A Song of Ice And Fire/Game of Thrones Verse

Loki is one of the Old Gods, his true name lost for aeons until now. He lurks in the guise of the Stranger in the religion of the Seven and once was known as the Father of the Forest. In Westeros, and across the world, he is a changeable, adaptable creature whose power has waxed and waned across time. He once gave the Children of the Forest the knowledge on how to create the White Walkers and quietly carries the guilt for what they became, these creatures made in a similar image to one of his hidden forms. Loki can travel between the weirwood wherever it has not been destroyed.

With the threat of the coming winter, he no longer wishes to remain hidden. He walks among the petty battles and politics of the human world and offers his aid where he pleases, intent on helping them defend against the White Walkers in the hope his worship can be reclaimed. That, and Westeros without humans would be terribly dull.

It is possible (though difficult) to kill Loki but his essence always returns eventually. As a dual entity, he is both (ironically) of ice and fire. In this lifetime, he favours ice and is unhindered by the cold, akin to his jotun roots. Were he to die by dragonfire, however, he would return in his fire-based form, a far less amenable being who craves blood and conflict among men.

hey there! Recently finished pretty much all of your OG Fae Tales (GT, CoFT, and TIP) back in Feb. and I was wondering if there was a particular reason you kept "new" Gywn susceptible to compulsions, and Augus still uses them even tho Fenwrel showed him personally way back when how unnerving they can be? LIke I get it wasn't a natural defense that Gywn had so he lost it in rebirth, but also idk wasnt it also part of Gywn's appeal to Augus? Idk how to explain it, but I think about it often lolol

Augus was always very excited to use compulsions on Gwyn, tbh. And whenever he had the opportunity to, either because Gwyn let him, or because he'd been so tormented post-Trade, he used them pretty liberally to make a point of it.

and Augus still uses them even tho Fenwrel showed him personally way back when how unnerving they can be?

So I really have to point out that Augus is a morally questionable, Unseelie sadistic fae, who doesn't like experiencing that, but really enjoys hurting others and controlling others, and this doesn't go away just because Fenwrel 'taught him a lesson' that one time. Augus is who he is, that's what I love about him. The take away from that was never that he thought he shouldn't use compulsions on others! And he kept using them when he could (he was just frequently around people who could resist them, like Ash and Gwyn, or Fenwrel who can punish him for it, lol).

Fenwrel's lesson to him with this was never 'stop using them' it was just 'stop using them with master mages.' And Augus learned that lesson and still loved using compulsions and still used them. It's a biological part of him, and he loves doing it. Like, this is not the story to come to if you expect Augus to want to be a morally good person by the end of it. Manipulating and controlling people literally makes his blood pump with excitement, lol.

This is not part of the appeal for Augus. In fact quite a few times in The Court of Five Thrones and Game Theory Augus expresses resentment, annoyance and irritation that Gwyn is resistant to compulsions. For example:

He wished Gwyn responded to compulsions, which made everything easier. But very little about Gwyn was easy.

He's very clear to himself that life and his connection with Gwyn is harder because he can't use compulsions, and we see that play out when he can use them in the epilogue, and so uses them pretty freely.

I kept this Gwyn susceptible to compulsions because I think they're in a place now where they can work out how to deal with that together, and because I think Augus largely - by the epilogue - wants to use them to help them, or to force the truth out of Gwyn, and I think Gwyn is actually okay with that. He protests in the moment, but in a very sort of 'light' way. And because Gwyn loves Augus as he is, and not as some like...morally good version of himself. Gwyn loves sadist, controlling, manipulative Augus. He loves the Augus who looks beautiful and bloodthirsty while hurting him. He doesn't just love 'soft and good' Augus, and he wouldn't be Gwyn - an Unseelie fae himself who also often isn't morally good - if he did.

First post on tumblr!! I thought it would be fitting if the first thing I posted would be some fanart of one of my favorite characters from @not-poignant fae tales verse. Augus Each Uisge is such an enjoyable character to read and I’ll definitely be drawing him again.

Having grown up as a ward to the Hightowers in Oldtown, Myranda Redwyne is sent to King’s Landing as a companion to Otto Hightower’s daughter Alicent.

She spends her first years in the Red Keep as a lady-in-waiting to Queen Aemma.

When the queen dies in childbirth, it deeply wounds the young woman - so much so that she vows to never marry. Even before the queen's death, Myra had found herself bored with the men of the capitol - finding they are either immature, spoiled boys or disgusting, leering old men - but after witnessing Aemma Targaryen bleed out in childbed, she vows never to go through such hell for the sake of a man's legacy.

So she spends her days - now serving the newly named heir to the Iron Throne, the Princess Rhaenyra - tending to her budding reputation as a spinster-in-waiting.

But things change when King Viserys states his intent to wed Alicent. Myra doesn't know if his daughter's impending wedding gave the widowed Otto Hightower ideas or if the Hand of the King is simply looking for someone to take care of him with Alicent bound otherwise, but suddenly her guardian seems to be looking at her differently.

Then, just a few days before Alicent is to be wed to the king, Myra receives a letter from her family that confirms her worst fear - she is to marry Otto Hightower.

Trapped in King's Landing and forced to play along as the court engages in a lavish tourney to celebrate the royal wedding, Myra finds herself in a whirlwind of despair, drinking and irresponsible decisions which ultimately gets her caught in a very compromising situation with a young lord from the North.

Hoping her 'ruin' will dissuade Otto Hightower from marrying her, Myra spins this heated yet brief encounter into a scandalous tale, not thinking about the consequences this might have for her. Or for the young man who suddenly faces accusations of defiling the Hand's future wife.

But never - not even in her wildest dreams - would Myra have imagined that this desperate and yes, stupid ploy would see her as the Lady of Last Hearth, caught in a sham marriage with a man widely rumoured to be half wildling.

Something I think about a lot and I mean A LOT is if Arya was also a ballerina while she was in Braavos. Ik it’s not “historically accurate” because ballet wasn’t created until the 1500s in Italy but Braavos is inspired by Venice and it would just go so well with her storyline!

Ballet would be good training for anyone in the House of Black and White because you learn to be a good actor, you learn to be more graceful, make essentially no noise when landing from leaps with hard shoes, and it works out a lot of muscles you can’t get to with most exercises.

Arya has a water motif throughout all of the books. Could you imagine if she was a part of performing Swan Lake?! I’m not saying she would be Odette (white swan) or Odile (black swan) because she would need years of experience for those roles. But Arya has always felt she was an ugly duckling and dancing as a graceful swan, especially if it was right before her leaving Braavos, would symbolize her self-transformation and growth.
