To be fair i'm not very far into my new durge playthrough of bg3 yet but playing as a warlock is hilarious because thus far it's completely unclear who your patron is or what the terms of your pact are. So all the class-unique dialogue is just Generic Warlock Stuff. I can't even imagine what talking to Wyll must be like...

Wyll: So what does your patron require of you?

Durge: Well, you know, just kinda *makes a nonspecific hand gesture*.

Wyll: ...What?

Durge: You know, just *same gesture*.

Huh, I didn't even realize it'd been a year since BG3 came out until I opened tumblr this morning. Kinda wild. I didn't think much of the game's release: I like Larian's games, and I like the BG series. I wasn't ever going to skip the game, but I didn't think I'd play it at launch because I was busy working on a novel in 2023 and not doing well financially.

Thankfully, circumstances left me with a little bit of extra money last year just before launch and it meant I could spend on a video game. I needed a pick-me-up after said 2023 novel failed to go anywhere, and BG3 was right there. Like most CRPGs, I played it in basically every moment of free time that I had and did as much as I possibly could in one playthrough.

It's so odd how these small happenstances can snowball into coming back to fandom, finding some friends I might've never met otherwise, and writing a lot of fanfiction along the way. I'll probably have something more interesting to say/share when it's the 14th, AKA when I sat down and wrote my first fic for this fandom.

Anyways, it's been a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to more years to come 💜

Tbh I kinda wish Orin would take your current romanced companion just for the angst. Like I guess gameplay wise it makes sense to take away the companion you use the least/have the lowest approval with but also. What if I want my Tav to go feral. What if I want my Tav to get super freaked out when their romanced npc starts acting strange and then reveal they've been taken. What if I want them to get tunnel vision for defeating Orin as quickly as possible. What if I want them to have a really rough time with trying to get them back. What if

My partner finally finished BG3 but has no idea that his ending was actually bad cause he was a pro-Vlaakith githyanki who rode off with Lae'zel but got NO EPILOGUE where Withers points out y'all died im 😭😭😭

My entire sanity (that's not a lot) hinges on Gale Dekarios and Lucanis Dellamorte, two purple fantasy Mediterranean men with beautiful brown eyes™, beards and slicked-back long hair, who could either cook for me or kill me with a spectacular light show, knives are involved every time. I think Peregrine would be at a loss after finding the Annals of Karsus. the crown isn't gonna help them in the long run, this much is clear - it killed Karsus, it's controlling the brain, and it grants godhood. but to give it to Mystra to cure Gale? who's to say that Mystra has good intentions behind getting it for herself? Gale deserves to be cured, so surely this is best route? but what would that do to him? would he revert back to who he was before the crash? or would he stay as he is now, just without the fear of exploding and hurting everyone around him?

So like I know the scene with Astarion where he reveals he’s a vampire and bites you is supposed to be hot and all. But my Tav just looked like he was dissociating the entire time and incredibly uncomfortable. Like he was instantly regretting his choice to let it happen but was like “well I mean I already said yes so what can I do?” I feel kinda bad for him not gonna lie.

Not me being mad that Moon can't assist Gale in becoming a god and overtaking Mystra- becoming a god as well like Gale promises, thus becoming some sort of mind flayer divine that can now guide and lead other independent mind flayers, perhaps even evolve them.
