who: @n8-shaw
when: thanksgiving, a few hours into the night
logan's father had a few beers. and when he had a few beers, he got goofy. and when logan's father got goofy, logan got embarrassed. "excuse me, kiddo," jared scooted around nate before doing an exaggerated double take. "whoa oh, let me say that a little louder if you can't hear me up there. how's the air up there?"
"dad." logan suddenly materialized, embarrassing dad spidey sense prickling up the hairs on the back of her neck. "leave him alone. come on," she tugged at his arm.

who: @n8-shaw
when: right before spring fling
charlie did not feel a sense of urgency around deadlines, which was why she was constantly late. it's not that she didn't want to be on time- it was just that she was easily distracted, which is how she found herself half zipped into her dress, makeup about three-quarters finished, laying disheveled on her bed watching a ten-part tiktok storytime. "i can hear you walking around out there," she yelled through the door without pausing her video.

she didn't rise to the barb; of course it was if she said so. everything was true if she said it. "what an invasive question. at least buy a girl dinner first." of course, he had already seen her naked, but this was far more personal. there was an unread email burning a hole in her inbox, and she wasn't ready to address it. "why? gonna miss me? i'm gonna miss you," she grinned, so sincere in her insincerity. "if you want a polaroid to remember me by, bidding's already started, so better get yours in soon."
"I guess I'll see myself out then," Nate muttered, forever the champion of throwing a pity party. But what was he, if not normal, at least in comparison to most of the people that he knew? From the Hamptons, at least those that summered there, and not the other townies like Nate, from Ogden...Charlie had it wrong. He was different from everyone else. He didn't just think he was - he knew he was. Those differences had been held against him, more than once. But he didn't want to be reminded of them, didn't want to think of them, and certainly didn't want to point them out to her, so he just shrugged up his shoulders, not meeting her eyes. "If you say so," he said, abruptly changing the subject instead. "You manage to graduate?"

👐 snog marry pie: travis, shane, nate
“This feels entirely loaded but in the spirit of the game… I’d pie Nate simply because he brings up seeing my side boob any chance he gets, marry Travis- even with Mrs. Wilson and our boys trying to make Shane my husband, and I guess that leaves snogging Shane… even though that feels unnatural to even say.”

Some morning sometime at the Hamptons House [ @n8-shaw ]
"Dude, what the fuck do you mean?" Ollie said, leaning across the large island kitchen counter to grab some bacon for his breakfast. "You know you can't graduate without a major, right? Like how are you expecting to fill out all the credits you need?" Nate didn't really respond to lectures so Ollie didn't add the 'what the hell have you been doing for the past four years?' part that went through his head. "I get thinking about the future is hard, but honestly just separate 'picking a major' from 'the future'. No one is going to give a fuck what you studied in college. Just pick something easy and go with it. Have you tried business? I've already gone through it so like I can just do all that stuff for you… Do you want me to pull up the Ogden website so we can see what they offer. We can throw it into a randomizer and have that pick for you."

starter for: @nate-strauss location: septima poinsette clark library
Eli had been begging Shane for what felt like forever to let him attend Lego Club at the library more often. And, against his introverted nature, Shane had finally relented. He knew his son needed more social interaction than he got on the ranch. While solitude suited Shane just fine, it wasn’t fair to hold Eli back from opportunities to connect with other kids.
The second they stepped through the library doors, Elijah took off toward the designated tables, seamlessly slipping into conversation with the other kids. Shane lingered for a moment, a rare, almost-smile tugging at his features as he watched his son dive into something he loved.
With a satisfied nod, he turned, making his way toward a quiet corner where he could sit and still keep an eye on Eli. He was only halfway there when a familiar face stopped him in his tracks—one he hadn’t expected to see.
“Nate?” He adjusted course, heading toward his old friend. It had been a while since Nate had suddenly left Briar Ridge, and as far as Shane knew, he wasn’t supposed to be back.

@intrcducingme sent: 😴 - a starter where my muse is comforting your muse after a nightmare. ( add + reverse for your muse to comfort mine )
normally sonny didn't have nightmares. if anything, if she was extremely exhausted she would sleep walk and destroy things. however, this wasn't the case. her nightmare filled with the faces of people that she loved betraying her. leaving her for the worst. it was enough to cause her to wake up gasping. feeling the tears spill from her cheeks as her gaze scanned the area. realizing she has fallen asleep in the prop house. at the same time, nate wandered in and almost immediately came to comfort her. in which she sniffled and pulled her usual excuse, “i'm fine.. i'm okay.”

"okay so, i'm supposed to ask you how this makes you feel." logan's tone was flat as she spun around her laptop to show nate a classic black and white ansel adams shot of some mountain. logan would rather write a fifty page final essay than do a group project, especially one assigned by her hippie photography professor who emphasized how the art made them feeeeel versus the elements of photography. "and i hope you've got something better than 'that's a big mountain' because... that's all i've got."

Nate's Place with Nate Cooper @aqxatofana
Adrenaline had been coursing through her system too strongly during the party for it to sink in what had actually happened. It was only once the high had left her and the chaos had cleared that she any of the actual details reached her. She had quickly pieced enough together to know she needed to head to Nate's, using her key and announcing her presence so he didn't think her some intruder. "Let myself in." Checking on her older brother had seemed like the right thing. He hadn't been able to catch a break and now he had to deal with the knowledge that his boss, the man he believed he owed so much to, was dead and that the daughter of the family he was there to protect had been shot. "Have you eaten yet? I got a discount for that pizza place down the street." Caretaker wasn't a role that she usually rushed to pick up and although she did want to be there for Nate, there was no denying she had an ulterior motive too. "You know how she's doing?" Cami, that was. "I brought beer too, didn't know what kind of mood you'd be in." More for herself than him if he decided he want to talk but she lived in hope he might just decide to drown his sorrows with her for company.

"do you actually need me to spell it out for you, or do you just want a compliment? that's very unflattering, nathaniel," she cautioned him with a purse of her lips. frankly, she wasn't sure that was his full name, but what else could nate stand for? natalie? "but if that's what you need, i was just thinking that as much as i like you fully clothed," and she meant that sincerely - there was something about nate's reticence, his sincerity, or was it his evident dislike of her that she enjoyed? "but i certainly had no complaints when you weren't."
"Do you now?" he mused, an eyebrow arching in response at her. Nate wasn't always the smartest - but the way Charlie smirked at him was easy enough to read, his head tipping towards one shoulder slowly as he considered her. "What are you thinking right now?" he asked in a slow drawl, his accent coating the words more thickly than usual as he spoke, the game easy enough to play, even if he wasn't entirely sure about it.

WHERE: Sons of Silence Clubhouse WITH: @nathaniel-donovan
There was something about the way Cole kept staring at the glass of whiskey in his hand that made him think he might actually find an answer at the bottom of it. Or maybe that was just wishful drinking, because the closer he got to draining the glass dry, the more lost he felt, and it frustrated him. Lifting the glass, he swirled the amber liquid around, like he was waiting for it to numb his raw edges, but it wasn’t– not really. All of his life, he’d found ways to compartmentalize everything he felt, to shove it down and keep moving, but after confronting the bomber and learning such damning truths, Cole just felt…stuck, like this was the one time he couldn’t push back against all the thoughts and feelings piling up inside his head. Over and over, he just kept seeing the faces of three good men who were dead when it should have been him. Feeling suffocated by it all, like there was nowhere for him to go to escape it, there was that urge to claw his way out of his own skin– little else was working, and the silence all around him had become absolutely deafening. Frustration mounting to a fever pitch, he clutched the glass in his hand and hurled it towards the wall, watching as it shattered into thousands of little fragments. Unleashing a long, strained sigh, he buried his face in his hands for a moment, slowly breathing in and out, just begging for his mind to stop. Throughout each day, he did everything he could to soldier on, because the people around him couldn’t afford for him not to. But it was in these quiet hours that the way he’d been avoiding his own problems tended to sneak up on him and sink their teeth in deep. Cole didn’t know how long he’d been sat like that, measuring each breath he took, before a knock on his office door had him raising up, hurriedly collecting himself. He’d thought the clubhouse had cleared out hours ago. It was one reason he’d chosen to stay back that night. He’d chalked it up to routes and paperwork that he needed to sort through, but really, Cole just couldn’t bear the thought of bringing anyone else down with him. At least here, in his solitude, he couldn’t do that– or so he’d thought, and now briefly, he wondered if they’d heard the glass shatter against the wall. Clearing his throat, he straightened in his seat, “Come in.”
