for @ggaudetmd
After years of suppression, there was a strange chaos in observing festivities such as this one with his empathy unrestrained. Adrasia had quickly learned to draw back from the emotional imprints of the past within the castle walls, where too many painful stories had come to a sudden end. The surface level emotions were easier to sort through, lingering in the back of his mind like the gentle whisper of waves. For so long the celestial had been deprived of what was essentially another sense for him and now that it had been returned the world seemed far more vivid than before and its inhabitants far less strange. Finding an advantageous spot and letting the party flow around him, Adrasia took many long moments to appreciate that renewal and to scrutinize those in the castle who had confused and angered him the most.
Some minds were as shallow and brutal as he'd imagined. Some Adrasia dared not focus on with intent, lest he draw unwanted attention. He scowled only a moment at the Italian councilman in profile across the room, skated his attention lightly over Alasdair's prickling frustration with a sympathetic twist of his mouth. Perhaps it would be worth it to try and distract the young man. Then came the discordant note: panic, so sudden and sharp that the angel's head whipped towards it as if he'd heard a gunshot.
Adrasia recognized that dark head. Gabriel, the warlock, the third son. In idle observation, the celestial had merely taken him for one of Dair's leering audience. But Gabriel was not looking at the nephilim now, no, whatever he had seen had his face taut and waxy with anger. Without realizing it Adrasia had taken a few steps in the other's direction, instinctively moving towards the source of so vivid a fear. The urge to protect was a powerful one, but from what? Before he could begin to answer that question and consider if it was even right to move to protect this particular individual, the councilmen's child was moving. In the end, it took only a second for Adrasia to decide to follow.
The intensity of that emotion was the only way he managed to track him and the celestial hesitated with his hand on the washroom door. His intercession would likely not be welcome and Gabriel was not a man to flippantly offend, if he was anything like his fathers. But the panic had been real and the look in his eyes... Adrasia's own hardened with certainty and the slave slipped carefully inside after his quarry. The air within smelled sour; he could hear a shaky breath inside the stall. He closed the door behind him near-silently and gave the other a long moment while the celestial deliberated internally. Quietly, Adrasia poured the contents of his glass down the sink and filled it up again from the tap. "It's Gabriel, isn't it?" He said softly once the faucet had turned off, "There's no one else. Would you like some water to rinse your mouth?"

Miray was pushing herself too hard, she knew that, she didn't care. she had been told by her physio to start trying light excersise, it wasn't her fault if her definition of light was different to his. Since leaving hospital she'd found herself out walking with Mina a lot. It was good for her, and her kid got to run around and get her energy out. Everything was going well besides some pain when Miray walked into the last person she wanted to see while with Mina. "Gabe hey.... what brings you to the area?"

"Oh hey Gabriel, it's not very often I see you in a setting where I'm not half naked surrounded by other half naked women." Seraphina laughed, looking down at her costume. It was a body suit with leaves, not the most covered outfit in the entire world. It maybe maybe even less than she often wore at Seduction. "Let me buy you a drink?"

The act was almost a bit much for Magnai. Almost. He was still letting Noel get his occasional enrichment by tugging the alpha around, after all. The warlock in front of him, Magnai suspected, would be far less difficult to predict than his mercurial relative. "How very accommodating." Was that an eagerness to please he detected, lurking under the confident flirtatiousness written all over Gabriel's face? Magnai eyed his would-be seducer with the speculative air of a man who had spent many years assessing others for obedience that precluded any training. The easiest slaves, after all, were the ones who went to their knees with the least amount of fight. Gabriel was no slave, but... it was a difficult perspective to simply shut off. And Magnai didn't hate the idea of the councilman's son on his knees either. It was the last thing he expected in a De Luca. Nearly too good an opportunity to pass up.
"What if patience works best for me, hm?" Magnai proposed, straightening suddenly out of his leaning posture to fix Gabriel with a sharper stare - though the wolf was still smiling, thin and amused like he was enjoying a private joke. "You've made quite the proposition. Would be a shame to test the limits of your abilities with a quick tumble in the coat closet tonight, don't you think, Gabriel?" He took his time with the warlock's name, wrapping around the pronunciation of each syllable in mimicry of the other's accent. "I'm not interested in rushing with you."
Tumblr media
Magnai’s attempts at maintaining a coldly uninterested demeanor were growing more and more feeble by the second, in Gabriel’s eyes. The varcolac wasn’t even trying to correct him anymore, for hell’s sake, and the warlock couldn’t help but wonder how the alpha’s cold skin would feel against his own. Would he be a rough lover, capable of offering to his partners pain and pleasure in an equal, ecstatic amount? Or would he be more gentle and caring than one would expect, looking at his intimidating figure? Gabriel was determined to find out, especially since, despite his biting sarcasm, Magnai had not shown any real disdain at what he was being offered. “Sorry, what was the question again? I got distracted when you said ‘pitch’ and ‘elevator.’ I wouldn’t mind being your catcher, in a scenario like that.” He said, with a carefully rehearsed innocent smile tugging on his lips. He had heard enough about Magnai that he was basically sure he would not fall for his himbo act, but it was still incredibly fun to flirt that way, for Gabriel.
He chuckled politely, shaking his head in amusement as Magnai threw at him another of his jabs. The half-incubus didn’t mind that at all: the alpha clearly had a sharp brain hidden under those majestic locks of hair, and Gabriel was incredibly fond of creatures that were beautiful, smart, and dangerous at the same time. “God, now who’s making it seem like a job interview, Mister Khasar?” He said, No real annoyance is detectable in his voice. “I guess my answer is ‘whatever works best for you.’ My species is renowned for its stamina, but a few minutes should still be able to do the trick once, provided that you know what you’re doing. I’m really flexible and versatile enough to meet any of my hypothetical boss’s needs.” He proclaimed, locking his hazel eyes on Magnai's with a confident and yet playful expression.

"i bet so, i've been in the spotlight for a lon' time" the captain replied eloquently, slightly amused by his own word choices. if analyzed more deeply, the phrase could be applied to both his personal life and brotherhood affairs.
"but for the record, i'm gonna introduce myself, yah? i'm heath. and yer quite far from your territory" words almost as insolent in tone as the vile grin the man now displayed "aren't ya, gabriel?" of course he knew who the other was. after a decade as a captain, is only fair to say faces and names flowed easily into his mind
Tumblr media
Gabriel actively does his part in keeping distance from Faux Folie, if only to avoid the Brotherhood members that frequent it. Alas, he's found himself here and fraternizing, sat at the bar and watching everyone around him. This has evidently called attention to himself.
"Well, I'm not." A people person, that is, though his tone lacks the hostility that it should have. As per usual, there's hardly anything behind his voice. "Water's fine," and it's said more to the bartender than the man beside him.
"You have a familiar face." Finally, his gaze returns to Heath.

“I’ve been watching you for some time now. I saw the way you wielded that sword. It’s a good fit for you. Did you enjoy tearing up poor Kuma?” “Not especially.” Zoro says flatly. "Don’t act like you’re so above it all. I think that you feel excited when you see blood. You don't have to be ashamed of it.” Zoro glares at him, watching him pace back and forth. “Did you become a homicide investigator because you get a kick out of seeing shattered bone and mutilated corpses? It’s not something we in polite society discuss very often." —Ch. 10, Tiger by the Tail by Vandereer (@dandunn)

It had been a rare day of doing absolutely nothing for Miray. She was sitting on a park bench, taking in the sun when she felt the sun suddenly vanish. with a sigh she opened her eyes and sat up. Miray pulled off her sunglasses and took in the man in front of her. Somewhere in the same park the daughter he didn't know he had was playing with her nanny and Miray willed them in her mind to stay where they were. "Gabe. What brings you to this neck of the woods and more importantly why are you blocking my sunlight?"

"Oh, there's plenty of the other things around here too, I'm willing to bet. I wish my parents had gotten a divorce." Honestly, Soren was kind of surprised Gabriel didn't know about Dmitri's background already. The explosion had been all over the Russian news when the human had arrived in the country, but then again, time marched on. If his coworker was in touch with current events at all, he'd probably assumed like Soren had that the Kremlin bomber was rotting in a cell somewhere or already executed. There was no stopping the dread on his face as Gabriel tried to tease him, Soren visibly cringing. "I'm not a playboy. Fucking hell, I hate when people say that. He'd already agreed to give the samples -- the sex was way after the tests and he started the flirting to begin with. Very aggressively, I might add." It had been a jarring change for Soren actually, far more used to being the pursuer than the pursued. At least, the girls who might have been in it for his money had class enough to not be obvious about it and probably had a decent share on their own. Soren wasn't opposed to taking a bit of bait when it came in the form of high heels and fluttery lashes glancing at him over a bar. Which - now that he thought about it wasn't so far from how Dmitri had persuaded him in the end.
Irrelevant. His throat bobbed as he swallowed nervously, making for the kettle across the room regardless. "I know. I'm making this for me now and if you want some, you'll have it. You make me nervous and I'm trying not to be." Well. At least that much must have been obvious to Gabriel without needing a spell to compel Soren into saying so. He managed to shoot him an irritated look at the second accusation. "I don't have any guinea pigs. I'm not interested in seducing anyone to get something out of them and I'm sure as hell not fucking my patients in this office." The next witty little comment was enough to blunt his ire though and Soren's expression lightened, blinking rapidly over his tea box. "I - didn't realize our fields of interest lay so close against each other." Truly. Then again, hadn't he always suspected his research was being done by supernatural interest groups, behind closed doors and far away from prying human eyes? "I didn't think you would want to help me. For some reason, I just can't get the niggling thought out of my head that the non-humans in this world are vastly uninterested in helping humankind catch up to them. Am I wrong?"

Ravi’s effort to evade Gabriel's questions by flooding him with words was honestly adorable. Even in his less-than-brilliant state, the warlock couldn’t help but think of a little mouse struggling to break free from the coiling spires of a snake about to eat him. “Terrorism? Really? Does anyone in this place come from a normal background? Something like… I don’t know, divorced parents, drug addiction, slavery?” He asked, disdained at the revelation and slightly disgusted at the idea of having touched a terrorist. A terrorist of what kind? Religious bigot? Bolshevik revolutionary? Hacktivist? It didn’t really matter: as a proud member of the one percent, Gabriel probably was everything that Shenker stood against. “Also, you’re a naughty boy, Ravi. I didn’t think you were such a player. We’ll just have to refine your taste in men, and you’ll be good to go!” He mused, his voice a little too nasal to really produce the teasingly mellow effect the warlock was going for.
As if on cue, Gabriel sneezed three times in a row, being forced to take a crumpled napkin out of his pocket to blow his nose. “You’re a doctor, Surendra, not my nanny. You’re not expected to take care of me, you know?” He mumbled before getting a little dizzy. He was honestly thinking about giving up when Ravi revealed a crucial piece of information. The one Gabriel had been after since the very start of this conversation. “Oh, I’m pretty sure what you’re doing is against every deontological rule of our profession, including the Hippocratic oath. Sleeping with a patient to get him to be your unknowing guinea pig? As I’ve already said, you’re a naughty boy, Ravi!” He exclaimed, a victorious smile brightening up his pale, tired face. To be totally honest, Gabriel didn’t think anyone in Oymyakon would give a damn about Ravi’s little secrets. He was still one of the most morally irreprehensible people in that place, probably. Gabriel, the petty creature that he was, was just deeply amused by his colleague’s distress, especially since it distracted him from his own pathetic current condition. “Haven’t you considered asking for the witch doctor’s help for your little scientific query? I’ve been working on your field of interest for decades, you know.” He mused, the hint of a smile visible on his lips. The warlock was curious to see Ravi's work, mostly to see if the human had been able to figure out any concepts he had somehow missed in his own research; concepts that could prove to be useful to him, one day. Gabriel thought that it was highly unlikely, but Fleming discovered antibiotics after a bunch of fungi killed his bacterial cultures. He would be foolish to underestimate the scientific contribution provided by spineless little pests.
