Twilight Garrett with a mate that does martial arts and was in the Army
Let’s say he gets bored waiting for the volturi he begins asking someone to fight him for “practice”
You take him up on your offer mainly because you’re tired of hearing the preaching of how much better they are than the volturi by not eating humans
He immediately notices your stance and he figures out you’ve had training in some form
Your fighting isn’t erratic, it is instinctual but more in the way that you’re trained to see the best way to win a fight
He becomes fascinated the longer the fight goes on, when you win he becomes hooked
He becomes inquisitive, asking about where you learned to fight, why you would want to learn, and when it came in handy
Then he finds out you were in the army and man this guy has a million questions
What’s changed, who’s in charge, are there good leaders, what’s basic training like, wait what do you mean the army can have phones during basic, what weapons did you use, what’s your MOS, why did you join?
While all this information draws him in he wants to know more. So you compare stories, talk about the life you remember.
He doesn’t stop when the confrontation is over, you both decide to take you time going home.
After a few more days he decides to just keep walking with you, and soon enough he decides he doesn’t want to be nomad anymore.

Honey, I want something for “being Carlisle and Esme's youngest daughter”. and being Garrett's love interest! I love him, however, he has few things on this platform! Guys are very protective of her as well as girls. Thanks for the attention 🌷💌.
Being Carlisle and Esme's youngest daughter HCs:
Paring: daughter!Reader x Dad!Carlisle x Mom!Esme (Reader x Boyfriend!Garrett)
Summary: headcanons about carlisle and Esme's daughter dating Garrett.
💜MasterList 💜twilight MasterList
So I think they're youngest daughter is gonna remain human for awhile. Your the only cullen 'child' that has been legally adopted by carlisle and Esme, So your actually they're daughter.
You were the daughter of an old friend of Esme's, your mother died giving birth to you and your biological father just wasn't fit to take care of you. Esme and Carlisle took you in under your bio-mom's wishes.
Anyway, Esme was over the moon excited to have a baby in the house, she practically never put you down... Unless Carlisle wanted to hold you and cuddle you.
The two never really gotten the chance to be actual parents, with the other's they were already grown and matured, but with you they could finally experience parent hood.
Your defently a daddy's girl, Carlisle loves you with every single cell in his body and he's very over protective of you... Unfortunately to the point he didn't trust Jasper alone with you when you were a baby.
Speaking of Jasper and siblings, you literally have the best siblings in the world. If you thought carlisle was over protective just wait till you see the boys.
Emmett and you are the closet, he's always making you laugh and 'wrestling'. He'll do just about anything for you or with you. He's probably also the most protective out of your three brothers.
When you were little Edward would often read you stories and teach you how to play piano.
Jasper is your go to person when you have a problem, he's the best listener and he has your back.
As you got older the protectiveness got old, high school wasn't easy with them around but honestly they're the reason you survived.
But the protectiveness didn't get really annoying till you met Garrett, your mate.
In all honesty it's Edward and Bella's fault (Emmett words not yours). You and Bella don't get along at all and she's jealous of yours and Edward's relationship... That's a story for another time though, this is yours and Garrett's story.
Anyway, the family didn't really expect it to happen. After going to Egypt with your parents you decided to met the other guests, that's how you met Garrett.
He cought your eye immediately and the feeling was mutual, Carlisle didn't like how Garrett would look at you.
“who were you talking to?” your dad asked after leaving the living room. “dose it matter?”
“no, no, it doesn't matter unless it's a Boy!”
You just brushed it off, knowing your dad was just being over protective and You continued to get to know Garrett.
You thought he was very charming and funny. Dispite the situation you were currently in with Renesmee he was always making you laugh.
Your parents were happy and all, but at the same time Carlisle didn't want to see you get hurt.
“Dad, what are you doing?” you asked after put some space between you and Garrett.
“there should be a safe distance between you and boys... Especially this one”
Anyway, Garrett realized the problem and went to Carlisle about it. They were both old fashion.
“I think I love your daughter and I want your permission to date her”
Carlisle's problems seemed to go away slightly. “well it's up to her... But if you hurt her you'll deal with me”
after your family won the battle with the vulturi he took you at on that date. He treated you like a queen the whole time and he asked you to be his girlfriend at the end of the night.
So he did join the coven after awhile. The whole nomad life wasn't pleasant to him anymore. He even changed to the vegetarian diet for you.
He likes like being productive of you, but he knows you can take care of yourself.
Emmett dose send deth threats when you started dating. “you better not hurt her” carlisle doesn't have a violent bone in his body, but Emmett dose.
But after the family saw how happy you were they welcomed Garrett into the family with open arms.
“I'll follow you anywhere woman” he smiled.

Steve X Reader X Garrett - [Best of Both Worlds]
SFW, GN!Reader, canon-faithful writing and fun times all around
Steve hasn’t had much action in his life, relationship wise. Always alienated in school, maybe had a few flings in adulthood, but people always sought him out for a good time rather than a real commitment… But then there was you.
Something about you, when you stumbled into the Overworld alongside your other roundling friends… You stood out, not in the way that Henry did but… Something else.
Dawn and Natalie were indifferent, Garrett was more than infuriating, but you were a surprising addition to the crew in the fact that you took a shine to him and his architecture almost instantly.
When he spoke you listened, even seemed impressed with his talent. No one else seemed to care about the time and effort that went into this world, most of it being done by his hand. It was nice to feel appreciated, to feel seen.
As a modern gamer yourself you took to the mechanics of the world almost instantly, Steve was almost flustered albeit impressed. He'd be in the middle of explaining something as simple as a crafting table with his usual gusto, and then boom! You'd just make one yourself. Tools? Easy. Armor? Easier! And mining... Hoo boy, he had to keep you from strip mining through an entire mountain, despite how much he'd love to join.
"You found iron already?! It took me forever to get out of the stone age!"
Since you weren't such a try-hard like Gar-Gar he was happy to nurture you and Henry's creative impulses, though the Garbage Man himself was rather jealous of how quickly you got a handle on things (and especially how you got ahold of Steve's attention. He couldn't tell who he was more jealous of, truthfully).
During a late night campfire session you even had it in you to ask about his life before the Overworld.
“Steve..?”
“Yeeeees?”
“What was your life like before the Overworld..? I know you said it was boring and all, but what made you choose to stay here for so long?”
If you didn’t know any better you’d think he was running from something.
He drew a deep breath in as he laid next to you under the stars, pursing his lips together. Despite being such a silly guy, you could tell there was a lot more going on underneath his braggadocios exterior.
“In my world… Well, our world, I was very lonely. I knew no one would miss me, so I stayed here where I found purpose. There was nothing I couldn’t do, nothing I couldn’t build… The sky's the limit. You know how expensive it is to build a house in the real world, kid?”
His tone was joking but he wasn’t necessarily wrong, it was a cruel world outside of the cubes.
“Yeah, I know… Sucks not having more people like you around though. The real world sure could use a Steve or two.”
He chuckled, hands clasped over his tummy, but his laughter was short lived when he heard a fake gag coming from the tent you originally shared with Garrett.
“Ugh, are you two sapheads gonna be up all night? Tryin’ to get some beauty sleep in here!”
Garrett had not been a fan of how close you and Steve had become over the course of this adventure. At all.
Leading up to the discovery of the portal, Garrett had been scheming of ways to ask you out without making it seem too obvious.
Your job had you fly out to Chuglass for a higher position in the company, but once you got there you found out the position they offered had already been taken somehow. This was after you’d already spent your savings moving and flying of course, so you were actively trying to save up so that you could get back home soon.
You swung by his store pretty often to sell some of your old junk, you knew he was lowballing you so you’d either have to heckle or concede to seeing one of your previously precious relics up on the shelf for double the price you sold it a week later.
Even so, this had become somewhat of a ritual for the two of you. As more of your boxes made the trip across the country you’d visit again, the cycle would continue. Although he was a stingy ass, there was an odd charm to him that you couldn’t quite place. Something that drew you back to the store far more than the prices.
As you leafed through some of the used CDs he kept replaying scenarios in his head, trying to figure out how he’d go about asking you on a date.
“Hey person who I argue with and resell shit from constantly, wanna go on a date? Not like you have many other guys to select from since most everyone else around here is a middle aged loon!”
“No, no, that’s terrible…” He murmured right as you had pulled out a CD you were interested in.
You shot him a glare in response, presuming he was judging your music taste.
“No, not you,” He waved his hand dismissively, shaking his head. Before the two of you could get into it, Hank walked in and the whole cube thing happened. There went his one and only shot of asking you out prior to this fiasco, and he blew it just like he does everything else.
It's not as though it got particularly better in the Overworld either, left and right he kept making a fool of himself.
While you excelled at crafting, mining, and combat, he was bumbling around like an oaf trying to talk to sheep and wielding buckchuckets. He'd never been more embarrassed, and exceedingly unwilling to admit it at that.
He wagered that he must look like a real dumbass in your eyes. A real Boo Boo the Fool. That may have been true to some degree, but unbeknownst to him it only endeared him to you more.
The lengths he'd go just to one-up you and Steve were comical, it was kind of cute seeing him act so cocky and then pout right after when it went awry.
You wanted to console him deep down, but you knew that would just make him feel justified in his petty antics so you refrained, wrestling back a bemused smile all the while.
Steve felt the same exact way, even if his macho exterior wouldn't allow such sentiments to bleed through.
I mean, when was the last time he had another man his age around? Even with Garrett's hidden indentions, Steve enjoyed their little banter and pseudo-rivalry. There was no competition really, but it was nice to see him try!
And, while the average observer may think Steve was annoyed or felt disrespected, it was truly the opposite. You may have recognized Steve from a different angle, but Garrett quintessentially met him on his level. Mano y mano, if you will. He saw him as a worthy competitor and acted accordingly, he didn't treat him like some dopey accountant who couldn't do anything for himself, no! He treated him like a man... Steve liked that.
With all of this in mind, it still didn't prevent tensions from rising. You and Garrett got into a spat that night at the campsite, since he conveniently liked to act up when you and Steve were having genuine moments together. The night ended with you switching to Steve's tent, MUCH to Gar-Gar's dismay, and the very next day a brawl broke out at the nearby village that caused you to separate from him, Steve, and Henry.
Dawn and Natalie tried to comfort you as best they could, Nat being pretty oblivious to the obvious romantic tension sizzling like hot lava chicken between you and the other two men on the team.
"I'm just worried about them, we left things off really shitty... Me and Garrett, then you and Henry... It's like we just can't stop fighting..."
"Ugh, that toolbag could start a fight with a baby if he wanted to. He'll get over it, and Henry... I just want him to be safe right now. I think... Well, I hope Steve can do at least that..." She seemed to be lost in thought as she helped you row the boat you crafted while Dawn read the map.
"There's a fork up ahead... We need to take a right..." Dawn murmured as she studied the details of the map, furrowing her brows at the big red section up ahead. Maybe the woodland mansion was past the mushroom forest..? Could be possible...
The ride was quiet for the most part, but while you and the girls were peacefully sailing the boys were fighting for their lives trying to out-fly the piglins. Sadly you had to miss out on Steve and Garrett’s midair kiss, but you never anticipated that you’d only reunite with one of them later in your journey.
Steve laid there motionless on the bed with Dennis curled up at the foot of it, the rise and fall of his chest being the only sign of life. He was healed, peaceful, and he looked so beautiful just lying there beneath the sun and getting some proper rest… His survival brought you peace, but he lack of a certain someone’s presence was still very concerning.
After a while of you sitting at his bedside Dennis got up and began to lick Steve’s beard, the old man slowly stirring and eventually giggling at the ticklish feeling. “Dennis! It’s really you!” He sat up and gave his faithful companion some good scritches, grinning at the pooch. As he turned to you his expression softened, not necessarily in a bad way just… Different.
“And you, Y/N…”
He looked like he wanted to say something more, but he knew now wasn’t the time… The battle wasn’t over, and he already knew what your first words to him were going to be.
“Where’s Garrett?”
“Gar-Gar, he’s…” He trailed off.
Nat, who was seated next to Henry on his bed, looked over at you with a grave expression.
“I don’t know,” Steve finished softly, casting his brown eyes onto the ground. “He fought bravely, but the piglins had us surrounded. He… Sacrificed himself to save Henry and I. He lived and unalived like the warrior he was.” He nodded solemnly as you covered your mouth, tears welling up in your eyes. “N-No, it can’t be…”
He put a hand on your shoulder tentatively, he half expected you to shrink away but to his surprise you threw yourself onto him, crying into the crook of his neck and holding him tight. He hated to see you this way, but he also felt honored that you’d choose him as a source of comfort. He ran his calloused hands along your back doing his best to console you. He was pretty torn up about it himself, but he didn’t want you to see that side of him yet. Garrett wouldn’t want him crying over it anyway.
Dawn and Natalie did their best to be supportive while you were grieving, hell even Henry was trying to cheer you up. There was nothing they could do though, as the only thing that could sate your sadness was bloodshed and revenge.
You crafted yourself a pair of diamond nunchucks in Garrett’s honor, making it your mission to tear through every piglin in sight. In your rage you’d adopted some of Garrett’s mannerisms and cockiness, even stealing some frags from Natalie as you fought alongside her. It was annoying but you were going through it, and it was too late to argue with too many important things on the line right now.
With the raging emotions at the forefront of your mind, you didn't think to question sending Henry to go get the orb despite being the only child on the team. He was the only one not drowning in pork right now, so you kept up the good fight while he scaled the nether portal by his lonesome. Although it seemed the war had been won, a blast from The Great Hog sent Henry flying. The thought of losing another team member so soon after the other sent a pang of shock through your chest, but that wasn't going to happen... Not on Garrett's watch.
The Garbage Man swooped in valiantly, saddled beneath a Ghast using his arms to steer the beast.
For a second you couldn't tell who it was, but upon recognizing that pink tasseled jacket and long flowing hair it dawned on you that your brave knight managed to beat the odds and survive!
After him and Hank's brief reunion and acquisition of the orb. you called for him--nay--screamed for him, shouting his name until he landed nearby.
As the piglins crumbled around you he came running, hugging you first out of everyone else. He swooped you up and swung you around, laughing like a madman.
"I thought I'd never see you again..!" Everyone aside from Steve, who was busy finishing off Malgosha, surrounded you in preparation for the epic group hug that was about to happen. They wanted you two to have your moment first though.
"Y yo tu, which is... Me too, in Spanish," He placed a rough hand on the side of your face, caressing your cheek with his thumb as he gazed down at you lovingly.
"Te amo," You murmured softly.
"... Whuh?"
"Te amo," You reiterated.
He nodded, though still maintained a confused expression.
"That means I love you in Spanish," You raised a brow at him, your wistful smile curling into a frown.
"OHHH right, right... Yeah, love you too babe," He leaned down to give you an amorous kiss, his scruffy beard tickling your face as he held the back of your head firmly.
Henry gagged jokingly, Natalie crossed her arms and shook her head, and Dawn simply smiled and nodded. "Oh, I been knew somethin' was goin' on with those two."
Just when the kiss began to last long enough to get awkward, Steve arrived in what remained of his diamond armor, a solemn look on his face. He cleared his throat when he grew near, prompting you and the Garbage Man to separate. The two of you looked at each other and then at Steve, happy and yet... Almost guilty.
He smiled, it was pained, but a smile nonetheless.
"It's about time, you two... You always bickered like an old married couple," He glanced at the two of you as he knelt down to pet and sing to Dennis, a truly heartfelt farewell ballad. You and Garrett held hands the whole way through, but you knew things didn't have to end this way.
Garrett untangled his fingers from yours to approach Steve, the two of them locking arms like they did when they first met. "I respect your decision to stay, but out there I don't have too many, uh, friends my own age."
Steve shook his head, "Nah, you'll be fine. You have Y/N now," He gestured his head towards you, wearing an expression of defeat. Garrett had beat him in the battle to win your heart, fair and square... That's what he thought at least.
"Go on home Gar-Gar, you two can keep each other warm on winter nights, take Dennis to the beach during the summer, all that fun stuff..."
To your surprise, Garrett held Steve's face just as he had held yours, swiping his thumb in the same way.
"If you say so brochacho, but if you ask me... Every good movie series is a trilogy. Think about that," He released him, gaze lingering on the turquoise bloused male for a little too long before hooking an arm around your shoulder and walking towards the portal with you.
Natalie's parting words and yours from the campsite lingered with him as he watched you and the gang walk away together, the gears slowly beginning to shift in his mind.
"We could use some of that magic in the real world."
"The real world sure could use a Steve or two."
"Every good movie series is a trilogy. Think about that."
He took one last look at the Overworld, something told him this wouldn't be his last time here but for now...
"Ah, screw it. It's about time I craft something in the real word that I can call mine."
He ran after you guys and into the portal, nearly tripping into you and Garrett on his way out.
"Steve!" Everyone shouted in unison, crowding around him and suffocating him in one big hug. While the others pulled away you and Gar-Gar looked at each other knowingly, nodded, and then each planted a big wet kiss on each side of Steve's face--much to his surprise.
His face flushed as brightly as redstone, whipping his head back and forth to look at you both in disbelief. "What the--?! Y-You two... This whole time?!"
"I thought it was kinda obvious, I just didn't say anything," Henry shrugged and walked off ahead of everyone else, having no desire to sit here and watch all three of his mentors kiss at the same time. "I second that," Dawn agreed, staying by his side to make sure he didn't wander off again. "I... Honestly had no idea," Nat sighed, rubbing the back of her neck, lingering briefly before letting you three have some proper alone time in the mines together.
"Wow... For a second there I was scared I lost the two of you as friends, but now," Steve chuckled. "It seems I have both of you in a very different way."
"It was a hard choice for a while," You admitted, rubbing his belly gently through his unisex cyan shirt. "But then I realized I didn't have to choose at all. If you're building a house and can't decide between spruce or birch, just use both."
"Yeah, what they said... I didn't win gamer of the year by only playin' one character on the roster," He gave Steve's stomach a firm pat, grabbing the flesh and giving it a little shake earning a small "oof!" from the older man.
"C'mon you guys, lets go home."
As all of you walked off into the sunset without any real idea of whose house you'd be heading to, the future seemed bright for the three of you. Normally thinking far ahead filled you with a sense of dread, but after surviving the challenges of this life and the perils of another you realize that meeting both of these men at the same time in your life truly is the best of both worlds.

⋆·˚ ༘ * GARRETT HEADCANONS 𐚁̸.ᐟ

𐙚 his soulmate is a bookworm
the moment he meets you, he knows.
it’s like the whole world stills, and suddenly, the nomadic life he’s lived for centuries feels dull in comparison to the warmth radiating from you.
you, with your cozy sweaters, your vintage dresses that hug your curves just right, and the scent of old books and spiced tea lingering around you.
garrett is fascinated by your world.
he’s been all over, seen wars, revolutions, and the rise and fall of empires, but nothing is as captivating as the little expressions you make when you’re deep in a story.
the furrow of your brow when something angsty happens, the soft smile when there’s a romantic moment—he drinks it all in like it’s the most fascinating thing in the world.
sometimes, he playfully nudges your book down with his finger just to see you huff at him before he grins and kisses your forehead.
he could spend eternity just sitting beside you, listening as you excitedly ramble about your latest read.
garrett likes tracing his fingers over your bookshelves.
he likes the feel of the worn spines, the way some books have little annotations in the margins, proof of how much you’ve loved them.
he always asks which ones are your favorites, and even though he’s not much of a reader himself, he remembers every single title you mention.
one night, you find him idly flipping through one of your books, his thumb running over your underlined passages, and when you ask what he’s doing, he just shrugs. “trying to see the world the way you do, sweetheart.”
he has zero concept of ‘not interrupting’ while you’re reading.
he tries, he really does, but then you shift on the couch, and your sweater slips off one shoulder, revealing the soft curve of your skin, and suddenly, he has to touch you.
“that book’s been getting more attention than me for the past two hours, sweetheart,” he murmurs, trailing cool fingers up your arm. “think i should be jealous?”
he becomes your personal heater.
you love the way he feels—cool against your skin, soothing when you’re wrapped up in a thick knit sweater.
he loves that you always gravitate toward him in the colder months, burying yourself against his chest with a cup of tea in hand.
garrett is an old-school romantic.
maybe it’s your style, the soft curls in your hair, the way your dresses cinch at the waist like something out of a ‘50s love story, but he finds himself slipping into that old-fashioned charm without even meaning to.
he holds doors, kisses your knuckles, and when he pulls you into a slow dance in the middle of your living room, it feels like something out of a classic film.
garrett spoils you in ways you don’t even realize.
you’ll casually mention a book you’ve been wanting, and the next day, it’s sitting on your bedside table.
he finds a dress in a style he knows you love and leaves it draped over the back of your reading chair.
he never makes a big deal out of it, just smirks when you thank him and says, “what can i say? i like seeing you happy.”
he builds your book collection.
you mention an out-of-print novel you’ve been searching everywhere for? consider it yours by the next time you see him.
he’s lived long enough to know where to find the rarest books, and he loves the way your eyes light up when he presents you with a new addition to your shelves.
your bay window nook becomes his favorite place.
he’s never been one to stay still for long, but he finds himself lingering in your cozy little reading corner more often than not.
sometimes, he pretends to read just so he has an excuse to stay close, watching the way your fingers trace the pages, the way your expression changes with every twist in the story.
he insists on carrying you to bed when you fall asleep in your book nook.
it’s become a routine at this point.
you curl up in the oversized chair by the bay window, reading until your eyes grow heavy.
the next thing you know, you’re waking up tucked beneath warm blankets with garrett beside you, his fingers lazily tracing patterns on your arm.
“you should really stop falling asleep in uncomfortable places, doll,” he teases, even though he secretly loves any excuse to hold you.
garrett is endlessly fascinated by your love of tea.
he likes watching you make it—likes the ritual of it, the way you hum softly while you carefully select a blend, measure out the leaves, and steep them to perfection.
the first time you make a cup just for him he’s oddly touched. “you really are something else, aren’t you?” he murmurs, pressing a lingering kiss to your temple.
and even though he can’t taste it, he loves when you let him hold the warm mug just so he can feel the heat in his hands.
he picks up on your favorites, the ones that help you sleep, the ones that comfort you after a long day.
he doesn’t need to drink it to appreciate the warmth it brings to your life.
you introduce him to the concept of cozy nights in.
for someone who’s spent most of his existence constantly on the move, the idea of just staying home, wrapped in soft blankets with you, is entirely foreign—but he loves it.
he’ll stretch out on the couch, letting you rest your head on his chest while you read aloud to him, your voice a soothing melody against the quiet crackle of the fireplace.
garrett gets jealous of fictional love interests.
he doesn’t realize it at first, but the more you gush about certain book characters, the more he feels the need to prove himself.
“oh, so this mr. darcy guy gets all the praise for being broody and romantic?” he pulls you into his lap with an easy smirk. “sweetheart, i’ve been broody for centuries. where’s my credit?”
he adores your vintage aesthetic.
he has a deep appreciation for your style—the way your 1950s-style dresses hug your curves just right, the delicate lace trims, the softness of your sweaters.
sometimes, when you’re bustling around the house, he catches himself just… watching.
taking in the way the fabric sways with your movement, how effortlessly beautiful you are. “damn, i’m so lucky” he murmurs to himself.
he worships every inch of you with kisses and whispered praises, never letting a single insecurity cross your mind.
he’s incredibly tactile with you.
he loves the softness of you, the way you fit against him so perfectly.
his hands are always on you—holding your waist, brushing your hair back, tracing the dip of your spine when you lean against him.
if you ever feel self-conscious, he shuts it down immediately. “sweetheart, do you have any idea how perfect you are?” he doesn’t just say it—he shows it, again and again, until there’s not a single doubt left in your mind.
garrett learns to slow down for you.
he’s always lived like the wind—fast, untamed, never lingering in one place for too long. but with you, he realizes that not all moments need to be fleeting.
there’s something profound in the stillness, in the quiet evenings spent wrapped in your arms, in the way you sip your tea and turn the pages of your book as if there’s all the time in the world.
your home, with its overflowing bookshelves and warm, inviting atmosphere, has become his sanctuary.
he still has that wanderer’s spirit, still loves adventure, but suddenly, he wants to share all of it with you.
he wants to take you to hidden bookshops in old european cities, dance with you under the northern lights, watch you experience the world with that same wonder you get when you open a brand-new book.
because for the first time in his long, long life, he’s found something worth staying for.
he might be a nomad at heart, but you?
you are the one place he never wants to leave.

Y/N had moved to Chuglass a few years back, moving there after being named the sole benefactor to their estranged grandfather’s house and bakery. It was supposed to be a new start, to get away from the past and live a modest life.
Y/N got by fairly well in Chuglass, continuing the bakery and making enough to keep the heat and lights on. The bakery was next to Game Over World, this run down old game store run by a man who was still trying to live out his glory days.
Garrett was an interesting man, always trying to come off as too cool and as if wasn’t 1 late payment away from losing his store. Y/N felt a little bad for him, with no friends in their already small town. Y/N wasn’t much better, but at least they got daily interactions with their customers, and they would consider Dawn to be an acquaintance. The most interaction Garrett got was from the online auction websites he used and any garage sales he went to.
One day, however, Garrett entered the bakery. As he scanned over the bread and other baked goods, Y/N emerged from the back, greeting as they would any other customer.
“Welcome in!” Y/N smiled.
Garrett gave a kind of awkward nod as he looked at Y/N, still looking around the store for a moment before speaking. “Where, uh…where’s the old man?” he asked.
“You mean (Grandfather’s name?)” Y/N asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Yeah, him. He usually helps me out when I’m… a little low on cash.” Garrett adjusted his shoulders, obviously a little tense over the fact that he was admitting he was broke to a stranger.
Y/N leaned over the counter as they looked at Garrett, “Well unfortunately for you, my grandfather passed a couple months back, something you probably would have noticed if you had stopped by before.”
Garrett awkwardly cleared his throat, flipping down his sunglasses to cover his eyes to avoid the awkward eye contact before speaking, “Oh, I'm sorry for your loss.”
Y/N just shrugged, “Don't be, I never really knew him. I just ended up with all his property and decided to move here to get a fresh start.”
Garrett nodded, looking down towards the ground even with his eyes concealed. “Well… I'm sorry for bothering you then.” As he turned to leave, Y/N spoke up.
“Wait!” they said before Garrett stepped out of the bakery. “I don't have any extra money right now, but I can at least give you this.” Y/N reached into the pastry cabinet and retrieved a cupcake with pink and blue swirled frosting, stopped with pink sprinkles. Y/N reached their arm over the counter, offering it to Garrett.
“Oh no, I'm good.” Garrett raised a hand up, declining the offer.
“Come on, take it. I made too many for today and it'll go bad if you don't take it.” Y/N said, still holding out the cupcake.
Garrett waited for a second before reaching for the cupcake, his fingers brushing against Y/N’s as he took it. He once again headed towards the door, pushing it open and looking over his shoulder at Y/N, “Thanks.” He said as he headed out.
Garrett began to walk back to his own store, before spinning around and popping his head back into the bakery. “What was your name?” He asked.
“Y/N”
“Y/N…” He said in almost a whisper to himself, “I’m Garrett, it was nice to meet you.” Garrett pulled back, once again making his way back to his store.
Y/N smiled a bit, feeling happy that they got a chance to talk to Garrett, even if the whole exchange was awkward and he was only there to ‘borrow’ money.
Garrett eventually got ahold of the money he needed, but he started going into the bakery everyday before it closed. Always grabbing one of the cupcakes that were going to be thrown out at the end of the day. And secretly, Y/N always made sure there was exactly 1 left each day for Garrett.
~~~
It was around 4PM on a Tuesday, closing time for the bakery, and Garrett hadn’t stopped by yet. Y/N closed up the store and packed the cupcake they had saved for Garratt in a to-go box, then headed next door to check on him.
When Y/N entered the game store, they noticed that the door was left unlocked, lights were left on, and there was no one there. Y/N looked around, trying to find any clues as to where Garrett had gone, they knew he wasn’t one to leave his store unattended like this. As Y/N looked around, they found a note that looked like it was a few years old, left on the ground.
Y/N quickly read over the note, it was talking about some crystal, but the part that stuck out to Y/N was where it said “There loads of treasure down here… but it's not worth the danger!” They knew that it must have meant the old mines. Y/N rushed out of the game store and drove across town, parking their car next to what they recognized as Dawn’s. Without any thought, they rushed into the abandoned mines, worried about what danger Garrett could have gotten himself into.
Stumbling through the mines, Y/N heard the yells of Dawn, Garrett, and 2 other people. Y/N rushed towards the sound, finding what looked like a glowing blue doorway. As Y/N stared in awe, they were quickly sucked into the portal and thrown through the air.
As they sat up, Y/N was confused to see fresh grass under them. When they stood, they saw a full, bright world made of block shapes. As Y/N scanned the area, they saw Garrett, Dawn, and the 2 new kids running over towards a pink blocky sheep. As Y/N was running over to join the group, the sun suddenly set and the moon was already high in the sky.
What the hell? Y/N thought.
Before they could move further, a barrage of flaming arrows came raining down over the clearing the group was in. Y/N panicked and ran over towards Garrett, the opposite direction that the others had run to. As Y/N ran, they lost sight of Garrett. Trying to keep away from the monsters that had suddenly appeared, Y/N jumped onto a small tree, running along the leafy blocks and jumping across them, hoping to find Garrett with the high ground advantage.
As Y/N jumped from tree to tree, they finally spotted Garrett as he emerged from a hole in the ground. Y/N hopped out of the tree and landed next to Garrett, making him scream.
Y/N grabbed Garrett by the arm, “We need to get out of here!” they said.
Before they could figure out where to run to, they both froze as they heard a hissing noise from behind them. Garrett instinctively turned and punched the green creature. The monster began to pulse with a light, each beat being fast and faster. As Garrett tried to apologize to the monster, Y/N knew exactly what was coming next. Y/N kicked the monster back, sending it flying back. As it landed a few yards away, it exploded, the power of it sending Y/N and Garrett tumbling down the hill they were on. As they got us from the ground (for the second time today) they saw that they were surrounded by zombies.
Garrett and Y/N ran, finding a large tower that the others were standing atop of. The two ran towards the tower, fighting off zombies left and right. Garrett stopped for a moment, picking up a crystal cube from the ground and looking at it before it was knocked from his hands, the outer crystal shattering. Y/N grabbed Garrett by the arm, forcing him to continue to run before he reached down and grabbed the glowing center cube that was left. Y/N and Garrett reached the tower, both begging to be let in.
As they stood there, zombies began to surround them. The two tried to fight off the ghouls but were quickly becoming overpowered. Just before they could be ripped apart, the blocks of the wall behind them disappeared and both were pulled into the tower. The boy had pulled them to safety. As they all were running up the stairs to the top of the tower, an explosion destroyed one of the walls, letting in a horde of zombies. With everyone now on top of the tower it seemed like this would be the end, as monsters cornered them.
Suddenly, a man appeared who fought off the monsters, sending a few off the edge of the tower. Then, as if on a queue that only he knew, he pointed towards the sky as the sun reappeared, making the remaining zombies burst into flames.
The boy slowly approached the man, “Who are you?” he asked.
“I… am Steve!” The man said.
Steve explained that he needed the “orb” (as he called it) back to save his dog, Dennis, and that the group wouldn’t be able to go home because the earth crystal had shattered, meaning they would have to venture to find a new one before the portal back home would open. Steve promised to help the group find the earth crystal so that they could all go home, and began the journey by leading everyone to a nearby village for supplies.
As the group walked, Dawn introduced Y/N to Natalie and Henry, the two others in the group, and the new residence of Chuglass.
Soon, the 6 of them arrived at the massive village, filled with many blocky humanoid people. Steve explained the way of life for the ‘villagers’, as he called them, mostly focusing on their food. Y/N was intrigued, as someone who baked and had a knack for cooking too, they wanted to learn more about the foods they made.
“So, you're a foodie, huh? Well, let me introduce you to my little corner of heaven~” Steve said, singing the last bit as he led them over to a shack with a giant chicken on top of it.
“You ever wonder what happens when you mix hot lava and chicken? I did and you're about to find out!” Steve then flipped a switch, causing some type of contraption to move at the back of the shack.
Then, Steve started singing.
It was almost like a jingle for this place. Talking about how the lava chicken was crispy and spicy. It honestly was half bad, but Garrett felt otherwise.
“I’m a business owner too, but when I write a jingle I try not to make it sound like butt.” Garrett shrugged.
As the chicken landed on the counter, Steve ripped off one of the legs, biting into it and quickly recoiling from the pure heat.
Garrett scoffed and he told Steve to hand over the chicken leg.
“Careful brochacho, that chicken was just cooked using scolding hot lava!” Steve warned.
Garrett just shrugged and took a large bit out of the chicken, chewing it confidently. Steve nodded approvingly and began to lead the others more into the village. As everyone else turned away, Y/N saw Garrett as he tried his best to keep calm as the hot food burned his mouth. Y/N shook their head as he hurried behind the others. Y/N grabbed some of the chicken, finding it could be minimized like the blocks that Henry picked up.
Y/N trailed behind dawn, taking in all the sights of the village.
“We should really get a map, I don't trust just running into the forest blind.” Natalie said.
“I’ll look around and see if I find one here, but you go and ask Steve if he has one or where we can get one.” Dawn said, pulling Y/N with her.
When Natalie left and it was just Dawn and Y/N, Dawn spoke, “So, what's the deal with you and garbage boy?” She asked.
Y/N was taken aback, “N-nothing? He just comes into the bakery sometimes and I was worried about him.”
Dawn rolled her eyes, “mhm, sure. And you're just being all protective over him and hes just getting all jealous because you work next to each other, right?”
Y/N laughed, “What are you talking about?”
Dawn sighed, “Oh, come on! You ran in here worried about him and he’s acting all jealous because you're giving Steve all this attention while he's showing us around. I work with animals, Y/N, I know what it looks like when two animals like each other, and you two act just like peacocks.” Dawn laughs.
Y/N blushes, “Whatever, lets just find this stupid map.”
Dawn pulls Natalie back over to them as they talk to, what Dawn thinks, is a cartography villager.
“So… we need a map.” Natalie tries to explain to the villager. The villager just grunts.
Y/N, Dawn, and Natalie just look between each other, unsure of what that could mean.
Before any of them can try to ask in a different way, an arrow comes flying past them, striking one of the villagers on the nose before he poofs.
Mass panic ensues. Villagers run for cover as the Piglins come marching in. Steve, Garrett and Henry emerge from Steve’s weapons stash, defending the village.
Dawn, Natalie, and Y/N run for cover, hiding behind a flipped table. As a piglin lunges at them, they kick the table at it and run towards some stacked up tools to defend themselves. Dawn grabs a shovel, Natalie grabs a hoe, and Y/N grabs a pick axe. The three fight off attacks left and right, trying to get away from the invaders.
“We have to get out of here!” Y/N shouts,
“We can’t leave Henry!” Natalie yells back.
“He’s safe with Steve, we just have to meet up with them at the woodland mansion!” Dawn shouts, directing them towards where the cartographer went.
The three run towards the river where the cartographer is already taking off in a boat.
“Wait! We need a map!” Natalie yells towards the villager.
“We need a boat!” Dawn says.
Natalie then breaks a wooden plank from the dock and places it the way Henry did, “Boat magic!” Natalie yelled.
The three of them and the villager watch as the block Natalie places in the water just bobs and floats away.
“I don't think that’s how that works.” Y/N says.
“I’m sorry, I have no idea what I'm doing…” Natalie says
“Don’t worry about it, we have to go!” Y/N says, running back up the dock and towards the forest in the direction of the mansion.
~~~
Soon, the sun was already setting, and Dawn, Natalie, and Y/N were already exhausted.
“We’re already lost.” Natalie said defeated, before swinging her shovel and hitting a zombie across the head. Y/N swung their pick axe and landed the end right in the head of the zombie, stopping it from getting back up.
“I had one job, to protect Henry, and I blew it. My mom would have never let this happen. I just wish I could have been a kid for a little longer.” Natalie said, sulking.
“Trust me, Nat, no one chooses to be an adult. But I hear you.” Y/N says, passing the zombie to Dawn for her to hit with her hoe.
“Yea, you suddenly have all these responsibilities and have to give up on your dreams. You think I like having 15 hussles?” Dawn adds.
The 3 stop in their tracks as they hear growling. They turn around to suddenly see a wild wolf closing in on them.
Natalie screams and Y/N raises their weapon.
“Wait!” Dawn says, “I think this one just needs some TLC.” She says as she grabs a bone from the ground and slowly walks over to the wolf. As she gets close, she kneels down and offers the bone to the wolf, who takes it. The wolf smiles, a collar appears around its neck, the tag reading “Dennis”.
Dawn is shocked, “Dennis? Steve’s Dennis?” She asks the dog.
Dennis happily wags his tail and begins to lead them off into the forest.
“I think he knows the way!” Y/N says, following him as dawn and Natalie also follow along.
~~~
Dennis leads them to Steve and Henry, who they find passed out on the ground, Garrett nowhere to be seen. Dawn and Y/N work together to carry Steve and Natalie carries Henry, taking them to the giant red mushrooms to offer coverage as they wait for them to wake up.
Dennis leads them to the mushroom hut, where Y/N uses the supplies that Steve kept there to make some food to help Steve and Henry out once they wake up.
After a few minutes, Steve wakes up, “Dennis! Is it really you buddy?” He says as he pets Dennis. Steve looks up and see’s Henry is still unconscious.
“What happened, where’s Garrett?” Y/N asks as they hand a bowl of mushroom stew to Steve.
Steve’s brows furrow as he looks down, “He… He sacrificed himself for us. He didn’t want Malgosha’s army to catch us and knew it was the only way for us to survive.”
Tears began to form in Y/N’s eyes, but they quickly wiped them away, turning away to look out the window.
“And… they got the orb.” Steve said, the sun getting blocked out as Malgosha used the orb. Y/N shook their head, clearing the grief from their mind before speaking.
“Okay, we need a plan to fight Malgosha. We’ll wait until Henry wakes up and then we have to prepare.” Y/N said.
Once Henry wakes up, the group gets to work, crafting supplies and readying for the fight. Dawn goes out and tames more wolves while Henry invents more armour and weapons, Steve gets the supplies, and Natalie builds them. Y/N learns to make potions, crafting potions of strength and healing.
Once everything was ready, they headed to intercept Malgosha’s army, building dozens of iron golems and waiting for the army to attack. Once a single stray arrow hit one of the golems, it began.
The golems did the mass of the work, throwing piglin as they charged. Natalie and Henry charged into the battle, slashing and shooting the ones that got past. Y/N stood in the mountains, shooting poison tipped arrows and setting off TNT. Steve challenged Malgosha directly.
Henry knew he had to get the orb away from Malgosha’s portal. So he used an ender pearl to get up to the top, and Natalie stopped the great hog from reaching him. As Y/N shot down more piglins from reaching Natalie, Dawn emerged from the forest with her pack of wolves, sending them out to attack.
As everyone fought, Henry climbed towards the orb, just out of reach. Before he could grab it, the great hog sent a shot towards him, knocking him down from the tower.
“Henry!” Natalie yelled out.
Y/N’s breath caught in their throat as he fell, everyone was too far away to help him.
Just as the great hog lined up another shot to hit Henry as he fell, a ghast float came swinging in, catching Henry.
Y/N watch the float as it steadies. Piloting it was Garrett.
“Yes! Go, Garrett, go!” Y/N shouted. Everyone cheered them on as they used the ghast to destroy Malghosha’s portal, knocking the orb loose in the process. As the sun reappeared, the monsters began to burst into flames and the piglins started to zombify.
Natalie caught the orb as it bounced off the ground and Garrett and Henry landed. Y/N rushed to them and jumped up, wrapping their arms around Garrett in a hug.
Before they could even think about what they were doing, they kissed Garrett. The world felt like it stopped around the two of them.
Y/N pulled back and looked Garrett in the eyes, all he could do was smile and let out a laugh. Y/N let go of him and punched him lightly on the arm,
“Don’t you EVER scare me like that again!” They said.
Garrett rubbed his arm where the punch landed and chuckled, “Not if that's how you'll react every time.”
As Steve defeated Malgosha, the rest of the gang celebrated.
Soon , everyone was at the portal, ready to go home. As the gang said their goodbyes to Steve, he sang a short song to Dennis about how Dennis helped him and how it was time for him to help Dawn. As they passed through, they re-entered the mines. As they began the walk out, there was a whooshing sound and footsteps behind them.
Steve had decided to go back, to conquer the challenge he had started a long time ago:
To be an adult and make connections with people in the real world.
The adventure in the Over World wasn’t forgotten or a waste, though. Dawn opened up a real zoo, with Dennis as the main attraction, Natalie opened a self defense class, teaching the people of Chuglass to fight, Steve started working at Game Over World with Garrett and even started developing a video game, Block City Battle Buddies, that started the entire gang, and Y/N added more items to the bakery’s menu, selling mushroom stew, pumpkin soup, and even Steve’s lava chicken, that was extra spicy. Henry even became more confident, inventing more things and making a successful jetpack.
“I guess life is going to change a lot, huh?” Y/N asked Garrett as they leaned against the counter of Game Over World.
“Yeah, but it’s all for the better. Now I can say that I actually have friends my age.” Garrett chuckled as he draps an arm over Y/N’s shoulder. Y/N rests their head against Garrett, looking over the bustling store, filled with the local kids and their friends.
“Hey, what would you say to maybe moving in with me?” Y/N asked Garrett.
Garrett froze for a moment as he processed the question. Y/N straighted up, realizing that it was a very heavy proposition.
“I mean, it’s just a really big house! And I figure you living with me could help save you some money that could be used for the store and the game and-” before Y/N could finish, Garrett leaned down and kissed them.
“I think that’s a great idea.” He said smiling.
Y/N smiled up at him, resting their hand on his chest before they both looked back at their friends as they laughed.
Can I please request Garrett as a girl dad? 😭😭😭 Even as a vampire he'd be so gentle and loving! I'd love to see him with a human mate who happens to be a single mama.
First off, thank you so much for this request! :) I absolutely loved the idea of Garrett as a girl dad, and I had so much fun writing this. I decided to mix headcanons with full scenes to try and bring his relationship with Reader and Lily to life. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it! 💖
Garrett had wandered into the small town looking for nothing in particular. He never stayed in one place too long, but something about this town felt... different.
He first saw you at the grocery store, struggling with a tired, fussy toddler on your hip while trying to pay for the groceries. Lily, barely four years old, was squirming in your arms, clearly unhappy about something. Garrett wasn’t one to intervene in human affairs, but when he heard the cashier’s rude tone, something inside him bristled. “Look, lady, if you don’t have enough-” You sighed, clearly exhausted and completely done with the cashier, and reached for your wallet with one hand while the other tried to keep Lily still. “I do. I just need a second.” Something in Garrett made him want to help. In a blur too fast for human eyes to catch, he stepped beside you and placed a crisp bill on the counter. “This should cover it.” You turned to him startled and confused as Lily blinked up at him with wide, curious eyes. “Oh, no, you don’t have to!” “I insist,” Garrett said smoothly, flashing a charming smile. He turned to Lily and spoke in a gentle manner that surprised even him. “Besides, it looks like this little one deserves a treat after being so patient.” Lily studied him carefully, then, in a completely unexpected move, reached for his wild hair. “You look like a pirate!” Garrett chuckled. “Aye, that I do, lass.” You shook your head but smiled nonetheless. “Thank you. That was… kind of you.” Garrett tipped an imaginary hat. “Anytime.” And just like that, he was hooked.
You have been hesitant at first. A mysterious, handsome man appearing out of nowhere and taking an interest in you and your daughter? It sounded like the start of a fairy tale….or a horror story. But Garrett was patient. He didn’t push nor did he invade your space. He simply kept showing up wherever you guys went, always ready with a smile for Lily and a knowing look for you. One evening, he found you sitting on the porch, visibly exhausted, while Lily played in the yard. He took a seat as well and watched the little girl chase fireflies. “She likes you,” you admitted, almost begrudgingly. Garrett smirked. “What’s not to like?” You rolled your eyes at him. “She doesn’t warm up to people easily.” Garrett watched as Lily toddled over to him and held up a tiny hand. He extended his own, letting her place a glowing firefly in his palm. “Seems to me she’s got good instincts.” Lily beamed and gave him a toothy grin. “You can keep it!” Garrett smiled endearingly. "An honoured gift, princess." Your heart softened a little more.
Despite his wild, rebellious nature, Garrett is shockingly gentle with Lily. He makes sure to always speak softly to her, even when he’s passionate or frustrated about something else.
It starts as a joke, but Garrett becomes the designated client at Lily's hair salon. Lily loves his long hair and insists on playing with it, weaving it into messy braids and pigtails, and adorning it with colourful hair clips and flower crowns. At first, he pretended to hate it but it was really obvious that he loved it. He even begged you to teach him how to braid hair so he could do Lily’s hair as well.
(you are planning to buy Lily a kid's makeup set next, Garret would look really good with sparkly blue eyeshadow)
Garrett has fought in wars and challenged authority figures, but he will sit through an entire tea party wearing a ridiculous hat if it makes Lily happy. you secretly take pictures
He feels an overwhelming instinct to keep you safe. Whether it's shielding you from supernatural threats or simply ensuring Lily never crosses the street without holding his hand, he is hyper-aware of your safety.
Let's be real he has centuries of knowledge and firsthand historical experience, so bedtime stories with Garrett are next level. Lily gets to hear about the Revolutionary War in dramatic detail, but he always makes sure to tone it down to keep it child-friendly. Just you wait when she is old enough so he can help her with her History homework…
As a vampire, he doesn’t sleep, eat, or get tired, but he adjusts to human life. He learns how to cook even if he doesn’t eat the food. The food was inedible in his humble beginnings but with time he started getting better. He even started preparing Lily's lunch and is always trying to arrange it into some animal-looking thing with a little note. While cooking, Garrett wears a ‘kiss the cook’ apron only because you got it for him.....he huffs and puffs if you don't actually kiss him.
It happened on accident. Garrett had been in your lives for almost a year by now, seamlessly blending into your little world. Lily adored him, and you – well, you had stopped pretending you didn’t a long time ago. One night, Lily was half-asleep after the bedtime story when she reached for him instead of you. “Daddy,” she murmured, curling into his chest. Garrett froze. Time stopped. You were standing in the doorway, eyes wide and a hand over your mouth. Lily’s breathing evened out, already lost to sleep again, but Garrett felt something shift deep in his immortal cold heart. Later, when you met his gaze and whispered, “Are you okay?” he swallowed hard, his voice rough when he finally spoke. “I’ve never been better.” Garrett didn’t move for a long time. The sound of Lily’s sleepy voice echoing in his head felt like a shock to his system. Something shifted and clicked into place in a way he never knew was possible. Daddy. He had lived through centuries, fought wars, and roamed aimlessly through life without a single attachment. And yet here he was, with a tiny human trusting him enough to give him a title that carried more weight than anything he had ever known. He glanced up at you. You were still watching him with an unreadable expression, but your eyes were soft. Softer than he had ever seen them. Slowly, you stepped forward, kneeling beside the couch where he sat. “She already thinks of you that way,” you whispered. “I think… I think she has for a while.” Garrett carefully adjusted Lily in his arms, his fingers brushing through her soft curls. “And you?” You sucked in a breath but didn't look away. "You know how I feel." He did. He had known for weeks, maybe even months, but hearing it aloud, seeing it in your eyes – it was completely different. Garrett reached for your hand, his cool fingers tracing over your knuckles. “I’ve never had anything like this,” he admitted. “Not in all my years.” You finally gave him a small smile. “And?” He exhaled, brushing a kiss against Lily’s forehead. “And I never want to lose it.” You leaned in, resting your forehead against his shoulder. “You won’t.” For the first time in his existence, Garrett believed it.
Garrett never expected to find a home, much less a family. But in you and Lily, he found both. And for the first time in centuries, he wasn’t just a wanderer anymore. He was only yours.
In the heart of the forest, (Y/N) stood with her mate Garrett, a bond that had grown stronger through centuries of shared experiences. Her long brown hair cascaded down her shoulders, a stark contrast to the shimmering silver of her eyes. (Y/N) possessed an extraordinary ability, one that allowed her to understand and speak any language simply by touching the person. A skill that had come in handy during their nomadic existence.
One evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting hues of orange and pink across the sky, (Y/N) felt a wave of nostalgia wash over her. She often thought about her human life, a time when she had been a mother to a young man named Jasper. He had left for war, only for her to receive news of his tragic demise shortly after. It was a pain that had never truly healed.
"Garrett," she said softly, her voice carrying the weight of memories. "There's something I need to tell you."
Garrett turned his gaze toward her, concern etched into his features. "What is it, love?"
Taking a deep breath, (Y/N) began recounting the tale of her human life, her voice tinged with sadness. "I had a son, Jasper. He left for war, and I was told he never returned. That he died on the battlefield."
Garrett's expression shifted from concern to surprise. "Jasper? I think I know him."
(Y/N)’s heart skipped a beat. "What do you mean? How could you know him?"
Garrett's eyes met hers, his voice laced with a mix of uncertainty and realization. "I think he survived, (Y/N). I believe he was adopted by an old friend of mine after he was turned."
(Y/N)'s heart raced, hope and disbelief warring within her. "That can't be true. I was told he died. Are you certain?"
Garrett nodded, conviction in his gaze. "I've seen him, (Y/N). He's part of a coven, the Cullens, and I've crossed paths with him. He's a vampire now."
Tears welled up in (Y/N)’s eyes, emotions swirling as memories resurfaced. She felt a mixture of joy and sorrow, the prospect of seeing her son again too overwhelming to ignore.
"Take me to him, Garrett," she implored. "Please, I need to see him."
Garrett's expression softened, his fingers gently brushing against (Y/N)’s cheek. "Of course, my love. If he's truly your son, you deserve to reunite."
With a newfound determination, (Y/N) and Garrett embarked on a journey to find the Cullen coven. As they approached the house, (Y/N)’s heart raced with anticipation. The prospect of seeing Jasper again, even in his immortal form, was almost too much to bear.
The door opened, revealing a strikingly beautiful family. A tall, blonde vampire with a strong yet gentle demeanor stepped forward.
"Hello," he greeted warmly. "I'm Carlisle Cullen. How can we help you?"
Y/N took a deep breath, her fingers tightening around Garrett's hand. "I'm (Y/N). This is Garrett. We've come to see someone. Someone named Jasper."
Carlisle's expression shifted from curiosity to understanding. "Ah, you must be (Y/N). Jasper has spoken of you."
Emotion choked (Y/N)’s voice. "May we see him? Please."
Carlisle nodded and stepped aside, allowing them entry. (Y/N)’s heart raced as she caught sight of him. Jasper stood a short distance away, his golden eyes meeting hers with a mixture of shock and recognition.
"Mother?" he whispered, his voice barely audible.
Tears streamed down (Y/N)’s cheeks as she took a step forward, her fingers trembling with a mixture of longing and joy. "Jasper, my sweet boy."
In an instant, they were wrapped in an embrace that transcended time and pain. (Y/N) held her son tightly, her heart finally finding the closure it had desperately sought for centuries.
As the Cullens watched the reunion unfold, a tangible bond of family and love, they understood the weight of the moment. (Y/N) had unearthed a piece of her past, and in doing so, had forged a new chapter in her immortal life.
Jasper's eyes remained locked with (Y/N)’s, disbelief and shock written across his face. He had thought his mother was long gone, lost to the ravages of time and the cruel circumstances of his transformation. And yet, here she stood before him, a living testament to the unexpected twists of fate.
"Mother," Jasper managed to choke out, his voice trembling with a mix of emotions. "Is it really you?"
Tears glistened in (Y/N)’s eyes as she nodded, her voice barely more than a whisper. "Yes, Jasper. It's me, my dear boy."
Emotion washed over Jasper, the floodgates of memories opening wide. His human life, the love he had for his mother, the pain of parting, all of it surged to the forefront of his mind. He stepped closer, his arms hesitantly encircling her once more, the years of separation melting away in that simple embrace.
"You were turned," Jasper murmured, his voice a mixture of wonder and realization. "You've become like me."
(Y/N) nodded, her fingers gently brushing against his cheek. "Yes, after I believed you were gone, the pain was too much to bear. Garrett found me, and he changed me."
Jasper's gaze shifted to Garrett, his eyes narrowing slightly as he assessed the man who stood beside his mother. Garrett, for his part, met Jasper's gaze with a mixture of understanding and respect.
"I owe you an explanation," Garrett said calmly. "Your mother and I are mates now."
Jasper's eyes widened, the gravity of the situation settling in. "Mates?"
(Y/N$ nodded, her fingers intertwining with Garrett's. "Yes, Jasper. Garrett has been by my side for centuries. He's helped me heal, helped me find a new purpose."
Jasper's emotions were a whirlwind—confusion, surprise, and an underlying sense of happiness for his mother. He glanced back at (Y/N), his eyes searching her face for answers.
"You're engaged?" Jasper asked, his tone a mixture of surprise and curiosity.
(Y/N) smiled softly, a blush touching her cheeks. "Yes, we are."
Garrett added, his voice filled with genuine warmth, "Jasper, your mother is an extraordinary woman. We've found strength and love in each other."
Jasper's expression softened, his initial reservations giving way to a growing acceptance of the situation. He had been through enough in his immortal life to know that love could be found in the most unexpected places.
"I'm glad you found each other," Jasper said, his voice sincere. "You deserve happiness, Mom."
(Y/N)’s smile widened, relief and gratitude evident in her eyes. "Thank you, Jasper."
As the trio stood together, the weight of the past and the promise of the future intertwined, Jasper felt a sense of belonging he hadn't experienced in a long time. The reunion had brought about an unexpected twist in his immortal existence, one that would forever change the dynamics of his relationship with his mother and her mate.
In that moment, Jasper realized that even in the world of vampires and eternal life, connections could be mended and new bonds formed. And as he looked at (Y/N) and Garrett, hand in hand, he knew that their love story was a testament to the resilience of the human heart, even in the face of immortality.
Hello! I'd love to see Garrett from Twilight with a soulmate au! I'd love to see him with a human mate, he'd be such a smitten kitten for her for sure! I'm open to the clock running down and them meeting or the red string and finding each other, or other ideas if you have one in mind.
Please and thank you!!
(A/N: I had such a fun time writing this piece! Soulmate Au's are truly one of my favorites. Thank you for such a lovely request, I hope you enjoy the fic💕)
Forever? Forever.
Pairing: Garrett x Human! Reader
Soulmate! Au (red string)
Disclaimer: I do not own any of the twilight characters, nor do I claim them as my own. This work is purely fictional.
Summary: You had always been told your soulmate was dead. That your string was never fully red because they were no longer here. Imagine your surprise when your soulmate does exist..just as a vampire. A vampire that absolutely adores you at that.
‼️TW‼️: mentions of death, mentions of eating a bunny (should that be a warning, idk??)
Word Count: 2,034 (I got a bit carried away)
Everyone was born with a red string, one that connected you to your soulmate. Most people had it wrapped around their finger or their wrist, but not you. Your string sprouted from your wrist as if it grew within your very veins. Not only that, but the further the string got from you, the paler it got, almost as if it was losing color. Everyone had told you that it meant your soulmate was dead, or dying, but something told you otherwise.
Unlike everyone else, your string came with sensations. Not anything weird, just feelings. Feelings of warmth whenever your hands would shake, or a sudden chill whenever you had a fever, almost as if your soulmate was comforting you. Oddly enough these occurrences never bothered you, in fact, they made you feel less alone.
You weren’t always alone. You had a family, friends, and past lovers, but it was never enough. Despite how great they were, they made you feel suffocated. You wanted more, so you got more. Within a night you had packed a suitcase and moved to Forks, Washington where you worked early shifts at the local diner, and took night classes at the local college. It was nothing fancy, but it made you feel alive. The rush of moving somewhere new, where no one knew your name or your face felt like a breath of fresh air. The feeling of running on a few hours of sleep so that you could fit work, class, and exploration into your day was euphoric…until it wasn’t.
After a year you had grown bored of the quaint town. Its same blue hue became dull and the rush soon became tiring. The only thing you had left was the woods. Now, as ominous as it sounds, the woods in Forks seemed guarded. Somewhere you constantly felt watched but not in a horrifying, murderous way. The forests become your safe haven for early-morning readings and late-night strolls.
..and also the place where you first met him.
It had been stormy that morning. The power at the diner had been knocked out and with no backup generator, they let the staff go home. You decided to take a cut through the forest instead of hailing a cab. Was it the best decision? Absolutely not, but you weren’t the only one who had made it. Halfway down your path, you stumbled upon a fellow holding a rabbit. His eyes found you before you found him. His eyes followed your red string back to his own. He was mated to a human, how fascinating.
His thoughts seem to escape him for a moment as he murmured, “A human.”
“ An odd man” You shot back quickly. His mouth stretches into a grin at your wit. You clearly had some spunk to you, and he liked spunk.
“This odd man does have a name. I’m Garrett, and you?” Garrett noticed that you had yet to take notice of the tautness of your string, of the connection it bore to him. Little did he know that you had given up on finding your soulmate after years of being told that they were dead.
Ignoring his question, your eyes flickered down to the rabbit still in his hands, “ Why are you holding a rabbit?”
“ I’m sheltering it from the rain” That was a lie. Garrett had intended to feed off of the bunny, as he hadn’t had a feeding since he arrived to help the Cullens. However, upon your scrutinizing gaze, he deemed it best to release the poor thing. It’s not as if the small creature would fulfill his diet anyway.
“Right. Nice meeting you then, Garrett” The name tag on your uniform seemed to gleam at him through the rain as you began to walk away.
“ I take it everything in town is closed down then?” Your eyes shot to Garrett’s in confusion while he continued, “Unless you normally parade through the forest in waitress attire.”
“ A few places remain open, such as the hospital. Which is where I’ll end up if I don’t get out of this rain.” Despite the intrigue nagging at the back of your mind, you turned away from Garrett and continued on your way. Missing the way he grinned at your remark.
“ It was nice meeting you as well!” Garrett called after you before murmuring to himself, “Let’s hope our paths cross again soon.”
And soon it was. The second time you met Garrett he was sat on the floor of the town’s library. The floor of the romance section to be exact. His hair was dry this time, allowing you to see its naturally curly state. The only odd thing being the clothes he wore. They were the exact same pair you had seen him in days ago, and truthfully they looked like they were from another time.
“Are you going to stare at me all day or actually speak to me?” Garrett turned his head to look at you. His eyes swept over your comfy attire with a small smile. You looked much more relaxed in your casual clothing than in a wet work uniform.
“I wasn’t staring” You grumbled, “ I was just surprised to see you in the romance section is all.”
Garrett stood and dusted himself off, “ Meeting me in the forest one time is enough to tell you about my reading preferences? Besides, I wanted to see what keeps the romantics entertained these days”
“Fair enough” You shrug. Your eyes scan the shelves for a moment before settling on the top row. You reach up for the book you wanted, but it remained just out of your reach. A warmth, like the one you often felt through your string, surrounded you from behind. Turning your head you saw Garrett reaching past you to grab the book with ease.
He hands it down to you with a smirk, “ I believe this what you wanted, my lady”
“Thank you” Your voice was quiet as it caught in the back of your throat. You weren’t meek by any means but his eyes had taken you off guard. They were red, not like the auburn shade his hair was, but a blood red. You pulled your eyes from his, trailing them over his pale skin until you reached his hands. A silent gasp left your lips as you noticed that Garret’s thread also sprouted from his wrist and that it was pale blue. You shifted your wrist in curiosity, waiting to see if Garrett’s thread would move. When it did your eyes snapped back up to his. Garrett was looking at you softly, yet intently.
“Are you..” You couldn’t even bring yourself to say it.
“-Dead?” Garrett finished. You nodded silently, awaiting an answer. Garrett simply looked down at the novel in your hands. Once you followed his gaze it all clicked. Empire of the Vampire.
“Oh..you’re-..you” None of your words felt right. Were you terrified, or curious? Excited perhaps?
Garrett hooked a finger beneath your chin, guiding you to look up at him again, “ Does it bother you?”
The waiting expression in his eyes almost seemed sad, “ No, should it?”
“ No. Just because I’m a monstrous thing does not mean I would harm you” Garrett reassured, “ I’ve grown far too attached to you to hurt you, my dear human.”
Heat blossomed within your chest alongside confusion. The challenging look in your eye that Garrett had come to cherish returned quickly, “ You’ve only just met me.”
“ I’ve known about you for ages. Your heartbeat thrummed through my thread and your feelings flooded my head” As if on cue, the warmth you’ve felt all your life thrummed through the thread and into your veins. It all made sense now. All these years Garrett had been your source of comfort while you had been his taste of humanity.
You exhaled softly, “Where do we go from here?”
“Wherever you want. You could forget this ever happened and continue your life as is-” The thought of continuing your boring day-to-day with the knowledge of Garrett in the back of your mind felt criminal.
You were quick to interrupt, “-I don’t want to forget you. I want us to figure this out together.”
“ Then, by all means, tell me where to start and I’ll follow”, Garrett spoke. He was closer this time, so close that the tip of his nose almost touched yours.
You took a deep breath, “Start by telling me everything.”
And so he did. The two of you sat on the floor of the romance section without a care for time. You leaned against the bookshelf as Garrett told you stories of his life and transformation, only pausing when other people passed by. Eventually, he told you about his thread. How it had started around his wrist but then sunk into the skin when he turned into a vampire. After what seemed like hours, Garrett offered to walk you home, in exchange for stories about your own life. Right before the two of you reached your home, Garrett explained the situation with the Cullens. He didn’t want to potentially die in a vampire battle and leave you completely in the dark. Surprisingly, you took it better than he imagined, though he could still feel your worry through the thread.
“Don’t worry about me, dear human. I have been in many wars” His hands cradled the sides of your face as he looked down at you, “Now inside you go. It is nearly sunrise and you have yet to sleep.”
“Where will you be tomorrow?” You inquire with longing brewing in your eyes. Part of you felt like he would vanish with the wind.
Garrett chuckles softly, “I have to check in with Carlisle, but don’t fret, I shall be here when you wake in the morning”
“I could come with you-”
Garrett shakes his head firmly, “ No, some of the others don’t have control of their bloodlust and I would rather keep you alive and safe.”
“Alright, I suppose I’ll see you in the morning then” You detach yourself from his presence and turn to head inside. Once you reach the door, you turn to wave at him once more. He uncrosses his arms for a brief moment to wave back. You dream of him that night, of what your life could’ve been had you been born in his era. Garrett perched himself on a tree as you slept. Staying close enough to keep track of your heartbeat, but not so close that you felt overwhelmed.
By the time you woke, Garrett had run to Carlisle’s and back already. The run down for the day didn’t take nearly as much time as he thought. He was back in the tree by the time you left the house for the day.
“No work uniform today either?” He observed.
“Nope, I have today off” You informed him,” Figured I would visit somewhere for lunch, care to join me?”
Garrett jumped down from the tree, landing skillfully behind you as you began walking, “ I would never say no to time with you, dear human.”
“You’re cheesy” You fought back the blush that coated your cheeks.
“I prefer to call myself a hopeless romantic, thank you very much” Garrett snarked, “Speaking of romantics, how about I carry you? We would arrive much faster.”
You snorted out a laugh, “ No thank you. Not every woman is comfortable being picked up off her feet, Garrett”
“Your independence is going to be the death of my romanticism, just as the British were to peace” He mumbled.
You stopped walking to face him, “ Did you just compare me to the British invasion?”
“ Is this the part where I lie or say sorry?” Garrett teased, walking to you with his hands behind his back.
You shook your head with a chuckle, “ The universe expects me to spend forever with you and yet you’ve already insulted me before our first date. Perhaps it should reconsider.”
“ Perhaps it shouldn’t” Garrett hummed, “Not as if it has any say in the matter anymore. You’re stuck with me forever.”
Your eyes twinkled at the thought, “ Forever?”
Garrett leaned down until his nose touched yours again, “ Forever.”
You inspired some Benny thoughts……..I imagine the Bubba is as possessive over momma as Benny. Everytime Benny touches you or kisses or gets close he gets angry babble or cry from the baby. How do you think Ben would handle it?? 🤪
a/n: ARIA. How DARE you continue the hubby Benny saga with this masterpiece of an idea! I imagine Bubba.... being what Benny was like as a kid HAHA Enjoyed the hell outta this one ('cause who doesn't love pouty Benny!!). Thank you, thank you for sticking 'round, Aria baby !😭
warnings: hubby benny both loves and is jealous of his son (but really they act the same), family-focused fluff!
» wanna read more on garrett's characters? check out my new g.hedlund m.list!
Now, Bubba? His little boy? His little Benjamin Miller Jr.?
That was his kid right there, his blood without a doubt.
But damn, if he wasn’t the biggest mama’s boy he’s ever seen–
He knew it wasn’t a coincidence anymore, the man even wrote down the times where it was too good to be one.
The most significant one was two months ago, when he was playing with Bubba in the playpen with you. Benny had the day off, the television was playing at a low volume and the house, overall, had good vibes, as it always did. Upon noticing the time on the clock, you stood up.
“I gotta get the laundry upstairs real quick,” You told Benny, playfully adding, “I better not see your boxing shorts from three days ago in the basket.”
He pouted, “You’re breaking my heart, pretty girl, you know I’d get it washed as soon as I got home.”
You knew that, and he knew that you knew, and it was obvious when the two of you shared a soft laugh before kissing the crown of his head.
“Okay, dummy,” You smiled before waving at Bubba who stared up at you since you stood up, “I’ll be right back, okay?”
You only took a few steps away from the playpen and towards the stairs when Bubba began crying. Halting, you immediately came back, and even as Benny was already holding him, Bubba wasn’t calming down.
“Hey, hey, it’s okay, mama’s just going upstairs,” Your husband cooed and rocked the toddler, “She’ll come back and play again. Your old man’s here, too.”
Nothing, Bubba still wailed pitifully. Unable to fight your maternal instincts, you offered to hold him. Benny didn’t want to, he wanted you to have the time for yourself, even if you were just doing a bit of laundry, but he didn’t want to stress you about worrying for both the kid and the dirty clothes either, so, he gently passed Bubba to you.
As soon as you cooed at your son, he stopped crying. Tears staining his smooth cheeks as he looked up at you, “Hi, you! I’m here, don’t worry. Don’t you worry.”
He wasn’t in the happy-go-lucky mood like he was before, but he most definitely wasn’t in the worst one either, so, you were thankful for that.
Benny whistled, standing side to side so he could look at his son with you, “Little rascal, ain’t ya’?”
Bubba just smacked his lips, all snug in your arms.
You snorted, “I know where he got that from,”
Looking up at Benny, you added guiltily, “But I gotta go get the laundry…”
Say no more.
“I’ll do it,” Benny reassured, wrapping one of his arms around you and murmuring into your temple, “I’ll do it.”
But the sweet, fleeting moment was interrupted when Bubba bopped his father in the head with the soft, fabric teether—did he have that in his hand before?
Even so, Benny pretended to feel hurt, letting out an ‘ow!’ as he held his head, and just like he expected, it made his boy laugh.
So, his son found amusement in his pain. Who knew?
“Alright, I’ll be right back,” Benny sighed, but it was all lighthearted, just like his eyeroll. He gently pinched his son’s cheek before turning to you to steal a kiss. The boxer was able to swiftly dodge his son’s teether toy attack for stealing his mother’s attention, playfully adding as he went up the stairs, “Don’t be hogging your mom’s attention while I’m gone!”
And that was one of the many instances.
Bubba saying ‘mama’ over ‘papa’ first.
The constant bonks with soft toys whenever he’d see you and Benny kiss or hug.
When Bubba preferred to be with you physically while you stirred the pot with your free hand, even if Benny was standing hip to hip with you.
Hell, even a night or three, when Benny had you on your back in bed, just about to tug your nightwear down, Bubba cried, and the two of you immediately rushed out to his crib.
Make no mistake, he was grateful to have a kid at all, the best, proudest dad there is, but goodness, if it didn’t make him pout just a little bit, much to your amusement.
One day, when Benny hung out with his brother, telling him how he may or may not have learnt that his boy was a mama’s boy, and for some reason, expected a teeny bit of sympathy, the older Miller laughed in his face.
Laughed.
“He’s you,” Will shrugged, “You were literally like that as a kid.”
Benny blinked. Come to think of it–
He did kind of remember bopping his brother on the head with a toy after picking him up from his mother’s arms, and unlike the soft teether toy Bubba used him at the time, Benny used a plastic toy.
Like a truck toy-plastic or a transformer toy-plastic.
As in, he may or may not have remembered the sound of it when it collided with his older brother’s head.
The longer he recalled more memories when he was almost like Bubba in his time as a child, Benny pursed his lips and nodded slowly, Will knew he was starting to remember more than a handful.
Okay, yeah, the blood does run deep, more than he realized it.
But, despite it all, he knew his son loved him, too. Immensely, just as he did. To be cheered on by the little kid whenever he was in the ring, to be offered a toy or ‘num nums’ whenever he somehow knew his father was feeling under the weather, or to be ‘defended’ in the midst of a banter with Frankie by pulling his godfather’s moustache, and many more.
His son’s antics were enough to make him laugh, his eyes rolled in amusement because, at the end of the day, Bubba knew who his father was, always giving him the same gummy smile as he does with you.
Turning back to the framed photo in the living room, the one taken during Bubba’s first winter and Christmas with the three of you, he smiled to himself as he rocked the same toddler in his arms, one of the little days where he rested well with his father even when he knew his mother was in the house.
At the end of the day, it was still the three of you against the world.
Twilight Imagines- Benjamin
First Sight
[Masterlist]
Requested by: @twilightlover2007
Summary: in where the Cullens are getting multiple covens together to help them convince the Volturi that Renesmee is not a danger Benjamin spots [Name] and is immediately enamored by her. Even with her two year old daughter. Also finding out they have similar abilities.
I sit in the living room with Bella and Edward as we watch Renesmee play with Athaliah. I cross my arms, holding myself. "How do you feel?" Edward asks me suddenly and I turn to him. "Read my mind." I roll my eyes, he scoffs out a laugh. "I'm asking so you can let it out."
He responds, I look back to the girls. "Yeah, we haven't talked much since you found out about her." Bella chimes into the conversation. I frown for a second.
"It's a weird situation, I don't really know how I feel." I tell them in all honesty. One second Renesmee was a newborn and seconds later she was months old and now she's physically 4 years old.
"I just wish we didn't have to deal with the Volturi. Once again." I hold my head in my hands. Last time we dealt with them was when I turned into a vampire, Athatliah was only 16 months old. They were worried that I would turn Athaliah.
We had to convince them I wouldn't go near her until I had control over my thirst and she wouldn't know anything about us until she was the age of turning or if anything I would fake my death and she'd never see us again. It's something I don't even want to consider. It's something I have 16 years until I have to truly think about. The Volturi believed us when Aro looked into Edward's mind along with mine. Also with the fact that my ability was strong, I would put up a fight. They didn't need any of their men dead.
"I wish that woman just talked to us before running straight to the Volturi. She's also going to get killed." I lift my head back up. Renesmee takes Athaliah over to us and they both smile. I pick up my daughter, placing her on my lap. Edward doing the same with his daughter.
"All right, lovely, it's time for a nap." I stand up. "I'll meet you guys outside." I tell my two best friends before walking upstairs. They have a crib that was originally for Renesmee in Edward's old room. I place Athaliah down. I could tell she was tired so when she started crying I knew it was only for a few minutes.
The first year of her life I cried almost every time she cried. I couldn't handle it. My mom was a huge help since Athaliah's dad left in the beginning of my pregnancy. His parents moved to a whole different state so he didn't have to be a father to our baby. I grieved the relationship in the beginning. I don't really care anymore.
Bella was the only friend I've had ever since giving birth. Other people judged right away. Not Bella. She sometimes would babysit for me if I had to work and no daycare. My mom would pay her as well. Edward then started to help with her. Then he bonded with Athaliah as well. They both became an aunt and uncle to my daughter. I am forever grateful for them.
When her cries stop I snap out of my thoughts. Quietly slipping out of the room. I go downstairs and join everyone outside. Bella and Edward showing the new vampires renesmee's gift. I look off into the distance to see Carlisle and Esme coming our way with three new people. They're from the Egyptian Coven, they drink human blood. I lock eyes with the younger looking man. His eyes were a dark red. They felt entrancing. I couldn't look away. That was until Rosalie comes up to me.
"Could you help me with something?" She asks in a quiet tone, I furrow my eyebrows but nod my head. Following after her. Feeling eyes watch me the entire time. The blonde leads me back into the house where Zafrina, Kachiri, and Senna were standing in our way. "These ladies are from the Amazon coven. They wanted to meet you." Rosalie speaks softly, I place a hand on my chest, confused on why they would want to speak to me. "They've heard of your ability." Emmett tells me, I let out a little 'oh' standing straighter.
"Zafrina likes meeting people similar to her. Having incredible gifts." Kachiri informs me. "What's your gift?" I tilt my head, intrigued. The quiet woman smiles slightly, staring at me. Focusing on something and then suddenly I'm not in the house anymore. I'm back outside. But not our outside. A different place. A place I've never seen before. It was gorgeous.
Then I'm back in the house and I stare at her with wide eyes. "That... was amazing." I tell her, utterly in shock. She grins back to me. "We'd like to see your ability." Kachiri says, I make a face, turning to Rosalie and Emmett who nod their heads for me to do it. "We'd uh, we would have to go outside." I lead the way outside, in front of the porch. The three from the Amazon Coven stand on the porch with Rosalie, Emmett was standing in the door frame.
I smile to them as the cloud above us gets darker than earlier. Their expressions are confused until I bring my arms in the air and it starts raining. It was sprinkling at first then thunder struck. I felt the others crowd around me. I then make it storm. Everyone getting soaked. And then suddenly it stops as I stop focusing on the sky. I take a deep breath. The others begin to clap.
"That's just a tiny bit of what she can do." Emmett roars out, I nod my head sheepishly. "How did you find that out?" One of the Denali sisters ask me. "When I turned, the pain caused a storm. The wind was strong. The weather was insane that night. Later on when I wasn't paying attention and every time I had a huge emotion, a storm began every time. It's a lot easier to control now." I smile as I then make it begin to snow. Renesmee runs up to me with a huge smile. I pick her up so she can play with the snowflakes.
"This is a powerful ability... The Volturi would have no chance against us." Garrett laughs beside Kate who has a tiny smirk on her face. "You could deflect my electricity and make it more powerful." She tells me, lifting one of her hands to show me the electricity coming out of it.
Then everyone begins to talk to one another about it. I place Renesmee down, she holds my hand though instead of running off. I listen outside of the others to see if Athaliah has woken up but her breathing is still slowed. I can tell she's about to wake up. Her naps aren't very long lately.
A person walks up to me, startling me. "Sorry, didn't mean to scare you." It was the younger looking man from the Egyptian Coven. I wave a hand. "It's alright, I was trying to make sure my daughter was still sleeping." I sigh out, looking down to my niece who was staring up at the man.
"Your daughter?" He asks, looking around. "Her name's Athaliah." I tell him, we begin to walk inside the house, Renesmee sticking by my side because I think she knows we're going to see my girl. "Beautiful name." He compliments, I quietly thank him. His looks are entrancing I can barely focus on what is being said.
It goes silent between us until Renesmee speaks up in a small sweet tone. "He can make tornados, smaller than yours though." I smile down at her. "Really?"
I've only created a tornado once and right as it formed we made it disappear. That was before Renesmee was born though. Of course Emmett told her about it though. "Our gifts are incredibly similar." He tells me. Before he can say anything else though I hear my daughter begin to stir. Her tiny whines sounding out to down here. "Oh, I have to go, I'll be back." I step up the first couple of steps. He stands there, I can tell her wishes to say something though.
Renesmee was already running to the bedroom though. "What's your name?" I ask him.
"Benjamin." He says. I smile. "Beautiful name." I then head up the stairs.
Renesmee is playing with Athaliah through the bars of the crib. I smile, heading over to them and picking up my daughter. "Let's go play downstairs." Renesmee says, taking my hand once again and dragging me back down. Benjamin was still standing there just as he was before I left.
I was glad to be honest. I was hoping he waited for me. "This is Athaliah, Athaliah, meet Benjamin." I bounce her on my hip, pointing to the beautiful man. She tiredly looks to him.
Then suddenly doing grabby hands at him for him to take her. I furrow my eyebrows. It usually takes her a minute to get used to new people. He sticks his hand out, letting her grab onto it. It wasn't enough though she lunges her body forward so he could take her out of my arms. I laugh. "Sorry, you don't have to-"
"I don't mind as long as you don't." He puts his hands out and I shrug my shoulders, handing her over to him. Renesmee watches, a little bit annoyed until Edward comes in and tells her to go with him somewhere. I watch as my daughter puts his face into her hands. I then wondered if that was a good idea looking at his eyes which were red. Meaning he eats humans.
I bit my lip. He looks over to me and I think he can sense my worry. He gives me a short smile and places Athaliah down. She walks back to me, hugging my legs. She's still waking up.
Later in the night Bella and I were getting the girls to sleep. Athaliah sprawled out, her arm going over Renesmee's torso. She's holding onto her hand. I look up to see Bella looking at someone. I trace where. It was Benjamin who was sitting beside Jacob. He was staring at me though. "He seems enamored by you." She whispers, careful not to wake the kids. I snort out a laugh. "Yeah, okay. He wants a single mom." I joke, rolling my eyes.
"I mean the whole time he's been here he's been staring at you. He keeps trying to talk with you and he's brought you up to us every chance he gets. Asking about your ability." She informs me and I give her a look. "Yeah, he's interested in my ability. Not me." I sit up straight, crossing my legs.
"You're so oblivious, [Name]." She comments, sitting up as well. We eventually get up listening to Vladimir and Stefan talk about how they despise the Volturi and why. They were characters, that was for sure.
I sit down by the fire, a log was already there but no one else was there. They all went to different areas of the woods. I stared at the flames wondering how tomorrow was going to go. Someone sat beside me but neither of us spoke. I didn't even move my head to see.
"[Name]." The person speaks up after moments of silence. I hum out in response. "I uh I've never been left this speechless before. I don't know what to say around you." It was Benjamin, I smile to myself before turning to face him. "I'm boring, I apologize." I say, now just observing his features and I wonder what he was like as a human. If he was always this perfect.
"No, you're not at all. You make me nervous. It's a feeling I don't think I've ever experienced." His eyes lock with mine and I badly want to look away. But I can't. I'm stuck in place. "When did you turn?" I slightly change the subject. "1815." My eyes widen to his answer. He begins to laugh at my reaction. "Sorry, that was rude." I rub my hands together, finally looking away due to embarrassment.
"I expected it, when did you turn?"
"Last year."
"A newborn practically and you're that in control of your ability?" He seemed to be surprised.
"I couldn't control my ability completely until maybe six years after turning." He then ignites fire from his pointer finger. "You control the elements?" I ask in amazement. "And you control the weather." He states.
"Our abilities are incredibly similar." I laugh, excited. Watching the flames on his finger tip before he closes his fist and it goes away.
For hours we talk about our abilities, about his life before turning. I do the same. Telling him a bit about Athaliah. It never felt like a bad subject bringing her up like it usually does with men.
He actually asks about her and that's where I feel he doesn't want to be with me but to be friends.
"Your daughter truly has your looks." We both look to my sleeping daughter who is still sprawled out. I smile. "Thank you. She's my everything." I tell him.
"I can tell."
"I'm interested in getting to know you more." Benjamin says, this time he cautiously takes my hand into his. Making sure I was okay with it before gripping a little tighter. "What do you want to know?" I nervously ask.
"No, I mean courting you. You being mine, me being yours." He explains, I scrunch my nose before saying. "it might be forward, I know this. But you, seeing you, talking to you today. It only makes me want to be yours more."
"What about Athaliah, she comes with, we're a package deal. I'm a single mother. She's human, you eat off... humans." I take my hand back, now giving him a serious expression. It feels crazy but I feel the same way. I feel so strongly for him and I can't lose it but I also have to put my child first.
"I'll love her as my own. I'll eat animals for you both. I'll learn." He assures me, I pause for a moment.
"This feels crazy." I laugh out. "But I'll give it a try. I'm interested in getting to know you more." Even though we don't know what's going to happen tomorrow I don't care. I deserve to be happy even for a little bit.
Stay
After he and his brothers track down and kill the men who murdered their mother, Jack returns home to find you waiting in his room, and he doesn't want you to leave.
Jack Mercer x f!reader
Warnings: mentions of death/murder/trauma, a little homophobia (Bobby refers to reader as Jack's beard), smidge of angst, comfort/fluff 🥺, cursing, a little mention of sex so MINORS DNI
Notes: This is my first try at a Jack imagine. Hope you like it ☺️ and please ignore how bad I am at titles
Jack's childhood bedroom looked about as you'd expected.
An electric guitar and amp. A stereo with a collection of rock cd's. Band and car posters plastered on the wall. And, of course, a stack of VHS tapes that you probably didn't want to inspect too closely—he'd been a teenage boy the last time he lived there, after all.
You eventually grew tired of looking around and propped his pillow up so you could sit back against his headboard. His bed was a lot more comfortable than the one in the crappy hotel you'd been sleeping in, mostly because it was Jack's, and that meant safety. It meant home.
It was already pretty late when you first arrived at the Mercer home, so you were having a hard time staying awake to greet your boyfriend. Maybe you should've just waited until the morning, but something told you that you might be needed. That was why you'd driven to Detroit with him in the first place instead of making him go on his own. To be there for him during such a devastating time.
You yawned and decided to rest your eyes for just a few minutes, not hearing the sound of the front door, or Bobby speaking a little too loudly as three of the Mercers entered.
"Seriously, Jackie. How much are you paying her?"
"I'm not paying her anything, Bobby." Like always, his brother was just trying to get under his skin. Sometimes, it really fucking bothered him, but after seeing your car parked out front, he just wanted to find you.
He didn't see you in the living room, and just as he realized where you likely were, Sofi came down the stairs and confirmed it. "She's waiting in your room."
"Thanks." Jack took the steps two at a time, passing Sofi as she eagerly went to meet Angel at the bottom of the stairs.
"Hey, she better not think she's staying here! We don't need another La Vida Loca!" Bobby called after Jack, which he ignored, chuckling as Sofi started cursing at the oldest Mercer in Spanish.
Jack opened his bedroom door, cracking a small smile the instant he noticed you dozing off on his bed. He'd had half a mind to have Jerry drop him off at your hotel, but it was late enough that he assumed you were already sound asleep. Now that he knew you weren't even there, he was glad he hadn't gone anyway because he wouldn't have heard the end of it from Bobby.
Your eyes fluttered open as Jack slipped off his leather jacket, tossing it on the chair while kicking off his boots. "Hi," you greeted with a relieved smile.
"Hey, gorgeous," he replied as he climbed into the bed with you.
Even though you'd only been together for about two and a half years, you could read Jack very well. It was clear when he was upset or thinking of painful things, showing right there in his eyes. At that moment, you saw not just the sadness and grief of the last several days, but something else that disturbed him.
You shimmied down the bed a bit and opened your arms, allowing him to practically lay on top of you and rest his head on your chest. "What happened, baby?" You gently embraced him, resting a hand at the nape of his neck.
Jack took a moment to relax in your arms, letting out a sigh as you began to run your fingers through his hair. It had taken some time and a lot of built trust for him to be fully comfortable with that kind of intimacy, and once that happened, he could never get enough. After everything that happened that day, he really fucking needed it.
"I–" He sniffled, blinking back the tears that stung at his eyes. "I saw the security footage. I saw my mom..."
"Oh..." Your heart clenched as you realized what he meant. "I'm so sorry you had to see that, Jack."
"We found the guys that killed her," he said quietly, his fingers toying with the fabric of your shirt. "Angel and Bobby took care of it, but I...I couldn't handle it. I'd never watched anyone die like that." Jack had done some dumbass shit as a kid, but he'd never gotten into some of the more extreme things his brothers—particularly Bobby—did. Not until his mom was taken from him.
The fact that he and his brothers had found and killed their mom's murderers was not a surprise to you. Jack already told you that was the plan, and he'd shared enough about his brothers in the past for you to know he wasn't just talking. While killing was wrong, you had nothing against them getting revenge for Evelyn as long as Jack still came home to you in the end.
"But it's done now, right? You don't have to see that again."
"Nah, it's not over yet. Someone hired them to kill her."
Your hand stopped moving. "What?" Random robbery to contract killing? A pit formed in your stomach at the thought of him getting mixed up with something like that. "Who would want to kill your mom? She was amazing." You'd only ever talked to Evelyn on the phone, but between the lovely conversations and everything Jack ever told you about her, you knew she was a special woman.
"We don't know yet. I'll have to stay a couple more days..." Though it was important to find the truth and get justice, part of him really just wanted to be back home in your little shared apartment. He wanted things to be back to normal—as normal as they could be without Evelyn Mercer in the world.
"I'll add a few days to my hotel," you said as your fingers resumed playing with his hair. The idea of an extended stay didn't bother you at all. You knew he wasn't leaving Detroit until his mom was avenged.
"You should check out and stay here with me." He looked up at you with those soft blue eyes, and you already knew you'd be doing just that with very little convincing. Jack was hard to resist. "I miss you."
"It's not like I'm back in New York." Even though you laughed, you understood exactly what he meant. The cold Michigan nights really made you appreciate sleeping with him. "I miss you, too, but I don't want to intrude on you and your family."
"You're not intruding. You're my family, too," he assured you with a smile, which you returned as you stroked his cheek. "Besides, Angel's busy with Sofi, and Bobby's gonna be annoyed by someone or something no matter what."
You'd only met his oldest brother very briefly, but based on Jack's warnings and Sofi's rant about him when she let you in the house, you didn't doubt that he was a prickly as they come.
Jack watched expectantly, hoping he wouldn't have to spend another night alone. He had a hard time getting rest without you already, but it got worse after finding out his mom died. And he couldn't help the worry that whoever he and his brothers were after could end up targeting those close to them. That you could be hurt or killed just for being in town and being his girl. You'd probably be safer at the Mercer home.
"Okay, I'll check out in the morning."
He let out the breath he'd been holding and moved up your body to place a kiss on your lips. As he pulled back, you gazed up at him with the sweetest eyes he'd ever seen, and he thought for the millionth time how lucky he was to meet you. That you'd happened to end up at one of his shows three years ago was nothing short of a fucking miracle. "I love you."
"Love you, too," you said back without hesitation.
Underneath the rock and roll look, Jack was soft and sweet. You had seen tiny hints of it when you first talked outside of the bar his band had just played in, and he slowly let you in to see the rest. He respected and cared for you in a way that no other guy ever had, he made you feel safe and loved. Knowing you did the same for him after everything he'd been through meant the world.
When he laid back down beside you and pulled the blanket up over your bodies, you quickly turned on your side and snuggled right up to him.
Jack kissed the top of your head and slowly rubbed his hand up and down your back, and that was the last thing you remembered before finally drifting off.
Waking up was not quite as peaceful as falling asleep had been. A loud banging on the door shocked you both awake just in time to hear, "Rise and shine, Princess! We got shit to do today!"
Jack groaned and buried his face in your chest again. Even with Bobby's interruption, he really didn't want to move. After all, that was his second favorite spot to put his face. You were just about as eager to get up as he was, realizing just how much you'd needed this the last few days.
"What a charming wake up call," you said with a laugh, your voice rough from sleep. Considering how he'd referred to you as Jack's beard the first time you met, and at their own mother's funeral no less, a lack of tact seemed to be Bobby's thing.
"You get used to it," he mumbled into your t-shirt. "Unless you changed your mind about staying..."
"Nope." You reluctantly threw the blanket off and untangled yourself from him, taking a glance at your watch. "We've got plenty of time for breakfast, but I do need to be at the hotel by 9:30 to get my things."
Once you stretched and finally got out of bed, Jack sat up and scrubbed his hand over his face, his hair sticking up even more than usual. You went over to his jacket to fish his zippo and the pack of cigarettes out of the pocket and toss them over to him.
"Thanks," Jack said before placing a cigarette between his lips and lighting it up. He took a drag and watched amused as you slipped your shoes on and fixed yourself up a bit because, unlike him, you had a problem with looking like you'd just rolled out of bed.
Satisfied, you leaned down and tenderly cupped his jaw so you could press a kiss to his forehead. "See you downstairs, baby."
Jack's cheeks heated up at the sweet affection, and he blew out a cloud of smoke as you walked away with a sway of your hips.
Yeah, he was lucky as hell.
I hope you don't mind if I put in another request(your writing is truly AMAZING!)!
May I request Garrett finding his mate after a natural disaster, she's injured badly enough she needs to be changed and afterwards she has the ability to control whatever element caused the natural disaster(ex. volcano/wildfire=fire, tornado=air, tsunami/flood=water, earthqake=earth). She'd still be a little hesitant at using her abilities after having experienced first hand what damage they can cause.
Apologies for the wait, and thank you for another incredibly fun request! I’m so happy you liked the other one, and I hope this one lives up to your expectations as well. ❤️ Enjoy!
The pungent scent of smoke clung to the wind. It was thick and suffocating. Embers still smouldered in the wreckage below, casting an eerie red glow against the night. Garrett stood at the edge of the devastation, surveying the ruin with narrowed eyes. The wildfire had raged mercilessly, reducing entire homes to charred skeletons and trees to blackened husks. The air was saturated with death. And yet, beneath that overwhelming scent of destruction, something else called to him. Something alive. A heartbeat—faint and struggling. Garrett answered the call and jumped into motion, weaving through the wreckage with practised ease. He followed the sound, the undeniable pull deep in his chest urging him forward. Then he saw her. She lay trapped beneath a collapsed beam, her body broken, blood soaking into the scorched earth. Her breathing was shallow, each exhale rattling with pain. Burns marred her skin, her clothes torn and singed. But none of that mattered. She was clinging to life, but just barely. He needed to act fast. A vicious snarl built in his throat, the mere thought of losing her sending his instincts into a frenzy. He fell to his knees beside her, hands hovering over her frail form, unsure if moving her would do more harm than good. Blood pooled around her, the scent thick in the air, but Garrett didn’t waver. He pushed aside his vampiric instincts as if nothing mattered more than her. She was his only focus. Her eyes finally fluttered open, barely focusing, as if she felt his presence. “You’re real,” she whispered, voice rasping like wind through ashes. Garrett swallowed hard. “Yeah, sweetheart. I’m real.” A weak smile ghosted her lips. “Shame… I was hoping… hallucination. Would be less embarrassing.” Even in agony, she found humour. A slow grin tugged at the corner of his mouth. “Sorry to disappoint.” Her breath hitched, and her body seized with pain. He knew then that there was no saving her. Not as she was. Her injuries were too severe, her human body too fragile. His jaw clenched. “I can help you,” he said, voice low, urgent. “But you have to trust me.” She blinked sluggishly, already fading. “Dying doesn’t… seem very helpful.” He leaned closer, his voice soft, almost coaxing. “You don’t have to die.” Realization flickered in her gaze. A breath of silence stretched between them before she gave the smallest nod. That was all he needed. With a low growl, he sank his teeth into her wrist.
—
The change burned like the wildfire that nearly killed her. Agony consumed every nerve, fire igniting in her veins. Time lost meaning as minutes, hours and days blurred together in a relentless inferno. Somewhere in the haze, she felt a comforting presence. A steady voice. A hand brushing against hers, grounding her. Then, at last silence. When she opened her eyes, the world was different. It was sharper and brighter. The night sky stretched above her, endless and clear. Every ember, every crackling flame still burning in the wreckage below was unbearably vivid. The scent of smoke, earth and him flooded her senses. Hunger coiled in her stomach, but it wasn’t unbearable. It was controlled. She sat up, faster than she thought possible, and turned to face him. Garrett. His red eyes studied her, cautious but amused and more than anything thankful that she was still alive. At least in a sense. “Welcome back, sweetheart.” She exhaled. Her breath was smooth, effortless. The pain was gone and so was the weakness. She felt… powerful. But something else stirred beneath the surface. A flicker of warmth in her palm. There was a whisper in the air. She looked down at her hands, flexing her fingers. An uneasy feeling settled in her chest. Something else was different. Then, without warning, a small fire erupted from her fingertips. Panic surged through her as she jerked away, the flames flickering out as quickly as they appeared. Her breath hitched. “What the hell was that?” Garrett’s eyes widened, but his shock quickly shifted into fascination. “Well, that’s new.” She scrambled to her feet. The embers surrounding them pulsed in rhythm, like a steady heartbeat. She could feel it in her very core. The heat, the destruction, the roaring flames, all of it was inside her now. She stumbled backwards. “No. No, this can’t – this isn’t -” Garrett moved swiftly, catching her hands in his. His touch was grounding and solid. "Breathe." She no longer needed to breathe, but she mimicked the motion anyway before meeting his gaze. “I can’t – this isn’t normal. This isn’t supposed to happen.” His lips quirked. “Sweetheart, nothing about us is normal.” A sharp exhale left her. He wasn’t wrong. She forced herself to focus and try to push down the overwhelming fear rising in her throat. “It’s because of the fire,” she whispered. “The wildfire.” Garrett nodded with a thoughtful expression. “Looks like it gave you a parting gift.” A bitter laugh escaped her. “Some gift.” She clenched her fists, trying to stop the slight tremor in her fingers. “I felt it, Garrett. I felt the fire take everything. And now it’s me.” He was quiet for a moment, then he tilted his head. “Do you think the fire wanted to hurt you?” She blinked. “What?” He took a step closer. “Do you think it had a choice? Or was it just… fire?” She swallowed hard. “Fire isn’t good or bad,” he continued. “It just is. It destroys, yeah, but it also warms. It protects. It gives life just as much as it takes.” He let his fingers brush against hers. “And so will you. If you let yourself.” She looked at him, really looked at him. With her newly heightened senses, it felt as though she was seeing him for the first time. He wasn’t afraid of her. Not even a little. And for the first time, she considered that maybe she didn’t have to be afraid either. She took a deep breath out of habit. The embers no longer pulsed wildly around her. The fire inside her wasn’t raging, it felt as though it had been waiting. Garrett smirked. “Told you to trust me.” She huffed, rolling her eyes. “You’re enjoying this, aren’t you?” “A little.” He grinned. “But mostly, I’m just looking forward to what comes next.” As her confidence grew and her nerves settled, the embers around her slowly faded. She turned her gaze to the horizon, where the first light of dawn stretched across the charred landscape.
Everything was different now – her body, her senses, the fire that lived inside her. She would have to learn, to adapt, to figure out what this new existence meant. What did come next? She wasn’t sure. But with Garrett beside her, she was ready to find out.
