❝ TWO FACED ❞

WEDNESDAY — MAY 4, 2001 — 3:13AM

KAI HAD NEVER FELT AS STRANGE AND EMPTY AS THE NIGHT HE SPENT WITH LIONEL IN A MIDDLE CLASS, UNSUSPECTING MIAMI HOTEL.

For the first hour or so after their arrival, Kai pored over the three files his father had given him. The longest one was about Operation: Ultraviolet, which outlined the goals and development of the CIA’s plans to recruit a child spy. Kai was in it as the subject, never mentioned by name. The file had reports about all his training, which were updated by Joe himself every three months, outlining new things the subject had learned and the things he’d grown proficient in. There were reports that went all the way back to when Kai was four — the first time Lionel had taught him a few small self defense techniques. The newest reports were the pages Joe had typed up about the kidnapping, and Kai’s daring escape, which he viewed as nothing more than a show of skill. Like it wasn’t the actual kidnapping of his son.

The second file had only a few pages about some American Wildlife Activist, Leon Waters. Where he was born, all his living family (only a son, now.) his properties and jobs and endeavors. Kai skimmed what seemed to be his entire life’s story; how his father died and he inherited Haywire Enterprises, a company that bought and protected land and animals, owning dozens of wildlife reserves around the globe and about two-hundred rehabilitation centers and zoos in various parts of the world. There were also files and pictures about an isolated incident; a fleet of Haywire Enterprises planes flying into the Australian outback — very near to the River Rocks Summer Camp Leon Waters owned. The pictures showed the flight crew in hazmat suits.

Kai assumed that’s what he was going to be investigating.

The third file was about the other teenager who’d be accompanying him; Alex Rider. He looked at a candid photo of the boy which was paper-clipped to the inside of the folder, putting on display his fair, blonde hair and dark brown eyes. He was walking down a street alongside a redheaded woman, and looked completely unaware that his photo was being taken. Kai only scanned the first page. He read about parents who were dead, no cause of death listed — then about an uncle, whose cause of death was also not listed. Apparently Alex Rider lived with a housekeeper -- the redhead -- Jack Starbright. Like Kai did.

And that’s about as far as he got. He abandoned the rest of the pages about Alex Rider and folded up all the files again, flopping them down on the bedside table.

The hotel room they were in was nice; but not as nice as the penthouse he’d never left. It had two king beds sitting side by side, flanked with bedside tables. A single tv stand and television sat in front of them. Lionel had turned it on, and it had been playing F.R.I.E.N.D.S for the last hour, but Kai hadn’t paid much attention.

It was three in the morning. They’d be leaving for the airport in three hours, but Kai hadn’t slept at all, and he doubted he would. There was too much spinning and broiling in his mind. In the last six hours, he’d been kidnapped, held at gunpoint, told by his stepfather that he’d been training him to be a child spy for his entire life (and that he didn’t care about him, basically.) And now, he was being forced on a mission against his will, being shoved on planes to London and then Australia without any consent or even the slightest forewarning. Kai had never even been out of his house.

He had already been a ghost; living a life that didn’t exist. Now, he was living a life that wasn’t even his. Would he ever actually get to be Malachi Blackwell? Or was he just going to be a statistic, a project, a subject forever? Would he ever get to see any of the black and white again, or was his reality always going to be a lifeless, muddled gray?

The first spoken word between the boy and his housekeeper came during a commercial break from F.R.I.E.N.D.S., at almost three-twenty. Kai had laid down on top of the neatly folded hotel bedding, and had turned his back to Lionel and the television and everything. He didn’t really want to see it right then.

“Kai,” Was what Lionel said. He sounded calm. His voice was smooth and soothing, like it always was, like it always had been, though it did little to ease the grim gray storm that had swallowed the teenager whole.

Kai didn’t respond. For a few minutes, he just laid there, pretending he hadn’t heard Lionel at all. What was there to talk about? More lies? More things that had been hidden from him? Back when life had been simple, Lionel apologized to Kai on Joe Byrne’s behalf often; for missing dinner, or falling asleep during a movie, or for having to rush out in the middle of the night. But this time, Kai was sure there was absolutely nothing he could say that could even begin to cover it all. Maybe it would be better if they were both just… quiet.

A few moments passed, and the commercials turned back into the last leg of the F.R.I.E.N.D.S. episode. 

“Malachi,” Lionel spoke again, and Kai heard him move. “Look at me, please.”

Reluctantly, with a deep inhale, Kai pulled himself up and turned, dangling his feet off the right side of the hotel bed. Lionel was across from him, on the opposite bed. He looked… worn. Sad, almost, but Kai wasn’t sure why.

“Did you know?” The teenager questioned suddenly, looking down at his feet. Lionel had brought him a full luggage when he picked him up from the CIA building, including perfectly clean white tennis shoes, and had hugged him and asked if he was alright almost profusely on his arrival. He had also tended to his wounds when they arrived at the hotel, in silence -- which was why Kai was now sporting butterfly stitches on his right temple. “The training, my whole life -- did you know?”

Lionel’s dark eyes trailed Kai’s frame for a short moment. He wasn’t sure what the housekeeper saw, but whatever it was kept him from lying. Perhaps Kai looked fragile after his entire life got uprooted and thrown into the fire -- he wouldn’t doubt it. He had always been treated like a priceless antique, but right now, he felt more fragile than he ever had.

“Yes,” Lionel replied, simply. “Yes. I did. Your stepfather… recruited me specifically to be your warden. Because of my past.”

Kai nodded slightly. “And what? Is everything I know about you a lie, too?”

“No,” Lionel shook his head. “I’m retired from the Delta Force. Unmarried. My only brothers died in the service and my parents soon after. Everything you know about me is true.”

Kai inhaled and exhaled, nodding, looking back down at his shoes. “And what am I to you? A job? An asset?”

“Kai,” Lionel spoke softer now, slower. “I’ve been with you since you were born. In every way, you’re the son I never had. And I care about you as though you’re my own. You know that.”

“Do I? Because I thought the same about…” Kai trailed off, tossing a hand lazily to the side. 

Lionel sighed deeply. “He loves you-”

“Don’t defend him,” Kai ordered, and Lionel fell quiet.

“Alright,”

A moment of silence filtered through the hotel room. Kai merely stared at his feet, several different feelings swirling around inside of him like the beginnings of a hurricane.

He took a shaky breath. “I got kidnapped. He was sent a ransom video of a gun pressed to my head and when I got to his office, he didn’t even ask if I was okay.”

Lionel said nothing, and Kai shrugged, keeping his eyes low; on the floor, the legs of the beds, his feet. “What kind of dad does that? He wasn’t even phased. Wilhelm could’ve killed me and he didn’t even spare a second to step out of his stupid office!”

“Kai,”

“Don’t defend him!” Kai ordered, pointing a finger at Lionel for a split second. “Just… don’t.”

“You weren’t kidnapped,” Lionel replied shortly. Kai finally had the courage to fully meet his eyes, looking up at him with a mixture of skepticism and disbelief.

“What?” 

Lionel shifted on the bed, bringing one of his feet up to rest on the frame. “Your father wasn’t going to tell you this, Kai; but the kidnapping wasn’t real. It was set up and orchestrated by the CIA -- one final test before they sent you out of the country to see how you would hold up under pressure. Pressure you thought was real. Your father knew you wouldn’t be injured.”

Kai blinked, blankly. A slew of emotions passed through him, all loud and vile and unidentifiable, before he finally settled on pure and unadulterated hatred. He shot off of the bed with a sudden: “What the hell?!”

“Kai-”

“They had guns! They-they hurt you! They hit me, they… they were shooting at me, they could’ve killed me! One trigger pull and they could’ve blown my head off!” Kai shouted. One hand flew up to rake through his hair. “He gave me a whole speech about not being two-faced, but he planned to torture me and then lied about it? God dammit!”

Kai wasn’t really sure where he was trying to go, but he walked absentmindedly around the hotel room anyhow, finally settling on leaning against the wall right next to the door, staring at it, debating on leaving. Where would he go, if he ran?

The sounds of footsteps and shuffling came from behind him. A few quiet moments came and went, and Lionel’s gentle hand came to rest on Kai’s left shoulder from behind. He was trembling. When had he started that?

“Come here,” Lionel ordered quietly. When Kai didn’t move, Lionel tugged on him a bit. “Come here, son.”

Kai exhaled heavily, letting Lionel gently turn him around. He didn’t dare look at him, but stared down at both of their shoes.

Lionel didn’t speak -- he just reached forward and pulled Kai into a secure embrace.

Kai exhaled shakily, thumping his forehead against the man’s shoulder hard. “I’ve never had a dad at all, have I?”

Lionel said nothing. 

Kai’s rage simmered down to a hot anger that was just manageable, the space it left being filled by despair and something lonely. And so, in the safety of the hotel, far from the man he’d thought was his father and the CIA’s prying eyes, he cried.

The morning came quicker than anyone wanted it to. 

Kai never slept. He didn’t cry for very long, but even the small spurt seemed to drain everything out of him, leaving him empty and silent for the entirety of the morning.

Lionel had gone with him to the airport, through customs and all the way to his gate. Lionel had been given Kai’s passport and paperwork -- the teenager wasn’t sure if it was real or fake, or what name was even on it, but it got him to his gate nonetheless. That’s where the two of them shared hushed goodbyes and Kai got on his first plane, in his entire life, by himself.

Lionel said he couldn’t come -- Kai wasn’t sure why, but he was sure it was just another way Joe Byrne decided to put a nail in the coffin where their barely-existing relationship had died. Was he planning to strip everything away from him in a span of twenty-four hours?

“If I could get you out of this, I would,” Lionel had said as they waited for the plane. “Be careful. Trust your instincts.”

Kai hadn’t said anything back.

The housekeeper had misty eyes during their final goodbye. Kai felt almost nothing at all.

Of course, he’d seen planes on tv, but he never imagined he’d be riding in one, let alone by himself. His father had booked him into business class. But even the bigger seats and better food selection didn’t help when it came to turbulence and the outright horror that was plane rides. 

Apparently, his terror was tangible enough that a little blonde flight attendant kept bringing him water and little plastic bags for him to throw up in. He never did, but even the fact that a stranger thought he would was humiliating enough. He wondered, the whole time, if his so-called stepfather was laughing somewhere, reveling in his every single discomfort.

Seven hours later, feeling sick and jet-lagged to the moon and back, Kai landed at Heathrow Airport in London. By himself.

Getting off and through customs, again, was a nightmare. He had no idea what he was doing, and one of the security guards at the post had to practically guide him through it all. Which was humiliating on top of the already humiliating plane ride.

Finally, he walked out toward the parking lots. He had no clue where he was going or what he was doing — no one had told him where to go once he got to London. So much for his father being thorough.

But, when he stepped across the street toward one of the parking lots, he saw a man standing outside the airport, holding a card in his hand. It read: Joe Byrne.

Kai briefly wondered if he’d ever actually get to live under his own name.

The man, an older guy in a suit and tie, took him to a sleek black mercedes. 

It was eight o’clock at night in London. Kai had left at sunrise and arrived after sundown, and his whole sense of time seemed uprooted and turned on it's head. He fell asleep in the car, but only for perhaps five minutes before the man pulled to a stop on a dark street. Lined with architecturally stunning buildings at every turn, Liverpool street was perhaps the most impressive place Kai had seen. Not that he’d seen many places.

He didn’t pay very much attention to it all, though; he was tired, and he had to work to follow the driver through the streets from where they parked. The man had assured him that he’d have his luggage handled — whatever that meant.

The man took him down the cool London street without speaking. It was probably twenty degrees colder than Miami there, and even in the nighttime darkness, Kai could see the gloomy clouds looming overhead. They walked in a still silence for a long while before the man finally stopped at a large bricked building with intricate stonework and a huge, black door.

The sign next to the door read: Royal & General Bank.

As Kai looked at the building ahead of him, and the man in the tie went in without as much as a glance back at the teenager, he decided that Royal & General Bank was probably just as much a bank as the Centurion International Advertising was an advertising company.

He was about to meet MI6.

The Foleys' Incredible Crisis

Chapter 1: Call It Stormy Monday

Call It Stormy Monday (But Tuesday Is Just as Bad) was written and performed in 1947 by T-Bone Walker. It is one of the most popular Blues songs ever, and has been performed and reiterated by countless other musicians. It has been credited with inspiring B.B. King to take up electric guitar, and it is included in the Library of Congress.

Happy Invisobang!!! This should have been posted earlier in the week but I couldn't make myself get to the computer to finalize/format it. Hehe. This year I had the INCREDIBLE experience of working with Shadow and Sharks, who were such wonderful artists— they have a whole smörgåsbord of art to please your eyes in this story! They have kept me on my toes— as I write this, the final, collaborated illustration is still a secret to me 👀 Lola is an OC I named once I realized Tucker absolutely feels like he has a little sister. Since then she's been in my heart and I can't let her go. My wonderful girl Lola. It's a treat whenever I get to see her in the wild— I almost had a heart attack when she appeared in Lex Luthor's Ascent from Supervillainy to Fatherhood by halfagone!

fic summary: After a whole week of vacation stuck together, the Foleys were more than happy to have some time apart. So when they each found themselves caught up in ghost business, that meant handling it alone. Angela wasn't planning on improvising a ghost conspiracy, Maurice was hoping to avoid working IT, Lola didn't think playing a hero would take her out of school, and Tucker would really have liked to focus on his own problems. But, really, what else did they expect from Amity Park? Home, sweet home.

Tucker dropped his bag with a thunk. He was far beyond caring to be delicate, despite the electronics inside— he just wanted to shed his shoes and jacket and maybe the memories of the trip along with them.

"Ohhhh-kay," said his mom, grimacing at the trash can. Nobody had thought to empty it before they left. "What a vacation!" She laughed emptily. "I'm going to bed. You can fend for yourselves for dinner."

Tucker's dad popped back out from behind the bathroom door. "Before you go," he called over the rush of the faucet, "can we all just agree? Real quick, get in the den and then we can all ignore each other."

Lola sighed loudly and gave up untying her shoe, just kicking it off. Tucker agreed. He couldn't wait to wash his hands after the long trip.

His dad dried off his hands and joined them in the den, looking each of his family members in the eyes one by one. "I propose we never talk about this trip unless we have to."

Everyone agreed with as much fervor as they could muster after the fraught day.

"Also," said Lola, "I think we should try not to talk to each other for a whole day."

"Works for me," said Tucker.

His mom yawned. "Much as I love you all, I'm good with a day pretending you don't exist. Tucker, can you walk with Lola to and from school tomorrow?"

He looked at his little sister. She shrugged.

"As long as she plays nice, yeah."

His dad clapped. "Cool. Alright. So, unless one of us needs something, we all mind our own business tomorrow? Okay. I'm gonna order a pizza, and... I'll sleep in the guest room tonight. Pleasure doin' business with you all."

Tucker closed his eyes and sighed, pleased at imagining taking a shower and sleeping in his own bed in a few hours.

They had just wanted to see family in Chicago. What a disaster.

The library was quiet when Angela Foley came in. That made sense, she worked weekday mornings, so they usually only saw adults and the rare preschooler. As much as she liked helping the spread of knowledge, it was nice not to have too much to do at the front desk. Maybe she could get a crossword puzzle or two done.

She had made it about halfway through the puzzle (Angela knew a lot of things, but wordplay was never her specialty. What on Earth was she supposed to get from "gift for a blue lady"?) before someone walked in, paused, and went straight for the front desk.

She put on her smile. "Hi! Can I help ya with anything?"

The man was tall, wearing a clean white button-up shirt and jeans. His brassy skin and black hair caught strangely in the fluorescent lights, turning almost orange at their edges. She was pretty sure he was a ghost in disguise, but she had helped ghosts before. Usually, if one was asking for help using a library, they weren't intent on doing anything violent.

Usually. She still reserved a little caution.

"Yes, I'm looking for information on a very distant place. Where might I find something like that?"

"Well, what place is it?"

"It's called An Aghaidh Mhòr."

Angela blinked at the unfamiliar sounds. "I'm not familiar. Is that... Gaelic?"

The man fiddled with his sleeves. "Scottish, I believe, yes."

"Alright." Angela stood up and moved toward the computer monitor at the desk by the door. "I'm going to check in our catalog for books on Scotland."

The man watched silently as she searched. Angela hummed. "It looks like, in house, the only books we have on Scotland are travel guides covering the whole of the UK or Europe. I don't expect they'd have many details on smaller places— well, I'm assuming An Aghaidh Mhòr is small, since I haven't heard of it. If you'd like, you can check anyway, or I can contact another library in the system, and they can send over some more specialized books, but that might take a few days."

The man said nothing, but his eyebrows furrowed in thought. Angela recognized the face of a person with a wide, potent array of bad options.

"Or, if you're more pressed for time, we do have a few computers and Internet access here. I can help you find some web sites that might have what you're looking for."

"And this wouldn't take any longer than looking through a book?"

Angela smiled and headed toward the public computers. "Faster, even, if you know what you're doing. I can help you if you've never done it before."

They began their search, and the man caught on quickly to what Angela was doing and how. She helped him for a while, long enough to find out that An Aghaidh Mhòr was a place in the woody North of Scotland, usually called Aviemore, and was something of a tourist destination. Beyond that, she left him to do his own research and went back to her crossword.

She just had a pesky few clues left when the man started muttering curses in another language and walked back over to her desk.

With panicked eyes, he said "I have to be honest. What I'm looking for is, ah… evidence that An Aghaidh Mhòr has an open community of ghosts alongside its humans. I'm certain that it once did, and I know that it still must. But I have chased every tail of information I could find that led to pages on the computer, and none of them, regardless of detail or experience with the town, has mentioned it."

He looked down and seemed to weigh something in his head. "It must be some sort of secret. Whether to protect the ghosts or to protect themselves from ridicule, the living people of An Aghaidh Mhòr have hidden their ghost society. You have to help me find it."

The little hairs on Angela's body all stood up. Warning bells were going off in her head. There was nothing to do but remain calm. "If that's the case, I don't know about anything like that. I can send out a question to my colleagues to see if they know anything, but I'm afraid I can't–"

"No!" The man swung out a hand, and the inner doors swung shut, silvery light weaving across them like fishing nets to keep them in place. The lights dimmed and his skin faded to a deep, fiery orange, layered and complex like agate. His eyes glowed like the moon. The few library guests gasped and looked at him in shock.

"You are a keeper of information, from a city with a striking connection to ghosts. I need to know the truth about ghostly An Aghaidh Mhòr, and you must help me find it." His silver eyes were full of fear, but Angela couldn't bring herself to care how the ghost who just trapped and threatened her was feeling.

She had to think fast to get out of this safely. Something to keep his hopes up…

"Fine. Fine." Angela held up her hands. "I'm not confident in my own grasp of the situation, but I do know of some secrets like the one you're talking about. It'll take some time– say, a couple hours– to put together anything meaningful, and I'll need to call in an expert, but I can do it. I will do it."

She could only hope her friends were any good at improv.

Maurice was never one for early mornings, but he always made the best of his hour alone after the kids went off to school and Angela's shift started. That was his time to make coffee and goof around. He could prance around the kitchen in ways that would make Tucker gag if he were there, and as long as he couldn't see his neighbors, he could put them out of mind enough to sing as loud as he wanted.

Before work was the blues hour. Today he put on Lucille. Whole album, on tape, from the top.

If anybody asked why he started his days with the blues, he'd probably say something about the sad lyrics reminding him how lucky he was. How no matter how embarrassing the family vacations or boring the work or sleazy the boss, he still had a clean house around him and a faithful wife beside him.

In reality, though, he mostly just liked the beat.

Once he got into work, it was just the same as ever. Double-entries and journalizing. He didn't even get to mix up which accounts he dealt with. VLADCO was too big for that. It was Accounts Receivable, 140-180, day after day.

But at least it wasn't IT.

Then, after almost an hour of swimming through "Axiom Labs, Ltd. $1,300 Debit" and "Hey, Maurice, how was the weekend?" and "Nugreen Ectosuppliers, LLC $400 Credit" and "You get that last letter? Crazy what Masters is trying these days, yeah?", everything went dark.

(Or, at least darker than usual. The grainy white of every surface in the office never lent itself to anything deeper than a cloudy grey.)

After a few seconds of quiet shock, the lights came back. Now, however, there was a ghost floating in front of the door connecting the Finances and Supplies department to the rest of the facility.

He seemed to be well-muscled and of average height, though it was hard to tell exactly what a ghost looked like when they were putting off that much of an aura. His skin was dark green and rough-looking, like bark, and there was a reddish halo around his head like some sort of spectral hair. His blood-moon eyes looked over everyone in the room individually before anyone dared speak. Finally, he opened his mouth.

"This is the center of a company that arms humans againsts ghosts and similar threats. Yes?"

Shocked, a few people nodded.

"And you are all from the department keeping stock of supplies. I do not know where your weapons are kept, but I know that you do. Someone in here will retrieve them for me. I need them, if I am to bring my people, ghosts and humans, together again."

The tension finally broke the membrane freezing time, and several office workers started to move for phones.

"Don't bother trying to get help. I have severed all the lines of communication between you and the world outside this office. I will leave you alone, as soon as someone leads me to the armory."

Maurice glanced at the little LCD display on the phone on his desk. No signal. His computer, too, had nothing when he clicked over to the Internet settings.

No one said anything. Some kept trying with their phones, but not a single person offered to explain how scant and useless the actual in-house ecto-equipment supply was or show the path to it. Maurice imagined they were all thinking the same thing he was; yes, complying was generally the way to stay safe in a hostage situation, and panic was strong, but a ghost coming into town and getting their hands on even just half-assembled ecto-equipment never went well. And, maybe even more importantly, VLADCO had terrifyingly strict regulations on safe ecto-tech policy. Unless the immediate threat of being personally hurt for information increased, the consequences in the long run were the biggest monster here.

The ghost crossed his arms. "Fine. You have one hour to bring me to the weapons. I can wait. I have waited this long. If you take any longer, or if you attempt any trickery, then I will start going through with threats. Until then, you may have your time to panic and fantasize about ways out that don't involve giving up company supply. I will be standing here."

He leaned against the door, and his gaze stayed rock-hard on the workers and their cubicles.

Maurice caught the eye of his most tolerable coworker Jacob. Jacob widened his eyes in some silent look of panicked questioning. Maurice shrugged. He was scared out of his mind, but what was there to do? Freaking out wouldn't do anybody any good. He could wait here and see if any ghost hunter showed up, and once they got closer to the end of the hour, everybody could meet up and decide if it was worth giving up the ecto-tech.

For now... well, he certainly wasn't going to do more accounting. This was as good an excuse for a break as any.

He toyed around on his computer for a bit, fidgeting with whatever programs he had. Maybe if the ghost noticed him, he could say he was looking for office schematics explaining where the ecto-tech was held. Really, he couldn't think to do anything but let off stress.

He played around in the rudimentary E-mail client for a bit. Mimed sending goofy messages to his coworkers while he knew he couldn't accidentally send them. But there, at the top of his inbox, was the automated morning office update. It had just come in four minutes ago... after the communications were shut off.

Was there some kind of hole in the ghost's anti-communication measure? The intercoms weren't working, and normal E-mails weren't going through, even within just Finances & Supplies. But the daily updates worked on a different system than the normal E-mails, so nobody had to send them at a consistent time each day, just queue them up.

...Was there something about the different setup that made it immune to the ghost's blackout?

Maurice got to investigating.

School is done in the week time for everyone’s weekend starts.

Tina and her cousin Joel and her friends in outside of the school and started talking while Billy, Minto, Demi, and Emily are also talking but in the different topic.

Tina: so can you go to the mall with us big cousin?

Joel: ok I’ll do anything for my lil younger cousin and also I bringing everyone form our school-

Kai: HEY THERE MY IDIOTS

Joel: well anyway we can go and also Kai can go too if he wants idk maybe

Emily: did you guys heard that our school Autumn Reko-Chan is haunted, one time there is a student with a knife and start killing other students who under the age of 5-18 and teachers and only 200 students of Autumn Reko-Chan had died and 7 of the teachers died while 3 survived and 300 students survived too and the police came and arrested the student, and in late 1990s the man with the gun started killing more and more students and the police came but the man disappeared and the one student is missing and never been seen again, and then 2010s Jez came in the school and began shooting and killing every students and every teachers, nurses, janitors, ss workers, and than the principal and 100 students survived but all the teachers, nurses, janitors, and the principal are all still dead, oh and also the missing child with the September family is still in the school playground and stalking the students who under the age of 5-12 and the demon lady like ghost is looking for her victims but during night when school is ended.

But people think the killer student, the man with the gun, Jez, the missing child, and the demon lady are all still in the school so try to be careful and never got murder.

Joel: nah who cares about what Emily says ofc it fu*king real but it never happened again

Joel: maybe we all might get to school and got murder by these criminals idiots

Joel: but they are dead so there’s not to fear cuz we just killed them

Joel: but I had an bad feeling about if Jez had survived and faked her death but at least everyone in the school is still safe as like in the 1880s

Joel: well we just go to the mall then if Jez is there we might killed her like how we kill the killers of our school.

Davis: r u ok darling?

Dance Headcanons for Valorant Agents

I said i would do it

According to Drax, the Destroyer, there are two types of people in the universe; those who dance and those who do not. I don’t agree totally with this affirmative. I believe there are people who dance and people who think that they not dance. (Or you think that Drax and Ovette didn’t make some moves when they where alone?)

(Geez, sorry)

Fortunately, i feel that most of Valorant agents dance. And this is so fun to think!

Here’s the proof that my agents dance! Right in Killjoy’s lab!

I made two types of headcanons. One where the agents dance casually, like in parties, and in the dances competition. (If a dance pad exist, they will compete at some point) Don’t expect to me not mix it all at some point.

So, follow the rhythm and let’s dance!

Dance Headcanons

If the agents went to a party, 

The ones that will immediately hit the dance floor: Astra, Breach, Jett, Phoenix and Raze.

The ones that take a drink first (and while they’re dancing): Chamber, Cypher, Skye and Reyna.

Those who say that they will just look but eventually go dance by their own (or under alcohol influence): Mister i’m-not-that-old-for-dance-a-little-right? Brimstone, Sage, Sova and Viper.

Those which is a miracle that they still are there: Kay/O, Killjoy, Omen, Yoru and also Viper.

For some reason, (maybe ‘cause i think that they’re rich and rich people do these stuff) Cypher, Sova and Chamber (The frenemies trinity) do know salon dance.

Chamber is the best, since he knows Tango, Salsa and Zouk. A truly Dancing King. Cypher came after him, knowing Salsa and Cha cha cha. Sova is good enough for making anyone stop to watch his dance. (Myman <3)

When is about dancing, Jett is a lone wolf. Dancing is like flying for her. She wants to feel totally free and don’t want that nobody interrupt her good mood.

So, if she invites someone to dance with her, this person is very privilege.

Skye and Breach are terrible dancers, but they have so much fun doing it, that their ridiculous style doesn’t bother them at all.

Is necessary to say that Astra and Raze dances anywhere and anytime? I’ll say just to remember everyone.

These two has a lot of energy available. So they are always moving and picking up people to dance.

Even in missions

Actually, once, Raze installed a huge boombox in the mission airplane. And, when the agents went effectively for the mission, she just turn her most upbeat playlist on

NOW HERE COMES THE PARTY!

Just imagine they stepping out of the plane with Coisa Boa as the mission soundtrack. Oh Chills, literal chills.

Of course Brimstone scolded her 

But it worth it.

Raze loves to teach her dances to the other agents. Any dance that she knows, she will show the others how do it and encourage then to do this anytime.

Reyna is pretty great in twerking like Raze, but the most infected one is Phoenix.

I’m saying, if Raze put some Brazilian bass on, Phoenix will immediately follow the rhythm. You should see his performance of Vai Malandra.

Multiple ways of express love (Based on Valorant's Agents Countries)

It is Valentines Day After All!

Hey hey hey! Here I came with one of that big posts for celebrating the day of love. Actually... For some people are the day of love. In Brazil, we celebrate the Valentines Day in June 12. Someone change the date for moving economy in the month. In other countries, the date changes too for several reasons. I find this so interest! I love to see different cultures meeting.

Fortunately, my favorite game of the time have this aspect. Different people from divers countries together! Oh, so many possibilities!

So, for celebrating all ways of love, i compiled some forms of saying "I love you" in Valorant's Agents native languages.

I made an effort to go beyond the google translator. So i research for videos and sites where i could learn something more. I tried to add some compliments, trivia and, of course, my own comments.

Jasper: “treasurer”

Jerecho: normally spelled Jericho. It means “city of the moon,” and was the city that the Israelites marched around and felled. It spelled “wrong” because his bioparents were trying to be artsy (also I was trying to be artsy because his nickname Echo. Echo came to me because I thought it was a cool name for a ghost which was what he originally was.)

Brass: (for spoiler purposes we won’t be using his real name) an alloy of copper and zinc. His nickname however comes from the fights he gets in because he uses Brass knuckles. Idr how it came to me, just thought it was cool.

Mitchell: English variation of Michael "who is like God"

Mercedes: “gracious gifts, benefits.” “Mercedes is one of the few names attached to luxury living…it being a legitimate Spanish appellation stemming from one of the epithets given to the Virgin Mary--Santa Maria de las Mercedes, or Our Lady of the Mercies.” Source 

Sterling: “of the highest quality”

Raegan: “little king”

Desabelle: I made this one up actually. I wanted her nicknames to be “Des” and “Desa” so I just looked for other names that had that “a” sound with an extension if that makes sense (see: Annabelle)

Axel: “father of peace” (real ironic since he creates a lot of conflict)

Logan: “little hollow” (this is fitting)

Shane: “God is gracious”

Raelynn: “Raelynn is an invented English name that became popular during the 21st century. The name starts with the element rae. This use of rae can have several meanings. Rae is the short form of Rachel (meaning “ewe”), the feminine short form of Raymond (meaning “protective advisor”), or the alternative spelling of “ray” (as in sunbeam). The suffix -lynn means “lake.”” Source

Zereus: another one I made up of two names. Zeru which means “sky” and another one I can’t find :/ maybe Zeus which also means “sky” but his name on Lyre means “stormy.”

Kaiper: Axel’s future son. He wanted to name him after a space related thing, his wife wanted to name him Kai, which means “sea.” Axel tried for Kuiper, his wife asked for the spelling “Kaiper.” Axel settles for the spelling but they argue about it a lot. 

Alias: not his real name, but when he’s on the run and trying to keep his name private, he’s asked what his name is. “My name?” “Yeah, your name” “…” “Your name, kid. Your alias, what you go by. C’mon, it ain’t that hard.” So he took Alias lol 

Lunaura: another one I made up, literally from the words “Luna” and “aura.” It means “moon’s aura.”

Varian: “variable” or “fickle.” He’s one clone of many, all of them are called Variants. He was just the one his father deemed the best, cut off the “t” and bam. His name. (Apparently it’s the name of a WoW character?? But I didn’t know that. I don’t play WoW.)

absolutely using this to talk about my pc kai for @figmybeloved's campaign <3 they're a japanese-hawaiian human sun soul monk who's a crust punk anti-captialist legend + short king. they fundraise in their community and organize a lot of marches/mutual aid for those in need. he was raised by their grandmother and then went into foster care until they were 16. currently the song i think best represents him is saint bernard by lincoln. also they're the most broken character ive ever made

I have to warn you this answer took me almost an entire day to write out, but I’m no mouse. LONG answer below! I missed out the non-RP charr, charr that have died IC, and the other races, just for my own sanity.

Apnea Spiritmaul Apnea is a Blood gal at heart, even if she is part of Iron Legion. She often spends her free time sparring with any Blood Legion she can find (and kicking their butts, usually.)

Arcturis Spiritmaw Arcturis, being half-legionnaire, doesn’t get much free time. He does enjoy taking far-too-long showers when he can, though. He will also just lay in the snow if he is in that climate.

Nerium Primalgaze (Yeah this isn’t alphabetical, I remade the alphabetical charr as her, hah.) Nerium is the type to enjoy the smaller things in life. Good ‘company’, a nice bath...

Artaios Earthshaker Earthshaker is a very, very old man. He spends his free time teaching any young charr who are interested in the ways of the Elements, or he sleeps. A lot.

Ashran Deadwar Ashran is another charr that likes to spar. He’ll fight, or go to the bane to watch the fights there.

Auva Solarbeast /  Ryta Thundervex Auva likes to spend time with her mate Ryta, and the two enjoy stargazing, cloudwatching, or anything to do with the sky. Auva also likes to read to Ryta.

Barb Axefell Barb was another charr that had little time. She works, she sleeps, and that’s about it.

Caye Bearbreaker Copious amounts of ale. End answer.

Corax Lunarcaller/ Xyx Blacklunar Corax likes to spend time with his ravens and also loves to read.

Cur Blitzpillager Cur likes to go very, very fast on her bike. No destination needed.

Eris Spiritheart Eris, much like her brother and co-legionnaire Arcturis, doesn’t get a lot of time. She used to spend all her free time with her mate, Vanessa, but since Vanessa died she’s mostly just been... Lost. She often just sits, staring into any bodies of water nearby.

Erro Sharkbone Erro is the type that sleeps with one eye open, so she doesn’t really let herself have any downtime. She’s either working or being too paranoid to do anything but watch her back.

Freki The Vile Lionguards and ‘free time’ don’t really mix. When she does find a few quiet minutes, Freki does quite enjoy fishing.

Gacrux Lifebringer Gacrux is an avid reader, from leaflets she finds on her adventures, to books she may happen across. It’s debatable if she can actually READ, but she sure likes to look at words.

Geier Hearthhew When Geier isn’t annoying the Adamant Guard, making unnecessary hassle for Warband charr, or stealing metal from the Citadel to pawn off to whoever may buy it, he likes to go grawl-watching.

Grus Lunarspark Grus enjoys tinkering with his guns and gyros. Whilst in Drizzlewood, he picked up the enjoyment of fishing out of the need for something substantial to eat.

Hadar Tumultcleave Hadar enjoys learning new spells. With the arrival of new-flame into the legions, he’s learning a lot more that he didn’t have a chance to before!

Invidere Envyheart Invidere is a bit of a writer and will spend a few hours before sleep time writing if possible.

Purtia the Brazen Purtia enjoys drinking whiskey, fighting Bloods, and taking trips out to the lakes to swim.

Kai Bossfang Another fighty charr. How original!

King Tyant King is currently in the Stockades. So, uh. Yeah. Not much he CAN do. He does enjoy singing, much to the jailer’s displeasure.

Malice Wrathwalker Before he was a centurion, Malice would enjoy drinking with his warband, or going out for long ‘patrols.’ He has no time for that now, though.

Malin Lunarstone / Malin the Pallid Malin has recently been trying to draw- which has been a hassle, as she’s more recently lost her writing hand. Doesn’t stop her. In the past, she would do alchemy as a hobby. She also brews and drinks a lot of tea.

Murren Rubblecroon While Murren is a singer, he’s a terrible lyricist. But... His hobby is writing some of the worst, non-sensical lyrics ever derived from a charr.

Nenqe the Shield Nenqe makes guitars as a hobby! She also enjoys eating.

Rallus Weldcog Rallus enjoys tinkering with his mechanical devourerer and drinking beer.

Rouzl Crypticfury I guess you could say Rouzl is a... story crafter. Because he likes to make up bullshit stories that never actually happened to make him look like a hero.

Rrul Rivecleave Rrul enjoys a good whiskey, watching the Bane, and more recently spending time with his ‘mate’ (as much as he won’t admit she is,) Sargas.

Sargas Broadcinder Sargas, being an ambassador of Greetsglory, has to keep herself as well-presented as possible at all times. She’d love to drink and fight, but she cannot.

Seamstress Kombucha Kombucha likes to bake (terribly) in her spare time. It’s a shame her talent is all specced into tailoring, as she makes a lot of food waste.

Sergi Serpentfang A charr well past her retirement and too stubborn to become a praetor, Sergi enjoyed complaining about how it used to be before the treaty, complaining about her useless cubs, and complaining about.... Well, anything else. BUT NOW SHE’S A FROSTY SO.

Skurr Arsonfume Skurr is another pain in the Adamant's tail. He enjoys stealing, outrunning those he just stole from and making New Flame legion look bad, apparently.

Speldan Cinderquell Speldan likes to visit Nolan to help with the devourerers. Recently, she’s taken a mild interest in magic thanks to her Legionnaire.

Syn Thunderstalker Being a stinky no-friend flame-licker (And also some really bad crap I’d rather not talk about, but... Old flame. I’m sure you can imagine.)

Tamika Dustshot Tamika likes to volunteer at the orphanage, hoping to change the children’s opinions on charr. She also raises tiger babies!

Temac Gemstrike Another charr that likes to steal, but she doesn’t do it to cause problems like the last two. She’s actually GOOD at it.

The Truest One Poor boy gets no free time. The reason why is a spoiler for my RP storyline, but he��s usually asleep...

Valun Nettlefall Valun is a hobbyist entomologist! He’s a sniper and will hide out within the wilderness for days on end- he’s taken a liking to identifying and documenting bugs whilst he’s out there.

Vega Brinegut Vega enjoys birdwatching! Not a very pirate-y activity for sure, but when you’re on the seas, seeing a bird is a sign of land coming soon.

Veta Wraithvine Veta is still very much in training and dedicates most of her time to that. She does enjoy soaking in rivers when she can, though.

Yeens Yeens likes to sew, even though she’s terrible at it. She tried to do repairs to her ship’s sails, but the first mate always redoes it after she botches it.

Zyre Endstrider Zyre is a bit of a poet, writing edgy and depressing prose over a bottle of whiskey.

Aries Mistwalker Another charr that doesn’t have much time. She’s a mist commander, and when she’s not sleeping, she’s leading the war.

Auxantious Auxantious (Aka. The Ghost of Godslost) is usually looking for anyone that may need his help, or making potions in his mist-shrouded tent.

Boor Keenjaw A huge glutton, Boor enjoys challenging others to eating contests. He always wins.

Breve Blackeye Breve is an alcoholic. He drinks, a lot. He’s never really in the right mind for hobbies beside that.

Ceres Siezescrap Ceres sometimes swings by the ranches when she needs some time out, sampling their wares and helping tend to the cows.

Congou Drakesdame Congou is always on the move, but when she does settle, she likes to curl up with her drakes and read.

Falk Blazebane As much as Blood has tried to ‘brainwash’ the young charr, Falk is still very much a free mind. He enjoys drawing, and has recently taken up cartography!

Firstmate Razormaw Razormaw likes to grow plants on the ship! They near-always die, but it doesn’t dissuade her. She likes to sing to them.

Galao Blackcandle Galao is usually always cooking. He does enjoy fishing, too, but he gets little time to.

Gannet Aegisjaw Gannet likes to challenge Boor to eating contests. He never wins, but they both have a good time.

Gnarl Shattersiege Gnarl loves to cook! And eat. He’s often found at the grills, making far too much meat and sharing it out with anyone who might be nearby.

Kallisti Smokehunt Kallisti enjoys swimming, and is often seen at a lake. She enjoys seeing how long she can hold her breath underwater (She’s pretty good at it!)

Mayall Stargazer Despite her name and job as an astrologist, Mayall turns to the ground for her hobbies. She enjoys studying plants and mushrooms!

Mehl Kilnsunder Mehl is another charr who isn’t sure what to do with her new freedom. She really enjoys spending time with the other Whispers agents, one of them is currently teaching her how to read. She likes that.

Mitho Deathgrip Another charr that’s always spoiling for a fight, Mitho is usually found getting in trouble by challenging charr double her size.

Parus Direblight Parus likes to talk to the patrons of the bar he works in, and get to know them all. He may or may not take some back to his room. Damn mousepouncers.

Polaris Anvilstone Polaris is a hobbyist brewer! It’s become a little more serious recently. They make all sorts of beers!

Rau Bitterbark Rau spends all his free time doing fahrar refresher courses for charr who seem to have forgotten their training. This is his way of relaxing..?

Rauch Slypoison Rauch likes to try new drinks and foods. She often hangs out in Divinity’s Reach, testing cocktails for a human barkeep there.

Rook Foulflare Rook is another Entomologist! He raises the bugs, though.

Skellur Boomtooth Skellur likes to do anything that makes a big noise. He often hangs at the cannons near the trading post, chatting to the workers when they’re not shooting at ghosts,

Spinel Blackcarve Much like her name suggests, Spinel enjoys carving statues and toys for the cubs out of chunks of wood.

Tabus Anvilshift Tabus enjoys reading, watching leylines,and being a bastard.

Teuen Venomwolf Teuen enjoys listening to music, and reading. He doesn't like metal.

Tiburtius Rendsight This charr never relaxes. Even if she could, she wouldn't.

Tuocha Blacksnow Tuocha will go to any snowy climate and just lay in the snow. If he can't do that, he'll complain how hot it is, constantly.

Volca Slashthroat Volca is a vile creature who wouldn't know 'fun' or 'relaxation' if it hit her in the face. The closest she gets is just killing indiscrimanately.

Vorrar Vorrar is another cook, who often tried to make food out of things that do not belong in food. It never tastes good, and is hardly even edible half the time.

Vurmbait the Feral Vurm doesn't eally have any hobbies besides trying to plot the downfall of the charr legions and the Olmakhan, and training herself to have a chance at doing that.

Xyx Blackbriar No, this isn't the same Xyx, there's just multiples! Xyx enjoys just being in nature, gathering moa feathers, and looking at plants. He's clueless about plants, but he likes them.

Yaxa Oozemaw Yaxa likes to watch, and star in, sometimes, plays! She doesn't get to watch them often, but as soon as she's not on duty with Maw, she's looking for where to enjoy a good (or absolutely terrible) play.
