dormant power had awakened within her. Her appearance was different… her hair was white and blue instead of her brunette hair. Her eyes were different, her nails went sharp.
The demon, sensing the change, intensified its attacks, targeting Ilona relentlessly. The pain in her ears grew unbearable, and suddenly, Ilona let out a blood-curdling scream. The sound pierced through the air, but as it did, Ilona's world went silent. She had gone deaf once again. In a mix of horror and curiosity, Hiyori whispered..
Hiyori:  Ilona.. H-hey… Are you okay?
Ilona: I'll be fine, Hiyori..
She still could understand what Hiyori was saying by seeing the movement of her lips.
The battle was fierce, each strike resonating with the clash of steel against ice.
Despite her deafness, Ilona continued to fight, relying on her instincts and the vibrations she could feel through the ground. Hiyori, witnessing her friend's struggle, fought even harder, determined to protect Ilona at all costs.
Ilona cut her arm and smeared her blood on the demon.
Ilona: Blood Demon Art- Bloody Frostbite
Her blood instantly turned into ice on the demon’s neck, they managed to cut it off. The demon faded away, she went back to her human form. Hiyori sighed in relief.
Hiyori: Whew, I thought I was gonna lose you.
She noticed Ilona’s nose was bleeding.. a lot. Hiyori pointed it out..
Hiyori: Umm.. Ilona.. Your nose.. Is bleeding.. A lot.
Ilona: Oh, it’s okay Hiyori, it’s just a side effect I have from being half-demon.
She was surprised, Ilona was shaky and she fainted from some blood loss. Hiyori was shocked and concerned.
Days passed, and Ilona's hearing slowly returned. She woke up to find Hiyori sitting by her side, a concerned expression on her face. Hiyori had been taking care of her, ensuring she had everything she needed during her recovery.
As Ilona's hearing fully returned, she looked at Hiyori with gratitude and a newfound understanding. She realized that Hiyori had seen her other side, the demon within her, and yet, she had not faltered in her loyalty and friendship.
From that day forward, Ilona and Hiyori's bond grew stronger. They continued to fight demons together, their unique strengths complementing each other perfectly. The Frost Hashira and the Sky Hashira became an unstoppable force, their friendship transcending any boundaries.
In a world filled with darkness, their unwavering friendship and shared experiences brought a glimmer of hope, reminding everyone that even in the face of adversity, true friendship could conquer all.

North Star✶Chapter 7
A Levi Ackerman x oc slow burn
Previous Chapter | Next Chapter | Series Masterlist | AO3
Levi fights to keep you alive, and you decide if it's worth it all.
Warning: mentions of death
Tumblr media
Levi follows Mathieu into his home and to a bedroom, where he opens a large cedar chest. He takes out a few items of clothing and hands them to Levi. “You should be able to fit into some of my son’s old clothing. Make sure you cover as much skin as you can - it’s going to be cold and windy up there, and frostbite can settle in fast if you’re not careful.”
Mathieu then lays out a map on the table and takes out a compass. “I assume, as a former soldier, you know how to use one of these?” Mathieu asks, to which Levi nods. “The glevora trail starts on the southern slope of the mountain and was meant to be taken by foot - it’ll take too long in this weather on a horse. But there’s another, faster trail slightly to the west,” he points on the map, “here.” He folds up the map and gives it to Levi. “Prince was made for this kind of weather, but it’ll still be treacherous, especially if the blizzard hits before you make it to her.”
“Then I better get going,” Levi responds as he changes into the wool sweater and waxed coat given to him. Mathieu pulls out some gear and supplies and as both men head to the stables, there’s already a change in the air.
“Levi, it’s likely when you find her that she’ll be weak and maybe even a little confused. Besides not eating for over 3 days, opening the bridge takes a toll on her body and mind.” He puts a hand on Levi’s shoulder. “And keep your own wits about you. Strange things are said to happen in the mountains on the solstice.”
“I will.” Levi mounts Prince, who eagerly stomps his hooves. He pulls on the reins gently to control him and then looks down at Mathieu. “Thank you, for your help. Let the council know that she’ll return safely down the mountain with her duty accomplished,” then he rides out of the barn and towards Mount Aspe.
There’s a cold wind blowing down through the mountains and into the valley, and it stings at Levi’s exposed face. He’s never been particularly comfortable in freezing temperatures, but he feels focused, more than he has in a long time; his winter training for the Survey Corps is coming back to him.
It’s quiet, only the crunch of Prince’s hooves in the snow can be heard. The scent of pine trees wafts in the wind and Levi marvels at how different this landscape is than anything he knew in Paradis. The higher he climbs the mountain, the energy seems to change as well; as if the very trees and rocks around him wait in expectation. The wind bites at his face and his muscles tense.
“You weren’t made for the cold, were you, Levi?” Hange used to tease. She had once tried to make a heating mechanism for their winter uniforms that would keep them warm as well as hinder the ODM gear from freezing up, but it ended up catching fire during the first trial run.
Why am I thinking of Hange now of all times? Levi asked himself. He re-focused on the task at hand, which was navigating this mountain trail. Snow had fallen last night, covering everything in a fresh, sparkling white, but it made navigating the correct route challenging. He had to depend on his compass and map more often than not.
Mathieu had warned that the daylight hours were particularly short during the winter solstice, and Levi was glad that he’d started his trek early. Clouds were beginning to build overhead and it urged him forward - he was quickly running out of time. As he came into a clearing, he could see a fire burning in the distance, then the lights in the sky began to appear, flowing from one end of the sky to the other. It really was a magical sight to see, even to a skeptic like Levi. Then suddenly, the wind changed and clouds began to cover the lights and darken the stars. Sensing the start of the storm, Levi urged Prince onward toward the fire’s light, the wind and snow bearing down on him, making it difficult to see.
When he finally arrives at the stone circle, you are nowhere to be found. His heart races as he searches around the immediate area, calling your name. He finds the cave where you had set up camp and ties Prince there. The wind continues to pick up, creating a complete white-out; Levi can barely see in front of him, but he ventures past the camp and altar, desperate to find any sign of you. Placing his arm in front of his face to block as much of the blizzard as possible, he trudges through the snow, ignoring the growing pain in his knee. “I can’t see shit out here.”
“This really is quite a storm, isn’t it?” says a voice from behind him. Levi’s eyes widen and then he quickly turns around.
It can’t be. It’s impossible.
“Hange?”
The wind and snow have stopped and it’s as if everything is frozen in time. Levi blinks his eyes a few times, wondering if his mind is playing tricks on him.
“Yo.” Hange gives a little wave. “Long time, no see.” They’re wearing the Survey Corps uniform, brown hair tied up in their usual way, but no eye patch.
“This can’t be real..” Levi marvels.
They feel around themself. “If I’m not real then you are having one very convincing hallucination,” they laugh then grab Levi’s hand to put it on their shoulder, “See? Real as can be.”
Levi quickly pulls back his hand, but he can still still feel the texture of Hange’s jacket. “How is this possible?”
“Your guess is as good as mine. I suppose there are some things that just can’t be explained.”
Levi remembers sitting against a rock after the final battle and seeing all his comrades faces, Hange and Erwin at the forefront as they disappeared into the smoke. “I just never thought I’d see you again.”
“Well, I am dead, so I suppose that would be a logical conclusion,” they tease. “But I haven’t been too far away this whole time. It looks like you have a good thing going there in Mursa.”
“It’s nice. Peaceful. But,” his glance turns downward, “I don’t know what I should do anymore.”
“Just keep doing what you’re doing - living life.” They move toward Levi. “After all you’ve been through, you deserve some peace.”
“But I shouldn’t be the one still here. I should -”
He thinks about all the times he should have died, but he kept fighting and pushing forward, even when he didn’t want to. Friends, family, comrades - they’ve all moved on without him, to whatever is beyond this world. But he can’t help but feel like he’s cheated death; that his Ackerman blood gave him an unfair and unwanted advantage. Living shouldn't feel like a curse.
Hange puts a hand on his shoulder, stopping him mid sentence. “You should live. The world is such a big place - explore it! That’s what the Survey Corps does, isn’t it?”
They smile. “Your time on earth is a gift, Levi. That’s why they call it the present.” Hange laughs heartily, a gleam in their eye, then nudges Levi’s ribs. “Get it? I think I just came up with a saying.”
Levi rolls his eyes. “You’re still as annoying as ever.” Then his face softens. “I’ve missed this.”
There’s so much he wants to say at this brief moment. That he’s thankful for their friendship. That he wishes he’d been the one to give his life that day.
“Ah, Levi, don’t be getting sentimental on me now.” Hange smiles, then begins to walk away into the trees. “I’ll see you on the other side, someday. Now go on…she needs you.”
The snow and wind pick back up and Hange disappears amongst the white. In their place, Levi sees footprints. He follows them through a grove of trees, until he starts finding pieces of clothing: a scarf, a coat, a hat, all leading to a figure amongst the trees.
“Catherine!” He yells, running toward you just as you drop to your knees. He catches you and holds you close.
“I’ve got you, Catherine. I won’t let you go.”
You don’t respond. Your eyes are open but seem to be in a trance-like state. Levi knows he has to act quickly; he grabs you and hoists you on his back, dragging you along and picking up your discarded clothing along the way. He’s pushed his body to the limit today, and his knee throbs, but he pushes through until he reaches the cave.
Now shielded from the snow, he places you down and wraps you in blankets. He quickly gets a fire going so that he can assess what kind of state you’re in. The fire slowly comes to life, illuminating the cave and your frail body shivering.
Levi crouches in front of you and places his hands on either side of your face. You’re freezing to the touch, your hair in icy clumps clinging to your head, your lips blue.
“Catherine! Catherine! Can you hear me?”
Your eyes are half open but it's as if you see right through him; your eyes are completely focused elsewhere, like there’s another world in front of you.
“Martin? You came for me?”
Levi thinks back to his winter survival training. Your confusion and physical state all show signs of hypothermia and minutes can determine whether you live or die. He knows he has to act quickly to raise your body heat.
Having discarded your coat and warm layers, the rest of the clothing you wore was soaked and cold. “Catherine, I need to get you warm. I’m sorry, but I’m going to have to take off your clothes.”
He takes a deep breath, then starts to undress you. “Please don’t hate me for this, but it’s for your own good.” He lifts the sweater over your head then pulls off the heavy wool pants. Once you’re only in your camisole and underwear, he places you inside the sleeping bag and begins to undress himself. Both your coats and clothing are placed next to the fire and when he is down to only his underwear, he crawls into the sleeping bag with you.
Your body is like a block of ice next to him, and it takes his breath away a bit. He piles the blankets and furs on top of you both and then zips up the sleeping bag. There’s no time to think of the awkwardness of it all because he knows this is the fastest way to warm your freezing body.
His arms wrap around you as you lay beside him, your head against his chest. He rubs your back and arms to encourage your blood to circulate, all the while hoping he acted in time.
The night passes and the blizzard dies down to a light snow falling. Prince stomps at the ground as the dying fire casts tall shadows along the cave walls. Levi crawls out of the sleeping bag only to add more wood to the fire, then his arms are around you again. Your head fits perfectly in the crook of his neck, and he feels your uneven breathing against his skin. The lights in the sky eventually fade, and to Levi’s relief, your body begins to warm, little by little; he finally allows himself to fall asleep just for a brief moment.
You’re going to make it.
——- ✶ ——-
“Don’t go! Take me with you!” You yell out to Lars. You find yourself running deeper and deeper into the trees, trying to catch up to him, but snow is whipping at your face and stinging your eyes.
It feels as if the world is spinning around you and then everything stops: the same empty feeling you had as you watched Martin’s airship fall from the sky. “You’re wrong, Martin, I’m not a strong person,” you say out loud - or at least, you think you say it out loud. You’re having a hard time differentiating between what is real and what isn’t. Honestly, you don’t really care.
Despite being surrounded by snow, you suddenly feel so hot. You start taking off your scarf and hat, then your gloves and finally your coat as you walk aimlessly among the trees. There’s a part of you warning that this is wrong, that you’re going to freeze out here.
And maybe that’s ok. You can almost see the thread connecting you to this life fraying. Just a little longer and it’ll snap, and you can be with Martin. Just a little bit more, and all your pain will be over..
Then there’s darkness.
You blink and you’re at the top of Mount Aspe. Thousands of stars are sparkling around you and the lights in the sky fade in and out, flowing through the air and around the moon. There’s no snow, only the endless sky surrounds you.
You shouldn't be here, Catherine, a familiar voice says. They wrap their arms around you.
“Take me with you. Or let me follow.”
Not this time.
You can’t see him, but he’s here, with you. You feel his arms, his breath against your ear. But you can’t turn around.
Don’t be afraid to enjoy your life and all there is to this frail world. Make friends, sit in the sun, ride Aster, laugh until you cry. Embrace it all. I want that for you.
A star in the distance starts shining brighter and brighter. You close your eyes.
 LIVE.
“But it’s hard”, you reply.
All good things are hard.
“I’m alone..”
You’re not alone.
Everything gets dark around you as you feel your body shutting down. You feel yourself falling, and you almost give into it -
…but something inside you - a tiny spark - says this isn’t how it’s supposed to be.
Martin’s words grow in your heart. You want to live.
You feel a pair of hands grab you and pull you into them. Who is it? You feel like you’re floating. Are you dead?
Someone’s calling your name. “Martin?” Did he come back? That’s impossible - he crossed the bridge. Someone’s taking off your clothes. That’s fine, you think, it’s so hot. No..it’s freezing. You feel arms around you. So warm. Feels like home.
You hear a heart beating against the chest your head is laying on. This is real. You’re alive.
When you open your eyes the cave is still dark, but the sun is slowly rising, shining through the entrance. You’re completely buried in blankets and there’s a body next to you, their arms around you and their head resting on top of yours. Your hands move along their bare chest; the scars you feel are unfamiliar. The touching rouses them from their sleep and they take a deep breath. When you look up, you see two long scars marking a porcelain complexion.
“Levi?”
You feel his muscles tense underneath you and he shifts a bit, putting a small space between your bodies. But his arms stay around you.
“What are you doing here?”
“I can tell you all about it later. Right now I just need to know you’re ok.” One of his hands gently touches your face and neck. “You’re feeling warmer. Let me stoke the fire and heat up some water for you to drink.”
He moves to unzip the sleeping bag, but your arm pressed next to him  quickly reaches across his chest. He looks at you and you pull your arm back.
You’re now fully aware that only the thin fabric of your underwear and camisole is keeping you from being totally nude next to him. “This was the most effective way to raise your body temperature,” Levi mentions, as if reading your mind.
“No, I understand.” Your arm reaches across him again. You’re not sure how or why Levi is here, but right now, it doesn’t matter.  “Don’t go just yet.”
There’s silence, and then Levi pulls you closer to him, his arms warmer than any blanket could be.
You rub your legs together for some extra warmth, and Levi notices. “Do you want me closer?” He asks, and you nod your head. At that, his leg drapes over yours. The weight of his body and the warmth emanating from his core assures you that you’re still alive.
You need this. You need to feel another human next to you, to know that you’re not alone. His chest rises and falls and you find that your own breathing syncs with his, each inhale and exhale pulling you back to this world.
“Thank you..” you quietly say into the curve of his neck. “I don’t know how you found me out here, but I thought it was the end.”
Hearing that, he pulls you in even tighter. He’s never felt so close to anyone before, and now that the danger of the situation has lessened, he realizes that he wants to be near you beyond just protecting you. Having you in his arms feels natural, as if you replace an emptiness he thought would never be filled. He could hold you like this forever.
But this isn’t the time for those feelings. Levi takes a deep breath.  “You could still be in danger. I need to keep you warm and hydrated while I find a way off of this mountain. The faster we can get you back to Mursa, the better.”
He begins to sit up. “I’m sorry, but I’ll have to move so I can get you something to drink.”
You let go of him, realizing you are indeed incredibly thirsty. When was the last time you had a drink? As Levi shifts away from you and opens the sleeping bag, a surge of cold air hits you and you shiver. He quickly gets out and zips you back in, then he puts on his clothes.
Your body feels as if it has had all the energy sucked out of it, and you doubt you could move much even if you tried. You go in and out of sleep as you hear Levi putting logs on the fire, only being roused when you feel his arm underneath you to help you sit up. He places a tin mug to your lips.
“I need you to drink this slowly,” he says with care. You cough up the first gulp, but after a few more sips you take it in your hands and finish it off. Levi looks relieved.
“That’s good. If you were suffering from serious hypothermia then you wouldn’t be able to drink at all.”
He pours you some more water and as he instructed, you drink it slowly, letting it soothe your parched throat. You can feel its warmth move all the way down to your stomach, making you even more comfortable.
After Levi feeds and waters Prince, he comes back over to you. “I’m going to check outside and see if we can get down this mountain today. It’s still early, so if the trail isn’t too bad then we should be able to make it.” He puts your hat on your head and smooths out your hair. “I’ll be right back.”
Alone and finally feeling coherent, you try to piece together the events of last evening. Nothing about this has been what you expected, but you were able to see Martin one final time, and you opened the bridge. Martin’s final words are etched on your heart, and although there’s a part of you that still yearns to be with him, there’s another part that believes what he said, that there’s so much more for you to experience in this life.
Because there is still goodness here - Levi is proof of that. He hasn’t yet told you how he knew you were in trouble, or how in the world he found you freezing in the wilderness, but the fact that he’s here makes you realize that you might not be so alone in this world after all.
You eventually doze off, so you’re not sure how long Levi had been out there before he’s gently waking you. “Catherine, I think I’ve found a way down, but if we’re going to make it before the sun sets, then we need to leave soon. Can you get dressed?”
“Yes..I think so, but Levi, I need to stay here. How will they believe I’ve accomplished the ceremony if I don’t come down on my own.”
“Did the elders say that was a requirement?”
“Well, no, but..”
“Then I’m taking you down off this mountain.” Levi gathers your clothing as you amble out of the sleeping bag. You silently acquiesce to his assistance, as he helps you put on each layer. “Catherine, you’ve done what you set out to accomplish. But if you stay up here any longer, you’ll..”
He looks down as he ties your boots. The words stick in his throat. “This ceremony isn’t worth your life.”
His hands are gripping your ankles as he looks up at you, his grey eyes piercing and serious. You can tell there’s no point in arguing with him. “Ok, Levi, you’re right. I’ll go with you.”
Levi packs what he can in Prince’s saddle bags, then helps you onto the saddle. He knows you’re still weak, so he has you sit in front of him, his arms around you as he grabs the reins. “Lean on me if you need to, ok?” He says gently as he prods Prince to move forward. It’s still cold, but the sun is shining brightly; it reflects off the snow and you both squint to see. Despite the chaotic events of last night, it’s now eerily calm; in fact, if you didn’t feel the way that you did, you’d almost think that you’d imagined everything that happened.
Riding down the mountain, Levi recalls the events that led to finding you, leaving out the part about meeting Hange. He’s still trying to figure that out in his mind. Another thought he keeps hidden is his growing endearment for you; the feeling is so new and unknown to him, he’s not sure he could even describe it.
You listen in awe as Levi speaks, amazed that someone would go through such lengths for you. The fact that he cared that much, gives you conflicted feelings and you’re not sure you’re ready to deal with something like that.
Martin told you to love again, but how could you?
You do know that you feel safe with Levi. Physically and psychologically he’s been through so much, but there’s this inner strength about him.  You wonder if you would have been that strong if faced with such losses.
“If you hadn’t come when you did, I don’t think I would have made it. I thought I was strong enough to be glevora, but in the end, I couldn’t complete what I set out to do.”
“What are you talking about? You did exactly what you needed to do. You climbed up a big-ass mountain, stayed there for several days without food, and opened the bridge. Don’t diminish your accomplishments.”
His voice is stern. “You can’t control the weather. Unless you have some skill you haven’t told me about.”
That makes you laugh just a little bit. “You’re right. I guess I’m just worried about what everyone will think, when they see me come down the mountain like this.”
“You can’t control that either. People are going to think what they wanna think. So what if it wasn’t executed perfectly in the end? Were Martin and the others able to cross?”
“Yes..they were.”
“Then it was a success. Stop being hard on yourself.”
“Yes sir,” you tease. In your heart, you know he’s right, even if he has a gruff way of putting it.
“You’re strong, Catherine. You don’t give yourself enough credit. I wish you could see what I see.”
“What do you see?”
“An amazing woman who has never let the struggles in life defeat her. You’re a fighter, but you’re too hard on yourself. You’re your own worst enemy, in that regard.”
There it is again, that brutally honest way of speaking - but it’s refreshing. There are no pretenses with Levi.
“There’s no fault in wanting to be better and stronger, but you should celebrate your victories too.” His voice softens. “And for what it’s worth, I’m proud of what you’ve done, and I’m sure Martin is too.”
You can feel your cheeks getting hot and you’re glad that Levi can’t see you. “Thank you…for being honest with me. I appreciate that.”
For some reason, when he says he’s proud of you it feels like the biggest accomplishment. He makes you feel like you’re worth something.
About halfway down the mountain, your body starts to feel tired again, but you try not to slump over. Levi has enough of a challenge navigating his way down this mountain, and so you struggle to sit up and stay awake.
You should have known that he’d notice. “I told you - you can lean against me if you’re tired. I can take it.” One of his hands reaches to your shoulder and pushes you against him. You don’t resist it. He tightens his arms around you so you won’t fall and you let your head fall on his shoulder.
“Why are you so kind to me?” You ask, your voice hoarse and barely a whisper.
There’s a multitude of ways he could answer this, he thinks. It’s in his nature to help others, it’s what he does. He would have done it for anyone, be it Mathieu or Albert, or shit, even Max.
But that’s not why he raced to the top of this mountain and searched for you through the snow. You’re not just another person he saved; he realizes that he cares for you deeply - he’s just not ready to admit that out loud yet.
And so he pauses for a moment, thinking about how he should word this. “You once told me that you were happy we were friends. Well, I feel the same way. You’re my friend and I don’t want to see you get hurt.”
He stops himself from saying more. He wonders if his pause in answering gave his feelings away, or the tone of his voice.
But when he looks down at you, you’re already asleep.
——- ✶ ——-
Not many people notice when you arrive in Mursa. It’s too cold for most to be out and about, and so Levi takes you straight home. He noticed a few hours before that your condition was taking a turn for the worst again; he knew it was risky to make the descent in one day in such cold, but you wouldn’t have lasted long in that cave if he’d waited. Now he’s wondering if he did the right thing.
As Prince stops in front of the house, you’re met by Albert, Luka, and Max.
“Shit, what happened?” Max exclaims, helping Levi to bring you inside.
Levi doesn’t answer but takes you straight to your bedroom. “Max, run and get Dr. Egli. Tell him it’s urgent.” He looks at the other two men. “Luka, take the horse back to Mathieu’s. Albert, find the village elders. Tell them that Catherine has completed her task and returned from Mount Aspe.”
There was an authority in Levi’s voice and it had the three jumping to their tasks without question.
Once Dr. Egli arrives, Levi has changed you into clean clothes and covered you with blankets, recalling the events to the doctor as he checks your pulse. “She was conscious this morning. I thought it best to get her back here as soon as possible, but I’m worried I made everything worse.”
The doctor opens your eye to check dilation. “No, you made the right call. Keeping her up there would have been dangerous. Honestly, I’m impressed you were able to make it down safely and in good time.”
By now, the others have returned home and are standing restless beside the entrance to the bedroom.
“She’s extremely dehydrated, physically exhausted, and suffering from a mild hypothermia. Continue to give her warm water to drink. She should only consume liquids for now - I’d suggest bone broths.” He begins to pack up his case. If her condition begins to improve, you can have her take a warm bath, but nothing like that yet.”
“Isn’t there some medicine or something you can give her?” Levi asks.
“There’s not much more that can be done. It is really up to her will to survive now. She has to fight.”
——- ✶ ——-
It’s so cold.
One moment you were riding with Levi down the mountain, his strong arms holding you up as you drifted in and out of sleep, and then everything became cloudy and disoriented. Your body goes numb, but you feel separate from your physical self, your mind in another place entirely.
Your eyes open and you’re in Mursa, and a voice tells you to hold on.
They open again and you’re in your bedroom, a cold stethoscope on your chest.
Time has lost meaning. You live only from one small conscious moment to another.
You hear muffled voices outside your room.
“And you saw it? The fire burned through the night?”
“Yes. The wind from the blizzard made it almost impossible, but I made sure the fire stayed lit throughout the night. She completed her tasks as glevora.”
“What would you, an outsider, know about it?”
“Because I experienced it myself.” This voice got stern. “The bridge was opened.”
The voices fade. You open your eyes once more to see Levi sitting next to your bed.
“Hey. You need to drink this.”
Warm liquid fills your stomach. The fog is clearing, but you still feel lost, clawing your way back to life.
Come back, Catherine.
Come back.
Your eyes open. The room is dark and still around you, only a clock marking time in the distance. You stretch your sore muscles and turn to see a figure sleeping in the chair next to you, his head leaning on his hand.
“Levi..”
His head lifts up immediately and his features brighten when you say his name. “Hey. How are you feeling?”
“Better, I think. How long have I been home?”
“You’ve been in and out of sleep for two days.”
“Two days…” you push the bedding away. “I need to talk to the elders and let them know the ritual was completed.”
Levi stops you from getting up with a gentle hand on your shoulder. “It’s the middle of the night. And they’ve already been by. I took care of it.”
He helps you lie back down. “Let me get you something to drink.”
As he leaves, you begin to remember some of the moments from the last few days. In every memory, Levi was there, getting you to drink, checking your temperature, helping you through. You’re sure if it wasn’t for him, you’d be dead by now.
This man, who a few months ago was a total stranger, has saved your life. And perhaps, even given you a reason to live.
——- ✶ ——-
In the morning, everyone is coming by to check on you. It’s the day before Jul and the mine is closed until the new year, which means Max, Albert, and Luka have been charged with taking care of you until Levi returns from working at the stables. Pots and pans clamor as they make meals for you and you wonder if Levi will box their ears later for making a mess in the kitchen. There’s always at least one of them with you in your room, almost as if they’re afraid to let you out of their sight. You generally don’t like people making a fuss over you, but you’re too tired to feel uncomfortable.
Luka and Albert spend the afternoon with you in your room playing chess while Max seems to be busying himself around the house.
“Jul is tomorrow - shouldn’t you all be making your way home to see your families?” you ask the two men as they stare intently at the board.
“We couldn’t leave until we knew that you were gonna be ok,” Albert says, moving his rook.
Luka studies the board. “All of our homes are a quick train ride away anyway. We’re all planning to leave in the morning.” He moves his queen. “Check.”
You fall asleep to them arguing over who’s a better chess player. When you awake, the sun is going down and you hear more voices in the corridor. You decide to venture from your room to see what all the commotion is about.
In the sitting room stands a tall evergreen tree. Luka is wrapping sparkling tinsel around it while Albert and Max look through a box of decorations. Even Levi is there, but he seems to be supervising the three others.
“Luka, it’s all lopsided, are you blind?” Levi complains. “And why the hell are we decorating a tree with all this shit anyway?”
Before any of them can answer Levi, Max spots you in the entryway. Seeing you brace yourself against the wall, he runs over to help you.
“We wanted to surprise you and give some holiday spirit to the place,” Max says as he helps you to the sofa.
“So this is what you were up to this afternoon.” You smile at Max. “Thank you.”
Max blushes. “We just wanted to see you smile.”
You help them decorate the tree and as the evening wears on, they sing songs and read stories of Mursa’s holiday traditions, which Levi listens to with growing interest.
And through it all, you smile. You’re so thankful for these four people and the effort they’re taking to help you, but the weight of this week still falls heavy on you. It’s almost too much for you to bear.
“I’m still feeling a bit worn-out, so I should go to bed. But thank you, all of you, for making this evening so special.”
They all walk with you to your bedroom, “Happy Jul!” and “Goodnight!” being said as everyone hugs you.
Levi is the last one in your room but instead of leaving, he closes the door. You look at him, that same pleasant smile across your face, but he just stands there, his arms crossed.
“Stop. You don’t have to do that with me,” he says bluntly.
“What do you mean?”
“Smile like everything is fine.” He moves closer. “You’ve been through a lot. You don’t have to act like you haven’t.”
Slowly, the ends of your mouth turn downward and tears fill your eyes.
In an instant, Levi is sitting on the bed and pulling you into an embrace. He lets you cry, your tears soaking the collar of his shirt.
Just like that, three years of pushing through and saving face come crumbling down and you let it all out with each sob.
There’s something about this man that makes you feel like you can be yourself; you can take off the mask and lay bare all your fears and anxieties. For once, you want to share those feelings with someone.
But for right now, it’s enough to be here in his arms.

[Age Chart]  [Extra Notes]
~~~~~
Stuff happens and Danny runs to Gotham to escape from the GIW. Standard Batfam crossover. The fact that it hides his presence means the hunters can't find him. It also means he can't leave. At least not yet. His original plan is to recoup (Maybe he's very injured) and eventually find a way to the ghost zone himself. (Wulf and Cujo also can't find him?) So he keeps his head down and gets by. Using his powers at the barest minimum.
A month or so into his stay, the fuckery that revives Jason happens. Danny can tell before it happens that something is about to go down, and with a little effort, can kind of tell the areas it affected. The first person he makes it to is Jason, and using intangibility, is able to pull him out of his grave in time.
Notice I said First person. I don't think that Jason was the only person resurrected at that time. He was just the only one with enough training to remain calm enough in horrible situations; and be able to take stock and dig himself out before he died again.
Danny can still feel the other areas, and knows he has to get to them fast, but he doesn't want to leave this panicking and injured kid by himself. (Jason looks younger than he is due to malnutrition from the streets) (Resurrection only heals death injuries enough for them to not die again right away, the worse the death…)
So as carefully and as quickly as he can, Danny carries Jay with him to the other cemetery. He manages to get to a pair of young twins just in time but… Angst Potential: Because he spent the time to calm down Jason and the twins, he wasn't able to get to the last resurrected before they died a second time. But he keeps this to himself so the others don't feel guilty about needing comfort. Maybe this eats him alive for years, the second chance that could have, but never happened. (The OC’s Here are optional, but they have grown on me, and the bonding Jay and Danny could have from raising 4year old twins is marvellous) (Though as a replacement for them, maybe it could be a de-aged Dani instead?)
He takes them back to the place he’d been staying at, and starts doing his best to take care of them. But I think it is cannon (?) that the Reso leaves them very disoriented and injured, especially Jason. He can't go to the hospital and he can't go to Frostbite yet, he does what he can but he's at a loss of what to do. Eventually he notices that the small amount of ectoplasm he emits seems to be helping, but is not near enough. So he goes to get more.
In this AU lets say that Gotham also has a Lazarus pit under the city. But it is not accessible by normal human means.
In Cannon Jason gets kidnapped by the League of Assassins, and tossed in their personal Lazarus Pit. And going by the headcannon: “Leagues pit is so extremely contaminated from humans taking dips in it it's Absolutely Septic and that's the reason Pit Rage happens”
Danny, who knows how to Not contaminate samples, and knows that submerging a fleshy human wholesale in it is Not A Good Idea Ever. Does Not Do That. But rather he slowly introduced them to enough of it for them to start healing, and while that does prevent pit rage and the worst consequences of becoming liminal; It does mean that it is slow going.
Now Danny is now the sole caretaker of these newly Not Deads who are essentially very sick and need lots of care, when he was barely supporting himself, maybe even before he's fully healed. Angst.
This also means that he can't in good conscience just leave them to go to the Zone, but who knows what would happen if he took them with him. So now he's stuck in Gotham for two reasons. (He becomes one of the sole reasons that the coffee shop on the corner is still in business)
When Jason heals enough for most of the brain fog to leave, he helps out Danny where he can, mostly watching the twins when Danny is out and making food. Anyways, blah blah bonding and raising kids and learning how to Live again ensue (Could be taken as shipping i guess, but i prefer brotherhood here) (No secret relation, as much as i love those, i just want these nerds to find comfort in each other for no other reason than being themselves)
I'm also going to say that Danny is 16 during these events, but thanks to his fathers genetics, he can easily pass as 18 or even 20, so he does.
Resurrection screws with memories, the only thing they can remember, at first, with any detail is their deaths. We could have Jason slowly piece who he was together one memory at a time, OR my favourite; Have him regain everything at once the first time he sees the brand new Robin. Cue angst at being replaced “so easily” (This is how Danny finds out) and refusing to tell Bruce he's back.
Danny’s totally down because of his mistrust of billionaires and also the now engrained “Holy Shit Is That The Bat If He Finds Out I Have Powers He’ll Kick Me Out, I Can't Leave The Safety Of Gotham!”
(Jason: Safety??? In Gotham?! What the hell are you on?!?) (This is how Jason finds out)
Despite being a lot less murdery in this AU, Jason still becomes the Red Hood. Mostly to protect and help his new family, but also because his hero instincts are not muddled by the pit rage. Maybe he sends severed hands to the police instead of heads?
The full mask and modulator mean the Batfam can't recognize him, and he's in no hurry to correct that. However, he also doesn't antagonise them. He has new brothers to protect, and he doesn't want to give the Batfam Incentive to find out about them.
But despite Jason's indifference (He doesn't care. He Doesn’t. He has Danny and the twins and an honestly shitty apartment that still feels like home. And who even cares if there's a New Robin? It's not like it matters to him! He doesn't care he swears) he still becomes sort of friends with the others.
There's a camaraderie between all Gotham vigilantes that's just a hazard of the job. (That purple girl also just won't leave him alone, but she's fun so it's okay.)
Although he does keep a distance from Dick and his replacement. He has a better big brother now, after all. But even Jason admits that having Nightwing as an ally is pretty useful. (Jason missed him so much).  And he doesn't need to get closer to the replacement to know why he's such a better Robin, so why bother.
Time passes and they never do figure out who Jason is, though there are some close calls. (Tim has his suspicions but no proof) (He keeps it to himself for now) Most of them consider the Red Hood as an ally by now, except for Bruce, who's still a bit peeved he cant find anything on this guy. Surely they should have found at least one of his safe houses by now. (Danny cackles maniacally in the background)
And then Bruce gets pulled into the time stream, and is presumed dead.
I want to disclaim here that I know practically nothing about this DC plot line. Just that it took about a year for him to get out, and Tim was the only one that didn't believe he was dead. And that this Hush guy played the part of Bruce a few times (Although why convince Gotham that Brucie Wayne was still alive if you thought he was dead? Comic logic I guess.)
But for the purpose of this AU let's say it was caused by something similar to what caused The Resurrection. (which i also know nothing about. Something about superman?)
Danny, Being Danny, goes to check it out like he did last time. But instead of finding Re-Alived people, he also gets pulled into the time stream as well.
Maybe he meets up with Bruce, maybe he doesn't. But he's gone from Gotham now and isn't likely to return for a while. Or maybe he finds his own way out, but because he's no longer in Gotham, the GIW are able to find and capture him. Angst.
With Danny suddenly gone and no way to find him, and Bruce dead with no way to reconcile with him, Jason enters panic mode. “If Danny’s no longer in Gotham then can the hunters find him?? What if they already have him?!?”
The remaining Batfam members learn who Jason is, either because he lets too much slip, or he eventually flat out goes to them for help. There is a re-reunion that no one can really appreciate due to… Well. Everything.
Unfortunately Dick cant help him out much. With his new responsibilities both as Batman and as the new single parent Guardian of Damian. Tim spends his time looking for Bruce, Cass is off doing her own things, and Steph does offer to help, but there's not much they can do with little to no information.
Jason now has to decide if he wants to stay with the twins and hope Danny finds his own way back, or leave them with someone while he starts searching. He could leave them with Dick and Damian, or he could leave them with Roy.
This is about the point where my ideas get a lot less concrete and writable… but ~*Eventually*~ Everyone is reunited and can bond and grow as the Giant and Ridiculous family they were always destined to be :} Just as slightly more functioning people. (or at least Jason is)
I have many more ideas for this, but not a lot of them would fit in this concept post. So expect a separate post for those later.
12 DAYS OF GIFMAS… DAY 4, your oc in another fandom or universe: SHIRA VYRN from DRUMMING SONG in the Marvel Universe.
“Tell me a story of tragedy. Of torment and false hopes. He loves her the way flesh loves the ocean — his love for her is like a breath of fresh air. She loves him like frostbite loves a fire — too close, too much, too late. In the way Icarus flew too close to the sun, they are destined for doom and yet, it’s all too appealing. They could never be together — could never be happy. And withal, that is the appeal, for what is humankind without agony?
ORIGINAL / ELYSE
. . . in which a wronged assassin sets a skillful trap for her attacker from years before — it’s a masterful plan, no tactical errors. yet … she finds that perhaps, she was wrong. and as the saying goes… too little, too late.
Chapter 30
Tumblr media
Warnings: None
Copyright: I do not own any Marvel characters or locations. However, I do own my OC: Elizabeth Y/L/N (created so you don't get Y/N and Y/S/N consistently mixed up. I do not condone any copying of this.
A LOT OF PREPARATIONS WENT INTO ELIZABETH'S wedding. Your father had a huge fight with Tony about who was going to pay for the wedding. In the end, your father won.
That of course meant the wedding was going to be on a smaller scale, but that was probably for the best. Elizabeth would prefer the smaller wedding, and it would also give your family less people to embarrass yourself around.
To be fair, most of everyone who was going to be invited was already there. Fury, Maria, Coulson, Hope, Scott, Wong, Peter, May, Happy, Pepper, and MJ would have to fly in. Fandral, Volstagg, Sif, and Frigga would be beamed down. But other than that, there wasn't really anyone else Elizabeth had planned on inviting.
Your mother rarely participated in the discussions, not even over Elizabeth's dress. Natasha was going to step up into that role until Frigga had come down and said she already had a dress ready for Elizabeth.
However, dad lost the fight against the Queen of Asgard for the price of the dress. You weren't entirely sure he would've been able to pay for it anyways.
A church was booked, something you thought Loki would scoff at but he seemed to respect it which made you relax some.
Stephen had been added to those that Elizabeth was going to marry as his tattoo was also fully coloured, leaving only Steve and Bucky out of it. You wanted to ask how they felt about Sam marrying Elizabeth, but you knew the better thing was to pretend the gap didn't exist at all. Things went smoother that way.
Originally, Elizabeth was only going to have Natasha and Wanda be her bridesmaids, but once realizing that Sif would also be one, she enlisted Pepper to be the fourth. She had to have even numbers.
You had told your soulmates that after Elizabeth's wedding, you wouldn't mind getting married yourself. Within the next year or so, it didn't have to be immediate. But the conversation between Elizabeth and you had opened up a part of you that wanted to take your next step in life. And that meant getting married, having children, having a family.
The snow came down thick in the middle of November which meant Steve and Bucky weren't leaving the house. They didn't deal with the cold well.
Loki was okay with the cold, but it often made his skin turn blue, but he didn't mind his Jotun form as much and you were glad about that. Of course, in his Jotun form, only Thor, Elizabeth, and Frigga could actually touch him and not get frostbite.
The fall harvest came along before the wedding, so Elizabeth was out there taking care of pumpkin, corn, and squash. Hogun, Bruce, Clint, and Tony helped out. You wondered if they would start to prefer the farm over New York.
Surprisingly, this did not upset you like it might've months ago. With your soulmates on the farm, it seemed happier, busier, and more loving than it ever had. You could actually imagine your future family growing up on the farm. The idea might've even of made you happy, though you did want to return to New York more.
Your mother had held off on getting an abortion so far, at least to the point where she was starting to show. You knew she was also feeling trapped and had overheard her talking on the phone to a clinic. So you knew she was going to wait until you and your soulmates and your sister left back for New York to get the procedure done.
Thanksgiving came and it was passed at the farm house. Your grandparents on either side of the family came and joined you all for three days. Topped with all your soulmates, Frigga, Thor's Asgardian friends, and all of the others like Fury, Pepper, Phil, T'Challa, Shuri, Okoye, Maria, Scott, Hope, and all of the Guardians coming down to join a few weeks before the wedding, the house was crammed.
The guardians and Wakandans slept on their large ships, which they had parked- luckily not on the farm. You hoped everyone was comfortable.
Elizabeth, Wanda, Frigga, and your mother slaved in the kitchen for what felt like the entire day. You would've helped if you weren't scared you would burn the food or knock dishes over.
It helped too that the only thing they gave you to eat throughout the day was one of their homemade trays with cheese, butter, cream cheese, crackers, pepperoni, salami, and ham.
By the time dinner was done, everyone was starving. An extra table had been set up in the living room and everyone tried to mix themselves with company.
A huge carved turkey was placed on table. You saw Elizabeth looked a little upset about it and she muttered to you, "That was Tommy."
You tried not to laugh.
There were large bowls on the table was well filled with mashed potatoes, stuffing, mashed turnip, creamed onions, cranberry sauce, Brussel sprouts with bacon, and mixed rice. There were platters with corn on the cob dripping with butter, greenbean casserole, sweet potato casserole with marshmallow, a Waldorf salad, roasted squash with goat cheese and poached cranberries, spicy lemon cauliflower, mac and cheese, grape salad, and bread rolls.
The rolls had actually been imported in from Sauder Village in Ohio as there hadn't been enough leftover wheat to turn into flour to turn into yeast. Elizabeth had clearly dealt with the rolls because small incisions had been made into the sides of them so that they could be stuffed with butter the minute they'd been taken out of the oven.
You also knew that for dessert they had prepared a couple of pumpkin pies, two cherry pies, one apple pie, and all of them to be topped with a scoop of home made vanilla ice-cream. Elizabeth had also cooked a batch of brownies because she actually didn't like pie. Well, she liked pumpkin pie, but she didn't like anything else and she never ate the pie crust, only the filling. But she hated wasting food so she just preferred to make herself something else. There was also two very large pumpkin rolls with cream cheese frosting.
It was the most pleasant night you had had in a long time. There was no awkward silence- perhaps because it was Thanksgiving, perhaps because your grandparents didn't know about your mothers' medical decision, maybe because your mother was sitting with people who weren't aware of the conversation, maybe because your father wasn't sharing awkward stories or Elizabeth being forced to sit next to Steve or Bucky. Regardless, it was the best night of the stay.
The food was complimented on and devoured with very little for leftovers. You and your sister had remembered the old tradition of gift giving. Your sister was more prepared than you, having gifts for the Wakandans, Asgardians, Guardians, and extra Avengers that had popped in on you. To your slight surprise, she even included Steve and Bucky, though she was very quick in dropping their gifts on them and hurrying on to Loki.
The presents were little things. You knew Elizabeth always did some sort of simple wood carving. It was the only type of art that she was good at.
You also did a sort of art, which were small oil paintings. These paintings were done on canvas, which was rectangular shaped and just a little bigger than your hand. Over the years, you had done paintings on objects or things that you thought your family would be if they were such an object. Like when you'd done flowers, you had done a Magnolia Elizabeth flower for Elizabeth, Anthurium for your father, and a daylily for your mother.
This year was animals. Which was part of the reason you didn't have extra paintings. For one, you didn't know the others well enough to envision them as an animal. For another, you hadn't expected them to be here, even if you had.
And then, once you had thought there could be nothing more, as you all gathered in one large group in the living room, really nothing more than a pile of tangled limbs on the floor to give your grandparents and parents- you'd tried letting Frigga sit as well but she refused- the chairs, Elizabeth still had another surprise.
And so as you all watched the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving DVD, you between Steve and Tony, the former feeling rather nostalgic, Elizabeth brought out homemade hot chocolate with whipcream topped with marshmallows and peppermint shavings.
A few weeks later, December came along and things were even busier. Elizabeth was a little upset because she'd been told she wasn't allowed to make her own wedding cake. You'd overheard her arguing with dad that if she was allowed to make the wedding cake, it would be cheaper than him paying for it. But he was adamant that he was paying for her wedding. And that included the cake.
A week before the wedding, Thor pulled the two of you into a separate room.
"What's wrong?" Elizabeth demanded immediately. She was tense as a wire, now that there were seven days left till the wedding.
"Well, nothing." Thor admitted. "But I wanted to talk to the two of you."
"About?" You asked. One of the things that Thor loved to do the most, was draw out conversations that he thought might be awkward. He had to be nudged.
He hesitated and then said, "I've talked to my brother and mother. My mother believes that she has found a way that your mother could go through with the birth and feel no pain."
You blinked. "Really? But does the pain even matter? I just thought she didn't want another child?"
Elizabeth shifted on her feet awkwardly. "I mean, grandmother told me that it was because mother doesn't have a high pain tolerance. But there could be other reasons. . ."
You blinked and then realized you'd never asked who had told Elizabeth that your mother hadn't wanted her. You looked at her now, "Who did tell you?"
Elizabeth blushed a little. "Dad's mother."
You nodded and then looked at Thor, "How will it work?"
"Well, Loki and my mother will use magic and I will use my powers as the God of fertility to transfer the pain to another person. They will feel every contraction, cramp, kick, etc. that the mother would normally feel up until after your mother gives birth to your brother. Then the magic will diminish and you will no longer feel what your mother feels."
Admittedly, it did not exactly sound fun. You weren't entirely sure you wanted to do it if you weren't having your own child.
"I'll do it." Elizabeth was immediately, softly. "It's only right if I do it."
"Elizabeth, you don't have to." You said quickly.
Elizabeth shook her head, "Yes, I do. She didn't want me. So it's only fair if I take on this burden of pain."
'Your sister was born to free you.' Loki's voice whispered in your head. You shook it slightly to clear it.
"Er- actually." Thor interrupted sheepishly. "There's already been a volunteer."
You both blinked.
"Who?" Elizabeth asked in surprise.
"Natasha."
ₓ˚. ୭ ˚○◦˚.˚◦○˚ ୧ .˚ₓ
"WHY?" ELIZABETH DEMANDED THE MINUTE the two of you tracked down Natasha and found her. She was in the barn, petting one of the horses that were in there. She looked over at the two of you.
"Why what?"
"Why would you volunteer to take my mother's pain?" You finished.
"Oh that." Natasha said. "Because I want to."
"I don't understand why." Elizabeth continued stubbornly. "You don't owe my family anything. And you're willingly going to take this pain because. . .?"
"Because I can't have children." Natasha finished softly, feeding the horse a sugar cube. Elizabeth pursed her lips as the horse took the sweet treat it wasn't allowed to have, but said nothing in response. "The red room ripped my reproductive systems out the minute that I had my first mensuration cycle. This will be the closest I can get to feeling like I can have a child."
"That's why you ran from the table. . ." You whispered.
Natasha nodded, "I have nothing against your mother Elizabeth, Y/N, but I cannot stand women who throw their children away. They don't know how lucky they are, the fact that they can even have children. And I want children so badly and they just. . . they waste their gift. If the baby wasn't going to be your brother, I'd even offer to adopt him."
"I'm sorry Nat." Elizabeth said softly, looking like she wanted to hug the assassin, but restrained herself. "I cannot imagine how that. . . I cannot imagine not being able to have children."
You felt guilty, because you'd never really wanted children. Not really until recently. Your mother had always said that it wasn't important to have a lot of children. You only needed one to be happy. You'd always thought she'd said it because she wanted you to know that you were her favorite daughter. But now, you wondered if she was just bitter over Elizabeth.
Your grandmothers had both told you that children were the joy of their life. They'd both had over five children each and said it was the best time of their lives.
So you had grown up with mixed opinions and figured between 2-4 children would be fine to make everyone in your family happy.
But Nat was also right. Children were a gift given to you, either by God or Life, whichever one you believed in. And however many you had was what you got and you made do with it. And it didn't hurt that Tony had a huge place to keep all the children and raise them.
"Are you sure?" Elizabeth asked and you blinked. "Because I am more than willing to take my mother's pain."
"I'm sure." Nat said with a sad smile. "I've already made Loki and Frigga promise me they would transfer to me. Let me do this."
Elizabeth bowed her head slightly. "Okay."
"Thank you." Nat said and she turned away before we could see the tears fall from her eyes.
ₓ˚. ୭ ˚○◦˚.˚◦○˚ ୧ .˚ₓ
THE PROCESS WAS DONE THE FOLLOWING day. Everyone in the house was surprisingly silent, almost everyone in the living room. Elizabeth was standing at the window, staring outside, her arms crossed over her chest. You knew she was crying, though you weren't sure why. But that was why her back was turned. Her arms were crossed to hide the fact her body was wracking with silent sobs.
You didn't watch her so that no one else would watch her. But Steve kept looking up from his book to look at her back and you wondered if there was something about this situation that would make their relationship change.
If it would ever change. You were starting to doubt whether they would ever make the status change.
Everyone else was reading, except you and Clint, who were just laying in each others embrace. Clint was half asleep.
The silence was suffocating until the door upstairs opened. Elizabeth turned her head a fraction of an inch while you lifted yours.
Frigga entered the room, touching Elizabeth's shoulder gently. "It is done." She was smiling a secret smile and you wondered what she had been up to.
Elizabeth nodded, refusing to show her face to anyone and quickly slipped through the door. Hogun was on his feet in an instant, grabbing his and her jacket to run after her.
Clint squeezed your hand. You knew he'd been worried about Nat. No one had known what the procedure would require and he was her best friend. He'd been worried something would go wrong and she would get hurt, or even die.
You kissed his cheek and let him up so that he could go upstairs and see her. You'd probably join him in a moment.
"Thank you." You murmured to the Queen of Asgard. "I mean, I know it's not like you saved someone's life or anything, but I do appreciate-"
"But I did Y/N." Frigga said softly. "I saved your brothers' life."
You just nodded and she smiled. Thor and Loki quickly joined the group. Loki seemed silent, but that was usually normal. Thor on the other hand was smiling brilliantly. You gave Loki a curious look.
Loki pulled you to the side, "He could foresee your brother for a little bit. He's always been like this with children. It excites him."
You nodded in understanding.
Nat came down the stairs with Clint. There was no obvious change in her, though she seemed to smile just a little more.
"Where's Elizabeth?" She asked you.
"With Hogun. She was crying and she went outside." You relayed and then wondered if you should get a filter for your mouth. You doubted she wanted anyone to know she'd been crying.
Nat nodded and then said, "I don't blame her. I'll find her later then. I'm sure she wants to be alone right now."
You privately agreed but said nothing.
ₓ˚. ୭ ˚○◦˚.˚◦○˚ ୧ .˚ₓ
YOU WERE LOOKING FOR ELIZABETH three days later. They wanted her for the alcohol tasting- which you knew she wouldn't want to attend in the first place. But you still offered to go and find her.
You found her in the most surprising spot, the spot on the trail that still gave you nightmares and sent shivers down your spines along with a stab of guilt straight to the heart.
"Why are you sitting here?" You asked softly, standing back from the cliff edge. Elizabeth was sitting there with her back to you, legs dangling over the edge.
"I came here to think. I always sit here when I need to think." Elizabeth said. "It's a memorable place."
You stayed silent on that bit. "They wanted you for wine tasting."
"I don't think I'm a good judge. It all tastes like hand sanitizer to me. I'll take apple cider for when I'm supposed to have white wine and grape cider for red wine."
You smiled a little and then it faltered. "Why here? There's only bad memories here."
"For you maybe." she replied. "But I learned things here. Unspoken rules and lessons."
"What I said that day-"
"Was all true. I never blamed you. You were young." Elizabeth replied.
"So were you." You whispered, tears piling up in your eyes. You wiped them away bitterly. It wasn't as though you were the victim.
You remembered the two of you riding along the path on horses. Elizabeth's horse was closer to the edge. She'd braided her hair into pigtails with two huge ribbons on the tops. She'd been wearing a pink tutu over blue jeans as well, because her father had told her that farm girls always wore jeans and your mother had said girls wore princess skirts and she'd tried pleasing both of them.
You could remember you yourself was wearing a neat skirt and a blouse with a long ribbon tied in the front. You'd brushed your hair out till it shone, trailing down your back.
You remembered the conversation had turned to soulmates, just as the sun dipped behind a cloud to give the both of you some relief, though the trees mostly kept the sun out anyways.
You could remember every word that was spoken, you could remember every facial expression, every thought inside your head, and every movement. You could remember the scream.
"You're still living in the past." Elizabeth said. You blinked to see she was looking at you over her shoulder now. Once she knew you were back in the present she turned back around.
"It's getting cold, are you sure you don't want to come back up to the house? Queen Frigga said it's going to snow tonight." You avoided a reply.
"I'll be back soon. I have to cook dinner." Elizabeth replied.
You hesitated. You felt like there was something you should say, something you were supposed to say. Or perhaps even an action you should take. But you said and did nothing more than turning and walking away.
I cried when I read this. I say I cry a lot but this one 100% made me sob like a baby. The mark of a good fic.
Peter Parker
The Avengers vs The Peter Factor | midnightwolf2192 on AO3
I have only read the first part but it was amazing and I'm sure it is worth the 80k read and I will be finishing it soon. It's the soft kind of heartbreak and it's marvellous.
Tony Stark & Pepper Potts
This is 120k of the best thing I've ever consumed in my entire life. The Oc's are perfect. Gally's characterization is perfect. Everything is perfect. I haven't read something that touched me this much (or kept my interest the entire way) in a very long time and I will be returning often.
A little bit in love with you | whatthefrickledickle on AO3
