If you've ever thought about actually buying some version of RPG Maker, you should check this out. XP is an older version, so you may end up wanting a newer version, but this is a great opportunity to check out what RPG Maker has to offer.

I just recently got the newest version when it was on sale for the holidays, and the prototype I've made fumbling around since December is already the most complete game project I've ever made because many of the systems are built in and easy to work with. Especially if you have even a vague knowledge of programming.

🎨 You don't need cutting-edge tools or a high-end machine to create meaningful art. This pixel art landscape was created entirely in MS Paint, the same simple program that comes pre-installed on Windows. I use it for most of my background artworks because it helps me focus purely on composition, color, and detail without overcomplicating the process. Even my PC is a humble, older machine. Yet despite the limitations, my work has been featured in major galleries and on screens around the world. For animation, I use other tools (mainly because MS Paint doesn’t support animation), but I still apply old-school onion skinning techniques to keep the creative process simple and hands-on. The takeaway? You don’t need fancy software or powerful hardware to make something beautiful. Creativity finds a way.

Some old concept work I did for a game called Open Roads for Annapurna back in 2019. The project’s setting changed time periods from the 60s to the 90s since I did these. These images were a design for the Detective’s office location as well as a pitch for the art style, A sort of 60s advertising illustration look with lots of flat color and lots of detail that retains depth. #
