The Ultimate Inspiration Loop: From RPGs to How to Drink to My D&D Table!
Okay, Tumblr, I need to talk about one of the coolest full-circle moments of inspiration I've ever experienced, and it all revolves around Greg from How to Drink!
As someone who doesn't drink, I've always been fascinated by the creativity Greg puts into his cocktail videos. But what really blew my mind was seeing how often he draws inspiration from RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons and The Witcher for his concoctions. He's crafted drinks based on potions, character themes, and even in-game lore, making these amazing, imaginative beverages.
Then came the D&D movie, and eagle-eyed viewers (or those who had it pointed out to them like me!) spotted Greg's Grogs stall in the background! It was such a fun, subtle nod to his influence within the D&D community.
And that's where my story takes a personal turn. I was running a D&D game and suddenly needed a bartender NPC. My mind immediately went to Greg. It just clicked! I named my NPC bartender "Greg," and he instantly became a staple in my campaign. He ran a bustling tavern, served up unique (non-alcoholic, in my game's case!) brews, and generally added a fantastic vibe to our sessions.
The best part? My group and I have been writing our own in-game lore, including a series of recipe books called "Arcane Aperitifs" that detail the fantastical drinks Greg serves. It feels so natural, like he was always meant to be there, crafting these imaginary elixirs.
It's this beautiful, perfect circle of inspiration: Greg gets ideas from RPGs, he gets referenced in an RPG movie, and then he becomes a beloved NPC in my own RPG world, inspiring our in-game writing.
The only logical next step, the absolute pinnacle of this inspiration loop, would be for Greg himself on How to Drink to try making some of the concoctions from our "Arcane Aperitifs" books. Imagine that!

He Thought Betrayal Was One-Way — It Came Back Around He thought betrayal was a one-way street. That he could take and take without ever paying the price. But betrayal isn’t a straight line — it’s a circle. And when it came back around… He wasn’t ready.

Scheffler matches PGA Tour scoring record in ‘pretty special’ full-circle victory
Top-ranked Scottie Scheffler matched the lowest 72-hole score in PGA Tour history on Sunday, overwhelming the field to complete a wire-to-wire victory at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson tournament. In his final tune-up for the PGA Championship in two weeks, the 28-year-old from nearby Dallas finished 72 holes on 31-under par 253 at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas. That matched the lowest total strokes…

The Teacher's Reunion Shaina Tranquilino November 17, 2024
Tumblr media
Chantel pushed open the double doors of the high school gym, the faint scent of floor polish and aged wood wafting toward her like a ghostly echo of the past. The reunion buzzed with voices layered in laughter and exclamations of surprise, faces lit by strings of fairy lights that wound along the walls. It had been fifteen years since she'd last walked these halls, an insecure teenager wrapped in self-doubt, unaware of the woman she would become. She smoothed her navy-blue dress and glanced around, her heart thudding with a blend of anticipation and nerves. Former classmates stood in clusters, some looking shockingly unchanged, others with crow’s feet and silver streaks marking their stories. As she approached the refreshments table, her eyes caught a slight, familiar figure near the corner.
Mrs. Eberle stood there, her silver hair now piled into an elegant bun, and her eyes—still sharp behind gold-rimmed glasses—scanned the room with an amused, warm detachment. The world seemed to pause for a moment as a flood of memories washed over Chantel.
She recalled sophomore year: her father had just walked out, leaving her mother hollow-eyed and distant. School became both a refuge and a battleground. It was Mrs. Eberle’s English class that had kept her anchored. One day, when she turned in a paper streaked with tear-smudged ink, the teacher had asked her to stay after class. Chantel remembered Mrs. Eberle’s soft voice, her steady eyes, and the unspoken understanding they shared as she simply said, “Some stories are heavier than others. But they’re worth telling.”
Chantel took a breath and approached her.
“Mrs. Eberle?” she ventured, voice catching slightly.
The older woman’s eyes sparkled with recognition. “Chantel Dupree! Oh, my goodness. Look at you!” She reached out, clasping Chantel’s hands in hers, fingers still thin but firm. “Time has its way, doesn’t it?”
They talked at first about the usual reunion chatter: jobs, families, the weird twists of life. But then Chantel found herself pausing, the old lump in her throat rising. Mrs. Eberle tilted her head, a signal as clear as a raised eyebrow in her class.
“I just—I don’t know if I ever properly thanked you,” Chantel began, her voice low but steady. “Those days in your classroom, they were... more than just lessons. You saw me. And that made all the difference.”
Mrs. Eberle’s expression softened, her eyes glistening for the briefest moment before she blinked and chuckled. “I always believed in you, Chantel. I’m glad to see that belief wasn’t misplaced.”
They sat at a table under the warm glow of the lights, the chatter around them fading into the background. They swapped stories: Mrs. Eberle recounted how teaching had been her life raft during her own dark moments, and Chantel spoke of her work as a journalist and how she now used words to give voice to others who felt unseen. It was a conversation filled with laughter and quiet pauses that carried more weight than words.
As the night wound down and the last slow song began to play, Mrs. Eberle touched Chantel’s arm. “You know, my dear, you’ve become the story worth telling.”
Chantel smiled, her heart swelling with gratitude, a bond of friendship rekindled under the banner of shared history. For once, she felt not only the weight of her own story but the strength it had given her—and the teacher who had helped her carry it when it was too heavy alone.
They promised to meet for coffee soon, an unexpected friendship blooming like a secret garden rediscovered.

Bo Davis and Steve Sarkisian’s work comes full-circle in Texas’ culture win at Iowa State
AMES, Iowa — In the final minutes, Bo Davis relaxed on a folding chair near the bench, plenty comfortable in the cold. Texas’ offense was running out the clock on a 26-16 victory at Iowa State. His work here was done. The Longhorns’ defensive line coach has plenty of reasons to be proud. In its final road game as a member of the Big 12, Texas flexed its toughness and proved its progress. This…
