Day 6 - Gemling - It looks like it’s time. I tried to draw up so much today but every sketch I did just came out terrible, so I threw this together to at least try and get something down on metaphorical paper. Sorry @jenhedgehog, I’ll try to do a better job next time.  Also Bob is a reference to @annadesu‘s OC, who is just adorable.

Out of your gemling OCs, who's the most powerful? Who has what powers? I was just curious

Bob - Water powers!Percy - Metal powers!Pierre - Both!

Pierre is actually the most powerful, but ironically, the least likely to use them for fighting. She’s very mellow, and doesn’t like confrontation.

@moonstone-coral and @annadesu; I blame you both for pushing me down the Gemling route...with your stupid adorable gems and the human drama that comes from mineral people trying to learn what it means to have biology! *Shakes fist*  In all seriousness; this idea came to mind about the discussion that Peri and Lapis had when discussing maybe incubating another Gem together, with Peri now putting her old Kindergarten training to help out the next one (which explains the twins). I don’t feel It’s really a good page, but I’ve not drawn a comic in some time and rather enjoyed working on a sequence. Still I think the idea could be good fun.  Two things though: Firstly what Lapis is referring to is an idea that I had when subsuming the minerals needed for incubation might actually leave mineral deposits on the host gem, leaving it a little rougher or growing new crystalline forms. It doesn’t always happen, but it can do. I’ll probably showcase it more another time.  And secondly; yes, Bob is wearing a shark onesie. I HAVE NO REGRETS!

And page 2 of the Lapidot comic inspired by @moonstone-coral (aka @moonstone-reblogs) and @annadesu about the gemlings that come after Bob. On this page we have Peridot trying to be her most persuasive. We also see a little of the idea I had about Lapis’ gem having a (temporary) coating of crystalline deposits as a side effect of the incubation process. (I also made Lapis’s physical form a little heavier set as an almost psychosomatic response to the extra weight on the gem; not that Peridot seems to mind.)  I’m not super happy about everything on this page, but given how long things took I’m pretty happy overall. Either way, I hope they like the page.

I know that the gemlings and their parents all love each other, but do the gemlings have a parent they get along with better

Bob is the best behaved and gets along with both very well. Percy is a hellraiser and Peridot kind of encourages her sometimes. Pierre is chill and hangs with Lapis a lot. ;) lol
