“I had no idea when I sent my fictional Hirut to war that my great-grandmother, Getey, preceded her: flesh and bone, blood and pride, paving the path for my imagination. I did not realize, when crafting Hirut’s story about losing possession of her father’s gun, that my relative Getey had experienced something similar. My great-grandmother’s story was a discovery made during a casual conversation with my mother, one of those moments when she stopped me as I was telling her about one of my photographs to say, But don’t you know about Getey, your great-grandmother? Don’t you remember?”

A/n: 16 of 31 So this is a lot longer than I planned it to be. Like, a lot. But it’s Cassian Andor and I love him to death so I don’t mind at all.
Warnings: None I think
Word Count: 2,991
Summary: Cassian and (Y/n) are sent on a mission to check out a rebel base on an always winter planet. Some things go awry and feelings are divulged.
Cassian Andor, rebel intelligence officer, was going to find whoever decided to place a rebel base on Fest and shoot them multiple times with his blaster. That is if he doesn’t lose his fingers to frostbite first. He and another officer had been tasked with flying out to this deserted planet and finding out if there were any rebels left on or around the area. The planet did have a bit of an Imperial presence and they couldn’t afford to loose any more members.
Wrapped up in too many layers to count, Cassian was trudging through the snow and ice towards the hidden base. Behind him was officer (Y/l/n), another member of rebel intelligence who most people just called (Y/n). Cassian was the only person who didn’t though. Something about ‘not getting attached to people since you never know when they are going to be gone.’ So in return she never called him anything but Andor. She had noticed that it seemed to bother him that she never used his first name, but she could never figure out why.
The both of them were freezing down to their bones despite the multiple layers they wore. “Who in their right mind puts a base on a planet like this?” (Y/n) huffed out. “Especially one with an Imperial presence. This is just insane, whose idea was this?”
Cassian looked behind over his shoulder at his fellow officer. “Weren’t you one of the officers on the team that made a decision for a new base location?” (Y/n)’s lips pursed and eyebrows furrowed, scrunching up her facial features. She was a part of a team that consisted of some higher ups and other intelligence officers and that team did have quite a say in where the rebellion placed new bases.
They kept walking in silence for a few minutes before she responded. “I voted against this damn planet. I hate the cold...” She pulled her hood down farther down her face, only moving it a few inches. Cassian scoffed and they fell back into silence. They plodded through the snow for what felt like hours until they came to a building with a small, but very recognizable insignia. The rebel insignia was on the side of the building, however not to far away was a battalion of Imperial troops.
“Shit!” Cassian hissed out. “They found it.” The base was seemingly well hidden when first placed. The top entrance was pressed up against a rocky mountain side that was often covered in snow, but apparently they didn’t consider the Imperial presence on the planet would change the climate and effect how much snow would fall. Cassian pulled out his blaster and hid behind a nearby tree. (Y/n) ducked down and did the same.
“Andor, there’s no way we can take them on.” They both looked out at the troops that were marching around the perimeter, weapons at the ready. “There are two of us and at least four hundred of them.” She glanced at the door to the compound that looked ridden with blaster fire. “And it looks like we won’t have any reinforcements to call on.” She grimaced.
At that moment Cassian looked up at the tree he was hiding behind. He holstered his blaster and carefully grabbed a low lying branch. “Did you ever climb trees as a kid?” Before she could even respond he was swiftly scaling up the tree. (Y/n) looked at him, refraining from shouting out.
She harshly whispered to him over their comm set. “Andor are you insane!? They are going to see you.” She spared a glance towards the troops. Their backs were to the trees for the moment. They must think that the rebels were secluded and didn’t have the ability to call for reinforcements before they slaughtered them.
All of them sudden Cassian and (Y/n) heard screams, not of pain and despair, but of defiance. (Y/n) couldn’t see where it was coming from, but from his position in the tree, Cassian could see Getei, the leader of the base. The zabrak was being dragged through the snow, kicking and screaming to the front line of the troops. They were kicking out, trying to take down any Imperial soldier on their way. Through the wind Cassian and (Y/n) could hear them shouting at the soldiers as they were dragged past. “You’re murders! All of you! Genociding bastards!” The soldiers finally dropped them at the front of the line in front of the commanding officer, their blaster primed and ready to shoot.
“Any last words, rebel scum?” The officer had their blaster pointing at the center of Getei’s forehead, finger on the trigger.
Getei looked up at the officer, steely defiance in their eyes. “The rebellion will live without me.”
The officer looked down and scoffed. “So be it.” As they made the movement to pull the trigger, they were struck down by blaster fire. (Y/n) whipped their head away from the scene and directed her gaze up to Cassian. He looked down at her, hands raised in a defensive position. If he didn’t shoot, then who did? More blaster fire was starting to come down on the Imperial troops from seemingly everywhere. Tree tops, snow banks, rock formations, everywhere!
Cassian and (Y/n) gave a silent cheer as they saw the rebels fighting back despite being outnumbered. Getei had been joined by a few others and they were all fighting against the Imperial soldiers. (Y/n) gestured for Cassian to climb down so that they could join the fight. He started to move down the tree, eager to join. As he was scampering down, a stray shot hit the branch he was holding onto, severing it from the tree.
(Y/n) saw him fall from the tree. “Andor!” He fell, hitting a few branches along the way. Once he hit the ground (Y/n) rushed to his side. He was lying unconscious in the snow, a large cut across his forehead. “Shit, shit, shit!” She muttered to herself as she pressed a gloved hand to the cut. With her other hand she reached inside her coat and ripped off a large swatch of fabric. She wrapped it snuggly around his head and started to bring him to his feet so that they could get out of there before they were seen.
“Over there!” There went that idea. A small group of Imperial soldiers had spotted them and started running towards them. (Y/n) hoisted Cassian over her shoulder, the adrenaline of the situation helping her lift him, and started running. She used to be stationed on this planet when she was the head of an operation years ago. She knew the perfect hiding place. There was a cave not to far from here, but she needed to throw these soldiers off their trail.
As she was running from the soldiers she heard the rush of a river. Perfect! She could use the river to break the trail and get them off of their trail. Cassian still hadn’t woken up and (Y/n) could feel the adrenaline wearing off. She pushed through and finally made it to the river. It was deep enough to hide her footprints and the bank seemed to stay the same height downstream. She stepped in, the freezing water quickly seeping through her boots, and trudged downstream as quickly as possible. (Y/n) walked until she couldn’t hear the Imperials that were following them. Looking around for any signs of other life, she stepped out of the river and onto the snowy bank. Cassian was still out cold.
“Only a bit longer. Just a few more minutes of walking and I can make sure you’re...” She muttered quietly to herself. If Cassian was still out, he had to have had a pretty nasty concussion. Either that or, well... (Y/n) would rather not think about the other option.
Everybody back at the base had a betting pool going. The bet was started after Cassian and (Y/n) first met each other in the training room and ended up sparring with each other. They seemed even matched with each other. His tactics against her brute force, it was quite a spectacle. They fought for what felt like hours until she finally got the upperhand and pinned him to the ground. Everybody in the training room stopped what they were doing when they heard his back hit the floor. Cassian hadn’t been beaten by anybody in a sparring match before. After that, people noticed that he acted more reserved around her. He would only call her by her last name, never sparred with her again, and, the action that made the betting pool start, he avoided going on missions with her at any cost. Cassian never turned down a mission. Even if it was with a person he didn’t necessarily like.
It was obvious to basically everybody that Cassian had feelings for (Y/n). Especially when he would do whatever it took to keep K2-SO from speaking in front of her. The blasted droid was known for spitting out whatever came into its head. The betting pool kept growing over the years, hitting large swells of growth whenever it was announced that the two of them were going on a mission. With this latest mission, the pool grew three times in size. Cassian and (Y/n) were obviously pinning over each other, but were oblivious to the other’s feelings, and were going to be sent to a planet covered in snow for at least two weeks. Something was bound to happen to let feelings slip out. Well, they weren’t wrong.
After a few more minutes of walking, they finally reached cave. She gently laid Cassian down on the floor and then started talking to herself to fill the silence. “Ok, we need a fire going. I’ll be right back.” She quickly ducked out and snapped off a few low-lying branches from some nearby trees. Collecting a good armful, she made her way back into the cave and quickly set up a firepit. Soon a fire was crackling with life, flooding the cave with warmth and light. (Y/n) took off a few layers and left her shoes and socks to dry off. Pulling some medical supplies out of the small bag she carried, she made her way over to Cassian and started to patch him up.
“I-I need you to be okay.” Her voice held a slight tremor to it as she fumbled with the kolto pack. “I can’t... I can’t lose you.” She got the kolto pack applied to his forehead despite her shaking hands. “If you can hear me, I want you to know that...” She struggled to find the words. What words can be used to tell somebody who actively avoids you that you care for them deeply? Maybe even love them? “I want you to know that I care about you. I really do. And I can’t picture a rebellion without you in it.” Tears started to form in her eyes. “I can’t picture a world without you in it Cassian. Please wake up...”
At the sound of his name, Cassian let out a low grown. “(Y/n)...” He slurred her name out, hand slightly reaching out towards where her voice came from. Her hand shot out to grab his, not even noticing that he muttered her first name as she begged him to open his eyes, to talk to her, anything. His eyes fluttered underneath his eyelids as he tried to open his eyes, (Y/n) muttering his name all the while.
“Cassian come on, I know you can make it through this.” His eyebrows furrowed slightly as he slowly opened his eyes and looked around the cave. He almost sat upright, adrenaline pumping through his veins, but (Y/n) place a hand on his chest and gently pushed him back down. “Easy there. I’m pretty sure you got a concussion from that nasty fall.” She decided to ask him a few simple questions, standard procedure. “Could you tell me your name and where you are?”
He looked at her for a moment, confused, then responded, his speech slightly slurred “My name is Cassian Andor. This is the planet Fest.” He didn’t stop there. “You are officer (Y/n) (Y/l/n) of rebel intelligence, hate this planet from being stationed here before, and just called me by my first name for the first time in years.” He gently propped himself up on his elbows, one hand gingerly touching the cut on his forehead and he hissed in pain.
“You, uh, you hit quite a few branches on your fall Andor.” (Y/n) tried deflecting his last statement. She had no idea that Cassian had been longing to hear his name fall from her lips.
He looked up at her, noticing that she switched back to using his last name. He was slightly pained by it and it showed in his eyes. Cassian decided to drop it for the moment, sensing he wouldn’t get very far in a conversation about it if he pushed on. The both of them sat there for a few moments in awkward silence, only the crackling of the fire and howling of the wind providing noise. It was a while before he broke the silence. “So,” he cleared his throat, “what happened? Did we win?”
(Y/n) looked up from the fire. “I actually don’t know. Not too soon after you fell, a few soldiers started to chase after us. I threw them off of our trail and,” she shrugged her shoulders, “here we are.” The fire beside her was roaring, but she started to shiver. She had taken off a layer or two to provide more insulation against the cold cave floor for Cassian, even though they both were warned to not take off any layers due to Fest’s random bilzards. (Y/n) couldn’t care any less. If suffering through a bit of cold meant that Cassian would be warmer, so be it.
Her shivering didn’t go unnoticed by Cassian. He saw that she was missing a few layers and then looked down beneath him to see a few of her coats acting as a blanket. He looked at her once more, shaking like a leaf in a windstorm, then carefully removed her coats from underneath him and draped them on her shoulders. Her head snapped back towards him. “You looked like you needed these back.” She muttered a quite thank you and went back to staring at the fire.
“You said my name.” Her voice broke the quiet and Cassian looked at her quizzically. “When you were coming to you said my name, my actual name.” A small laugh escaped from her. “I never thought that I would hear you say my name again.”
A slight smile graced his face at the sound of her laugh. “I thought the same with you. I haven’t heard you say my name in ages.” He shifted slightly closer to her, the firelight catching his eyes as he spoke. “Why do you not call me by my name in the first place?”
She lightly scoffed at his question. “Are you really asking that? You have refused to use my first name ever since I got stationed on Yavin IV.” She looked away from him, her smile quickly dissolving into a frown. “I was pretty sure you hated me.”
His smile disappeared just as quickly. That was not at all how he felt. It was quite the opposite really. He could just never risk telling her how he felt. What would happen if he told her how he felt and then he died? Or worse, if she died? Cassian had already lost his entire family and joined the rebellion, how would he react to losing the woman he loved? He looked over at her. Part of him was warning him to not tell her a single thing, while another was yearning to let her know everything.
Neither of them could explain what happened in that next moment. (Y/n) was looking into the fire, mulling over the memories of all the times that Cassian had seemed to hate her. He was watching her, hating seeing her upset. In the next moment, his impulses completely took over. He slid over to beside her, gently turned her face towards his, and pressed his lips against hers. He pulled away before she had the chance to kiss him back. His face hovering only a few inches away he said, “I never hated you. It’s quite the opposite actually.”
She didn’t respond with words. (Y/n) placed a hand on the back of his neck and pulled him back in for another kiss. That one kiss turned into another and another and another. “Cassian,” she said between kisses, “I’ve waited to hear you say that for so long.” Her sentence was punctuated with a shiver at the end.
He saw her shiver and let out a soft chuckle. “You’re still cold?” He opened up his arms and gestured for her to snuggle into his first layer, a coat that was only slightly bigger than the one that was draped across her shoulders. She threw a few more pieces of wood onto the fire and then took him up on his offer, resting her head on his chest as her arms went around his waist. As she finally stopped shivering, Cassian noticed that she had started drifting off to sleep. Carrying him to this cave must have taken a lot out of her. He smiled down at her and did his best to give her plenty of coat to stay warm. For one moment, amidst all the war and events of today, they had found a moment of peace, even if it was in a cave with a fire to keep them warm.

So, let’s imagine that after all the shitty endings, our babes are still alive ad finnally getey get to be together and happy and star you know, developing their thing for eachother.
let’s say that they get to the kinky part of their relationship. and there is besides some good Dom!2b all over that, that there is also somee breath play.
taking in consideration that 9s was chocked before in one of the endingns... I think that even if it seems cruel, it might be a fettish to exploit.
