SKILL UNLOCKED, KNITTING ABILITY LEVELED UP

So I've been knitting a fair bit as of late, all sorts of shenanigans and funky little things and a thousand fancy plans. Only some stuff finished thus far, but a fair bit of learning new building blocks going on.

And in a fit of pique while trying to get some ridiculously tiny dense pointy picots out of a purlwise cable cast on base, being mad that my normal purling (wrapping the yarn counter-clockwise) made the yarn have to cross SO FAR to get back up to the needle, I just...crossed the yarn up clockwise instead, and it was so much better. Distracted from the picot situation by how well it worked, I wondered why it's not the norm, did a quick search, and...

Found I had accidentally stumbled upon combination knitting? Which (for flat stockinette and the like) involves purling clockwise, and then knitting through the back loop to untwist those stitches. And it has FIXED my purl tension! The left side of my flat stockinette no longer gains a giant, sad loop! (Hell, I think that selvedge might even be neater than the right side now.) And I still don't necessarily like knitting ribbing, or how it looks vs. other, funkier options. But a quick test of normal vs. combination ribs side-by-side? Hot damn, that combo rib looks GOOD.

...Now, to get back to seeing if I can wrangle those picots to do what I want, without resorting to smaller needles...

I'm thinking in "The hole lotta nothin'" in your swap AU it's Meteor and Peepers who find the black hole. Peeps could rush and find something to help his king(or he wanted to stay at first and guard Meteor or even tried to plug the hole himself, but he's too small for that and ends up almost falling into it). Though I don't really know how Wander is gonna be able to interact with Meteor. Maybe it's be someone else? Awesome would think it's a perfect workout time opportunity.

Ooooor what if the black hole was in the planet Wander's in? He was trying to plug it with his "mushroom hands" but they all broke and got sucked in.

I just realized Wander could just send one of his followers to plug it themselves, not that they'd be against it. Yeah, the second idea wouldn't work, I can't think of anything except for the first one yet. Do/did you have any thoughts on how this episode would play out in your AU? :)

i've been trying to formulate a response to this question for a second now, actually, because it's really hard to say. the black hole inside wander's planet is a neat idea, and it does pose the question of "how would wander move the planet if the black hole is inside the core room" because it would stay around the same spot and if he tried to move it would. like. do this

and tear through the side of the planet and make a huge mess which is a fun problem to solve but also a really fucking complicated one when the premise of the original is so straightforward? idk.

maybe it's the first option, where meteor and peeps come across it first and meteor has to stay put while peepers finds something more permanent, and in meteor's unending boredom he accidentally lets the black hole suck planet yonder into orbit, which would be a fun way to get some conflict between meteor and wander. maybe the solution ends up being the same as the original with hater gnawing his own arm off and hopping onto the bike when peepers comes back like JUST DRIVE!!! DRIVE AWAY FROM HERE

also a fun way to keep hater's awesome robot arm in play !!

YAY! OMG thank you!!!! :D <33 That makes me SO glad because I've fallen head over heels with them too and they've been in my head for only a day or so! I've been sat here the entire evening fleshing out their whole story and background. I even have Evander's caretaker now!!!!!

I was starting to type this in the tags of the previous ask but it got too long-winded and besides the point so I thought to make a separate post. This is to everyone reading that might be in the case of the funk™ (like, funk in general) as well, since I have experienced it many times, and will keep to as long as I live, as it's just a thing of life. I don't know where I heard this from, and if my brain concocted some parts of it at some point, but... life truly is like a river. Sometimes you encounter rocks, some small, some big, some easy to get through, some more difficult. But the water gets through it as long as it keeps flowing. Sometimes there are a bunch of rocks, rocks that block the passage completely. But if the water doesn't stop and stagnate, the flow will eventually erode the rocks, and water will be able to flow again. That is to say... you may rest, you may slow down, but never give up, never stop flowing. As long as you don't give up, at some point you will overcome the rocks.

What is your least favorite sea creature? 

Oh gosh… that’s a tricky one…

I don’t live near any of the seas, so I don’t have a personal grudge against anything from years of subtle annoyances… Really I can only go off of my own biases based on what I’ve learned about or seen pictures of..

Geez, I really don’t know!!

Currently, I don’t have any sea creatures that I despise or anything, but after some intense thinking (I’m not kidding I took like 10 minutes of pondering) I’ve come up with the two closest options.

Blood worms are awful. They’re a looming threat to bare tootsies in Cape Cod, MA cuz they’re all over the place and are kinda like big ugly saltwater leeches, but I don’t /hate/ them cuz they’re kind of cool and they look really funny when they’re sliding back into their little hidey-holes.

Goblin sharks are uggos, I will not lie. I do not personally see the charm in goblin sharks. I am also not a fan of their jaw-dislocation thing that they do.
