it was practically amazing to her that she was keeping some sort of composure. everything about the situation felt uneasy in a variety of ways. all that genesis was thinking was that she needed to survive. she had been certain she could handle herself but that had been before laurent had made himself known. she had to stop herself from wincing at how he repeated her words. the blonde was starting to think that he loved the sound of his own voice.

she gave up on even attempting to eat. instead she propped her chin on her hand and merely sighed," i can't help that i look human considering i am one." she suddenly wished that she knew how to hold her tongue. mostly because she didn't know how safe she truly was given the circumstances. the blonde shifted somewhat, wishing she was alone. at the very least that she could get away from the both of them.

"thank you," she breathed, looking back towards victor. she didn't even care that she wasn't allowed to wander. as long as she had a space to go where she was alone. she almost pouted but forced herself to reach for a few more things. the blonde nearly made a show of it. yet she nearly dropped what was in her hold when she saw the collar and leash being brought out.

the blonde was taken by surprise at the sight but didn't move. instead she watched in slight horror as victor approached. her entire body tensed as he clasped the collar around her neck. her face flushed but she wasn't going to give them the satisfaction," i am, it's been an interesting few days." she went to lift her plate before she found herself being led out by one of the servants. though she noticed how they didn't seem to look at her and instead through her.

bruce's eyebrows raised as she asked to be excused. a delicious dynamic indeed. there was so much tension in the room. so much uncertainty between everyone. it felt as if no one really knew what her purpose was here. not even victor. and victor always knew everything. "a deal to save your father." faux fascination dances on the tone of the male's voice, curiously admiring the idea of victor being so noble to help her dave a family member. "servitude in return for kindness. very chivalrous of you, victor." the male teases. 

"you know, victor tends to offer things that he knows nothing of. there's no doubt he offered dresses that were pricey but not elegant." eyes moving back towards the woman. "i'm sure there are cute outfits we can find for you. i'd hate for our guest to stick out so much. you already look woefully human."

victor looks to her and nods. "you're excused. one of our servants will bring you to your quarters." the words still as gruff and direct as before. "you'll understand that we can't exactly have you roaming the halls just yet." he looks at her, for the first time giving a sense of hostility towards the woman—as if she were a burden more than anything. training a human was always a burden. "take some food with you. you need to eat." 

as the servants walk out, bruce begins to cheer. in their hands are a collar and a leash. victor waves off the leash, not finding it necessary at this moment. "bloddy brilliant. that makes more sense." bruce comments as the women hand victor the leash and the older male takes it.

victor makes his way over to the girl, leting his hans wrap around her neck and clicking the leash. "with this you are bound to me." he tells her. "we'll discuss what that means much later. i'm sure you're tired." he looks to the help again. "take her to her chambers."

Wow! That’s quite a list (and a lot of people to look up in the future lol)! 😮 Well, I’m sure that will be a rather interesting experiment. In light of that…well, let’s see. Day 1, I think my first immediate reaction if I’m to survive this experiment at all would be to run to Mori. He may not be the kindest person in the history of ever, but he is logical and methodical about basically of all his decisions, so maybe if I were to rush over and explain my plight, I can reason with him before I’m captured, killed, or tortured by the others, and convince him that the most logical and optimal course of action would be for all of us to band together and rise up against Senku to escape, instead of harming each other. And maybe he could then convince the others. Or I’ll just be dead/tortured/experimented on cause they won’t listen to reason even if the suggestion is coming from Mori. 😭 Ig we’ll see.

I am seeing a lot of takes on Frankenstein about how seeing the creature as Victor Frankenstein’s son voids literally all other interpretations of the relationship between the creature and Victor. Just because the parent-child parallels are to your preferred interpretation does not mean parallels to The Pygmalion (Victor as artist, creature as sex object), the golem (Victor as master, creature as slave), Genesis/Paradise Lost (Victor as god, creature as Adam or Satan) are not valid and are inherently immoral to analyze the text as.

Like the Pygmalion interpretation is very old and aside from a few jokes on it it’s boring because it’s been done to death. I’m not sure if you’re familiar with the Rocky Horror Picture Show? Or am I just too old now, and nobody knows about that?

The passages about trying to build the creature as specifically beautiful have long been interpreted as sexual — and it’s weird honestly to be interpreting this as incestuous/pedophilic because the creature is built out of unrelated, found cadavers, has no mind yet, and Victor does not even know that his mind will be childlike for any period of time. Victor is essentially making a sculpture at that point, and the idea that it’s somehow pedophilic/incestuous to find a sculpture of an unrelated 8 ft tall adult man sexy, or to deliberately try to build one as sexually appealing is bizarre. Any arguments that Victor somehow “should have known” the creature would have a childish mind or to conceive of himself as “father” while building him fall flat because 1) Victor lacks foresight in everything he does, that’s his major character flaw 2) in popular depictions he’s literally salvaging whole body parts, so he’s using adult brains from adults who already had families unrelated to him to build the creature. Consent issues here abound with bringing a specific person, essentially, or an amalgamation of several people, back to life without consent, especially in a different body, but in contrast these are never brought up 3) Victor is doing something that has never been done before so he has no idea what would happen.

Also weird to me how the same people who keep wanting us to take Victor Frankenstein as literal father of the creature and therefore find any proposed sexualization of the creature by him disgusting, tend to not do the same of the creature’s demands for a female companion. These demands are absolutely sexual, and if Victor is his literal father, the female creature would be his literal sister — and his final inspiration for demanding this was looking at the woman pictured in the locket around William’s neck, his literal grandmother.

I personally find the building of the creature more interesting as seen as embodiment fantasy more, or at least more fertile ground for new interpretations, in part because it’s hard to top the Rocky Horror Picture Show. I also find the lack of Genesis/Paradise Lost interpretations here weird considering those parallels are literally drawn in the text. The interpretation of master/slave is also something that’s literally in the text, and slavery abolition was something that was literally ongoing in the British empire at the time the book was written, yet I’ve only seen this parallel brought up in more academic papers. Even if it doesn’t seem relevant to us playing with blorbos today I do think it’s relevant to understanding the text. Parent-child relationship between Victor and the creature is absolutely a valid textual interpretation and the one in vogue right now, probably because of the popularity of intergenerational trauma stories today, but it’s absolutely not the only “correct” interpretation.

okay, so. i’m far more interested in the reality of being weak than the power fantasy of being, well, powerful. so with that said re: cloud vs other powerful beings in the game & why i think he is not powerful ft. genesis rhapsodos:

i feel like. cloud got no real training on the level he has to keep up at. he didn't get into SOLDIER bc he couldn't handle the mako - he got experimented on & pumped full of mako = terrible mako poisoning, which i'd personally headcanon would continue to weaken him. he's more powerful than regular people, but his body isn't meant to keep up with this. obv he's mentally fucked to the point it shows physically, but i feel like maybe the mako just continues to fuck him up physically as well.

i feel like cloud's power is that he teams up with people. genesis on the other hand was born a hybrid of jenova cells / human, stabilised by 'the goddess' ( which i'd say is permanent purely bc why tf would you call it a goddess if it's not gonna pull smth pivotal ), trained fully & extensively by SHINRA, survived an actual war, trained with sephiroth ( not that he can keep up when seph doesn't tone it down, but rather seph's skill & technique are smth gen learned to keep up with at a lower setting so he's got all that /skill/ ), [ dunno what happened to him in deepground ], &...

power is not enough.

genesis has so much skill & experience under his belt, & his body's been made suitable to him. he's never been sickly.

i think it's basic to keep the protag as the most powerful, but that cloud is far more interesting as what i'd like to consider him to be: a weak thing dumped in the deepest end & fucked with until he had to keep up with shit no-one can keep up with, & he /survived/. he didn't win exactly...he's a survivor.

it was an utter relief for her to be allowed to leave the room. part of her still couldn't wrap her mind around her situation. though she was confused by the feeling of a collar around her slender neck. of course she knew that she was in over her head. all that she was attempting to do was survive. upon being taken she had thought that she was going to be tortured. instead she found herself at a table being told to eat while listening to banter.

the chambers that she were taken too were comfortable. she found herself being left alone. she found herself sitting at a small table and allowing herself to eat. her mind was racing but she was doing her best to remain calm. she managed to force most of it down before she took another look around. there was the fleeting thought that she could try to escape. something told her that even if she did manage to slip away that victor or even bruce would come find her.

instead she found herself peering out the doors to see if a servant was nearby. there was, a maid who was helpful when she asked if she could take a bath. she wanted to wash the grime and god knows what else off her. the maid led her back into the chambers and was showing her the tub. it was filled with oils and had flower petals which confused her.

she didn't understand why she was being treated so kindly when she was a captive. the water was perfect as she sunk down into it. the blonde had no idea how long she soaked due to dozing off. the maid from before had come to check on her and soon she was being helped into the bed. she was passed out within minutes due to how exhausted she was feeling.

hours passed before she roused due to the knock on the door. the blonde was going to climb to her feet and had barely crossed the room when the door opened. her eyes widened when she realized that it was bruce. she instantly froze when he started to speak. she couldn't help but roll her eyes when she realized what it was that he wanted from her," i don't know why i'm here and frankly i don't get why you even care."

she was confused by them both but she didn't think she could say that. however he had woken her up out of a dead sleep. the past few days were exhausting. her head tilted as he looked at her collar and then back up at her," i don't know why but i think you would need to ask him." she doubted that anything that she said mattered given everything," don't you have something else to keep your attention?"

bruce chuckles at the sight of a COLLAR. he scoffs to show surprise. victor was the last person he'd expect to have a PET. it wasn't that the elder wasn't dominant. he wasn't even denying that it's obvious that victor loved some sexual deviance. but a pet? now that was interesting. the younger takes a bite of his food and watches carefully as the girl is escorted out. he begins to speak to the elder, though the words are washed behind the thick walls of the castle. various words slip through the cracks. something about TRAINS and BALLS. 

the two finish their meals in private, after the GUEST leaves. victor still demanded on calling her that, despite bruce's accusations that victor has CLAIMED a human pet already. victor makes his way to his chamber for a deep sleep. the human world was never the easiest to travel back from and he needed his strength. bruce, on the other hand, had plenty of energy. other than morning sparring, the male rarely had any activity. 

he liked strolling through town some nights, wandering and hollering at some of the beautiful succubuses that lived among the other demons. but tonight it felt like demon women wouldn't fix the curious ITCH that he could feel tingling under his skin. instead he decides to stay within the confines of the castle. 

after hours of rest, the male walks through the halls, finally making it to the chambers that the girl is given. it's the GUEST room, only furthering victor's stance on her title while also validating bruce's theory that this isn't a PERMANENT placement. he balls his strong hands into a fist and knocks on the door, but only waits a moment before entering; uncaring if she allows him to enter or not.

the door slides open and the confident male walks in to see her. "so, GENISIS," he starts, "i think we're BOTH very confused as to your purpose here, but i think if we put our heads together, we'll be able to figure out why victor would want you as a PET." bruce hums. "i've never seen him take much interest in human pets but it looks like you've swayed our precious cerberus." the joke rolls off his tongue, loving to call victor any of the VICIOUS beasts that they've slain. 

bruce isn't even sure she KNOWS what the demon world does with human pets. the kind of devotion that a pet needs to have isn't something that is done unwillingly. that fact is likely the reason victor is adamant on making her time here COMFORTABLE. does she know of the promise a pet has to their master? is she aware of the life she will have to lead now that victor OWNS her SOUL? bruce thinks on this as his bright eyes look down at the collar, then up into her eyes. 

"what makes YOU so special?"

the tension could have very easily been cut with a knife. genesis truly didn't understand the purpose of her being there. the one thing that she did know was that she was still alive. she was slowly forcing herself to take small bites of the things that had been put on her plate for her. mostly because she needed to do something with her hands to distract herself.

she was almost taken by surprise at how much he was focusing on her. though she wasn't going to let him think that she was going to shy away. that was why she merely made sure to maintain eye contact. she forced herself to take a sip of her wine," laurent," she paused," has anyone ever had the pleasure of telling you that you seem absolutely exhausting?"

the blonde nearly squirmed as she realized how intense his gaze was. the fact that he was focusing on her cleavage wasn't something that went unnoticed. she had always been told she was beautiful but that didn't mean that she believed it. she nearly choked at his next question because it was unexpected. quickly the goblet in her grasp was set down. already she knew that she didn't want to answer him. thankfully she was saved from doing that by him going on a tangent.

"he offered," she quipped, not knowing why she felt the need to stick up for victor," but i told him no." after all she had been stubborn ever since her arrival. she reached to adjust the skirt of her dress. only to force herself to keep taking small bites, realizing the attention was back on her," i made a deal to save my father," she paused," now may i please be excused?" the question was directed at victor.

victor refuses to respond to her comment on what guests can and cannot do. instead he dines on the human food, trying his best not to get up and walk away. it's been some years since he's actually sat with bruce for a meal. most of the time, you'd find victor up in his study while bruce entertained in the dining hall with the various warriors of the castle or other demon lords and mistresses from other kingdoms. the demon realm was vast and larger than any mortal could fathom. it's why not many knew of it in the first place. 

"laurent." bruce responds, leaning a little closer and giving the girl special attention. "bruce laurent. but i'm not so sure we're on a first name basis quite yet, genisis. so laurent will do." another bite of the leg. it looked like it would take hours before he tore through the whole thing. then again, eating for them was more of a luxury. it was necessary for health, but not to the extent that any human needed it for. his eyes scan her. not too grotesquely, but he does let his eyes linger on her cleavage before moving back to her face. 

the tension and silence between the three was blanketed by the various expressions that bruce gave. always so curious and observant when he saw a new face. a face brought in by victor, no less. "so tell me, genesis," he speaks with an emphasis to her name, while glancing at victor as if to say 'see, i'm playing nice'. "what did you do to get here in our lovely home? deal with the devil? bought a demonic artifact from a strange old lady? as much as i'd like to think victor went out and captured you, i haven't actually seen this man leave the castle walls in almost a century. then when he did, he left for a number of days."

victor watches carefully now. as if bruce was going to divulge too much information. "then he waltzes back in with a pretty girl with less than pretty clothes." bruce continues his comment on her clothing. "i mean honestly, bruce, couldn't you have sif whip her up some elagant clothing? she's a captive but you don't need to leave her dressed like one." the tangent is reeled back in with dark and pointed gazes from bruce's elegantly rich blue eyes as he looks at the woman. "so what did you do to get yourself in our company?"

there was so much tension at the table that she wasn't entirely sure what to make of it. her lips parted to snap back at the younger of the two but it seemed that victor had beat her to it. she forced herself to reach for the pitcher of wine to pour a small glass for herself. she knew that she wanted to keep her wits about her but she also wanted to calm her nerves.

though she was confused by the fact that she was being referred to as a guest. it took her by surprise but she forced herself to take a sip from her cup," guests can usually leave whenever they want." the blonde glanced around before she was going to begin to take a few small bites from the plate," i suppose you're right." even if she was feeling all sorts of conflicting emotions she had to admit that the food was good. nothing seemed to be overcooked or overly seasoned.

genesis nearly gasped as she saw the rather large animal leg that looked like it could belong to a chicken. granted it was three times the size and yet he was tearing into it. she shook her head a bit, her nose crinkling," thank you," she breathed, glancing towards victor before looking back towards the younger one," and i assume you have a name?"

"my manner's are just fine, slave." bruce taunts before being interrupted by victor's hand slamming onto the table.

victor gives a knowing glance to the younger of the two males. "no." his words are clear and unwavering, "that's not what you are." he responds to the girl, but keeps his eyes on the other male. it's as if to remind the younger that he still holds control. "you're a guest." he adds, going back to his food. as he takes a bite, he finds the taste interesting. mortal food always had something else hindering it down. it's as if the idea of requiring nutrients and being subject to evolution removed what really mattered: taste. "and it matters that you're fed. humans need to eat."

bruce scoffs as he watches victor eat the food. "guest. ha! i don't think even she would believe that." the demon smiles at the girl, playing nice for victor. a servant shuffles out with a large leg of meat. it's similar to a chicken leg, but far too large for any earth animal. bruce happily takes the leg and begins eating it like a viking. "so, does our guest have a name or shall i keep calling you guest?"

"her name is genesis." victor answers for her. "and you will treat her with respect and call her by her name."

"i didn't think it mattered," mumbled genesis, unsure if she should even keep speaking. though she was confused when she realized he was moving. he was picking up the empty plate that had been placed in front of her. her eyes followed his movement as he began to pile quite a bit of food onto it. part of her wasn't sure if he thought her stomach was bottomless or he just didn't know what she would eat. all that she did was sigh when he placed it back in front of her. her movement was slow but she reached to pick up a roll.

she froze when she heard the other refer to her as a slave. that caused her to look towards the older looking one of the two," is that what i am?" truly she had never felt so lost or in over her head. if that was all that she was, why bother trying to feed her? she forced herself to rip a piece of the roll off and popped it into her mouth. she did her best to ignore the woman who was called forward. the blonde rolled her eyes before she could stop herself," seems to me like you aren't capable of impressing anyone with those manners of yours."

"you haven't eaten in days." victor speaking matter-of-factly. the food is placed before them and he slowly rises to grab her plate, slowly adding food onto it for her. earth food was always so confusing. they were so often bogged down by physical and cutlural borders, causing such a variety of cuisines. the food he selected were so vast and juxtaposing, though he couldn't tell. once the food is placed on the plate, he slides it back to her and begins grabbing his own food. victor does his best to ignore bruce's laughter from across the table.

the more regal, of the two demons, chuckles and shakes his head. "serving the slave? my how the mighty have fallen." bruce's sharp eyes scan the food and gives a faux gag as he shakes his head. "i cannot stomach this mortal food. ugh." leaning back in his chair and quickly pouring out some wine for himself. "i will stomach the mortal wine though." a quick snap and another demon woman floats over to the male, bowing to him as he looks at her. "get me some real food. i'm not as insistant to impress those who are under me, as conway is." another venemous look towards the human, before smiling politely to victor.

no matter how many times she had pinched herself she still hadn't woken. of course deep down genesis knew that it wasn't some nightmare. that it was in fact her reality and she was trapped. the blonde had never felt so out of place. she found herself sitting at a table that was being filled with far too much food. servants were coming and going and the smell made her stomach knot up. she nearly jumped when she realized that he had spoken. the man or whatever he was that had snatched her. all because she had made a plea to save her father who had been dying. never did she think it would land her here. the sound of his growl made her jump but she didn't reach out to put anything on the plate before her," i'm not hungry."

the blonde's head snapped to the side the moment that she realized someone else had entered. part of her wanted to hide, to run but she knew it was pointless. her eye brows arched up when she realized the man who had entered was referring to her as a pet. she froze upon realizing that he had finally noticed her. she couldn't help but squirm in her seat as he seemed to take a good look at her," charming, aren't you?" she maybe should have kept her mouth shut. after all she had no idea what they intended on doing with her. she had been keeping to herself ever since her arrival. all she had on was the clothes that she had been wearing that fateful day. a white eyelet lace wrap dress that had to be tied at the waist with a belt. her shoes were long gone and she had not slept since her arrival.

plot: fantasy au ! lowkey just started reading a court of thorns and roses and want a plot based on that ( but make it poly ) . doesn't have to be exact , but victor captures ym and takes them to his mansion/castle . for any reason u choose , she's now fated to live out her days in this new place but is given a home by victor and bruce . i'm just gonna say they're demons so i'm not completely ripping off the book lol up to u if u wanna go full fantasy but im also down for ym to be from the modern era.

food was spread out on the table. with a wild display of wealth and abundance, victor opted to have the servants cook food from every corner of the earth—unsure of what type of food this particular human would want. his stoicism shines against the bright warmth of the nearby hearth. one by one, servants pour in bringing golden plates and goblets. victor's eyes barely look at his captive, since the journey from the land of the humans has caused him fatigue. his clothes were still clean, despite a long journey through the eye of the universe. his clean grey tunic sat beneath demonic steel armor—the only armor that can keep him safe from the fatality of human wepons. "eat." his voice nothing more than a low growl. "you haven't eaten in days."

the large table is set for three, though the third guest doesn't enter until he's fashionably late. servants begin shuffling out of the room and leave the two in silence. the quiet doesn't last for long before the doors swing open and the pompous arrogance can be smelled off the royal that enters. bruce dons a luxurious leaver outfit, lined with the nicest of white threads to accent the rough warrior clothing. "conway." the prince speaks, calling victor by his nickname. "i heard the pet is here. how is she—" his tall figure pauses when he sees the girl. "oh." a dissaproving tone mixed with a judemental look. "victor... you didn't... dress her? did you?" he finally takes his seat across victor and observes the woman. "when i heard we were finally recieving a guest, i honestly imagined her prettier. though i bet if you'd wear a nicer dress than you'd look lovely, sweetheart."
